A website claimed to have a 53-minute tape of Jessica Simpson and husband Nick Lachey in a variety of positions and sex acts.
It claimed the footage had been secretly filmed during their MTV reality series Newlyweds by a rogue cameraman with a motion-detecting camera in their bedroom.
However, it turned out to be a hoax, and the couples rep warned that lawyers are getting involved.
Britney Spears has also been the victim of a hoax tape, supposedly filmed by an old boyfriend from her hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana.
However, as a Britney marriage normally lasts less time than the tape itself, it was soon exposed as a fake.
The most famous fake, however, involved Ben Affleck.
A tape showing him naked and involved in what the Enquirer calls a solo sex act was advertised on the Internet for as little as $2.95.
The Ben Affleck in the tape bore a remarkable resemblance to the actor, the magazine says, and porn peddlers at first refused to accept it was a lookalike and remove the false claim.
However, it soon became clear the fakers had made a simple mistake – the lookalike Affleck was a much better actor than the real thing.
Indeed, the only wood on the fake tape was between the stars legs.’
