It’s therefore no surprise to read in OK! of a new show called Footballer’s Cribs.

Fronted by Nancy Dell’Olio, England manager Sven Goran Eriksson’s on-off lover (delete as applicable), the show will take us through the keyhole, over the shagpile, with islands of suede, to the in-built coffee machine in the underused kitchen.

But though the show is challenging, OK! has spotted a new gap in the footballers housing market. Take a deep breath and plunge into the pool at Steven Gerrard’s Portuguese holiday home.

Yes, folks, it’s Footballers’ Holiday Cribs. And our first viewing is at the Liverpool skipper’s retreat he shares with girlfriend Alex Curran.

No mock Tudor here, folks, not even a Mock Inquisition wine cellar or stone clad garage modelled on the country’s Pombaline Era; just clean lines.

And very clean kitchen surfaces…’
