Madeleine McCann: Watching The Parents
MORE no news on the Madeleine McCann case.
It is now a week since the three-year-old girl was snatched from a Portugal holiday resort.
The story has been distressing to watch on our TV screens. What it must like for the parents of Madeleine only a few can know.
BLAME
But their misery is far from complete. With no news of Madeleine, and the Portuguese police having no need to indulge the British tabloids with speculation and theory, Madeleine’s parents are the central characters.
And today’s front-page news, as reported by the caring Mirror, is: “THEY KNOW LEAVING KIDS WAS WRONG.”
Does the Mirror mean to say that Madeleine’s parents, Kate and Gerry, now think they did the wrong thing in nipping out for a bite to eat and leaving the children in the apartment on what they thought was a secure resort?
Does the Mirror mean that the McCanns know that popping back regularly to look at their children and checking on their well being was less than perfect?
Does the Mirror mean that the McCanns realise they should not have left their children alone, just like it is wrong to leave a child in a hotel under the auspices of a baby monitoring service, to leave a child in the car while mum goes to pay for petrol, to talk to a neighbour over a garden fence while the children are indoors?
Of course this is not the Mirror’s view. Oh, no. This is Madeleine’s grandmother, Susan Healy, saying: “They know this was a mistake. But it wasn’t child neglect, it wasn’t not caring for your children.”
That she feels the need to say this is wrong. That the Mirror can lead with Madeleine’s grief-worn parents is pathetic and misguided. That the paper can talk of “people are asking why they didn’t make use of the crèche” at the resort or take the children out to dinner with them is wrong.
But the Mirror has news to write. And the police aren’t playing the game.
THEORIES
So the Mirror produces: “THE 6 THEORIES.”
Only six! Why this cautious approach? But it is all the Mirror has. And readers hear of the “PAEDOPHILE GANG”, the “LONE PAEDOPHILE”, the “JEALOUS MOTHER”, Madeleine wandering off and “DROWNED”, the “OPPORTUNIST PAEDOPHILE”, the “CHILDLESS COUPLE”.
But the Sun has more. It has 130 more. As the front-page headline screams: “MADDIE COPS HUNT 130 BRIT PAEDOS.”
The paper says “at least” 130 British paedophiles “might” have taken Madeleine McCann.
In “ALGARVE IS ‘HAVEN’ FOR PERVS”, readers learn that Portugal is a “magnet for sun-seeking perverts from Britain and the rest of Europe”.
Who knew that perverts get off on watching children at the beach?
Us And Them
But help is on its way. The Sun lists the British coppers who will go out there and see to it that justice is done. We, says the paper, are the only country with a sex offenders’ register.
All convicted perverts must inform the police of their desire to go abroad. At least 130 have. And the police are looking for them.
But – and whisper this – might it be that convicted sexual deviants don’t all tell the police what they plan to do? They are not monitored while overseas. And might it be that not all sexual predators are caught and make it to the list?
Among the policemans’ names is Detective Superintendent Graham Hill, attached to theChild Exploitation and Protection Centre. Hill is on the case. He has flown to Portugal.
Hill worked on the case of Milly Dowler. She was snatched from near Walton railway station, Surrey, in 2002. Her body was found six months later. Her killer or killers have never been caught.
Perhaps Hill’s experiences can help. Perhaps he’ll have more luck. Perhaps not.
Meanwhile, a family is distraught, and bearing up incredibly well under the strain and the merciless gaze of the newspapers…

GERRY and Kate McCann will personally appeal to the British Government for help this week after forensic scientists began to cast doubt on some of the evidence against them.
The McCanns will approach David Miliband, Britain’s Foreign Secretary, asking him to intervene in the case of their missing daughter Madeleine amid growing fears that they might become the victims of a “shocking injustice”.
(quoted from the Independant.ie)
The search foe the so called “man” seen by a witness (not ver y realiable) means the police would have to search 90% of portuguese men ? Get it ? It is easy to point a description like that, the witness saw NOTHING!
If the DNA found in the car was from Maddie’s belongings after the transport to the other apartament when they moved, so why did they scent “death” ? And why did the portuguese dogs, much before the english dogs, scent the smell of MAddie the 4th May in a second apartment ? Why do the Mccanns say they will proceed looking for their daughter (alive) and then Kate say the police is framing her by suggesting she can be the killer. She was also “schocked” because the police asked the questions with absolute “certainty”, well if the police acted certain and convinced….everybody seems to be concentrating on the DNA results, but they only come to confirm what the police supects since day 4 (7 th May). The main reason they are suspects is because their explanations don’t match in any way… nor the ones from their friends (so the story needs to be a little more cooked between them, better in England…) and they failed to answer about 40 questions, that….if they were innocent… they could answer…get it ?
But more results are to arrive, moer persons to listen..let’s wait.
Justice for Madeleine is all that we can ask.

-Me:What questions coul Kate not answer about Madeleine?
Could not the DNA found in the car be from Madeleine’s belongings that they moved from the OC to the rented villa.
Why has there been no real search of the ‘man’ seen on the evening of her disappearance? - I have read on other websites that this man was spotted by lots of people who phoned the police - not just Jane Tanner.
Why did the dogs only trace Madeleine’s last steps(?) to the supermarket?
Why did the local police make a pigs ear of the crime scene at the beginning?
Working on what I have heard and read - and let’s face it - very few FACTS - IMO the McCanns are guilty of one thing - leaving their kids alone. I don’t believe they have killed Madeleine - either deliberate or accidental.
Even their Pope seems to have deserted them. Their picture was removed from his website on the day that Kate was charged. So much for compassion and forgiveness.
They probably have enough dirt on their hands with all the pedo. cases being brought against the catholic church - without damaging what is left of their reputation by having a possible mother ‘who kissed the holy see’s ring and MAY be involved in harming her daughter and duping the church and their religion.
IMO The Vatican should be hanging its head in shame.

Well, the Mccanns are now back to Rothley and will start to activate their “net” of contacts, including lawers, ministers, mayve the prime minister himself, embassies, everything to clear their names as quickly as they can. But one thing I don’t understand…being an “arguido” does not mean ou name is “dirty”…it only means that there are some suspicions and lots of unanswered questions. Like Kate for example could not really answer many obvious questions about Madeleine that night, and if Kate was innocent she would have answered. The police let her watch videos of the investigation, the dogs, etc…and there was no reaction or explanation for many strange things. The DNA found was very damaged but even that way it was almost 76% matching Madeleine’s. They did not refer it was from blood in the car, people think that is strange because the car was rented 25 days after…but the DNA found means that something from Madeleine (dead Madeleine) was inside that car, could be a hair, a piece of cloth, or herself.
Well, now at least they are at home, they can relax and think their strategies all over again, and plan the next moves, which obviously include “start moving the pawns…” in England. And they also can talk without fear of being heard, humm, how knows if their house is not being investigated too, their phones…hum, satellites all over the place, one can use Google Earth so well….we never know if this “letting go with the authorities agreement” has a little touch of tactics.
Meanwhile the investigations will continue…maybe better without them here, now the police has the space and all time of the world to make their moves…to whereever they think they must go.
Poor Maddie, how unlucky she was by being born in such a careless family and now everybody is felling sorry for her parents, poor things, they left her alone, she was dead somehow, but even that way an abductor came and took her! The police is certain she is dead but they have to maintain their story and being in England they can spread their tactics to the poor believers of their crap, feed the crouds with nonsense and ludicrous theories…
Little Madeleine will never be found and her parents are the greatest clowns on Earth, so cold heart and calculated, they will never confess although we know that they know it all, just by looking into some of the evidence and their behaviour. If at least it would be possible to contact little Maddie somehow…as catholics some believe there is life after death

Was there ever ANY evidence? What came of that search and arrest business in the UK? What happen to something happening in 48 hours? The only think that happen is the Mccanns went home!!
Am looking forward to seeing what happens NOW

They ruled out her being dumped at sea at the beginning not sure why something about the way the tides worked or something meaning the body would have been washed up on shore within hours.
Is this another blunder by the Portugal police again, then again if you took a body far enough out then it would maybe be consumed before being found but then the McCann’s didn’t have a boat did they or the time, so it couldn’t have been them.
All these theories are great but remember their is a time line to go by unless you are saying that all of the people in the restaurant are lying about what happened that night, then if you was a friend of the McCann’s or just someone having a holiday in the same place as them, would you lie no matter how close a friend I could not risk losing my own family for an accident or put my freedom at risk.
Its understandable you all saying the McCann’s may have done this but too many other people were involved, its not plausible.
I still say the police are just looking for a scape goat now, the people in Portugal have said they just want this case closed and get on with life. well it cant be closed till the truth comes out and Madeleine or at least her body is found.

We are still getting people suggesting that psychics should be brought in. Let’s get this straight: Psychics never, ever, solve crimes, and never have, whatever they themselves may claim. Next thing, someone will suggest dangling a pendulum over a map!
September 9th, 2007 at 10:44 am
The sea is a self cleaning entity!, just think how many people died in the Indonesian Tsunami, and how few people were washed up on shore’s.
it would not take long for every trace of maddie to be consumed.
when people go missing at sea in this area it is usally scraps of clothing that lead to identifications and possible scenarios if maddie was stripped before being discarded then it would take approx 6 hours for the local marine wildlife to consume her totally.
September 9th, 2007 at 3:47 am
IMO if Kate is responsible for Maddie’s disappearance then they would of put her some place that they have gone back to over and over. Some place they would feel CLOSE to her. I believe they would of “hid” her body BEFORE yelling that they took her. If she is dead, i dont think they will find a body, i believe they tossed her in the sea.
September 9th, 2007 at 2:49 am
I believe that if the police go back to the very beginning and re interview all the McCann’s friends again - then spread outwards with their investigation, they may find something they have overlooked.
September 9th, 2007 at 12:38 am
Me and Alice
can you explain how it is easy to hide a body ? although Madeleine is small the smell of a decaying body is not easily hidden.
surely the dogs if they found the dna in the car and the apartment and led the police to the carpark, wouldnt have missed the church just because its a church.
I would love to hear the end to this case and that they find Madeleine but i dont think this is it, if they had all of the evidence they claim to have then surely the McCanns wouldnt be suspects they would be charged.
I am not a detective so i am waiting to see what becomes of the McCanns, If this is all true and they have done what they say then i hope they stop the farse now and give that little girl the rest of the the family the peace she and they deserve.
If they are guilty also how many of the party at the table are in on this i just cant see other people protecting the McCanns and risking thier own freedom and family.

On behalf of Amazed I now declare this forum closed to any future postings until arrest and trial is completed. I apologise for any of you who had an opinion or theory you wanted to express.
September 8th, 2007 at 11:29 pm
ME - You have opened my eyes with your comments. I did not know that they had to key to the church - but if she did disappear on that night - then the parents would not have had the key then - would they? There would have been some time - maybe a few days inbetween and if it were the case that she had died on the night in question - where would they have been able to hide her inbetween the disappearance and getting the key? Of course there is a possibility of moving a small body without much luggage - but even with “celeb” status, the luggage of Gerry would have gone through the scanners at the airport - just like any other passenger - and it would surely have shown up. Even hand luggage is scanned. The church is an obvious hiding place - and it is true that they have spent some time (each day I think one report said) - of course people would respect their need for isolation and it is very possible that they have spent many hours in total alone in the church. Maybe the police will be able to check for dna and forensic evidence in the Church if this line of enquiry continues
September 8th, 2007 at 11:02 pm
Speaking personally, it’s not a question now of who is guilty and who is not, since nobody knows. Only that nobody (us) outside the police investigation (PJ and Brits) can possibly have a credible, concrete theory, and we have no way of really knowing anything at all - only media-assisted speculation, and I don’t attach much credibility to that.
Current events have much to do with the Portuguese idea of how to deal with crime, and how we elsewhere interpret that i.e. what exactly is an ‘arguido’?. Many people here have criticized the Portuguese legal approach, but I actually think it has a lot going for it. Nobody should release evidence to do with a crime in an ideal world. But we don’t live in one, and experience in other countries has shown in that recruiting the public can help in these cases. Maybe Portugal, an erstwhile safe place maybe, has some catching up to do in terms of forensics and child disappearance. How sad, and yet not their fault, probably. And how tragic for Madeleine.
I just think that anyone with any intelligence at all would hold fire on all their pet theories in the face of these extraordinary developments, go quiet, and just wait. For a long time, I think. Nobody’s going to be charged tomorrow, and convicted next week - with all the evidence satisfyingly in the public domain.

Hi, again
I believe that soon we will find out what happened to Madeleine, Pj already had hints on death since day 4… in the apartment, they only have to put all the puzzle pieces together. About hidding a body, so tiny one, it would not be dificult, I know this hurts us, being parents or not, but consider that she might have died of an accident. And like others have said before, parents had a problem…the other children, their carriers, their lifes, the caldol night, or other sedative found in Maddies’ system could really put them into trouble. So it was much easy to cook a story that fits perfectly in a foreign country and in a place (Algarve) full of tourist from all over the world. So, hidding was the next step, it really must have required a big deal of cold heart to do that… and maybe with the help of some friends, so I think not only Gerry and Kate are in trouble, others are too, and it is not Robert Murat. Since the early days they have the key to the church…which is really near where they were staying…so that they could pray anytime they wanted…this is not very normal…and the church is a sacred place where nobody went search, nor the dogs, of course. Churches have basements…and lots of other hidden places, so that would be a place to choose. Later on they could move it outside, maybe by car, bags, suitcases, they all must be considered, and of course Gerry’s travels too, as a VIP maybe he was never checked at customs. This is terrible I know, so weird and unhuman, but we’ve seen similar cases. Sorry for the idea, I know it hurts, especialli those who think the Mccanns are victims, but it is only another suggestion. I really don’t care, the only thing is that I wanted Madeleine back, alive or death, so that che can have justice and rest in peace.
September 8th, 2007 at 8:46 pm
A message to ‘James 1365′ If you feel people should stop commenting on this case and move on why on earth log on to a website the basis of which is to discuss the case? It’s a little bit like walking into a bakery and getting hacked off because peolple keep coming in to buy bread!
I know people who have donated significant sums of money to Maddies ‘appeal’, I know people who have commited Madeline’s name to prayer every night so her ‘abductors’ will bid her safe release.
I have watched the McCanns kiss the hand of the Pontiff himself, Pope Benedict and watch them ask for his prayers for Madeline.
Gerry McCann has popped up at the Edinburgh festival pleading for Maddie’s release, he has had the ear of Gordon Brown and that of George W Bush after visiting the US like some sort of ambassador.
I personally am rivetted not because I don’t have any other diversions in my life-I have plenty, but if the McCanns are guilty their bare-faced scheming, lies, arrogance and international subterfuge are without parallel in modern crime history.
If guilty they should locked up for good and I for one don’t want to miss a second of the judicial trial that will surely follow.
Vote with your feet James and cease logging on if you are bored.
September 8th, 2007 at 2:37 pm
The police have the DNA info and did say there would be something happening in 48 hours…well the 48 hours are winding down.
I think they need to watch fail Kate…..if she has something to do with Maddie’s disappearance…..she may snap
September 8th, 2007 at 2:32 pm
Thank you my son. Now maybe you will be kinder to other posters.
You aren’t always as right as you think you are.
September 8th, 2007 at 2:30 pm
I really cant understand how or where the McCanns could have possibly hid a body, then how they moved it.
I think that they are just hoping that they will confess i think the police in portugaul are actually reading this forum as they have gone through most of the thoeries that have been said on here.
I feel that the case was a no go from the beginning as the evidence was messed up they had no idea how to deal with a crime like this and now they are trying to close the case by blaming anyone the parents will do.
I wonder how much damage has been caused to the tourist trade due to this wouldnt you want to get the case closed.

“Amazed has been on a murder jury everyone. Based on this we must listen. Anyone who had an opinion which contradicts Amazed views must feel pretty silly now!!!!!
So annoying that you idiots are trying to make your opinions more credible for the most ridiculous of reasons.
I am not a catholic, an ex detective, body language expert, the cousin of a judge, a writer for scooby doo etc. I am a parent and a good one at that. For this reason alone I have suspected Kate and Gerry from their very first TV appearance.
The stubborn or just brain dead who are still backing the McCanns to prove their innocence and who think its all a set up will soon need to take a look at themselves and question their judgement.”
What you’re saying is amazed is wrong and you are right - so we should all listen to you -right?
Keep your ‘idiot’ ideas for yourself. You are going to be looking pretty stupid when the real truth comes out.

OK all you armchair sleuths, judge-and-jury, “There! What did I tell you?” brigades …
- if the PJ knew definitely that it was Madeleine’s blood in the boot of the hire car, then they’d hardly be trying to bully a confession, they’d simply charge her;
- if the cadaver dog found traces of the scent of a corpse on Kate’s clothes, why didn’t it apparently find the same in the boot of the hire car, where it would have been very strong, and not subject to washing like clothes are;
- Kate says she was in contact with 6 corpses in the UK before the holiday which could explain the cadaver dog’s findings. She must have washed the clothes several times, and if the scent survives that then there must be hundreds of thousands of people wandering around smelling of corpses (if you’re a cocker spaniel), including the entire Health service, police, all undertakers, quite a few firemen, priests, and anyone who’s tended a dying relative. The dog would be barking at nearly everyone, including obviously, Kate;
I’ve been on a murder jury and I can tell you that this sort of evidence i.e. what has been leaked so far, wouldn’t have convicted Dr. Crippen, never mind Dr. McCann. Self-composed women always do badly at the hands of the public media - think of Lindy Chamberlain, Joanne Lees etc. Unless you scream, weep and collapse then you are probably guilty, so the public think. However, there are plenty of occasions where collapsing and weeping parents made public appeals on TV for the guilty to give themselves up, only to be convincingly convicted later.
Parents are always the first line of suspicion in cases of child death, but it just so happens that the PJ have taken rather longer than others might have to pursue this line, and that their arguido system for the protection of suspects means that we are possibly reading far more into all this than necessary.
And I wouldn’t hold my breath for the promised revelations nailing their guilt - it’d prejudice any trial, if it ever came to that. You are all at the very least a year away from any proof being made public, and I cannot believe even you can keep up the speculation for that length of time.
September 8th, 2007 at 7:32 am
IMO the guilt and remorse they have is that they left her alone in the first place.
IMO The PJ dish out to the public what suits them.
I don’t believe for a moment that Kate did anything to harm Madeleine - IMO it’s a set up.
September 8th, 2007 at 5:47 am
The theory that this could be an elaborate hoax to enable the McCanns to acquire large amounts of money seems too far-fetched. Similarly, the lack of evidence and/or intelligence makes me doubt that she was abducted by either a paedophile (ring) or a person(s) wishing to obtain a child of their own.
Sean or Amelie would been more obvious choices for the sick individuals who would want to abduct children, as they would have considerably less memory than Madeleine, be more easily portable and less likely to wake from a deep sleep.
In my opinion, only one (almost unthinkable) option remains as to Madeleine’s fate, and I sincerely hope the Portuguese police have sufficient evidence to lay their cards on the table in the very near future so that we can allow this beautiful child to rest in peace.
The McCann’s are clearly suffering, but I fear that suffering may be borne of guilt and remorse rather than grief and frustration.
I hope I am wrong and that Madeleine will be found safe and well, but I think that after such a long time it is naive to expect a joyful outcome.
September 8th, 2007 at 3:43 am
wow…Gerry had time to post in his blog? with all the interviewing him and Kate have gone thru? (oh and his interview was longer…do we care?) You would think he would take a break from rambling on and hope and pray that Kate had nothing to do with Maddie’s death or should i say disappearance…But then again…if she did…he already knows.
Cant believe all the news about Kate here in the states….

Sue 1390. I have printed the number as I know there are different Sue’s on the site.
“If I knew that telling the truth would result in losing my other two children into care, I would lie, to the whole world if needs be. I said a while back the parents knew more than they were saying. Having worked with parents on the edge, they will do anything to keep their families together. I do not blame either Kate or Gerry for what they have done, but they have to live for ever with what has happened to their first born. I am sure we have all done something we bitterly regret. As a Catholic myself, I know that they are going through all kinds of torment”
As an EX- Catholic myself.
Your words speak volumes! Its okay to break the 10 commandments - as long as you go to confession. “I’m sure we have all done something we bitterly regret” ??????
Well, you may have.. dont tar the rest of us with the same brush.
If you want to ‘feel’ for someone.
Then add your prayers for the 17 month old baby who was tortured by her ’step-mother” while her father stood back and did nothing.
They have just been jailed for 9 years.
9!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Years — where is the JUSTICE for THAT CHILD????
Save your prayers for someone who really needs them.
September 8th, 2007 at 1:30 am
A question for Sue-’Do you truly mean that you do not blame the McCanns for what they have done!!??’. First they leave their three child unattended whilst out partying, one child dies. They realise they are culpable and may lose the twins so they cook up one of the most elaborate stories in recent crime history to bamboozle the police which includes: Probably burying poor little Maddie in some Godforsaken wasteland of a final grave without a proper headstone to mark her final resting place (the worst insult to a soul deceased), stand by and happily let Robert Murat take the rap knowing full well this man could have gone to jail for the rest of his life and suffered who-knows-what in some harsh Portuguese prison, travelled the world like dignatories even kissing the hand of the Pope himself as part of their tissue of lies, threaten to take a Portuguese newspaper to court for reporting what now appears to be the truth, set up a fund that has ostensibly cheated people (some of which who have not two brass farthings to rub together) out of their hard-earned money to the tune of over £1 million-shall I go on? These people have allegedly dedicated their lives to helping and healing the sick and dying, they are well remunerated and and respected for it, if they can’t do the right thing then who can we rely on or believe in? Gerry has always cut an arrogant, almost scornful figure, he reminds me of Dostoyevsky’s character Raskolnikov in the novel ‘Crime and Punishment’ who feels because he is educated and cleverer than average he should be allowed to literally get away with murder. This is what sickens me above all else in this macabre tale. A question Sue - If you were Robert Murat and were close to being sent down for the McCann’s spectacular pack of lies would you remain so supportive? I shall put your comments down to the fact that they were posted late at night and you had probably just come back from the pub. If you wrote them in full sobriety then you make me ashamed to be a human being.
September 8th, 2007 at 12:58 am
“as a Catholic myself! ” - Just what kind of a statement is that - Does it give the Catholics in this world some insight ?? You are hypothetically just as bad as the McCanns if you can justify them lying and connig the public out of over one million pounds - just to save their own backs. If all of the accusations are proved to be true - they do not deserve to keep the other two children and the children certainly do not deserve to be hooked up for life to two con merchants who put their own reputations before the welfare of their offspring
September 8th, 2007 at 12:28 am
the mcCanns are doctors, good people, salt of the earth,
lets face it the parents know more than they are saying.
oh by the the way what was that other doc called halrod shpi**
