And where better to start than with the new GCSE in music which from September will, says the Guardian, include a new module in Britpop.

Of course, this will be a doddle for songbirds, who will only need to remember three chords instead of 2,000 different melodies to get an A.

But for the non-feathered pupils, it may be more of a challenge.

As Britpop expert John Harris observes, the examiners might think they’re being really cool daddy-o but Oasis, Pulp and Blur is practically the music of the pupils’ parents.

“Oasis were gloriously basic and made a virtue of it,” he says, “but God help the students in the classroom taking apart the music of Kula Shaker and Northern Uproar.

“There’s nothing there.”’
