Madeleine McCann: Robert Murat And More Questions
MADELEINE McCann is missing. Still missing.
But today there is news. The daily front-page shots of Madeleine’s traumatised parents are moved further within the papers to make space for the head of Robert Murat.
“MADELEINE BRITISH MAN IS QUIZZED!” says the Mirror’s front-page headline.
Robert Murat
After the speculation the paper delivers a welter of facts. Robert Murat lives with his mum. Robert Murat is in his 30s. Robert Murat lives with his mother in a villa 150 yards from the apartment where Madeleine McCann was snatched.
The Sun (“MADDIE: BRIT QUIZZED”) says Murat lives 100 yards from that McCann apartment. Like the Mirror, the Sun produces a front-page picture of “one-eyed Murat”. The Mail hears that Murat lost his eye in a BMX accident when he was a boy. The Mail says Murat lives 80 yards from Madeleine’s holiday apartment.
Murat is “stocky”. He offered to help the police hunt as a “translator”. He lives in Casa Liliana, with his mum Jenny.
The Suspect
The Sun’s Julie Moult considers the evidence. And delivers a piece entitled “stories of a fantasist”. “He always seemed so eager to get involved in the police investigation,” says the Sun’s woman–on-the-scene. “Robert claimed he had a daughter just like Madeleine and said he felt compelled to do anything he could. But to me he seemed like classic fantasist.”
The Sun introduces Martin Brunt, the crime news correspondent from its sister organ, TV’s Sky news.
He says Murat told him he’d been taken inside the McCanns’ apartment by police.
Sky news correspondent Ian Woods says he asked Murat to help him speak with locals.
“I met him and had a conversation with him. I tried to find out as much as I could about him,” says Woods, who checked out Murat’s details. “They did check out, and I left it at that for the time.”
The Mail’s Neil Sears also spots Murat. In “My encounters with a man ‘who just wanted to help’”, Sears tells Mail readers, “There was something more to the friendly expat who called himself ‘Rob’ than met the eye.”
Murat made Sears “feel slightly uncomfortable”.
But it was the Sunday Mirror’s Lori Cambell who alerted police to Murat’s behaviour, she saw as “creepy”.
Writing Wrongs
So much for investigative journalism. Questions were asked but nothing more was done. Murat is with police because he made a show of himself, because he acted as if working in an official capacity. Even though the Times says Murat was acting as “an official translator”.
So now the man in the chinos, with the glass eye, who lives with him mum and whose estranged wife, from Hockering, near Norwich, tells a neighbour “How could someone do something so terrible to little girl like that?’ is all over the papers.
Is Murat guilty? The papers produce nothing to indicate that he is. But if Murat is involved, look out for the stories of how British journalism cracked the case.
And look out for Madeleine McCann. Still missing…

I read in a paper that the McCann’s did not check on their children every 30 minutes as said initially, but it was 50 minutes when they discovered that Madeleine had gone missing. I wonder if they went for Tapas every evening! Not a lot of information has been given regarding their holiday.
Whoever took Madeleine obviously knew the McCann’s routine.

As a parent even a grand parent, I cannot understand how the McCann’s are behaving.
I think the Portuguese police my be using the old tried and tested method of give them enough rope and they will hang themselves, to whoever they have the evidence on.

I’m new to this forum, but what I don’t get is why they didn’t hire a PI the first day their child was missing? OK, PIs don’t have a 100% success rate, but they have a 1000% better success rate than the (always under-resourced) police. It’s not as if they’re short of cash. This happened to my family, sis’ two kids were snatched - the youngest was 3 and the eldest was 5. They were found within two weeks of their disappearance. We are not a rich family but we stumped for the PI, and I can say personally that I would have worked three jobs to pay for it (my sister took on a second job, plus borrowed money from our parents, who were retired).
How is going jogging and going to see the Pope(?) going to find the little girl? I personally think the McCanns have had AWFUL advice from the get-go, are still getting awful advice, and are doing the wrong thing by not hiring a PI.

Ian - regardless of what you think, we all do give a damn. And calling others ‘pathetic’ and ‘miserable’ is also slagging is it not you hypocrite? I think it is fair to say though that there are always going to be disagreements and arguments in forums like these. So WAKE UP.
You are seriously deluded though if you think info in this forum will find Madeleine (as great as that would be). So if it bothers you so much to see people argue why don’t you stop reading this forum (which is not bringing anyone closer to finding Madeleine) and go stick up posters?

ther is a little girl somewhere and she needs finding fast.
How many of you have actually placed a poster in your car and home,i reckon on maybe 20% or less.
Well go and do something constructive its the least any of you can do.
If you want to go and slag each other off then why not exchange emails and do it in your own space and in private.
Pathetic though some of you are I apologise to those who actually give a damn.
Lets hope she is home safe and sound very soon so we can stop having these pathetic people with miserable lives slagging each other off constantly.

Nice language Kirsty - just because you abbreviate does not change the fact that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. What a poor example you must be to your kids with that filthy mouth.
I doubt the McCann’s who you criticize for poor parenting are as common and trashy as you are. Go get some soap and then some tweezers to remove that plank.

how do you know what you would do? people have horrible accidents and sit there numbstruck not feeling pain with shock. I was run over a few years ago, and sat on the pavement laughing (i had smashed my kneecap to bits)
and no i’m not having a bad weekend simply voicing my own OPPINION (sic)
I’m sure they are coping the best they can, to mantain their own sanity for the sake of 2 little children who need some normality too.
Not everyone is like you kirsty, some people are made differently. My husband has never raised his voice in all the time we have been together, never raised his hand to anyone. I have never seen him act anything but calm and composed no matter what traumas we have faced over the years.. all I am saying is just because they are not coping the way you would doesn’t make them bad people.
for what it’s worth… me?? i’d be screaming like a banshee and the police would probably have had to restrain me from not killing Murat.. but that wouldn’t have really helped. so I admire the mccanns like i admire my husband for their cool collectiveness in any situation.

A good investigator will look at all possibilities.
I’m just providing one. It doesn’t make me sick.
What’s sick is that the little girl was taken in the first place.
Parents abuse their children all the time. Maybe no
one you know, but it does happen, a lot.
Take a look at the Jon Benet Ramsey case in Boulder, CO
in the USA and you’ll see where this case could go, if indeed
the parents were involved.
Open your eyes and stop attacking posters. No one here
knows this case better than anyone else. Were all just as
shocked as you and gather here to help ease our pain and
maybe help.
Every possibility should be examined.

i hear ya george… i know that it does the body good to get excercise & im sure knackering yourself out will help you sleep at night, but it doesnt matter what anyone suggested i do, i could not go jogging, or putting on those dangly earrings & other jewellery, or turning my socks down neatly… i would be out in the street screaming like a looney! & no, i know it dosnt look very good, & councellors & the media will say dont go screaming, but who cares what you say? if i wanna scream my missing daugters name im gonna scream her name!
i would also be marching straight over to murats house to beg him for any info… reguardless of whether or not he really is a suspect, but just because the police were interested in him & there is a chance he might know something i also couldnt put my other 2 kids in day care while i go off putting make up on & talking to the press… i would want them by my side 24/7 after what has just happened. They make me sick!

Bad stuff can easily happen. When my Sister was little (6 yrs. old), the Dentist told my Mom he needed a few hours to work on her and there was no reason she had to stay, my Mom trusted the guy, family Dentist for years, good reputation. The Dentist put my sister out completely when he worked on her so she remembered nothing. She recalled seeing blood on her underwear one day and feeling some pain, but she was a little kid, she didn’t know what it meant.
Years later, my little sister found out she was not a virgin the first time she had sex. Then, memories started coming back to her. By then, the Dentist was long dead and there would be no way to prove it anyway.
You should never leave kids alone, even with people you think you can trust.

Ok. Daddy was doing the daughter and she threatned to tell. Mom convinces him to take the fam to Portugal for a little R&R and to arrange for the abduction and murder of Dad’s little lover. Abduction and murder occur, smokescreen of Murat is there to shield the parents. Next, they’ll call in the Boulder, Colorado police to compromise the evidence and let the parents walk. Case closed.
