We are minded of Beckhams morphing from sportsman to celeb by OK!s sighting of Arsenal and England fullback Ashley Cole.
A few months ago, Cole was a footballer. End of. Then he met Cheryl Tweedy, a pouting, posturing presence in the manufactured pop act Girls Aloud.
Now Cole is seen in the showbiz pages of OK!, smooching his beloved as the pair celebrate their engagement in Marbella.
Dubai is where Cole popped the question. OK! got to know that he did so on horseback. Riding across the dessert sands like an Arabian prince in shinpads, he paused to whip out a £50,000 engagement ring and made Tweedy his.
Cheryl saw the sparkler and said yes. And then when shed regained her senses, she said some more.
The past year has been the best ever for me, she gushes. I feel like Ive got a fairy godmother watching over me…Ive never been in a relationship like this where Ive been treated like a princess.
So does that mean thrones fit for royalty at your weeding? I would like a big, white wedding, says she. As for Posh and Becks-style thrones and stuff, thats not my style.
So what will you do? I am fiercely independent. Footballers wives dont have careers and they live off their husbands money.
And they go on holiday to the Spanish costas, top up their tans and wear massive diamonds on their fingers…’
