‘WHAT have you bought online?

”The next arrival is the delayed 1984 service to Northfields”

The offers are many and varied: things to make your penis grow, pills to improve your sex life, a piece of toast with a crusty image of the Virgin Mary burnt into it.

But while many use the delete button to eradicate such offers, a firm responsible for maintaining parts of the London Underground has whipped out its credit card and spent large.

The Telegraph reports that the company Tube Lines has been surfing the ebay online auction site on the prowl for spare parts.

It has purchased computer cards, components for station train indicators and other equipment – “some of it 20 years old, which the rest of the rail industry regards as obsolete”.

Travellers on the Jubilee Line can look out for onboard ashtrays, Northern Line trains may be in line for some new coal-fired boilers and “customers” on the Piccadilly Line can study the “new” posters and so learn that Beverly Hills Cop is opening at a cinema near them soon.’
