Diary Of A Somebody

by | 18th, August 2006

“I’M not the least bit interested about the X Factor starting up again.” And so begins a section of Kerry Katona’s OK! Diary.

That Kerry should tell us how disinterested she is in this TV talent show is testament to her professionalism and selfless dedication to diary writing.

When it comes to diary writing Kerry is up there with the best of them. Reading her bon motes we are minded of the work of Mr Charles Pooter, a man we at Anorak are honoured to call a firm acquaintance.

The opening words to the tale of Pooter’s days could have emerged from Kerry’s quill: “Why should I not publish my diary? I have often seen reminiscences of people I have never even heard of, and I fail to see – because I do not happen to be a ‘Somebody’ – why my diary should not be interesting. My only regret is that I did not commence it when I was a youth.”

Kerry seems to have begun her diary while watching EastEnders. She says this is something she enjoys and will continue to enjoy no matter what. Wars will be waged, hairstyles will come and go, her Iceland chicken will defrost and spoil on the granite-style work surfaces but Kerry will remain steadfast.

There is always something to be watched in Kerry’s day. And though she is often out consorting with friends, she think nothing of stopping indoors and watching EastEnders and Love Island ((“How good is Love Island?!”).

But not watching not the X Factor, which is the pits…
