New MoD Army Can Balance The Books

THE Ministry of Defence paid out £78million in compensation and legal fees for the year 2005-06.

The Telegraph says the money settled claims persued by civilian staff and service personnel injured on MoD time.

Of this, £8.28m went on death and serious injury claims from Iraqi civilians.

It’s a lot of money. But it’s not all bad. Factor in the £80,000 paid to Faye Turney by the Sun and Tonight With Trevor McDonald and the undisclosed sum Arthur Batchelor scored for telling his story to the Mirror and the MoD’s pen pushers should not be too downhearted…
