Madeleine McCann: Robert Murat And More Questions
MADELEINE McCann is missing. Still missing.
But today there is news. The daily front-page shots of Madeleine’s traumatised parents are moved further within the papers to make space for the head of Robert Murat.
“MADELEINE BRITISH MAN IS QUIZZED!” says the Mirror’s front-page headline.
Robert Murat
After the speculation the paper delivers a welter of facts. Robert Murat lives with his mum. Robert Murat is in his 30s. Robert Murat lives with his mother in a villa 150 yards from the apartment where Madeleine McCann was snatched.
The Sun (“MADDIE: BRIT QUIZZED”) says Murat lives 100 yards from that McCann apartment. Like the Mirror, the Sun produces a front-page picture of “one-eyed Murat”. The Mail hears that Murat lost his eye in a BMX accident when he was a boy. The Mail says Murat lives 80 yards from Madeleine’s holiday apartment.
Murat is “stocky”. He offered to help the police hunt as a “translator”. He lives in Casa Liliana, with his mum Jenny.
The Suspect
The Sun’s Julie Moult considers the evidence. And delivers a piece entitled “stories of a fantasist”. “He always seemed so eager to get involved in the police investigation,” says the Sun’s woman–on-the-scene. “Robert claimed he had a daughter just like Madeleine and said he felt compelled to do anything he could. But to me he seemed like classic fantasist.”
The Sun introduces Martin Brunt, the crime news correspondent from its sister organ, TV’s Sky news.
He says Murat told him he’d been taken inside the McCanns’ apartment by police.
Sky news correspondent Ian Woods says he asked Murat to help him speak with locals.
“I met him and had a conversation with him. I tried to find out as much as I could about him,” says Woods, who checked out Murat’s details. “They did check out, and I left it at that for the time.”
The Mail’s Neil Sears also spots Murat. In “My encounters with a man ‘who just wanted to help’”, Sears tells Mail readers, “There was something more to the friendly expat who called himself ‘Rob’ than met the eye.”
Murat made Sears “feel slightly uncomfortable”.
But it was the Sunday Mirror’s Lori Cambell who alerted police to Murat’s behaviour, she saw as “creepy”.
Writing Wrongs
So much for investigative journalism. Questions were asked but nothing more was done. Murat is with police because he made a show of himself, because he acted as if working in an official capacity. Even though the Times says Murat was acting as “an official translator”.
So now the man in the chinos, with the glass eye, who lives with him mum and whose estranged wife, from Hockering, near Norwich, tells a neighbour “How could someone do something so terrible to little girl like that?’ is all over the papers.
Is Murat guilty? The papers produce nothing to indicate that he is. But if Murat is involved, look out for the stories of how British journalism cracked the case.
And look out for Madeleine McCann. Still missing…

I don’t care what the parents have to do as long as it keeps the story in the news, because 1 individual out there knows where Madeleine is, the Mccanns are correct, the public hold the key to this. Someone somewhere knows where she is!

Just reading the recent posts here and sean you are right. That Kirsty sounds like a Mad Doctor May of Eastenders.
Kirsty is sopposed to be helping damaged kids, well God help hers.
The graphic laungage and insults she throws at people are a simple sign of low intelligence and can be easily explained by her obsession she feels, that it is her right to demeen other people who are just trying to show some compassion for this sad sittuation and throw some helpful light were shadows lurk.
Such low quality attitude is extreemly unhelpful and certainly uncalled for.

As a mum what I can’t get is….why the parents are still in Praia de Luz?? AFter they were told that she was seen in Morroco, if it was me, I would be screaming “right get me to Morroco NOW” I would be looking everywhere myself not waiting on the police to tell me daily that there is no sign.!!

Why does Murat not go on Sky news and state-
I can not go into any details regards the case but would just like to state for the record that I am totallty innocent of anything to do with the abduction of Madeleine.
If I were ordered by police not to speak to press I STILL WOULD STATE THIS after all they are making me out to be guilty.
IT IS A PERSONS RIGHT TO DEFEND THEMSELVES and he DOES NOT HAVE TO MENTION the case therfore not breaking the law.
If innocent do this but I am afraid i feel he IS GUILTY:::::

I agree with you 100% on that Ian. If I was being falsely accused of something I would be doing all I could and I mean ALL I could to prove my innocence but he doesn’t seem to be doing this. It’s getting more and more frustrating and you’re right, the longer this goes on, the more likely it is that they’ll never find her. So sad.

I can not help but to think that she has been taken away for the wrong reasons now after 28 days.
A man was spotted I wonder if it was Murat and with this but no other evidence have made him a suspect.
Sick child porn does also point to this conclusion.
Mobile phones even turned off will pin point where the phone/culprit was.
I wonder if police are following this,also the dog trail did it lead near to Murats home or away from it.
i beleieve that the person/s was watching the McCanns and I bet they even frequented the bar not necceraliy that night but prior and observed the parents pattern of checking on kids.
Did Murat ever go or work in this hotel if so he would know the lay out and the babysitting facilities etc.May even have a key.
I feel that she was taken for a sadistic reason and is within a10 mile radius in the hills or wateland never to be discovered or found later by chance.
I hope I am wrong but do not think shye was taken to give to a childless couple if thats the case why not take the younger child.And my guesss would be that the couple would of by now dropped her off.
I also do not think its a pedo ring as she has a marking in her eye and they would not take the risk of people seeing this.
I beleive (gut feeling) Murat on his own has done something bad.
Sorry to accuse without proof but something does not add up with regards Murat.
I do hope that I am proved wrong and she is found safe and well,But after all this time it looks like she will never return.

I have to strongly agree with the point about the lack of road blocks and how long it took for them to realise how serious this was. I was screaming at the TV the following day saying she’s well gone into Spain or France at this stage and could even be in Russia or China within a few days (I know nothing about how easy/hard it is to get across the boarders outside Europe but I’m just saying it’s possible for all that journey to be done by car or cars with numerous people) Now that was when I thought she had been taken to sell on.
Now I’m not so sure. She could still very well be in another country but there seems to be more and more evidence (albeit circumstantial) piling up against Murat and the police have to be very carefuly about realeasing such info if they weren’t sure about it because Murat could seriously taken them down for slander. Child porn on his PC doesn’t prove he took Madeleine but it does prove he’s a scum bag pedo and can surely be charged for having such vile images on his PC. Am I wrong?

another California case….in 29 palms…… parents and 2 kids were camping….. parents let 2 year old daughter and 8 year old son trek over to the restrooms……the 2 year old was never seen again….parents searched for over a decade….her picture on all the milk cartons…..finally some bones were discovered…..this all many years ago now…..
circumstantial evidence all points to murat…..why did he have a rental car? where did he go in it? mom is probably covering for him…mothers often do….
also…..british police investigator who specializes in kidnappings went t the scene……said portg police were lax…..NO roadblocks of any kind for over a week?!

I actually just read the news today in the grocery isle. This is so unreal. Such a sweet and innocent girl who’s never even learned how to tie her shoe. I have a five year old son. I couldn’t imagine leaving him alone. In America, it would be very unwise to do such a thing. This is child neglect. I am astonished that they did… but… they are feeling that impact in their hearts. You can bet that they are. But they have accepted what they did and moved on. This goes to show, that parents are not perfect no matter how rich or poor.
However, I wish them great determination in finding their daughter and that they never give up. I don’t know if it’s happened or not, but I am hoping the U.S. will step in and help seek this little girl as it is very easy for anyone to get into the United States.

Again, I was amazed at the fact that the Mccanns friends were not interviewed. It now seems that they were and I wish to reiterate that The McCanns must have left their children on their own previously and the abuductor had observed their pattern of movements. I am not saying that they had it coming; god only knows. I had believed that poor madeline awoke and left the apartment to look for her parents which would be in line with their accounts. But if she was taken from her bed; that takes observation; planning and execution. The parents also need to come clean, confession with the Pope?

The vital witness, a close friend of Kate and Gerry McCann who was holidaying with them and other friends in Portugal, was on her way to join Madeleine’s parents for dinner at a local tapas bar at 9.30pm when she saw a man with a blonde girl wrapped in a blanket. She was wearing “distinguishable” pink pyjamas, the woman has told police. Madeleine had been wearing pink and white pyjamas when abducted. The woman saw the man close to the open window of the bedroom where Madeleine, then 3, had been sleeping with her two-year-old twin brother and sister, Sean and Amelie. She thought his behaviour was unusual but assumed that it was a father taking his sleeping daughter home and had no reason to think it suspicious.
“He was walking urgently, neither running or walking but something in between,” the source said.
“It was only when Kate said that Madeleine had gone that she made the connection. She had seen enough to make her believe it was Madeleine and she had described the pyjamas, which were distinguishable. She feels guilty that she was the last person to see Madeleine and didn’t do anything, but there is no sense of hostility (from the McCanns).”
it just makes you realise how close madeleine came to not going through it at all … iv gone bck to being just as upset as i was when she was 1st missing now, no more hopes of it being a nice family who bought her bla bla , this latest news on murat just makes it all doom & gloom again.

I did state earlier that I would refrain from posting on this site until Madeline was found because I actually found the ‘fundraising’ aspect distasteful. Thankfully, that particular activity has been curtailed and I hope that the McCanns will honour their pledge to donate the funds to other charaities committed to finding the thousands of missing children that we, the public never hear about once this sorry episode concludes.
As I have stated previously, I found that the circumstantial evidence about Robert Murat was quite damning and indeed the ‘pornography’ appears to now be child porn. Where are the posters ‘friends’ who swear by his character ( I bet you’re in hiding now). If you are his friends, perhaps it’s time to convince him to ‘own up’.

Some of the posts here are really quite cold and cruel. The parents were a bit naive, and made a mistake, but there is no need for people to be putting the boot in - I think the McCanns will be suffering quite enough at the moment. Nobody could have possibly anticipated a child being kidnapped from inside their apartment. As for linking the McCanns with the crime, its just plain stupid and makes me despair.
As for the investigation the Portuguese Police are on the right track. I beleive that the Portuguese Police know exactly who took Madeleine but they haven’t quite got enough evidence yet. There are also expert UK forensic psychologists and experienced paedophile cops on the case (5 UK cops have been spotted in Portugual in recent days, some of whom were taking measurements of the McCanns appartment among other things) as well as Portugals top people.
I think the Police will get a conviction in this case but that finding Madeleine, who could even have taken out to sea, will be more problematic.
I just hope and pray thats she’s safe and well.

yeah … when i was pointing out her earrings etc… i still wast implying i thought they did it, i was just explaining why i cant stand to see them because they sometimes dont seem as bothered as you would think i guess, but then who knows, maybe the earrings were a present from madeline? so thats why she keeps them in etc… & yeah they look like shit, but still IF they were involved- again not accusing just looking at all the possibilities … but IF they were, id be thin & pale too, with worry that our little plan didnt work & shocked at all he attention the case is getting … but, even though alot of these cases do turn out to have been a family member who commited the crime, i dont actually think they really did it, but if i was going to choose between either of them i would say it was the dad & not the mum , but again, i dont actually think they did it-either of them, i still think theyr disgusting for what they did …
jesus, a month ? i am starting to see why so many people think shes alive becase we are so used to bodies being found by now i guess.

Hi Kirsty - yeah 4 weeks - so so sad. I can understand people wondering how Kate can look so “well” with her make up, earrings, etc. but you just wouldn’t know what kind of advise they are being given. They seem to take great strength from their faith - personally I lost all of mine when my Mother got cancer when I was 16 and losing my child wouldn’t bring it back - but that’s just me personally. I know alot of people do take great strenth from religion. Whatever works to try and stay remotely sane I guess. But I have to say the two fo them have lost so much weight. You can really see it in their faces. I honestly don’t think they are involved in any way (apart from leaving the kids alone in the first place) I just keep hoping and have a strong feeling that Madeleine is still alive.

Wow! Everyone take a deep breath. I can’t get over those posts over the weekend - people having a go at eachother and slagging eachother off. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. At this point ANYTHING is possible regarding this case and the longer it goes on the more time our minds have to come up with more and more possibilities. Attacking someone over spelling or abbreviations should not even be an issue here.
This friend of the McCanns who says she saw someone carry a child in a blanket that night Medeleine went missing - first of all it was reported that it was an “object” which could have been a child but then yesterday they were saying it was a child. I assume the police have known this since the night Madeleine vanished? I can guarantee you there is so much we don’t know.
And can I just say that I totally agree with Kirsty regarding going crazy trying to find my child (and yes that includes trying to speak to Murat - don’t care if he’s the main suspect or not, this is my child that’s gone missing and I would do ANYTHING to find her) I would imagine I would be the same but then as some others have said you just don’t know what way you would react til it happens to you. No need to slag people off for “thinking” what way they would react. I hope nobody here ever has to go through this in the first place to find out! They should be looking and searching for the little girl not behaving like pop stars visting the pope and requesting to visit David beckham and also using a private jet.
Whats this I hear about them taking out Insurance on Madeleine and not checking half hourly but hoyrly.
