Madeleine McCann: Robert Murat And More Questions
MADELEINE McCann is missing. Still missing.
But today there is news. The daily front-page shots of Madeleine’s traumatised parents are moved further within the papers to make space for the head of Robert Murat.
“MADELEINE BRITISH MAN IS QUIZZED!” says the Mirror’s front-page headline.

After the speculation the paper delivers a welter of facts. Robert Murat lives with his mum. Robert Murat is in his 30s. Robert Murat lives with his mother in a villa 150 yards from the apartment where Madeleine McCann was snatched.
The Sun (“MADDIE: BRIT QUIZZED”) says Murat lives 100 yards from that McCann apartment. Like the Mirror, the Sun produces a front-page picture of “one-eyed Murat”. The Mail hears that Murat lost his eye in a BMX accident when he was a boy. The Mail says Murat lives 80 yards from Madeleine’s holiday apartment.
Murat is “stocky”. He offered to help the police hunt as a “translator”. He lives in Casa Liliana, with his mum Jenny.
The Suspect
The Sun’s Julie Moult considers the evidence. And delivers a piece entitled “stories of a fantasist”. “He always seemed so eager to get involved in the police investigation,” says the Sun’s woman–on-the-scene. “Robert claimed he had a daughter just like Madeleine and said he felt compelled to do anything he could. But to me he seemed like classic fantasist.”
The Sun introduces Martin Brunt, the crime news correspondent from its sister organ, TV’s Sky news.
He says Murat told him he’d been taken inside the McCanns’ apartment by police.
Sky news correspondent Ian Woods says he asked Murat to help him speak with locals.
“I met him and had a conversation with him. I tried to find out as much as I could about him,” says Woods, who checked out Murat’s details. “They did check out, and I left it at that for the time.”
The Mail’s Neil Sears also spots Murat. In “My encounters with a man ‘who just wanted to help’”, Sears tells Mail readers, “There was something more to the friendly expat who called himself ‘Rob’ than met the eye.”
Murat made Sears “feel slightly uncomfortable”.
But it was the Sunday Mirror’s Lori Cambell who alerted police to Murat’s behaviour, she saw as “creepy”.
Writing Wrongs
So much for investigative journalism. Questions were asked but nothing more was done. Murat is with police because he made a show of himself, because he acted as if working in an official capacity. Even though the Times says Murat was acting as “an official translator”.
So now the man in the chinos, with the glass eye, who lives with him mum and whose estranged wife, from Hockering, near Norwich, tells a neighbour “How could someone do something so terrible to little girl like that?’ is all over the papers.
Is Murat guilty? The papers produce nothing to indicate that he is. But if Murat is involved, look out for the stories of how British journalism cracked the case.
And look out for Madeleine McCann. Still missing…

Alice…I agree!! Like i mentioned before, i see the Mccanns have time for FAMILY time with the twins. Ok…go to church….stay in church all day and pray that your innocent daughter is still alive and is found safe and soon. If you want to run to clear your head, i dont think we care to hear about it. Sometimes i think the people that post on here are more concerned about Maddie then her own parents. They are odd. As far as no new news? Gerry didnt bother to mention all that is going on about the search warrants and a possible arrest? Is this because it is in their home town and may have something to do with a friend of theirs that was on Holiday with them? We dont see Maddie’s name mentioned (Like we really miss Maddie or something like that) They want to go home now? why all of a sudden and why after police will not keep them informed of what is going on? For the sake of the twins? That is almost a joke, the twins are not in school, they are having a great time on Holiday, playing in the ocean(oh it is too cold for that) and swimming in a friend’s pool with day, and going to day care(have they gone back there?) Like i said, if their sister is never found, it is sad byt they will probably not even remember her as they get older(except for pics)
So i dont think they are going home because of the twins. IMO i’m not sure why they brought the kids to Portugal. According to what i have read, they were takin to that day care place, spent the morning there, Kate and Gerry picked them up at 12.30(heard they close the day care from 12.30 to 2.30 so they would have to get them) Then they spent time with mom and dad and then they were left in an unlocked apartment ALONE night after night so mom and dad could eat and drink and have a good time.
I read today that an arrest could take place in a few hours, also read a few days and this last article said a few weeks.

HOW MANY TIMES CAN YOU COUNT “I” - IT SHOULD NOT BE ABOUT HIM IT SHOULD BE ABOUT “HER” - MADELEINE. THE ONLY TIME HER NAME IS MENTIONED IS IN THE “FUND RAISING” PARAGRAPH. I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR THAT THE PARENTS SPENT THEIR TIME SEARCHING, LOOKING, ENQUIRING, BUT NONE OF IT - SEEMS THE THING UPPERMOST IN HIS MIND IS PLANNING A FITNESS ROUTINE!! Day 109 - 20/08/2007
I had a predominately quiet but productive day. I spent most of it at the computer or on the phone. We keep in regular touch with both the Portuguese and British police but there has been no major news in the last couple of days.
We did not do any exercise today but plan to run tomorrow morning- especially as I am off to bed for an early night!
Day 108 - 19/08/2007
I went to the airport this morning to pick up one of Kates friends who has come out to help for a few days. Kate went to church this morning as usual. We spent a couple of hours reading mail and answering e-mails.
Donations to Madeleines fund have topped £1million pounds. We would like to thank everyone who has donated to the fund and we will ensure that no stone is left unturned in the search for Madeleine. I will also ensure that the donations figure on the website is officially updated! The establishment of the fund, which was created in response to so many people offering financial assistance, lifted a huge weight off our shoulders. Madeleines fund allows us to make decisions regarding our search for Madeleine for the right reasons- with the boards approval of course- and not out of financial necessity. We did hope that the main objective of the fund would have been fulfilled long before now.
Tonight Kate and I went for a run together. It was the first time I have been for 10 days and I definitely feel better for it. I have made a mental note to get some form of aerobic exercise in at least 2-3 times per week as it does help me both physically and mentally.

LAWFUEL - Reports from the UK indicate that an arrest may be made in Britain in the coming days in the Madeleine McCann case.
Madeleine McCann went missing over three months ago in Portugal, where she was either snatched from her family’s holiday apartment or, reports from police sources have indicated, may have been killed and removed from the apartment.
The recent report indicate the investigation has reached a “decisive phase”
The suspect has reportedly been under surveillance for weeks and would be extradited to Portugal for questioning.The development comes after DNA tests on vehicles in Praia da Luz, including those driven by the McCann family, their friends and the only official suspect, Robert Murat.
**Oh didnt know the arrests were to take place in Britain…..wonder if it’s one of the McCann’s friends? I’ll be waiting to see what happens…BUT like i said earlier, it seems like when one plan dont work, more info is given and they police go off in an entirely DIFFERENT direction…

back in june i was ‘presented’ with a document ‘leaked’ to me by a trusted inteligence expert who has worked to advise our own government as well as other countries. i never meet the guy before he’d left the report with me. but have since found out that he is who he says he is.
it claims to be the entire intelligence report into the Madelaine case
i can’t even start to tell you of its contents and how damning they are but it puts into question that the british government knew exactly where maddy was hours after she went missing, and did nothing.(reasons become clear later in the report)
It also reports that her dissapearance was part of a much larger problem of tailored abductions for paedophile rings that stretch across europe and involve a nations intelligence organisation and even top ranking euro mp’s.
it’s frightening reading either from a complete madman or an expert in intelligence with the resources and contacts to compile this sort of information.
these are its main points and all i’m willing to publish
The UK knew for 14 days the location of Madeleine McCann to a high degree of confidence and nothing was done to effect a rescue;
The failure to refer the matter to JIC or convene COBRA contributed to the poor co-ordination of intelligence;
Madeleine McCann was kidnapped by a paedophile ring linked to the covert German DVD intelligence agency;
The Portuguese Authorities at a senior level have frustrated the Portuguese police investigation, which has degenerated into a farce;
Madeleine was taken out by sea, the original destination was adjacent to the port of Antwerp, she was held for 14 days on a specially equipped vessel in Moroccan territorial waters without the consent of Morocco and she is probably now on Belgian territory;
Madeleine is alive but in mortal danger, COBRA and JIC should be brought in without delay and every available intelligence resource of the United Kingdom should be committed to finding and saving her;
The involvement of Portuguese, Belgian and German intelligence indicates that the political situation in Europe will deteriorate if this crisis is not resolved quickly;
The murder of Madeleine McCann, effectively at the instigation of the German State would lead to a major Anglo-European crisis and rightly so.

hi star, i see u couldnt sleep last nite. am sorry but if they had let r police over their when lilltle maddie went missing,then maybe we would of found her by now and returned her safe and sound to her family.and as for all the break ins,why where they not checked properly. i heard that the blood did not belong to little maddie,have u heard anything hunn. it was on the news that the police have taken a different aprouch. am sorry star and i know this mite sound nice,but i dont think she is alive,its been too long and there hasnt been anything at all. dont get me wrong id lve for her to be returned home safe and well.

Police investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann are following a new line of inquiry which could see them carry out a series of searches in the next 48 hours.
Every detective in the Algarve is on standby today. Search warrants have been signed and police are awaiting final orders to start an operation believed to be linked to a new potential suspect.
The Policia Judiciaria, the Portuguese equivalent of CID, has been on alert since Friday. The details of the lead are a closely guarded secret and detectives have been warned that they are being monitored for any leaks.
Staff from the Ocean Club complex, where Madeleine disappeared on May 3, will be also be re-interviewed today. A police source said: “We are re-interviewing several witnesses in order to clarify details that may be relevant to the new line of inquiry in light of facts we have found.”
Pamela Fenn, 70, who lives in the apartment above where the McCanns were staying, and her niece, who is flying to Portugal from the UK, will be among those spoken to.
Mrs Fenn has said that in the weeks leading up to Madeleine’s disappearance she scared off an intruder in her apartment.
There was no apparent sign of a break-in and it is thought the man may have had a key to let himself into the flat. She will be making a formal statement today at police headquarters in the city of Portimao. There was also another burglary in the complex a few weeks before in which police also suspected the intruder had a key.
Mrs Fenn’s niece was staying with her aunt in the week that the McCanns were on holiday. She saw a suspicious-looking man hanging around the McCanns’ apartment about the time Madeleine vanished.
She has spoken to British police and told them that he matched the description of a suspect seen leaving the scene with a child wrapped up in a blanket on the night of Madeleine’s disappearance.
Kate and Gerry McCann have still not been briefed on any developments but hope to meet detectives this week.
Over the weekend, friends suggested that the family would stay in Portugal until the end of the summer, pending developments.
**could the police be looking at someone that works at the apartment? Funny they stopped briefing the Mccanns? Did someone try to rob the Mccanns and find something more more interesting? You would think that if they were robbing and found a child they would of asked for ransom? It seems as soon as one lead does not pan out, someone knows something else. I just wonder if these people spoke up earlier and police are just gettin around to check out their stories now? I hope since the British Police are involved now, they found out what happen to lil Maddie…..

hi star,i went to that article i was actually shocked to hear of ALL the mistakes that there were,no wonder poor little maddie has not been reunited with her parents yet,and the police dont have anything to go on.no wonder there is so many children missing and have never been found,i will never go on holiday with my children! on another article from another post site i read that the blood that was found didnt belong to little maddie,but did belong to a man!!!! but couldnt check it against any sex affenders on record because the blood was too damadged,but again u dont know what to believe. i so wish for her to be found safe and sound andreunited to her family.xx

hey Lorraine…I never heard about a nanny, but one would think that being doctors with 3 small children the McCanns would have someone to care for their children back home. So it would make sense, to me anyways, that they would take someone along to watch them on vacation. I have never heard Kate of Gerry mention one, I wonder if they did bring someone along? Also makes no sense to me that the place they were stayin at had babysitting service. WHY would they not use that? The only thing i have heard the Mccanns say is if they thought it was not safe to leave them they would of never done it, NIGHT after NIGHT after NIGHT. I read one place they took the kids to that creche place in the am, and went back for them at lunch (cause that is when it shut down for lunch) and spent the rest of the day with them. Maddie’s story has takin so many twists and turns I dont think i would be surprised to hear anything at this point.

i believe that the police are actually looking into the hotel itself becaise their had been a spat of breakins leading up to the disapearing of little maddie,i wonder what will become of that?and i was also told that here nanny went on holiday with the mcanns,but then for some reason she had to leave and go to canada, whats all that about?

THE PARENTS of Madeleine McCann could return to Britain as early as next month after being left “isolated and bruised” by their treatment in the Portuguese press.
In an interview last week, Kate McCann said the couple’s decision to come home was being shaped by their concern for the welfare and education of their two-year-old twins, Sean and Amelie. The McCanns have at last told the twins that their elder sister is missing.
But a friend of the family revealed that the intense pressure from the local media was also a significant factor. In the past fortnight, the couple have faced a series of false allegations in the local media that their four-year-old daughter was killed in their apartment in Praia da Luz and they and their friends were under suspicion.
The claims have been accompanied by an increasingly aggressive approach from the Portuguese paparazzi, who have taken to camping out on the McCanns’ doorstep and following their every move. The couple were particularly upset by the impact it had on the twins, who had to be withdrawn from their creche to avoid the media siege.
They have also become concerned by the approach of Portuguese police in the past fortnight. Recent briefings have seen the police adopt a “hardened” approach to the couple, which has led them to fear that the investigation is “back to square one”.
Now they say they are going home because of the twins?

just heared on the news that some people may of heared that the blood that was found from the mcanns appartment did not belong to little maddie,when in fact they have not had any results back yet so their is no news at present.

Of course the main objective is to “capaign to stop this happening again” BUT if nobody knows WHAT happened then how can the campaign stop it happening again. I suppose that if any good has come out of it all so far it is to raise the awareness of abduction. I am still of the opinion that I was on day one of this and that is that Madeleine was not abducted. If Madeine was not abducted then maybe when the true facts are known the campaign can shift to making an awareness of what really did happen to her and warning parents of the possibilities of other ways that children can come to harm, apart from abduction which has always been a scary thought in the minds of responsible parents. - I agree that child snatching needs to be addressed - but leaving a wide open situation for abductors to prey on small kids in not a common situation and never will be - most parents - no matter how naive in the art of parenting - would think carefully about leaving young children - almost with a label attached saying “here I am, home alone again - take me” This is exactly what the McCanns did as it was not, by their own admission, a “one Off” - they had done exactly the same thing on previous nights..

Unfortunately I think that Madeleine has died. There’s just no way with all this media surrounding this case that she is alive now. However I still hold some hope for her and her family.

am sorry hun,but i supose i just cant see these parents actually harming their child,i could be wrong. am always told that i only ever see the good in people and that is my down side. but i truely think that these two people wouldnt harm little maddie.but we will never know unless te truth comes out.

Four days after a police spokesman said that there was an “intensity” to evidence that the four year old was no longer alive, Kate and Gerry McCann are still being kept in the dark on the “shift” in the investigation.

Relations have broken down and they are pressing for a meeting some time on Wednesday.
Mr McCann said: “I think, as parents, if there is evidence then we need to know about it.”
It emerged on Tuesday that 104 days into the investigation police had suspended inquiries until the results of forensic tests in Britain.
New clues - including specks of blood, fibres and hairs - were found by British sniffer dogs two weeks ago at the apartment where the family was staying.
The samples are being analysed at a laboratory in Birmingham and the results are expected by the end of this week. The whole investigation now hinges on the tests, with all other leads exhausted.
The Mccanns WANT to know about the evidence. I know their daughter is missing. BUT the police are running the show and IF they believe Kate and Gerry or any of their friend are involved are they gonna fill them in on the info before they have the results? I think not. Now i see that not only blood was found, BUT hairs and fibers? Looks like we have to wait until the end of the week now.
IMO if The Mccanns did nothing wrong(apart from leaving the kids alone) they have nothing to worry about.

Lorraine - If I had committed a crime - then you are the one person I would like by my side - please try to be a little less trusting. Obviously everyone can find a positive side to every senario, but the police need to look in the opposite direction otherwise they would never see any bad in anyone and never make an arrest would they?

Again, I must state that I hope that the police authoritie sar reading this thread as it may give them more ideas than they have themselves. There is a child missing. In an ideal world I personally would like the child to be found, and best scenario possible, alive!!! At one and the same time, someone made the child disappear and I want justice. The McCanns’writing a blog is a way of expiating guilt and showing they are human when such an in-human act has happened, committed by whomever. And what bugs me, thinking in the same way as a policeman may be thinking, in order to seek justice is, why don’t the police take the McGanns down to the bloody ocean and watch their reactions??? everyone keeps mentioning the ocean and the McGanns keep going down there to stare at it……..

hi alice,i agree with u totally on little maddies cuddle cat,knowing that it wasnt where it was and infact up and out of reach where little maddie would of not been able to reach it. it would of been the first thing you would point out to the police, i supose she didnt think,she just seen that little maddie wasnt their but cuddle cat was, so she picked it up for comffit,i dont know but i think i would of picked it up to cuddle it if it was precious to my little girl and she was not in sight.but as soon as you realise that it had been moved,u would inform the police,and see if they coud salvige anything from cuddle cat,instead of washing it……………..everybody would of reacted differently…………………………

Relatively quiet day. This allowed me to catch up with e-mails, phone calls and some administration. No major news on any front.
The weather has been unseasonably cool over the last 2-3 days. I have had a long sleeved top on for the first time in over 2 months and it is more pleasant overnight, making sleep easier.

I recon that cuddle cat could tell a story - but they made great emphasis in all of the news reports that it has been clutched by mother from day 1. NOW - ANNOUNCED that “it has been washed because of the sun oil and whatever… its got grubby” What the hell are the police thinking about not sealing cuddle cat in a bag for analysis - apparently the only reliable - yet “silent” witness ??- and what the hell are the parents thinking about touching it and not handing it over immediately to the authorities. It could well have the same blood specs as in the appartment. Reports state that the mother mccann knew immediately something was amis (ugghhh>>??) when cuddle cat was not in the bed but in some unfamiliar resting place in the appartment….surely Madeleine not being in her bed would confirm that something was “amis” without searching for a bloody toy cat. what was the phrase used “At worst naive” - in my opinion best pathetic - at worst - well - just cant think of words to describe .
