Madeleine McCann: Robert Murat And More Questions
MADELEINE McCann is missing. Still missing.
But today there is news. The daily front-page shots of Madeleine’s traumatised parents are moved further within the papers to make space for the head of Robert Murat.
“MADELEINE BRITISH MAN IS QUIZZED!” says the Mirror’s front-page headline.
Robert Murat
After the speculation the paper delivers a welter of facts. Robert Murat lives with his mum. Robert Murat is in his 30s. Robert Murat lives with his mother in a villa 150 yards from the apartment where Madeleine McCann was snatched.
The Sun (“MADDIE: BRIT QUIZZED”) says Murat lives 100 yards from that McCann apartment. Like the Mirror, the Sun produces a front-page picture of “one-eyed Murat”. The Mail hears that Murat lost his eye in a BMX accident when he was a boy. The Mail says Murat lives 80 yards from Madeleine’s holiday apartment.
Murat is “stocky”. He offered to help the police hunt as a “translator”. He lives in Casa Liliana, with his mum Jenny.
The Suspect
The Sun’s Julie Moult considers the evidence. And delivers a piece entitled “stories of a fantasist”. “He always seemed so eager to get involved in the police investigation,” says the Sun’s woman–on-the-scene. “Robert claimed he had a daughter just like Madeleine and said he felt compelled to do anything he could. But to me he seemed like classic fantasist.”
The Sun introduces Martin Brunt, the crime news correspondent from its sister organ, TV’s Sky news.
He says Murat told him he’d been taken inside the McCanns’ apartment by police.
Sky news correspondent Ian Woods says he asked Murat to help him speak with locals.
“I met him and had a conversation with him. I tried to find out as much as I could about him,” says Woods, who checked out Murat’s details. “They did check out, and I left it at that for the time.”
The Mail’s Neil Sears also spots Murat. In “My encounters with a man ‘who just wanted to help’”, Sears tells Mail readers, “There was something more to the friendly expat who called himself ‘Rob’ than met the eye.”
Murat made Sears “feel slightly uncomfortable”.
But it was the Sunday Mirror’s Lori Cambell who alerted police to Murat’s behaviour, she saw as “creepy”.
Writing Wrongs
So much for investigative journalism. Questions were asked but nothing more was done. Murat is with police because he made a show of himself, because he acted as if working in an official capacity. Even though the Times says Murat was acting as “an official translator”.
So now the man in the chinos, with the glass eye, who lives with him mum and whose estranged wife, from Hockering, near Norwich, tells a neighbour “How could someone do something so terrible to little girl like that?’ is all over the papers.
Is Murat guilty? The papers produce nothing to indicate that he is. But if Murat is involved, look out for the stories of how British journalism cracked the case.
And look out for Madeleine McCann. Still missing…

Until your own child is abducted, there is no way you can judge how you or anyone else would react.
Plenty of people suffer serious injuries and simply look at the injury in shock.

It’s hard to think of it, but it can’t be ruled out that Madeleine’s parents may themselves be responsible for selling their daughter on; ensuring that the leads would be thin after her disappearance. In her most recent interview, the mother’s answers do not sound convincing as to the effect Madeleine’s absence has had on the other children. And the way she holds on to that doll is somewhat dubious in playing up her sense of loss. Hmmm. Maybe I’m terribly cynical… but the body language doesn’t tally; nor the fact that they’ve been able to go jogging in the last days. I can’t imagine how I would react in such circumstances, but I would probably not go jogging.

Now I realize sites such as this are helpful in many ways. Who to trust and who not to trust can take time. Titles, degrees, religion, fancy resorts etc. often create a false sense of security. A person with a good soul cannot be recognized by their wealth, profession, social standing or accomodation. In reality the parents thinking they were in a safe place to leave the children alone appears based on an idea that they were somewhere no wicked souls frequent. There are good souls, lost souls, wicked souls everywhere. There is no bell that rings if a wicked soul inters the resort. It is possible the parents were seated next to a lost soul. The bottom line is we all must do everything we can to protect what we care about ourselves. While choosing accomadations, schools, doctors and dentists keep in mind lost and wicked souls can be dressed up, titled, socially accomplished… It appears the parents mistake was having a false sense of security. Often parents are called over protective, intimidated, in such a way they go against their basic instincts. Social workers advise people in ways that often go against instinct. I had to learn the hard way to question all advice. Regardless who agrees always do what feels right in the heart knowing who will live with the end result. One thought is the parents likely have little street experience with lost or wicked souls, meaning hungry desperate people who steal, murder, etc. My guess is the parents have much more experience than some of us regarding the ins and outs of white collar crime, the lost and wicked souls that intentionally give unnecessary surgeries, falsify medical files, rip off insurance companies daily, etc. My point is that while the parents appear negligent to some of us because they felt it was safe to go to dinner many of us are victims of unnecessary surgeries which sometimes result in serious injuries or death for the very same reason, a false sense of security thinking we are somewhere safe where no lost or wicked souls could exist. While the parents are frustrated with the police some of us would be frustrated with the inability to find help at medical licensing boards. The parents are likely wise to the reality of the lost and wicked souls they often deal with but maybe less aware of the realities in other areas. Some people are smarter about being physically assaulted, robbed, murdered because of whatever experience or reason. I think most of us lose a false sense of security from having a bad experience or exposure of some kind but most often in such a way that can’t be compared to the reality Madeleine’s parents have lost theirs. Maybe one way to help is to remind parents who appear to have a false sense of security of the danger by giving statistics and telling them about children such as Madeleine. Often people are only guilty of having a false sense of security and I think that was the case with Madeleine’s parents. For now it appears there is a chance of finding Madeleine alive and that is the most important area to focus. People are doing such a great job helping instead of relying strictly on police or government agencies. Hopefully there will be a happy ending. I hope so! As for Mr. Murat. I believe it is important to investigate him if necessary but whatever happened should be reported factually. The real news is that he was questioned, he was released, he is still a witness. Reporting ethics are another area to question and give careful consideration. There are some lost and wicked souls in reporting too. Life here on earth can be dangerous. People can actually help by taking action that keeps energy flowing in the proper directions. Maybe each of us could adopt a missing person to help find by putting up pictures, sending e mails, etc. ??????????? Sites like this are very helpful due to all of the various perspectives to consider.

Helen - I agree with you totally!!!
I have a stronger opinion about the parents. I know that I will get nasty comments from some for writing this but it needs to be said.
After reading the many articles on this kidnapping I was more disgusted with the parents than anyone else. How on earth can you go and have a jolly good time all the while leaving three children, who might I add may not even be able to have full conversations yet, alone in some hotel room in some resort in a foriegn country!?!? When I read that they were educated professionals I wondered, how the hell did they get through school with their logic? I mean really, does it sound ok to you when someone says- Oh but we checked on them every half an hour, so we were taking good care of them… Yes ok, sure that would be ok if you were in the next room not 50 yards away!
Did they think of the multiple dangerouse things that could happen while they were not there for the 30 minute intervals? Let me list some for you so you can understand what I mean…
- child/ children get up from her sleep and looks for her parents, manages to get the hotel room door open and walks out. When you are that small you get by un noticed.
- child gets up to go to the bathroom (assuming she is potty trained) and drops a glass and cuts herself badly, how long does it take for her to bleed so much it becomes fatal? Remember she probably weighs around 25 pounds ( I think that is about 2 stones?)
- child gets up and goes to the bathroom and makes a mess with the water and slips and hits the back of her head, falling unconciouse. I wonder what a severe concussion does to the functions of a 3 year old…
- Someone comes to the hotel door and starts knocking, waking the little girl up. In her innocence she opens the door and the person knocking takes her.
Oh yeah wait werent they staing at a ground floor apartment? My God!!!
- child awakes and goes to the kitchen and starts playing, she manages to turn the stove on and burns her hands. Imagine being that young and not understanding why it hurts so much and not being able to do anything about it, or how to treat it?
- child awakes and goes to the kitchen and starts playing, she opens a drawer with sharp knives in it and starts to play, I’ll spare you the details of what can happen to her or the other children while she plays not knowing the dangers.
- child awakes and wakes her siblings up. They start playing hide and go seek and one of them hides in the refidgerator. The door closes and the child cannot get it open the pther children keep playing innocently not knowing what is going on. I wonder how long it takes for a child to have hypothermic symptoms? Again the child weighs about 25 pounds.
- I am assuming that there is a pool at this resort - Child gets up and leaves the hotel room, walks out and comes accross the pool and decides to jump in. You figure that one out on your own…
- child gets up and leaves the hotel room, wonders off and finds stairs. Child climbs up stair and trips. Again the graphics of that I leave to your imagination.
- The window is open in the room the children are sleeping in, a person comes thinking they are going to rob the tourists and instead take a child.
- The windo is open in the room the children are sleeping in, child climbs up and goes out the window….and so on and so on…
These are just a few of the possibilities that could have or may have happened.
I pray that the little girl is found and is well, however, I do not think that she should be returned to the care of her parents. I also think that the children they have should be taken into costody. If these people can get away with such negligence what does that say about the system? If this would have happened in their hometown and they were low or lower middle class, authorities would have taken thier children.
I have absolutely no sympathy for the McCann couple, they should feel guilty about the abduction. As for calling thier actions a mistake (HA!) It is not a mistake, it is absolute negligence! I am sure that they knew better, they were just stupid enough to think that they were the exception to the risk.
I hope that this story makes parents think twice when they think the same way as the McCanns did.
May 25th, 2007 at 9:05 am
Hi Leanne,
The raeson they are being Re-questioned is standard and they are purely Recording (for the future) their statements.
If you recall the parents were at the police station twice the 2nd time was to record their evidence so this is also the case.
I have not heard that the 3 were the same description as the 3 in question with regards the garage. If they were the 3 clearly showing Madeleine then I am sure that they would of been arrested and charged before now.
I feel that she maybe still local as my theory is that they took her then went into hiding planning their escape but with all the media and press they are trapped near the location laying low.
If a lady is involved then my beleif is that she is still alive but if it were only men than I would not like to guess.
Remember it does take a long time to fully investigate everything and with regards DNA etc this too takes time.
I am wondering why the police had their suspicion the following day with regards Murat and put tabs on him….strange.
he also has another investigation pending does anyone know what this was.We maybe getting carried away a little but the fact still remains Murat is the only known official Suspect…Why::::
God bless Madeleine wherever u rxx
Come home safe.
May 24th, 2007 at 10:52 pm
i agree with what your saying but surely they would have been arrested by now , i dont understand the law there but i suppose maybe the police have released all 3 in a hope they will slip up and lead the police to madeline
May 24th, 2007 at 9:55 pm
Ian I agree - Derek Acorah is poo!! Also agree about Tony Stockwell but Sally Morgan is bloody good too.
Its so worrying isnt it - nothing - no news - nowt…. although I saw on the news that the german woman and her husband are being re-questioned…. it has to be them on the CCTV for the police to question them again surely?? Cuz it would be a bloody big coincidence that all 3 people matched their descriptions exactly?? You might get one looking like one of them but for all 3 of them to match? And have a girl that matches Madeleines description too?? Surely not a coincidence?
May 24th, 2007 at 5:53 pm
I do not rate Derek or Colin Fry
I have seen them both and not that impressed.
I went to a Colin Fry gig last week and was not keen.
The best one in my opinion is
Tony Stockwell. http://www.tonystockwell.com
Check out a site called http://www.briansprediction.com
this is very fascinating if this is your thing,
Come home soon Madeleine.
God bless XX
Look closer to home I feel.
There is no smoke without fire..
IF THE ABDUCTORS ARE READING THIS
PLEASE GIVE HER BACK SAFE:
WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND:
May 24th, 2007 at 5:39 pm
they should get in physics! i am sure Dereck Akora would do it for nothing.
May 24th, 2007 at 2:53 pm
Hmmmmmmmmmm or MI for Michaela
the GEN Wasn’t the older guy who was questioned, the one who spoke fluent Italian or something called GENaro?
I thought that about the CCTV too.
God I’ve got to get a grip and stop trying to be Angela Lansbury. IDIOT.

http://www.ROMIGEN:COM
website of Murats.
RO-Robert
Mi-Milenka
Who is the GEN ?
NO PROPERTIES FOR SALE-Strange when its a real estate
BAD GERMAN GRAMMAR (she is German so why have bad grammar if its your new business venture)
NO RENTALS-
Why did the website go down for changes 1 week prior and who authorised this-Could not be Murat as he has no website skills.
could not be Milenka as he claims not to of spoken with Murat in 1 year-
SO WHY WOULD A WITNESS CLAIM HE SAW THEM TALKING AND HAVING COFFEE 1 WEEK BEFORE THE DISSAPEARANCE.
I SMELL A RAT…….
FACT FROM ISP-
Murat reguraly goes on the internet (daily)
FACT-
He did not use the internet for 1 week after Madeleine went missing…
Why?????
Why did Murat claim to reporters his daughter had the same name?
Why did he refuse to state his surname
why would he not do an interview if he is so helpful
mmmmmm
Gets the brain cells ticking over.
Bring in British police dogs-Why do the Porteguese police objetc.
Murat in my book has something to hide.
Why was in instantly put under observation the following day.
What is the other police matter he is helping them with prior to this.
Why did he have a telephone conversation with Melinka @ 23.40 the night this little girl dissapeared.
What a coincidence that the cctv cameras went down 2 weeks prior and the owner did nothing about it.
Why did the police dog trail end at the supermarket.
why is the handsome (not) Murat so camersa shy.
WHY WHY WHY:
IF CONVICTED
FRY FRY FRY
May 24th, 2007 at 1:29 pm
I hope they find the monster(s) who did this - who do they think they are ! - A proper search of the local area should be done - for all we know she could be next to the supermarket where her scent went cold - have the apartments locally been searched - if this was my daughter I would be making my own house to house enquiries……
Good luck to the McCann family - I have great admiration for you but will this help find Madeleine ?
Love and wishes - I will always keep a look out for Madeleine. XXXXXXXXXXXX
May 24th, 2007 at 1:14 pm
Absolutely everything and every word has to be investigated in this case lilke all other cases.
I dont know if Robert Murat is guilty or innocent i just feel what if he is innocent where do we go then will you be as free to say you got it wrong as you are to call him names.
Inspector morse you certainly are not, you are all to hysteical, the parents are staying calm, we should not judge why this is so we have never been in their situation, so we don’t know what we would be like.
I understand why the parents would want her called madeline as this is probally the only name she would respond to if someone spotted her.
I must say i do agree leaving their other children in creche is strange with the resourses available to them surely they could be cared for side by side with their parents.
May 24th, 2007 at 12:16 pm
Sinead,
If thats the case why are the McCann s doing an international tour.
Do they beleive that she is in Europe if so WHY?
Why not carry out door to door localy.
It seems to be getting like a pop group tour to me..
Why should we fund them being there after all they are both Drs on a terrific wage and I doubt they are short of a few quid…
Why not go to such lengths for ALL these little children going missing everyday.
I blame the sytem for being TOO SOFT.
So Mr Brown if your watching TOUGHEN UP ON THESE ANIMALS:
God forbid if it were one of mine I would not be as calm as the parents
and I would demand answers.
BXXXXXXCKs to their so called “secrecy laws”
Make an exception for once and DO SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE.
FIND MADDY.
21 days and No news-What a joke.
Bring in someone who knows what to do.
Lets face it half or the Porteguese top brass are Pedos.
Bring back the capital punishment.
How come the parents look so calm.
I would be a wreck and BEG for information everyday.
Just hope the police know more than we do if not God help us all.
If the abductors are caught they may get 180 hours community service or something else as soft.
These Judges need to get real and live in our world.
I wish that I could stand for PM I would make some drastic changes and if any one dare even think of this act I would make some strong examples of these Bxxxxrds.
VOTE FOR IAN in the next campaign.
I will introduce back Hanging.
I would tell these soft judges to make examples or get rid of them
I would even tell the queen a few home truths about Her Poxy country.
Sorry but get really peed of with the UK.
Come home soon Maddy & GOD BLESS you wherever U R xx
One peed of british citizen!!!!!Ashamed to be BRITISH.
May 24th, 2007 at 10:48 am
Ian - I also think it’s very possible they are being given info that obviously can’t be shared with us or the media. The police wouldn’t want the culprit getting a sniff of them knowing or having a clue who could be involved. It’s very possibe.
May 23rd, 2007 at 6:51 pm
I wonder if the parents truly undertsood thier incompetance of leaving the children alone in the unlocked room… would they have left thier travelers cheques and money on the table in an unlocked room while they went out ???? I highly doubt it!!!.A childs life is far more precious than money ever was so if they would not leave thier money in fear of some one taking it why leave thier children alone?? … In an ideal world Madeleine would be found unharmed but this is not an ideal world we life in unfortunatly. In my heart of hearts I just wish I had the parents belief that Madeleine is still alive and well…
May 23rd, 2007 at 6:28 pm
I hope this little angel is re-united with her family soon.
Just a few questions -
Are the McCanns being told any inside information that we or the media
do not know about-
The 3 people at the petrol station-was it Murat or any of the other 2
Have the police carried out door to door or even vetted and checked the hotel staff.
Do people feel that this little girl is still local or she has been moved away.
Whatever the answers I hope she returns safely.
I do blame the parents for leaving the children and it is their mistake but I think that they are punishing themselves enough.
I am afather of 4 and would never dream about leaving my kids alone in bed in a foreign country without any supervision its just criminal.
Come home soon maddy.
I think that the justice system is too soft when they do convict these animals.
let the parents have 30 minutes with these Bxxxxxrds in a locked room.
May 23rd, 2007 at 3:21 pm
It would just be my natural instincts that wouldn’t allow me to sit tight. I just know I couldn’t do it. Obviously they have the best advisors (although I still feel their post on the website this week was strange) around them and not being a common situation for them to be in, they are doing what they think the professionals are telling them is right. But she still hasn’t been found. She may never be found now. I’m not saying if they had ran, crawled or swam across Europe that they would have found them, it’s just something I would feel I had to do - get more involved in searching instead of sitting around waiting. I hope I am never faced with such a choice and that Madeleine is found so they can have closure whether it’s a happy or sad ending. It’s the not knowing that makes it so hard.
May 23rd, 2007 at 1:18 pm
Sinead, that’s ridiculous. Don’t you think the McCanns ARE “doing whatever they have to do to find their child”? You don’t think experts in these matters are advising them on what IS without a shadow of a doubt the route most likely to reunite them with their child?
Let me get this straight: Rushing aimlessly in an arbitrary direction, chasing shadows, would be your tactic, rather than working with a huge professional network of police investigators, with the equipment, expertise and resources to carry out an international investigation. Not to mention the immediate access to the international press pack that is sitting on their doorstep right now – a key component in keeping their daughter’s name and face right at the forefront of people’s minds.
I understand that as a mother you would probably feel like you HAD TO BE DOING SOMETHING, but who’s to say that whichever direction you’d be rushing in wouldn’t be further from your child, not nearer? The McCanns have the right tactics, there can be no debate about that.
May 23rd, 2007 at 12:45 pm
A little harsh Greg. I think N.Richards was just trying to make a point and I would have to agree with it. If it was my child (and please once again and I am NOT slating the McCanns, they are doing what they feel is right) I too would be crawling, swimming, doing whatever I had to do to find my child. I certainly wouldn’t be stopping in one place relying on others to find her. Not wanting to get into an argument about it but do you have childeren Greg? I sweat with fear when my daughter goes out of sight for 2 seconds in the supermarket nevermind in a foreign country for 2 weeks.
May 23rd, 2007 at 12:07 pm
they have taken two people in for questioning for the second time just now-murat is not one of them.
also -i know what you mean terry but this maybe could bring more attention and help for other missing children-its got the ball rolling in other words
May 23rd, 2007 at 12:00 pm
The main difference, I suppose, is that this is clearly a case of abduction of a very young kid, rather than a case of a child going missing – in which context “child” usually means 14- or 15-year-old, and “going missing” means running away from home.
May 23rd, 2007 at 11:31 am
Another thing….don’t want to sound heartless, but 80,000 kids go missing every year in the UK. 20,000 of those are never found. Why is all of this media attention focussed on one of 80,000? It has been non stop for a fortnight. What is going on here?
May 23rd, 2007 at 11:28 am
Murat has been tarred…..no doubt…..say his name backwards…..Tarum….Tar Um…..Tar Im ……Tar Him
May 23rd, 2007 at 11:05 am
Reply to N.Richards:
First: If “all you can think about is poor Madeline”, why can’t you even spell her name correctly?
Second: The reason Robert Murat would approach someone high-profile such as Max Clifford is that he, understandably if innocent, wants to CLEAR HIS NAME, not make a profit. Can’t you get your little brain round that?
Third: “If it were my kid, I wouldn’t need money, publicity to navigate the world to search for my kid; if I had to swim, run or crawl i’d be there.” Would you? That’s laughable. In the REAL world, you need money to carry out a search like this. You need publicity for as long as you can sustain it, in order to keep your child in people’s minds. But what would YOU do? Oh yes, you’d swim across the Med, eating seaweed as you went, then crawl through the Maghreb, sleeping under the stars every night. I’m sure you’d find them.
Try using your brain before commenting next time, huh?
May 23rd, 2007 at 9:45 am
baffled by morons - if everyone is entitled to free speech, why do you criticize steve for expressing his opinion?
And there is no need to get personal - that is playground behaviour and a sign of immaturity.
May 22nd, 2007 at 11:41 pm
STEVE- i hope you realise how bloody ridiculous you sound, youve just slagged everyone off for exactly what your doing! LMAO bored were we?
at the end of the day, even if Murat is found to be innocent, hes still not some1 id like to admit to being friends with, hes a weirdo & a total liar, so as you said, everyone is entitled to their oppinion & i will use my freedom of speach however i wish, now run along & play sudoku or something …
May 22nd, 2007 at 10:08 pm
I pray for all your souls. Robert is a great friend and for this to happen to him and his family means that you should all be very, very afraid. Your right to free speech comes at a terrible price for some of us. Guard it well and use it wisely.
Just pause and imagine what it would be like for you. You throw someone a lifeline and they pull you in and they try and drown you. What a sorry tale, what would you do? You live locally, speak fluent Portuguese and are one of those rare breeds….a good samaritan.
I hope he and his family never changes that would be a great loss to everyone.
May 22nd, 2007 at 8:42 pm
I agree with the the earlier poster that the odds seem limited of finding Madeline alive, now. A lot of focus has been placed upon the parents (their grief), now all I can really think about is poor Madeline. I do believe that the publicists have ill advised the family. The story is fading;as too are the posts on this site , everyone now believes the child is no more. I certainly won’t be donating any money to fund the faimilies expeditions around the world.
Robert Murat has approached Max Clifford for representation ( god forbid). o.K if he is innocent, why approach such a high profile character? , all he wants is money, for his plight; even if Is innocent the fact that an individual would wish to seek financial renumeration from the abduction and murder of a child is beyond, me.
To all of his friends, shame on you for supporting such a calculating individual in his latest endeavours. In fact the whole episode is awlful. If it were my kid, I wouldn’t need money, publicity to navigate the world to search for my kid; if I had to swim, run or crawl i’d be there.
In fact, the whole episode leave a sorry taste in one’s mouth and I have decided to refrain from posting on this site until Madeline is found alive or dead. I will not contribute towards the the accumulation of profit for the Macann’s or the Murats.
Final word : Hope you are well madeline
May 22nd, 2007 at 8:14 pm
I have also been wondering if all this media attention is doing as much bad as good. Surely if someone still had her they wouldn’t want to hold her for fear of being caught. It’s horrible I know but it’s more likely after this length of time. I hate it. The poor little thing has been through so much.
