‘ITV’S 50th birthday bash, held at the Guildhall in London, is sure to go down as one of the Top 100 TV Anniversary Celebrations Ever.

Her Majesty looks for Anthea Turner in the listings magazine

And before you rush out to buy the do’s official DVD, with its behind-the-scenes insights and hilarious outtakes, Hello! gives us all a sneak preview of what went on.

The Queen, a woman who’s been on our screens for even longer than Coronation Street’s Ken Barlow, is seen being introduced to 12-year-old Sam Aston, who plays Chesney in Corrie.

Liz asked him whether his parents are as badly behaved as his on-screen mum and dad Cilla and Les.

Not that Cilla, of course. Cilla Black, for it is not she, is however seen at the do in an outfit seemingly made from a carpet catalogue.

And not that Les, either. Les Dennis, for it is not he, wasn’t at the do. The former presenter of ITV’s Family Fortunes was either uninvited or unable to attend. Perhaps the Queen is bitter that Les never invited the Windsors to appear on the show.

Moving on, Liz then met Philip Schofield and confessed that she was a big This Morning fan. And she shook hands with Claire Sweeney and Gabby Logan. And Liz met with Kirsty Gallagher, presenter of her favourite show, Kirsty’s Home Videos.

But who’s this? It’s Ant and Dec, your Majesty. And what do you do, she asked them.

And with that question went any chance Liz had of being in I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!…’
