Madeleine McCann: Robert Murat And More Questions
MADELEINE McCann is missing. Still missing.
But today there is news. The daily front-page shots of Madeleine’s traumatised parents are moved further within the papers to make space for the head of Robert Murat.
“MADELEINE BRITISH MAN IS QUIZZED!” says the Mirror’s front-page headline.

After the speculation the paper delivers a welter of facts. Robert Murat lives with his mum. Robert Murat is in his 30s. Robert Murat lives with his mother in a villa 150 yards from the apartment where Madeleine McCann was snatched.
The Sun (“MADDIE: BRIT QUIZZED”) says Murat lives 100 yards from that McCann apartment. Like the Mirror, the Sun produces a front-page picture of “one-eyed Murat”. The Mail hears that Murat lost his eye in a BMX accident when he was a boy. The Mail says Murat lives 80 yards from Madeleine’s holiday apartment.
Murat is “stocky”. He offered to help the police hunt as a “translator”. He lives in Casa Liliana, with his mum Jenny.
The Suspect
The Sun’s Julie Moult considers the evidence. And delivers a piece entitled “stories of a fantasist”. “He always seemed so eager to get involved in the police investigation,” says the Sun’s woman–on-the-scene. “Robert claimed he had a daughter just like Madeleine and said he felt compelled to do anything he could. But to me he seemed like classic fantasist.”
The Sun introduces Martin Brunt, the crime news correspondent from its sister organ, TV’s Sky news.
He says Murat told him he’d been taken inside the McCanns’ apartment by police.
Sky news correspondent Ian Woods says he asked Murat to help him speak with locals.
“I met him and had a conversation with him. I tried to find out as much as I could about him,” says Woods, who checked out Murat’s details. “They did check out, and I left it at that for the time.”
The Mail’s Neil Sears also spots Murat. In “My encounters with a man ‘who just wanted to help’”, Sears tells Mail readers, “There was something more to the friendly expat who called himself ‘Rob’ than met the eye.”
Murat made Sears “feel slightly uncomfortable”.
But it was the Sunday Mirror’s Lori Cambell who alerted police to Murat’s behaviour, she saw as “creepy”.
Writing Wrongs
So much for investigative journalism. Questions were asked but nothing more was done. Murat is with police because he made a show of himself, because he acted as if working in an official capacity. Even though the Times says Murat was acting as “an official translator”.
So now the man in the chinos, with the glass eye, who lives with him mum and whose estranged wife, from Hockering, near Norwich, tells a neighbour “How could someone do something so terrible to little girl like that?’ is all over the papers.
Is Murat guilty? The papers produce nothing to indicate that he is. But if Murat is involved, look out for the stories of how British journalism cracked the case.
And look out for Madeleine McCann. Still missing…

The parents of Madeleine McCann have contacted the lawyers of a man charged with murder who successfully challenged sniffer dog evidence. His lawyers claimed it was unreliable and persuaded a judge in the US to throw out prosecution claims that the dogs had detected the smell of a corpse.
Kate and Gerry McCann hope that the case could help them to prove their own innocence.
Two British sniffer dogs, one capable of detecting blood and human remains, were taken to Portugal in early August to help in the investigation. The dog picked up a “scent of death” on numerous items, including Mrs McCann’s clothes and her daughter’s favourite soft toy.
During police interviews the McCanns, both 39, were repeatedly shown a video of the animal “going crazy” when it approached their hired Renault Scenic car.
Mrs McCann could not explain it, but the scent of bodies remains detectable to the springer spaniel “cadaver dogs” for years and her legal team concluded that the scent could have come from her contact with corpses during her work as a doctor.
K…according to this the dogs are British, so not part of the Portugal Smear Campaign. According to this the smell is in the car, on Kate’s clothes and on Cuddle Cat?
Kate says the death smell came from her job? Well, how many dead people did Kate carry around, in the trunk of that car? while holding Cuddle Cat? will working.

something just doesnt add up
I just read that the children were check at 9.10 and at 9.30 and Maddie was missing at 10.00..but i thought Gerry said at his 9.30 check Maddie wasnt in the bed with the twins any more? He said he thought she moved to the parents room? Also read that some of the checking of the children was listen at the door and not actually going in the room?
Now was it the dogs from the UK that found “the scent” of a dead body that had to be there for 2 hours? Do these dogs have something against the Mccanns?
Seems like all the police and press have a problem with the Mccanns.
I dont know what to think any more…..

maybe they can use some of the money to sign up for some parenting classes?
Some people say they should not be judged for leaving the kids alone NUMEROUS times? Well…If they werent left alone Maddie would still be with them!!
How can anyone say they didnt have anything to do with it? That would be like me saying, I’m SURE the Mccanns the did it!! That is just an opinion. I have no real proof either way.

if the McMann’s are such “GOOD PEOPLE” then why would they go out and leave their small children alone!!!!!! waken up please, would you leave 3 small children alone? they are suppose to be adults, to leave the children alone makes them IDIOTS, keep protecting them, and I guess you believe 3 small children don’t need to be protected right? take the other 2 small children away from them,before they are left alone again,

The Mccanns had NOTHING to do with their little girls death, it amazes me that a few people really believe that. It’s so CRAZY. The Mccanns are AMAZING, strong people who need all the support they can get. The Daily Mail reported today that one of the senior Portuguese detectives involved in this case is accused of concealing evidence that the mother of another missing girl in portugal was tortured by police into confessing that she killed her daughter. Now the Mccanns are getting the same treatment. Gosh these detectives sure do a great job!!!! I’m thrilled to hear that Richard Branson is helping towards the Mccanns’ legal costs. He is a superstar. If I had the money I would be helping in that way too. I believe that poor little Madeleine was taken by some sick pervert and all this nonsense is delaying getting on and finding her. The portuguese are desperate for a conclusion to this case. They are sick of it and feeling inadequate because they have messed up and they don’t know where to go from here. What better way than to put the blame on the poor mother. Takes the pressure off them. How dumb of people to think that a mother would kill her child and swan off to dinner!!!! GET REAL!!!! Some may think bad of them for leaving the children but I don’t think they would have considered it if they hadnt felt it was safe. Yes it was a huge mistake but dont you think they know that? Dont hate them for it and judge them. Imagine living with that. The people that dont feel for the Mccanns are cold and callous and yet thats what they accuse Kate Mccann of being…. and they dont even know her!!! I’m sure she’s not always as brave as the face she puts on for the cameras.

everyone stop and think, when the parents answer a question or making a statement there not really lying, (we had nothing to do with maddies abduction) well if one of them was the cause of her death then she wasn’t abducted, again why would they leave the little ones ALONE? perhaps to cover up what they already know, and to come home to the apartment and say they took her, I say MADE UP to COVER UP,why were they left alone???? no baby sitter

And what about a lie detector? it’s times like this that make me think that the polygraph is either a load of crap or the police are too scared it might make them look weak if they need to use one!? a polygraph might not be 100% reliable but then either have forensic DNA test results from past cases! especially when DNA contamination is all over the place.. but at least a polygraph might help a little bit extra.. a little extra help in this investigation is better then a little less!!
(assuming that the polygraph is at least a successful piece of equipment)!!

well my head is all over the place today with questions and thoughts.
I just found a recent clip of Kate and Gerry and I felt uncomfortable with his body language when he was asked about the overdose. It’s the first time I have seen him act nervous and uneasy!
Then again if someone asked me that question I would feel strange..

yes the police should have kept the apartment, car everything in custody because of questions rising about them . now im sure that they looked into who owns the car and just haven’t released details. which is what they are supposed to do but haven’t been. i really hope they do arrest someone soon. then the proof they think they have will have to be brought out for all to see. this is developing into a she said, they said type of situation
look at page 9 of today’s daily mail. look at the body language. look at the distance between them. how shes looking at him and hes staring in front. shes clutching onto him but hes not touching her. in the position hes in he should be touched her knee at least. im no expert but i suggests to me hes not so sure of her innocence. or hes a cold man who keeps her at a distance

I am glad I am not the only one here with that question!
They seem so focused on trying to prove the parents to be guilty that they are missing important things out!
Who hired the car out to who before the McCann’s ?
Why was the hire car still being used after the DNA samples had been discovered and not preserved in police custody?
The other thing I find unprofessional and utterly disgusting was that the villa was being rented and lived in by other family’s on holiday after the abduction of Madeleine!
It should have been preserved for further investigation.
It would seem odd not to have discovered Maddie’s DNA samples in and around anything that has come into contact with the family!
Kate and Gerry Innocent or not..this investigation is too narrow!

The question that I would like to ask is, Who had hired the McCanns rented car on the 3rd May 2007 and who used this car between 3rd May and 28th May 2007 before the McCanns hired it; or who had access to this car when it was not hired between 3rd May and 28th May 2007. This car could have been contaminated with Maddies fluids before the McCanns hired this car on the 28th May 2007 or even after they hired this car by a person/people unknown to implicate this grieving family in a crime they did not commit and take the onus off the real suspect or suspects. I hope that the McCanns are proved innocent in time.

I just read the latest update!
Reports this morning say tests on bodily fluids found in her parent’s hire car indicate that she had taken a large amount of sedatives.
This news has no doubt made the parents even more of a suspect.
Both parents have described reports of an overdose as “ludicrous”…
I think that is an odd thing to say! even though they are saying that to defend their case!
why would an overdose be ludicrous? If I had nothing to do with the disappearance of my child and had not have given her an overdose of sleeping pills then I would be thinking the kidnapper had done it!!
why would the kidnapper not had done it?
If the kidnapper/murderer just wanted to kill a person quickly he would have done it there and then.. and he also would have killed the siblings! his motives were different though (assuming there is a kidnapper) so he/she would indeed rely on sleeping pills or something to silence/calm the victim to make whatever his/her plan easier! surely that makes sense!? a sedative however takes time to work! he/she would have needed to have been around when the child was awake so before bedtime!
Before commenting on the test results the parents would have had time to think about it! and in that time (assuming they are innocent ) it would have come to mind that the kidnapper/killer would have indeed fed her the overdose! but instead they decide the overdose is ludicrous!
Even with all the latest evidence going against the parents I am finding it so difficult to even imagine them being involved with the disappearance of their own child.
All of the exposure in desperation to find Madeleine has been enormous, but, not successful in the return of their daughter! Successful enough though to grab the hearts and tears and prays of so many people. After all of that the last thing you want to believe is that one or both of the parents have any involvement in the death, overdose, disappearance of little Madeleine.
I don’t find it very comforting that an investigation has not been held at the hire cars company and their staff! and perhaps the people that the car has been hired out to before it was hired out to Madeleine’s parents!

nice one about the missing blanket. how about it wasn’t her body but the blanket that was put in the car. it could have had blood and if she was a head injury hair on it. if she was dead for a couple of hours before they found her, it would have the ‘corps smell’ . that gets around this hiding and moving the body. this is that one thing i have a hard time with. it also avoids the defence that they were under supervision by the media and it would have been very risky to move a body. since either new place wasn’t searched the blanket could have been there.
i do think other people were invioved. the party was more interested in blaming Murat instead of telling the truth. i wondered if social service will be investiate ithh doctor who left his sick child alone while he had his dinner.

With the discovery of a clump on Madeleine’s hair in the boot of the hire car plus ‘bodily fluids’ (read putrefaction liquid, not blood), there are ONLY two possible scenarios:
1. Madeleine was murdered or died accidentally (more probable) in or very close to the apartment. In the latter case, her body was discovered either by the father or the mother who, with or without the collusion of one or more of the friends, wrapped the body in a blanket (one missing from the apartment) and hid it in the area excavated for roadworks near the church. The mother made a confession to the priest on the same night. No sniffer dogs were used to look for a body during the first few days. Once the keys to the church had been obtained by the parents, they moved the body into the church where it remained in a closed compartment for a further three weeks. Subsequently, with the priest getting nervous about the implications (and possibly the smell), it was insisted that the body be removed. It was placed under the boot mat in the tyre well and buried either somewhere within the church grounds or an area of road or building works ready to be filled.
2. The McCann family was being watched by one or more persons within the police force prior to the disappearance (check the photos with the bald headed black guy before and after the disappearance about two-thirds down this web page http://master-of-fate.spaces.live.com/ ). The person(s) in question abducted and later disposed of Madeleine, then used the body to plant biological materials in the vehicle. Prior to the arrival of British forensic specialists, the body was taken to the apartment (rented by the police) in order to impregnate certain areas with the smell of a cadaver.
Is the first scenario is true, the body will probably, eventually, be found and the cause of death determined. In the second scenario, no body will ever be found.
Whichever scenario is true, the fact remains that this little girl has been severely let down not only by her parents but also by the Portuguese police.

Kim, I am amazed at your suggestion that I am gloating at the treatment of the McCanns. Why would I take pleasure in the “Fatal accident” “murder” or “abduction” of a little girl?. It is logical to consider all possible scenarios, particularly, as Madeleine has still not be found. The suggestion that you are decent because you believe in the McCanns’ innocence and those who keep an “open mind” are indecent is laughable.
The problem remains that this situation is no laughing matter!. Incidenatlly, I hear that the McCanns’ are to use the “fighting Fund” to pay for their legal costs!. I thought that the fund was to be used to find Madeleine.If it were me, given that the PJ are “setting them up” ! I would be employing the best private investigators to find my child.

kim…..in case you have not noticed…people that think Kate and/or Gerry have something to do with Maddie’s disappearance are not making up the info. They are just going by the news that has been posted for all of us to read. No one knows what is true and what is not at this point. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. After hearing the blood found in their rented car trunk is more than likely Maddie’s, I think people have to wonder. The only fact we have is Maddie is missing. No, I dont know the Mccanns, but they themselves have confirmed they left their children night after night to go out. We did not make that up. As far as if Kate or Gerry or any of their friends had a hand in this, we may never know. Is Maddie alive or dead? We dont know! The police said that the case may be solved, BUT they dont think Maddie will ever be found. I dont want to believe that a mother could harm her child and then get rid of the body, but this has happen in other cases. I dont want to believe Maddie is dead. But look at what we have been told. Sorry to say it does not look good. And like i mentioned before WHY would the UK and Portugal Police want to place blame on the Mccanns if they did not have evidence?
I believe most of the people who post here do so because they are upset because an innocent child is missing and we all want her to be found alive and soon.

Oh Pleeeease! still cant quite believe how nasty some people are. You all seem to be loving this! Not for one second do most people believe that the parents played any part in this. Nobody knows the facts so why dont you all just get on with your lives and stop talking all that rubbish day in and day out. Have you all got nothing better to do. Star certainly hasnt! People like you want it to be true i think. You seem to really enjoy gloating. You all sound like a bunch of gossipy mothers outside the school gates! I mean these accusations are so ridiculous that they would almost be laughable except it isnt funny because now these poor people are going through even more hell. God forbid if anything awful should happen to any of you, wonder how you’d feel if people accused you of something so terrible. The Mccanns are professional people and in their jobs they need to be strong. Not everybody shows their emotions the same way. You have no idea how they are behind closed doors and you have absolutely no right or reason to judge. How could anybody possibly have faith in this investigation when it seems that it has been completely botched from the very start. I like most decent people am very sure of the Mccann’s innocence and am with them all the way. They have been AMAZING throughout, poor, poor souls.

It seems possible to me that the McCann’s left Portugal for the following reasons:
1. To ensure that in the event that they are charged and arrested, the twins at least will be at home and under the care of their family and friends.
2. Hoping for the protection of the English Government and British Press.
Did you notice, that Kate McCann used one of the twins to hide her face whilst Gerry read out their ’statement’ which incidentally was exactly the same statement read out previously by their PR represenative in Portugal, and finally the first show of ‘emotion’ by Gerry the trembling voice ! oh please !!.

Well…looks like mom dad and the twins are home. Will the cameras still follow them around? Will they go back to work? What will become of the twins? What has become of the search and arrest in the UK? How are they suspects and yet allowed to leave the country of the scene of Maddie’s disappearance? What will become of the fund? What will become of the investigation now? What has become of lil Madeleine? So many unanswered questions. IMO Maddie never left Portugal. Didnt the Mccanns say they would stay thru Sept?(cant remember but thought that is what they said) How come they left NOW?!?!?
