Madeleine McCann: Robert Murat And More Questions
MADELEINE McCann is missing. Still missing.
But today there is news. The daily front-page shots of Madeleine’s traumatised parents are moved further within the papers to make space for the head of Robert Murat.
“MADELEINE BRITISH MAN IS QUIZZED!” says the Mirror’s front-page headline.

After the speculation the paper delivers a welter of facts. Robert Murat lives with his mum. Robert Murat is in his 30s. Robert Murat lives with his mother in a villa 150 yards from the apartment where Madeleine McCann was snatched.
The Sun (“MADDIE: BRIT QUIZZED”) says Murat lives 100 yards from that McCann apartment. Like the Mirror, the Sun produces a front-page picture of “one-eyed Murat”. The Mail hears that Murat lost his eye in a BMX accident when he was a boy. The Mail says Murat lives 80 yards from Madeleine’s holiday apartment.
Murat is “stocky”. He offered to help the police hunt as a “translator”. He lives in Casa Liliana, with his mum Jenny.
The Suspect
The Sun’s Julie Moult considers the evidence. And delivers a piece entitled “stories of a fantasist”. “He always seemed so eager to get involved in the police investigation,” says the Sun’s woman–on-the-scene. “Robert claimed he had a daughter just like Madeleine and said he felt compelled to do anything he could. But to me he seemed like classic fantasist.”
The Sun introduces Martin Brunt, the crime news correspondent from its sister organ, TV’s Sky news.
He says Murat told him he’d been taken inside the McCanns’ apartment by police.
Sky news correspondent Ian Woods says he asked Murat to help him speak with locals.
“I met him and had a conversation with him. I tried to find out as much as I could about him,” says Woods, who checked out Murat’s details. “They did check out, and I left it at that for the time.”
The Mail’s Neil Sears also spots Murat. In “My encounters with a man ‘who just wanted to help’”, Sears tells Mail readers, “There was something more to the friendly expat who called himself ‘Rob’ than met the eye.”
Murat made Sears “feel slightly uncomfortable”.
But it was the Sunday Mirror’s Lori Cambell who alerted police to Murat’s behaviour, she saw as “creepy”.
Writing Wrongs
So much for investigative journalism. Questions were asked but nothing more was done. Murat is with police because he made a show of himself, because he acted as if working in an official capacity. Even though the Times says Murat was acting as “an official translator”.
So now the man in the chinos, with the glass eye, who lives with him mum and whose estranged wife, from Hockering, near Norwich, tells a neighbour “How could someone do something so terrible to little girl like that?’ is all over the papers.
Is Murat guilty? The papers produce nothing to indicate that he is. But if Murat is involved, look out for the stories of how British journalism cracked the case.
And look out for Madeleine McCann. Still missing…

heeeheee Ah it’s crazy for people to come onto a sensitive forum like this and start slagging eachother off, that’s all I’m saying. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and if you don’t like what someone says or how they spell then there’s no need to go off on one over it. Whoppppaaaaaaa (that’s the sound of my whip!)
Now back to what we’re here for - I have seen the photos on Sky News of Kate and Gerry meeting the Pope and I find them really sad. I understand people questioning their “celebrity” tour but if it makes them feel that it’s doing something then let them go ahead. Nobody knows how they would behave in a situation like this. It’s sad all round, no matter whose fault it was or how it came about. I just feel that I want to hug the two of them when I see them on TV.
I keep hoping that if Madeleine is still alive, that she’s being looked after but the more talk I hear about this child porn the more concerned I get.

I think the police know more than they are letting on, they are only releasing what information they have to.
Like I have said I admire the Mccanns strength and tenacity, and I’m sure they are getting very good advice, following it is what must be much harder for them. And I’m sorry but seeing someone post that their behaviour makes someone ’sick’ made me angry, because I am human, not odd.
I am just a normal married mother of two daughters with a psychology degree, my husband owns his own business and I work as a teaching assistant in my daughters school. We are British and we own our own home.. Not odd, tho by todays standard probably a minority.
No need to get your whip out Sinead, I’m off. I left the name calling behind at school and i certainly don’t need to stay here to be insulted for having a different opinion.

john boy, thanks for that, but as i said, it doesnt matter what anyone says about me, as i dont know you, & you dont know me, Kath clearly has some issues & she brings them to this forum, thats up to her though. there are a few other people on here that are just as bad, but we dont seem to have heard from them for a while . people are so quick to bitch but dont bother to check if they are acting just as bad as the peple theyr having a go at, but, oh well, i suppose its soemthing to talk about while theres no news on meddeleine, & it is quite entertining

Wow Katrin that is a seriously intersting post. I too had some of those thoughts but didn’t know how to word them correctly. Look at those 2 boys they found a few months ago in America. They had been missing for ages and in looking for one boy the police found 2 of them with the same man. Amazing - there is still hope here.
The points being made about the police only giving us so much info or purposly misleading info (as said by Ian) - this is correct I am sure. It makes sense. Why would they tell the public everything when the supect or suspects are still at large! Can I just tell you that when Sky News interviewed Ian Huntley after the girls had gone missing, I said to my husband and brother he has something to do with this and they laughed at me. He was the school caretaker - he looked nervous and had obviously not slept. I just had a really strong feeling. I hate to acuse before solid proof but I’m feeling the same way about Murat and his mother - her setting up of a stall and all that malarky - too strange for me. Just an opinion though, that’s all.
ps I’m getting my whip out (refer to my previous post on that one!)

Kath i have read through all of the posts, so maybe you should go back & read them again before you say you havnt insulted anyone, becuase your behaviour & the way you speak to people IS odd, so i agree with the people who called you that, but to tell someone that they make YOU sick , just for saying their oppinion on something-thats pathetic, & makes you look like such a hypocrite!- because thats exactly what your doing isnt it, you dived on her -yet again,for saying something you didnt agree with, & you went as low as to say she made you sick-as i said, you are odd Kath, no dount about it & i think your oppinion of who ‘we’ meant was presumtious

Hi Katrin, thank you for that, are people really that sick? i cant believe it! things just keep on getting worse. well although it is a shame about all the other children that go missing never having this kind of high profile publicity, atleast the more we hear about techniques of catching the abductors, or what goes on in their head, the more we learn about how to protect our own kids & what to look out for in the future

As far as I can see, the reason this is still in the public eye isn’t because she is blonde/pretty/middle class or anything else. It’s because her parents are fighting tooth and nail to keep it there.
I’m sure any parent in the same predicament would want to do exactly the same thing.
Yes they could sob and fall apart, but how long would that be newsworthy for? So they are travelling, thinking of new ideas to keep the story in the news.. And succeeding from what I can see! Here we are a month on still talking about, It’s still commanding at least 2nd story on every news bullettin, so what they are doing is working. We are all still talking about it, all still aware, we haven’t forgotten it as last weeks news.
Yet the British public just loves to knock people down!
If they had sobbed on the Tv for a week and nothing else everyone would had said ‘awwwww I hope Madeleine is found’ But you would have forgotten it by now. But these people are prepared to tolerate your ridicule, In fact I don’t think they really care what ‘we’ all think of them, as long as we are still thinking about it.
I for one admire their tenacity !
Here is my opinion, posted on the appropriate thread, or do I now have to copy it on every thread to prove my ‘worthiness’ to the conversation? I have offered a great deal of opinions and thoughts as you will see if you read through.
And I haven’t attacked anyone, not once have i resorted to name calling or insulting people. I simply do not agree with Kirsty and felt her ‘everyone’ was a bit presumptious.

Its immature because you seemed to have nothing else to say. its like you are lurking & waiting for someone to say something you dont agree with so you can attack them. she was replying to S, not starting a conversation up, so i agree, you are vey childish Kath, perhaps you would be better suited to a different forum that does’nt deal with such serious issues.

Hi all
This is my first post. Been doing a lot of thinking about this case. I believe stuff is going on behind the scenes we don’t know about (and not just for Portuguese legal requirements).
First, Gordon Brown’s involvement. When he agreed to help, I don’t think he just rang the Portuguese police and asked them to release the McCann’s friend’s description of the man who abducted Madeleine. My thought was that he probably got MI5 and MI6 involved.
Second, why would he do that (if he did)? Because paedophilia and child trafficking is huge these days. Too huge and growing, and it is part of government policy to crack down on the users. But what about people who generate the porn?
If it isn’t for porn… We usually associate girls being trafficked in Eastern Europe and Asia. I don’t know if any of you saw the miniseries Human Trafficking? Well, it made the point that some of these guys want white flesh for a change from brown flesh. You can’t exclude the possibility that some rich man has ordered the abduction of a pretty white girl. This would seem to be borne out by the reported sightings of people with cameras and spying on the holiday complex prior to the abduction. maybe Madeleine’s somewhere in the Far East by now.
The memory thing — how much can you remember now about when you were four years old? Is memory linked to language? Suppose she is being kept hidden and taught a different language? I don’t know enough about this. Maybe someone does on this site? It seems to me that with time, a child could assimilate into another culture/language/everything.
I think the telecomms guys who nailed Huntley over Soham are working on the McCann case, and will be able to link up the movements of the suspects with the timeline on the case.
The only thing I wish I could understand is what attracts people to have sex with children. Is it a dominance thing? Is it impotence/inadequacy? Is it a dislike of grown-up women both physically and psychologically? I hear there’s a profiler on the case.
Finally, just about the McCanns. I have read they are being advised on how to portray themselves. Apparently abductors have been known to get off on parents’ grief. On that sick and sorry note, I will sign off.

if i have to point out why your being immature, then your worse than i thought … if i had said something that was actually worth discussing & that actually directly spoke about everyone here , then fair enough, but i didnt , but you just sit & wait for someone you have had a dissagreement with to say something so you can jump on them- THATS immature. there isnt a single person iv spoken to that doesnt agree that it makes them angry … so even though im sure it was more than obvious to normal people what i meant, thats what i meant by everyone - which is just a figure of speach incase you didnt know. i dont owe you, or anyone else an explantion for anything, but i do feel i need to answer you, because i feel sorry for you & theres clearly alot of things you dont understand-& im not the only one who thinks so, as you know from other negative comments you have recieved… but i dont care what anyone thinks, nor do i care for commets about me-good or bad, becuase none of us know each other & nothing anyone says has any impact on my life. so if it makes you feel batter Kath , go for your life, but its your time your wasting

If the police are not acting on this sighting as very urgent then the chances are they know a hell of a lot more about this than we all put together.
A girl from the midlands was raped and murdered (Heather Tell) the police released a load of misleading info not relevant to the case ie-The suspect description,The direction,his transport ie a push bike,The exact times and witnesses had come forward,Having known the CID dealing with this (close friend of mine on the case) I know that the police do only release small sometimes misleading /incorrect info in the hope of giving the Criminal a false sense of security.I know for sure that the police hold a lot of info back so not to hamper the case and if and when they apprehend the suspect only the police and the real suspect knows the true facts this is how they solve a lot of crimes.The killer was Micheal Chidgey,Divorced with grown up kids living within 1 mile of the murder scene and I knew within 1 day that the killer was local from my connections with the CID and that they were clñosley watching him and gathering DNA and other evidence.They did not Arrest him at first just merely questioned himalong with many others and Murat not go and defend these clamis on live tv stating he is in fact innocent but can not discuss the case that is not against the law so he will not be thrown in jail as he reckons.
He is hiding a lot more than we are letting on.
Was the ID of a man in fact him but this would be deemed circumstantial evidence and not enough to convict him without DNA or in fact a confession.

I thought the Morocco thing wasn’t up to much when I first heard it as Madeleine was kidnapped around 21.30hrs, and the main suspect made landline calls from his home late the same evening - thus only giving him a few hours at most. And certainly not enough time to get to Morocco and back. I was assuming a lone perp.
However today in the press Police say they are looking for a British sailor who had a boat at a nearby marina but hasn’t been seen since Madeleine disappeared, and who had “suspicious” (Daily Express 29/05) emails with the main suspect. A witness also saw a man taking a small child to the marina on the night in question.
It might not be beyond the realms of possibility that Madeleine was taken onto a boat and whisked away - after all this kidnapping is clearly one that was organised and planned. It could also explain why there is still no trace of Madeleine ?
On another note the Police should arrest and charge Murat for being in possession of obscene material and Murats friends and family should be having a few words with him.

And Susie - I never even thought about to Morocco issue - there hasn’t been much mention of it lately but definately time to fly there - it could well be a wild goose chase but when it’s a possibility it’s worth trying.
