‘YOUR call to keep Anorak alive has been overwhelming. Thanks to you, in early May we will launch a subscription service.

The introductory bargain price for our service will be around £20 a year. I urge you to sign up and get others to do the same.

We will accept most major credit cards, cash, cheques, child tax credits, baby bonds, jewelry and gold.

I am not one for tears. Sure, I wept and beat my chest until I bruised when Princess Diana was taken from us.

And it is true that when Brian and Kerry McPadding realised that no amount to elastic could keep so much talent together, I joined the vigil outside the Warrington outpost of Spud U Like. I cried until my coleslaw ran.

But now I’m crying like never before at your kind words of support.
