Madeleine McCann: Robert Murat And More Questions
MADELEINE McCann is missing. Still missing.
But today there is news. The daily front-page shots of Madeleine’s traumatised parents are moved further within the papers to make space for the head of Robert Murat.
“MADELEINE BRITISH MAN IS QUIZZED!” says the Mirror’s front-page headline.

After the speculation the paper delivers a welter of facts. Robert Murat lives with his mum. Robert Murat is in his 30s. Robert Murat lives with his mother in a villa 150 yards from the apartment where Madeleine McCann was snatched.
The Sun (“MADDIE: BRIT QUIZZED”) says Murat lives 100 yards from that McCann apartment. Like the Mirror, the Sun produces a front-page picture of “one-eyed Murat”. The Mail hears that Murat lost his eye in a BMX accident when he was a boy. The Mail says Murat lives 80 yards from Madeleine’s holiday apartment.
Murat is “stocky”. He offered to help the police hunt as a “translator”. He lives in Casa Liliana, with his mum Jenny.
The Suspect
The Sun’s Julie Moult considers the evidence. And delivers a piece entitled “stories of a fantasist”. “He always seemed so eager to get involved in the police investigation,” says the Sun’s woman–on-the-scene. “Robert claimed he had a daughter just like Madeleine and said he felt compelled to do anything he could. But to me he seemed like classic fantasist.”
The Sun introduces Martin Brunt, the crime news correspondent from its sister organ, TV’s Sky news.
He says Murat told him he’d been taken inside the McCanns’ apartment by police.
Sky news correspondent Ian Woods says he asked Murat to help him speak with locals.
“I met him and had a conversation with him. I tried to find out as much as I could about him,” says Woods, who checked out Murat’s details. “They did check out, and I left it at that for the time.”
The Mail’s Neil Sears also spots Murat. In “My encounters with a man ‘who just wanted to help’”, Sears tells Mail readers, “There was something more to the friendly expat who called himself ‘Rob’ than met the eye.”
Murat made Sears “feel slightly uncomfortable”.
But it was the Sunday Mirror’s Lori Cambell who alerted police to Murat’s behaviour, she saw as “creepy”.
Writing Wrongs
So much for investigative journalism. Questions were asked but nothing more was done. Murat is with police because he made a show of himself, because he acted as if working in an official capacity. Even though the Times says Murat was acting as “an official translator”.
So now the man in the chinos, with the glass eye, who lives with him mum and whose estranged wife, from Hockering, near Norwich, tells a neighbour “How could someone do something so terrible to little girl like that?’ is all over the papers.
Is Murat guilty? The papers produce nothing to indicate that he is. But if Murat is involved, look out for the stories of how British journalism cracked the case.
And look out for Madeleine McCann. Still missing…

This may sound very insensitive and its not right what happened. BUT WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING ABOUT LEAVING YOUNG KIDS ALONE IN A HOTEL ROOM WHILE THEY WENT OF ON A JOLLY. ME AND LOTS OF OTHER PARENTS WE HAVE SPOKE TOO; WOULD NEVER DREAM OF DOING SUCH A THING, THE PARENTS NEED TO BE PUNISHED FOR NEGLECT!!! I can not fatham the logic of parents leaving young kids alone in hotel rooms alone just so they can have peace and quiet. If that is what they want leave the kids at home with loved ones or freinds and have an adult holiday. They need to tale a long hard look at them selves and stop blaming others. IF THEY HAD NOT LEFT THEM ALONE THIS WOULD NOT BE HAPPENING!!!.

I’m not sure words can describe how this situation has made me feel, I have a young daughter and can’t imagine for a second what it must be like for the McCann’s, my thoughts and hopes go to this family and that they are reunited with their Madeleine. But, it has been too long without sign, my heart is wanting her to be alive and well, but my mind is thinking that it’s too late, she is gone – The saddest feeling I have ever known.
Whether Murat is involved, I’m not sure, there are a lot of coincidences, but these are found anywhere if you look hard enough. I suppose this is the problem with this situation, we are not given enough information by the authorities and thus, media hype takes over and we’re left with rumors and possibilities. We need fact and we need Madeleine back, and as we all hope, alive.
I’m left with a complete sense of helplessness, what can one person do in a situation like this but offer a sign of support and await news, it’s just not enough.

Heavensabove , you are right, i was being vague with my comment, just feeling down etc…
but quite alot of abusers were also abused themselves, which is what drives them to do it…so if you deal with as many as possible, it reduces the risk of more & people being abused…& becoming abusers etc…testosterone removal,get rid of those sexual feelings atleast etc… gggrrr!

It was his ex-wife and a friend and their children from what I can gather. No doubt they are going to a safe house so investigations/press interest can continue without them there.

I’ve just been reading the comments on this page. I was listening to the news late last night and I’m sure on the finishing headlines it said two children under towels had been removed from robert’s ex wifes home in the UK. There is no mention of this either on the Tv or the internet today……….I’m sure I didn’t dream it but it seems to have disappeared from the case. Did anyone else haer this? Unless it was the family who live where she used to as I believe the house is under police guard

only problem is kirsty - I wonder if castration would resolve the issues these sick people have - I doubt it very much - they would still have the sick urges and would only use alien objects if they are unable to the bits that have been castrated…….i think the safest bet would be to ‘do away’ with them - at least that’s permanent.

Yes Paul I agree - these people don’t just mess up, they have been involved in this kind of activity for some time. The intensity grows and grows until the inevitable. IF this guy is guilty, he will have some form of data on his PC to support this. Unless of course he is very clever.

That’s the problem Crystal - I think we are grasping at straws through helplessness. Sadly we feel Murat is our only hope at this stage. If he is guilty, then I feel sorry for him because his life will be ruined - people never forget.

You know..I think I WANT it to be Murat b/c it gives me hope. If it is him then the police are onto something and he is caught and we may still find her. If he’s completly innocent…then where do we go? What other leads do they have-Spain? its so overwhelming, and I sit here in TX able to do nothing and I feel so helpless…

how strage that maddy has an eye problem and so does Murat. And I agree with the possibility that her looking like his daughter offers possibilites. Yes I think he is involved. There a re too many coincidenecs. And a guy taht age should not live with his mum. But I fear maddye may not be alive. Murat is probably a genuinely nice guy who has simply done a very silly thing. It’s a one-off. He’s probably been brewing something like this for years. But like everyone else I hope she is alive.

I just got off the net here (4pm eastern time) that they released the guy they had been questioning-Murat- b/c there was a lack of evidence. But they’ve kept his cell and computer, and he kept advising the authorities to follow leads suggesting that she has been taken to Spain! Do you guys have anything else newer?
