Madeleine McCann: Watching The Parents
MORE no news on the Madeleine McCann case.
It is now a week since the three-year-old girl was snatched from a Portugal holiday resort.
The story has been distressing to watch on our TV screens. What it must like for the parents of Madeleine only a few can know.
BLAME
But their misery is far from complete. With no news of Madeleine, and the Portuguese police having no need to indulge the British tabloids with speculation and theory, Madeleine’s parents are the central characters.
And today’s front-page news, as reported by the caring Mirror, is: “THEY KNOW LEAVING KIDS WAS WRONG.”
Does the Mirror mean to say that Madeleine’s parents, Kate and Gerry, now think they did the wrong thing in nipping out for a bite to eat and leaving the children in the apartment on what they thought was a secure resort?
Does the Mirror mean that the McCanns know that popping back regularly to look at their children and checking on their well being was less than perfect?
Does the Mirror mean that the McCanns realise they should not have left their children alone, just like it is wrong to leave a child in a hotel under the auspices of a baby monitoring service, to leave a child in the car while mum goes to pay for petrol, to talk to a neighbour over a garden fence while the children are indoors?
Of course this is not the Mirror’s view. Oh, no. This is Madeleine’s grandmother, Susan Healy, saying: “They know this was a mistake. But it wasn’t child neglect, it wasn’t not caring for your children.”
That she feels the need to say this is wrong. That the Mirror can lead with Madeleine’s grief-worn parents is pathetic and misguided. That the paper can talk of “people are asking why they didn’t make use of the crèche” at the resort or take the children out to dinner with them is wrong.
But the Mirror has news to write. And the police aren’t playing the game.
THEORIES
So the Mirror produces: “THE 6 THEORIES.”
Only six! Why this cautious approach? But it is all the Mirror has. And readers hear of the “PAEDOPHILE GANG”, the “LONE PAEDOPHILE”, the “JEALOUS MOTHER”, Madeleine wandering off and “DROWNED”, the “OPPORTUNIST PAEDOPHILE”, the “CHILDLESS COUPLE”.
But the Sun has more. It has 130 more. As the front-page headline screams: “MADDIE COPS HUNT 130 BRIT PAEDOS.”
The paper says “at least” 130 British paedophiles “might” have taken Madeleine McCann.
In “ALGARVE IS ‘HAVEN’ FOR PERVS”, readers learn that Portugal is a “magnet for sun-seeking perverts from Britain and the rest of Europe”.
Who knew that perverts get off on watching children at the beach?
Us And Them
But help is on its way. The Sun lists the British coppers who will go out there and see to it that justice is done. We, says the paper, are the only country with a sex offenders’ register.
All convicted perverts must inform the police of their desire to go abroad. At least 130 have. And the police are looking for them.
But – and whisper this – might it be that convicted sexual deviants don’t all tell the police what they plan to do? They are not monitored while overseas. And might it be that not all sexual predators are caught and make it to the list?
Among the policemans’ names is Detective Superintendent Graham Hill, attached to theChild Exploitation and Protection Centre. Hill is on the case. He has flown to Portugal.
Hill worked on the case of Milly Dowler. She was snatched from near Walton railway station, Surrey, in 2002. Her body was found six months later. Her killer or killers have never been caught.
Perhaps Hill’s experiences can help. Perhaps he’ll have more luck. Perhaps not.
Meanwhile, a family is distraught, and bearing up incredibly well under the strain and the merciless gaze of the newspapers…

Excuse the pun, but I just think its a load of rubbish. With everything going on, and the apartment must have been serviced, why go to a dump.
September 20th, 2007 at 7:23 pm
I’m sure there is a simple way for the police to check the trash info out. Just go to the apartment manager and ask about trash collection.
Just seems strange to me, I’m sure the Mccanns paid a nice chunk of change to stay in that apartment. They were on Holiday. The apartment has to have somewhere for the tenants to dispose of their trash i would think. Just seems odd that someone on Holiday would have to haul it off some place instead of using some sort of trash container right at the apartment? Where did they take it, an actually dump?
When it is hot, it doesnt take trash long to smell bad. Did they drive around with it for a while?
No one knows but the Mccanns.

If they went to the tip to dump the dirty nappies and old meat, with the tracking on the car and the mobile phones, it will be proved whether they went to a tip.
I think it will be better that all investigation work will be carried out silently until their is more evidence its a far better strategy.
If they are innocent, they should be happy that the police are covering every angle with no stone unturned.

Looks like the words that the police or media have been telling the world that Kate said when returning finding Madeliene missing was another “mistake”.
She didnt say “they have taken her” she said “Madeliene has gone she has gone” that is from an eye witness in the tapas bar that night, who was not connected to the McCann party. They also said that Kate and Gerry had been so visibly horrified that it was impossible they could have been acting.
Looks like all witnesses can see how the secrecy law is being broken by the portuguese and are now leaking evidence too its about time we start getting some truths all these lies and mistakes are causing people to condem them as Guilty.

Anyone who thinks that if you’re innocent, you’ve nothing to fear, and that you don’t need the best possible legal representation you can muster, has clearly never had to deal with the police - here in the UK or anywhere. And actually, if you ask the police privately, they’ll tell you the same thing. Get yourself a brief, especially if you’re innocent. That’s not because the police are corrupt, but just because events overtake everyone, and court procedures are the province of the highly trained. And if I were in the McCann’s shoes - surely worse shoes than any of us can possibly imagine - I’d be hiring anyone and everyone I could. Innocent or guilty.
Re ‘evidence’ - the McCann’s say they had to transport household rubbish in the Renault Scenic because of a lack of collection, so therefor the forensic evidence is unreliable. Easy enough to check, I’d have thought, so not too much of a problem.
Re satellites, someone over the weekend who works in the British security services wrote in The Times that the evidence is out there, if someone will just ask for it … and whatever the McCann’s did (or didn’t do) will be visible. Broadening the discussion, how do you feel about that? Personally, I’m glad I’m getting old. I don’t want to live in Orwell’s 1984. Do you want to give up all your personal privacy to battle littering, not having tax on the car, so-called feral hoodies, terrorism at its present level etc. When it doesn’t even seem to work that well in practice, or even be admissible in court? (Mind you, that will soon change).
Do you want to be a good person because that is your personal, ethical choice .. or do you want to live in a society where people are ‘good’ because if they’re not, they’ll be caught through technological monitoring and forensics. I don’t suppose there’s a choice really now. Sad, for the future of mankind. You have to take human chances to make human progress, and living in a truly human society means that terrible things will occasionally happen, regrettably.

I was curious to see this headline when looking up any new news on Madeleine
Man claiming to know the whereabouts of Madeleine McCann is arrested in the Netherlands for attempting to defraud the parents of the missing girl. …
When i clicked on the article, i would it was old news from JULY 7th?!?!?
I guess life will go on and one day we may hear some NEW and ACCURATE news related to this lil girl.
September 20th, 2007 at 3:31 pm
Humm, maybe because there were no leaks ? I mean everything that was written always says “police sources”, “official sources”, we can imagine that the newspapers and TVs can “make up” news and “guess” news, so that they can sell.
Everybody talks about DNA in the car, what if it was not in the car and it was in another apartment ?
Everybody talks about hair in the car, what if the hair was in a suitcase?
We don’t know, all the information may be twisted, the evidence found may be correct when referring to “DNA”, “Body Fluids”, “hair”, “scent of death” but let’s imagine that the PLACES where these were found are not correct…
I believe the two polices working together will arrive somewhere, I believe they know much more than they can tell and not telling (yet) is the best… silence and underground work are the best for the moment. So, that everybody thinks they are going another way or are stopped………………………
September 20th, 2007 at 2:25 pm
No probably not…But one would think that on the FIND MADELEINE Website, people would actually take the time to spell the child’s name correctly.
The Mccanns seem to be worried about their reputation right now. Announcing a new spokesman and finding lawyers able to prove them innocent.
Maybe if they would not of left their small children alone night after night to go out drinking with friends, more people would think of them as grieving parents and not parents that may have been involved in their daughter’s disappearance and possibly her death.
I can only hope they are not involved. Only time will tell (maybe)
September 20th, 2007 at 2:15 pm
“They actually spelled Madeleine’s name wrongly”. So did you, Star. I don’t think this actually matters so very much, given that few people here seem able to spell, except for posssibly the grieving (innocent?) parents. (No, I’ve not made up my mind, I prefer to wait upon events … but I believe in innocence being the default postition).
I’ve NEVER read so much speculative rubbish in my life. So HOW did they do it, given the surveillance? Not impossible, probably, but hugely unlikely, and none of YOU can say how it happened. The only thing we can all probably agree upon is that poor little Madeleine is dead, and we do not know how this happened.
September 20th, 2007 at 2:07 pm
Another person that agrees with me and has nearly the same name
I think the truth will come out soon and that the McCanns will be left to carry on with the most important thing and that is finding Madeliene.
September 20th, 2007 at 1:54 pm
a note from the blog…
16 September, ROTHLEY –16 September, ROTHLEY – Speaking after attending mass at his local church this morning, Gerry McCann commented:
“It was very comforting to be among friends and family, praying for Madeline today. We thank them for their continued support”
Kate and Gerry McCann attended the regular Sunday morning service at 11am at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rothley.
The service included a special bidding prayer for Madeline, which has been said at every service since she went missing.
Wonder who types these…..they actually spelled Maddie’s name wrong!!

hi Redhat
sorry, i wasn’t pointing at you.. its just that some many lies have come out of portugal and this is a big mess. i dont think the mccanns have harmed their daughter. they were wrong to leave them alone, i will agree with anyone on that. but i feel as if they are fighting for their lives. the portugese police seem hell bent on ‘framing’ them for the loss of their daughter.
i think they feel lots of remorse about leaving Madeleine and the world has judged them for that - quite rightly, but they must be distraught that they may be ‘tried for her possible death.’ and i agree ‘oh’ gerry wouldn’t have left his wallet in that room unlocked. i just think this is soooo sad and madeleine is still missing with no clues.
brendan, if scotland yard were working so close, how come the portugese press allowed all the leaks? and then change the rules? i think the man who is the expert on DNA will prove that all these theories are rubbish.
September 20th, 2007 at 1:33 pm
Basic facts
The Mccann’s should not be trusted with kids as they left three of them to fend for themselves. (don’t give me that garden crap they were left)
They and their friends did not help the police by all giving differnt accounts of events!
They did not help Maddie with the huge media campaign. (think about it if you took a child and that child was all over the press. I imagine you would panic and get rid)
Nobody can tell if they are more involved, however I think in our heart of hearts we think Maddie is dead. The parents can mope about all they like it won’t help, and the majority of decent people will think they are horrible people for leaving three kids alone at night…..
Last thought would Gerry have left his wallet in that room unlocked??
September 20th, 2007 at 1:29 pm
Lets not forget that we have had a team of Scotland Yard detectives working alongside the Portuguese Police throughout the investigation and they have been assisting the Portuguese and monitoring the investigations.
Lets not forget either that the forensic evidence has been discovered and proven by British forensic science laboratories.
I believe our police doesn’t need to go to Portugal to get answers… I believe the remaining answers in UK, as well as 2 of the 3 formal suspects…
September 20th, 2007 at 1:25 pm
Star I agree with you. I dont know a lot about sniffer dogs but they would make so many mistakes if they detect rotten meat and mistake it for a corpse (which the McCanns say was in the boot with the nappies as they were taking household rubbish to the tip). Sniffer dogs regularly trawl through woodland and are able to distinguish between dead animals and dead humans.
I cant believe that two doctors would transport dirty diapers and rotten meat in the heat of a Portuguese summer? Hello? Someone should check the tip to see if there is any McCann waste there. There would have been a risk of infection for anyone using the car and you d think they would have made sure that the bin liners were secure - still, it wasnt their car so they probably didnt care, as with the children.
I read yesterday that two profiling experts are watching them carefully and a very suspicous about their behaviour and it is thought that they may have accidently killed Madeleine with an overdose and are now in such shock they are launching themselves into a huge media campaign to cover their tracks and to focus upon to take their minds of the awful truth. seems reasonable to me.
Ive always thought the McCanns were not guilty but something isnt right. Imagine transporting the kids clothes and belongings in the boot of a car which is also used for dirty nappies and household waste? Hello?
September 20th, 2007 at 1:21 pm
Kate and Gerry McCann believe that their mobile telephones were bugged by Portuguese police when they were in the Algarve - and fear the tapping has continued since their return to Britain.
Sources close to the family say the couple are convinced that questions put to them during police interviews were based on information gleaned from their private conversations.
Gerry and Kate McCann have become virtual prisoners in their home since returning to Britain, because of the media presence
They have now told family members to be careful what they say over the telephone as it is thought all conversations could be recorded as potential evidence.
**This is why i still have doubts about the Mccanns. If they are innocent and have dont nothing wrong. Why are they worried about what family may say on the phone?
If Kate is not involved, them all they would hear is a mommy grieving for her missing daughter.
September 20th, 2007 at 1:21 pm
Hi, greenhat
I never said the Mccanns are guilty, I was just stating what people have been saying and it seems the police in Leicester feels the same. It is on The Times…
Everybody is innocent until guilt can have enough evidence to convict someone, most people think they may be overracting to things that are probably not true and would be better if quiet and calm. Because for a great number of people this behaviour and the high profile campaign in the media is showing that they really have something to hide, and may turn against them. Not me saying that… my conclusion from what I read and listen. As for myself I am in the middle, with many doubts, I find it hard to believe someone could do something to a child (any child) left alone our child… but the world and reality unfortunately shows us other examples, so I don’t know, I’m not a judge, and everyone is innocent until
September 20th, 2007 at 12:59 pm
If the Mccanns are innocent (still guilty of child neglect) then God help them. This whole case sounds like a bad movie. Only difference is this is real life and there is a real innocent missing (presumed dead by many) child.
You have to wonder why the Mccanns do some of things they do and they cant speak but their friends and family sure have alot to say. Wonder if there is more evidence on them? They seem to be worried? If they were innocent would they be worried? Read one headline that said the Mccann house could hold answers.
Now they say they talk about Madeleine to the twins while they play with Maddie’s toys(in Portugal they had them leaving food for her) They dont hid things from them? PLEASE, in the beginning they said they told them (2 yr olds?) that she was on Holiday. Sorry but i dont believe she is on Holiday where ever she is. She is the victim, the one I pray for.
I still find the dirty diapers and sweat from her sandle far fetched.
September 20th, 2007 at 12:46 pm
Has it occurred to you that the McCanns may be innocent? and if police in leicester aren’t happy with the media the mccanns are getting - they should get off their backsides and get over to Portugal and get some answers.
September 20th, 2007 at 12:43 pm
The behaviour unheard of in Southern India maybe - but in northern india they dump them anywhere - especially girls. outrageous.
September 20th, 2007 at 11:54 am
TO MARLENE;
funny and interesting, I also live in Southern India and I totally agree with your friend in all points. This behaviour would be unheard of here, leaving the kids alone.
Yes, I also hope for a fast closure.
September 20th, 2007 at 11:20 am
Hi,
I read that for now the police has no more questions since the investigations did not find any new evidence after the Mccanns were made formal suspects. That may bring some relief to the Mccanns or…is the police taking it easy, waiting for the other forensic results and see how they react?
Maybe after all they do not need all those high profile defenders, maybe they are just overreacting to all the speculation in the media. Above all, nobody knows if there was any truth on what was published and the claims that information came from police leaks is also unreliable. And if so, what if the Mccanns have been overreacting to lies and by this incriminating themselves ?
Maybe they are innocent, so they do not need such a campaign… but if they are not… I also read that police in Leicester are not very “happy” with this media campaign, they should remain quiet and calm, if they are innocent, the all story will be clear soon…
September 20th, 2007 at 10:26 am
These doubts are always in my mind…
Why need such high profile defenders if your story is true?
Why the fear of further questions, which they refused to answer? Why the need to invent defence arguments if you are innocent?
September 20th, 2007 at 8:58 am
Star : as you have said that there was no way it could have been from the sandals or the nappies, then how did they move her body or even hide her body.
Instead of looking for how the evidence is credible look at how they and there friends managed to do all of this, while they were under close survaliance every move they made was being watched from the 3rd of may by satalite so it says in another report.
So which part of the media reports have you all chosen to listen to and which have you all decided to forget.
It seems that you all are wanting the McCanns to be found guilty even if they are innocent, I want them to pay if they done it, but i am looking at the whole story and not just part and the evidence keeps changing even the judge has said they are not going to requestion the McCanns at the moment due to not enough evidence. My gut feeling told me at the biggining that something was not quite right about this case but i dont know if it is the McCanns or the way the case has been handled. At this time i go with the way the case is being handled.

Hi Everyone
I sent information, press clips and postings on to my friend Dr Ann who lives in S. India and works as a medical doctor at the world famous Vellore Hospital. Dr Ann was awarded “India’s Best Medical Student” when she qualified some years ago in Southern India. This was her response to what she had read about Gerry & Kate McCann:
“Marlene, I read all the stuff you had sent me re: the McCann affair. I find it amazing that educated parents can leave a 4 yr old and 2 yr old kids alone in a place strange to them [or any where for that matter] with the door open [why ?] and go out for a meal. I find it hard to be sympathetic to them. They also raise money to find the child and spend it on going around places themselves to raise awareness? Nowadays, so much that the press writes is 1/2 truths, so we cant believe all we read in the papers. My “gut” wonder is whether the McCanns sedated the kids so they would sleep and let the parents have their night out and somehow overdosed the child Madeleine. In any case they have only themselves to blame. Sorry if I sound unsympathetic. I don’t really need any more info on this matter. bye, Dr Ann.”
Marlene says, I hope the McCanns are innocent or can prove their innocence beyond all reasonable doubt. I think Kate McCann if she is pursued any further by the police or anyone else about this case is likely to have a nervous breakdown or go insane. Please pray for the speedy closure of this sad case.
All the Best, Marlene
September 20th, 2007 at 3:17 am
Agreed. Surely people on here will look back and feel very ashamed at many of the things that they have said but most of all people have been duped by a media desperate to move the story on day by day.
September 20th, 2007 at 3:13 am
ok…i meant i find it odd…darn keyboard
and source
September 20th, 2007 at 3:12 am
I find it out the friends of the Mccanns, or a sourse close to the Mccanns has so much to say. The Mccanns keep saying they cannot talk about things due to a silence thing. Well, where are these other people gettin all their info?
September 20th, 2007 at 2:50 am
The salacious ‘proof’ is being discredited, piece by piece.
No surprise there. It was all a pack of lies, rumour, innuendo and pack mentality.
The truth will set them free.
JUST A MATTER OF TIME..
September 19th, 2007 at 11:39 pm
This man quit his job to stand beside the Mccanns? How is he gonna make a living now? Who is gonna pay his bills? Why would someone give up their career for someone that dont know that well? Does he have a wife, a family? Who will pay their bills?
The DNA came off the sandles? The family says it was sweat on her sandles that were placed in the spare tire compartment in the trunk? The sweat in the sandles would of been dry now so how did it drip off? First it’s the diapers? Who carries around dirty diapers? Everything in the trunk would of smelled bad.
I can see a hair or two from anyone in the family. But i think this is far fetched.
The said the dog got a hit and went crazy by the car? What over diapers?
