‘EVEN with 56 pages devoted to Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles’ forthcoming nuptials, there’s always room in Hello! for a soap star’s wedding.

Johnny Briggs dealt severely with gatecrashers

And, it appears, the daughter of a soap star’s wedding.

This week, Hello! gets an invite to the marriage of Jennie Briggs, daughter of Johnny Briggs (aka Coronation Street rogue Mike Baldwin), and recruitment consultant Peter Davies.

And a star-studded wedding it is too. As well as Johnny Briggs, there is Johnny’s wife Christine and Johnny’s sons Michael and Anthony. Oh, and even Johnny’s other daughter, Stephanie.

But even with so many competing attractions, Johnny is still very much the star of the show.

That is because, says Hello!, the day brought back memories of his own real-life wedding in 1977, a year after he joined Coronation Street.

‘His wedding guests,’ it recalls proudly, ‘included legendary Weatherfield figures including Pat Phoenix and Julie Goodyear.’

The moral of the story being that if you can’t get celebrity guests to your wedding, at least get someone who got celebrity guests to theirs…’
