Madeleine McCann: Watching The Parents
MORE no news on the Madeleine McCann case.
It is now a week since the three-year-old girl was snatched from a Portugal holiday resort.
The story has been distressing to watch on our TV screens. What it must like for the parents of Madeleine only a few can know.
BLAME
But their misery is far from complete. With no news of Madeleine, and the Portuguese police having no need to indulge the British tabloids with speculation and theory, Madeleine’s parents are the central characters.
And today’s front-page news, as reported by the caring Mirror, is: “THEY KNOW LEAVING KIDS WAS WRONG.”
Does the Mirror mean to say that Madeleine’s parents, Kate and Gerry, now think they did the wrong thing in nipping out for a bite to eat and leaving the children in the apartment on what they thought was a secure resort?
Does the Mirror mean that the McCanns know that popping back regularly to look at their children and checking on their well being was less than perfect?
Does the Mirror mean that the McCanns realise they should not have left their children alone, just like it is wrong to leave a child in a hotel under the auspices of a baby monitoring service, to leave a child in the car while mum goes to pay for petrol, to talk to a neighbour over a garden fence while the children are indoors?
Of course this is not the Mirror’s view. Oh, no. This is Madeleine’s grandmother, Susan Healy, saying: “They know this was a mistake. But it wasn’t child neglect, it wasn’t not caring for your children.”
That she feels the need to say this is wrong. That the Mirror can lead with Madeleine’s grief-worn parents is pathetic and misguided. That the paper can talk of “people are asking why they didn’t make use of the crèche” at the resort or take the children out to dinner with them is wrong.
But the Mirror has news to write. And the police aren’t playing the game.
THEORIES
So the Mirror produces: “THE 6 THEORIES.”
Only six! Why this cautious approach? But it is all the Mirror has. And readers hear of the “PAEDOPHILE GANG”, the “LONE PAEDOPHILE”, the “JEALOUS MOTHER”, Madeleine wandering off and “DROWNED”, the “OPPORTUNIST PAEDOPHILE”, the “CHILDLESS COUPLE”.
But the Sun has more. It has 130 more. As the front-page headline screams: “MADDIE COPS HUNT 130 BRIT PAEDOS.”
The paper says “at least” 130 British paedophiles “might” have taken Madeleine McCann.
In “ALGARVE IS ‘HAVEN’ FOR PERVS”, readers learn that Portugal is a “magnet for sun-seeking perverts from Britain and the rest of Europe”.
Who knew that perverts get off on watching children at the beach?
Us And Them
But help is on its way. The Sun lists the British coppers who will go out there and see to it that justice is done. We, says the paper, are the only country with a sex offenders’ register.
All convicted perverts must inform the police of their desire to go abroad. At least 130 have. And the police are looking for them.
But – and whisper this – might it be that convicted sexual deviants don’t all tell the police what they plan to do? They are not monitored while overseas. And might it be that not all sexual predators are caught and make it to the list?
Among the policemans’ names is Detective Superintendent Graham Hill, attached to theChild Exploitation and Protection Centre. Hill is on the case. He has flown to Portugal.
Hill worked on the case of Milly Dowler. She was snatched from near Walton railway station, Surrey, in 2002. Her body was found six months later. Her killer or killers have never been caught.
Perhaps Hill’s experiences can help. Perhaps he’ll have more luck. Perhaps not.
Meanwhile, a family is distraught, and bearing up incredibly well under the strain and the merciless gaze of the newspapers…

“Maybe Kate is lucky she got back to the UK, they may have started to slap her around abit like they did Joanas mother”
I’m not condoning any breach of human rights via torture …
However Anyone want to contribute to my “hitman” fund? Nothing safe about being in the UK allegedly haha ONLY KIDDING all you lawyers and fundementalists out there.. ooh dear, what have I said.
September 28th, 2007 at 9:20 pm
“no comment” Powder Monkey.. thats “ludicrous”
September 28th, 2007 at 9:10 pm
Andrew if they had of disected then there would have been blood alot of blood as not alot was found then i dont think thats an option.
Look at the lies that the McCanns have told what lies maybe they have said afew things that were sllightly diffrent but they have lost there daughter shock does strange things to you.
Look at the lies the police have leaked just to get a reaction from the world and to try and make the McCanns admit to something that they have not done.
I can see through the wood maybe if afew of those trees got cut down you would too Andrew but the truth is you dont want to you want the McCanns to be guilty.
I want what ever happened to Madeliene to be found out if her parents have done what is said then i want them to be punished, but the ridiculous storys are really there to hurt the McCanns emotionally and to make them look bad to the world.
I want to be able to believe something 100% and from the exagerated lies from the media and the portugal police then i dont even think what they say is even 5 % truth.
Also if there is a privacy law against speaking about the case how can they get away with writing this?
There seems to be abit of a problem with obeying laws by the police in portugal if they cant keep to there rules how can they make anyone else, slack policing and sheer incompetance is what has made this case such a mystery all that could have been found was wrecked in the first few days and the police force dosnt know what they are doing.
September 28th, 2007 at 8:53 pm
Im sorry this latest theorie from the keystone cops from portugal tells me that they should be taken completly off the case, Killing Madeliene and stuffing her in a fridge its completely ridiculous if it wasnt such a sad case it could be funny.
How did they not notice the strange smell in the apartment when they were there maybe the McCanns could of hid her for a day or so but come on 5 weeks!!
Are you telling me that they didnt check the hotel complex and rooms when Madeleine went missing and can you honestly say that a body could be moved around a holiday complex that is decaying without being noticed specially as they were surounded by the media at the time aswell.
The portugal police have nothing on the McCanns and are now just being ridiculous and showing what a bad police force they are, they cant solve a case so they start with making up storys and trying to hurt the parents.
Maybe Kate is lucky she got back to the UK, they may have started to slap her around abit like they did Joanas mother.
All cases that have not been proved 100% in portugal should really be checked out, because from what i have seen in this case the portugal police is the biggest joke i have ever heard of. They should habd this case over to another police force to take over as they are so obviosly unable to cope with any sort of crime.

Andrew, it all depends on what you’re putting in your tea. More than milk & 2 lumps?
September 28th, 2007 at 8:22 pm
And here he is!

Can the study of Physics take you beyond physical limitations?
“Of course Physics can take one beyond ones limitations, like any other mental activity. The human race is so puny compared to the universe that being disabled is not of much cosmic significance”
Thanks Professor. There’s your answer. More tea anyone?

Hi everyone. The odds of someone winning the national lottery in the UK are 14,000,000 to one but someone usually wins every week. In the same way that people have thrown six consecutive sixes on dice and won a prize.
The probability exists, the possibility exists. Any mathamatician or physicist will agree. The odds may or may not be very good, however it doesnt remove the logical reasoning that it could have happened, or even indeed would happen again in the future in some way.
To answer powder monkey, I agree having personal experience of a corpse left at 15+- centigrade for two weeks, it is not a smell you would forget in a hurry.
However, bearing in mind that doctors disect as a matter of training, and are also knowledgable as to the storage requirements, it is again not unlikely that “this” may have occurred. I’m not fond of suggesting such a thing, however mathematically speaking it is possible… and plausible.
It is possible to “store” these “items” in a way in which they are not totally exposed to ambient air, therefore not creating a noticible odour which cannot be masked with relative ease with perfume of some type.
Nothing about this whole charade has been a 4-5 favourite at the betting shop
(sorry to lower the tone of a childs disappearance down to betting odds)
so why should we even entertain the suggestion that seemingly implausible theories should be wrong? sometimes things stare you right in the face just waiting for you to notice, especially things that you for some reason don’t wish to look for.
I feel that “implausibility/improbability” could be the answer to a lot of this case. The McCanns seem to be showing us what they want us to see, their
“user-friendly socially acceptable believable simplified version” let’s look further, and deeper. How implausible and improbable has any of this been so far?
Well why expect anything else to be simple? I’m not saying that it couldn’t be a simple answer at the end of the day. sometimes people don’t see the woods for the trees… Anyway, you get what I mean.
To dismiss a possibility and resulting line of enquiry would mean there’s a higher probability and possbility that someone may be getting away with murder, That “my friends” is unacceptable. Nobody should mock the Police’s motivations here. They claim to have evidence of some nature to suggest Madeleine is dead, why should we disbelieve them if we’re “leaving no stone unturned”?
Look at their contradictions.(McCanns) I call them lies. listen to what they’ve said. Look at what they’ve done, what we already KNOW they’ve done. It just doesn’t add up to “normal behaviour” none of it.
Professor Stephen Hawkins, where are you when we need you?
September 28th, 2007 at 6:41 pm
Hi everyone. I agree with Powder Monkey regarding the smell. I’ve got first hand experience of a 2 week old corpse smell at around 15 Centigrade . You wouldn’t ever forget that smell. If it was warmer than that it would be worse still. however…
If you had never come into contact with it you wouldnt really know what it was, and any smell can be covered by perfumes especially if it’s not totally exposed to ambient air
This for me is crossing the boundaries of acceptability or speculation slightly, but logically speaking Doctors disect as part of their training. They also know at what temperature, and in what manner to store these “items” to use a more pleasant phrase. So, if anyone would know how to do this, it would be them.
Also it is, logically speaking, possible and plausible to “contain” these “items” in a manner in which they are not completely exposed via means of wrapping, containing, or immersing. It is not beyond the realms of possibility, whether it be likely or not.
I’m not the kind of person to make wild allegations of this nature, but I stress that it is not impossible for these events to have taken place, and therefore cannot be dismissed as such. That’s speaking from a probability point of view. Any Physicist or Mathematician would agree.
What are the odds for example of any of this occurring? well, again you cannot discount the fact that people DO occasionally throw Six sixes on dice.
People DO win the national lottery @ odds of 14,000,000 to one
Etc Etc. I personally wouldnt discount anything anywhere, although as I stated the probability may be lower, it doesn’t rule out the possibility.
“It’s a long shot but it just might work” Whoever coined that phrase on T.V in the 70’s may not have been so crazy after all. “the long shot” sometimes is the winner.
September 28th, 2007 at 3:56 pm
These ideas are getting more and more implausible. It sounds as though there are some in the Portuguese police who are determined to find them guilty whatever. The trip to Huelva was advertised in advance. Here is a report from ITN news.
http://itn.co.uk/news/618bacdfd52d7c4bfd04ee7eb8d4a775.html
Would you announce the trip to the world’s press while you were carrying the body of a dead child in the boot of your car?
It seems either the Mccanns are insane or some elements in the Portuguese police are!
September 28th, 2007 at 3:45 pm
One of the reports I read about the McCann’s trip to Spain said that they were accompanied by a cameraman, who was recording the visit for the McCann’s website. Even though he was paid from the fund and could, therefore, be viewed as their employee, I can’t see how they could have disposed of Madeleine’s body on this trip if he was around.
If they had the body in the boot, as some claim, what about the smell? Any time they stopped the car anyone near it would notice a smell. For anyone who has never encountered a body that has been dead for some 3 - 4 weeks, it’s a strong, pungent, nauseating odour that can make you physically gag. It’s very distinctive and once smelt is never forgotten. If a police officer had smelt that on the McCann’s car during that trip, the car would have been searched and they would have been arrested there and then.
The Spanish police say they are not investigating the McCanns “in any way, shape or from” and have had no requests from the Portuguese police to do so.
I don’t think that there is anything suspicious about the trip to Spain in view of the facts that they were accompanied by the cameraman (and press according to some reports) and had arranged to meet members of the press in Spain. As for them going there on a public holiday when shops are shut : maybe it really was delayed because Gerry McCann was ill and maybe they didn’t realise that there’d be no-one on the streets because of the holiday but thought that, like in England, people would be off work and wandering around looking in the shops.
I’m more curious about the missing miles. Does anyone know how much mileage is supposedly unaccounted for and what dates, if the police have identified other dates, are in question?
September 28th, 2007 at 3:15 pm
Gerry says the miles are from driving back and forth to the airport. I guess someone would have to go thru the blog and see where they were inbetween those dates….
just more inconsistencies…..they even have the lil girl from Morocco with different names and ages…i read she was 3 and then 5….and they have totally different names for her….cant seem to get anything straight in this story…
September 28th, 2007 at 3:12 pm
why are they blurring the faces of the twins now? i mean we have seen them all this time…
September 28th, 2007 at 3:09 pm
Humm… can anyone confirm the Km from the car ? I read before 2750 Km between 27th may and 3 July, but now I read here 1700, I am confused.
September 28th, 2007 at 3:04 pm
Reports suggest that the Portuguese police are investigating 2 missing hours that Kate and Gerry McCann could have used to bury their daughter Madeleine in Spain.
Their spokesman (Clarence Mitchell) has dismissed the claims and as you could imagine, Kate and Gerry are feeling utterly sick over the allegation.
And Mr Mitchell knows this HOW?
September 28th, 2007 at 2:28 pm
How can anyone say that they will not carry out any more searches without credible leads but then not allow the McCanns to carry out their own investigation, they dont want to keep searching using their resources thats fine but let the Family carry out their own without being told they are breaking the law.
That picture did look like a very blurred picture of Madeleine and if people keep passing in pictures or saying if they see a child simalar to Madeleien then thats good maybe not her this time but next time it may be.
She deserves that at least like the web site says leave no stone unturned, just because someone is put out for a few minutes of their day because someone else thinks they saw Madeliene, isnt going to harm if its another sighting that is checked and is able to be removed from doubt. One day she may be found by one of these sightings so keep them up.
September 28th, 2007 at 12:09 pm
2003 irritated why could this not have been maddie? what common sense r u speaking of?
September 28th, 2007 at 12:04 pm
I was never convinced by the photo. It looked like a small blonde girl and there’s millions of those around the world, plus there was nothing done to hide her from view or change her appearance, such as dyeing her hair. Some will bear a resemblance to Madeleine, to a greater or lesser degree. If Madeleine is still alive then her features will change with time and it will become harder for people to recognise her, as the image in their minds will be that of a 4 year old. The peculiarity in her right eye, I forget the medical term, will be the only way of identifying her by only looking at her. No doubt some papers might do a “what Madeleine may look like in 5, 10 years time etc”, but that would only be an artist’s impression and therefore subject to interpretation.
Irritated, I doubt we will get photos in the press in years to come, as the world will move on and there will be fresh stories for people to ponder over. Most people will forget Madeleine, see Ben Needham for an example, and only the McCanns and their family and friends will not move on. Already I have heard of “Madeleine fatigue”, in that people are fed up of the coverage - possibly the lack of real news leading to speculative stories and the repetition of old news.
Press reports today mention the possible use of satellites to help locate Madeleine, via mobile phones, tracking fishing vessels etc., and looking at images of Praia da Luz from May 2nd onwards. I have no idea of how feasible this is and would have thought this had been done sooner if it is possible.
Also mentioned is internet traffic by paedophiles and using GCHQ to search through emails for mention of Madeleine. Somehow, I doubt that one paedophile emailing another, would be so blatant as to mention her by name, given the high profile of the case.
There seems to be nothing at the moment to generate a solid line of enquiry. Even the toxicology results, expected within a few days, may only provide intelligence and have no real evidential value. The Portuguese police have said that they will not carry out more searches without a credible lead.
September 28th, 2007 at 11:32 am
This is going too far. One small photo comes up, a journalist drives like crazy to this little town and bang “it is the FALSE Maddie”. Then he/ the journalist has the nerves to ask for proof and birth certificat. But, too bad, it is “only the wrong Maddie”.
Apart from common sense which tells us that this couldn´t have been Maddie, the world goes into a rush and now the depression.
What is wrong with us? This is crazy. It is unhealthy.
In the next years we will be updated from time to time with pictures of 7, 9 14 years old blond girls “Is this Maddie????”.
And then some girls will turn up and tell “I am Maddie”.
Will this come to an end?
September 28th, 2007 at 2:04 am
Hi everyone.. I’m risking another post attempt. The last one’s haven’t got here at all so far. wish me luck! (if they arrive later, forgive me!)
If the McCanns say something is Rediculous/Ludicrous or more recently “utter nonsense” then it’s worth looking into more.
If the McCanns say they are sure Madeleine is still in Portugal… It’s definately worth looking further afield.
“Police are puzzled by the high mileage on the car, which was driven 1,700km between May 27 and July 3. ”
They aren’t puzzled at all, it looks obvious to me what may have happened.
1996: Admin comment, Thank you.
1997: Xrish Thank you also
September 27th, 2007 at 11:56 pm
A pic of a child that looks like Madeleine hits the papers and within ONE day this child is located and it is confirmed she is not Madeleine.
Madeleine goes missing and it is now 147 days later and no one knows what happen to her or where she is or is she is even still alive.
Actually someone knows something and it looks like the police are lookin at Kate again….
What next?
September 27th, 2007 at 6:42 pm
This still dosnt explain how or where they hid the body untill Aug 3rd though i still cant see how they managed that.
I still think they are innocent of harming Madeliene.
September 27th, 2007 at 6:36 pm
I may be wrong but im sure i read on Gerrys blog about a trip to Huelva, and it was a bank Holiday to put posters up.
I think that they had a problem with langauge difficulties and it was a very upsetting day for them.
I dont know if this was because they didnt go or because they did and the language barrier became a problem.
I may be thinking of a completely diffrent trip, to another place all together i dont have a great memory.
September 27th, 2007 at 6:10 pm
Here we go again???
A day after a possible sighting of four-year-old Madeleine was ruled out, police re-focused on her parents, who are official formal suspects in her disappearance.
They are studying CCTV footage of a journey the couple made to Huelva, a city across the Spanish border on August 3 to raise their daughter’s profile.
It is understood that police are suspicious of the trip because the McCanns changed their plans at the last minute and did not have any formal meetings while they were there.
Detectives are said to be working on the theory that Mrs McCann may have accidentally killed her daughter and relied on her husband to help cover it up, a theory dismissed as ludicrous by the McCanns.
Police are puzzled by the high mileage on the car, which was driven 1,700km between May 27 and July 3.
A source close to Mr and Mrs McCann dismissed the Spanish link, claiming it was “utter nonsense
September 27th, 2007 at 5:37 pm
Hi ! Andrew, you never sounded to me as outlandish, madness or angry, in fact I’ve been reading this forum for sometime before I post my first message. And when I read your messages, I thought “here is someone different, someone who does not go with the propaganda, someone with a truly working full steam brain!”
Andrew, sometimes you seem to read my mind, although we may be a world apart - since I am from Brazil.
September 27th, 2007 at 4:27 pm
Andrew is the biggest loser on the board. Im surprised you even read his cr#p.
It wasn’t only childish - it was downright insulting. Im surprised the moderator let him get away with this. What a sad person he is. What a rotten father he must be.

Mods and Admin
Could you refer me to the time and date of the post of these crap/childish/ insulting/ and rotten parenting allegations please. Or am I just reading it above?
September 27th, 2007 at 3:49 pm
Andrew none of your rantings about hiltler the other day was copys they were just rantings of a mad man. And to post a picture of gerry as Hiltler was a slight bit childish dont you think?
September 27th, 2007 at 3:45 pm
so Alice she dosnt deserve a thankyou? for trying at least she saw something and tried to help, maybe she didnt see it straight away but when her photos were developed and that it was noticed she tried to help.
So yes she deserves a thankyou from people and not to be made to feel like she wasted peoples time.
No sighting should be ignored they all should be looked into.
So thats what i mean by “thankyou” Alice a Thankyou for trying the last person that said she thought she spotted Madeliene also got alot of abuse for how bad a mistake it was when it turned out not to be Madeliene.
September 27th, 2007 at 1:35 pm
Interpol is investigating the picture of a very frightened blonde girl being carried by a gang of Moroccans.
Wow…from a very frightened blonde girl with a gang of Moroccans to a lil girl being carried by her mom. How things change from one day to the next.
September 27th, 2007 at 12:59 pm
Xrish…thanx….Seems like there are a few different stories going around even about this lil girl…Some news says she is 3…some say 5…they even give her different names….and they cant agree on who actually thought to call in the police. I guess it is good someone took the time, even thought it was not Madeleine. And thanks to the lil girls parents for being so understanding.
They have a piece on Madeleine on my local news now…
September 27th, 2007 at 12:44 pm
