Covered In Moss

by | 2nd, November 2005

‘REMEMBER when Kate Moss was the pariah of the Western world? Of course you do, it was only a few weeks ago.

Do not try this at home

So much of a fashion leader was Moss that where she led legions of obedient, impressionable yoof would follow. She took cocaine. They would take cocaine. Moss would ruin a generation.

Now, after a spell in rehab, the Times says Moss is back. She’s on the front cover of Vanity Fair magazine.

Moss might not be good enough for Chanel and Burberry, who declared her persona non grata, but she’s just the ticket for this magazine.

Not that the magazine’s cover shot is of Moss today. The picture was taken a while back, for the cover of its December issue. But at least the headline is up to speed: “Kate Moss, Can She Come back?”

It’s the big question. It’s big enough for the magazine to debate it over 11 pages, and for the Times to feature it on one of its own.

And it’s the question in another New York-based magazine, W. Moss’s on the front of that periodical, too. As Dennis Freedman, the magazine’s creative director, says: “She is interesting and in the news.”

Who still says drugs don’t make you popular and fascinating company..?’
