Madeleine McCann: A Long Story
MADELEINE McCann: a tale of urban myth, xenophobia, and baseless accusations. Carol Sarler in the Times:
Down there in the aching panic of Portugal, there are many things they do not need. Investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann is not helped by psychics, prurience, false sightings or – at least as distracting from useful effort – by the intrusion of urban myth. And yet, over the past ten days, we have watched it flourish with unedifying ease.
The first mention I heard was on the Today programme, when Kerry Grist was invited to resurrect memories of the disappearance of her 21-month-old son, Ben Needham, 16 years ago on Kos. Still her main suspect, she said, is the huge, organised trade – involving everyone from social workers to (of course) gypsies – wherein children are stolen then sold to the childless. Astonishingly, Today offered no challenge whatsoever to this assertion; not so much as a gentle question.
Within days, this “organised trade” took its place in the wild line-up of theories relevant to Madeleine. Phone-in hosts let it into discourse, again unchallenged, as did tabloid speculation; by the weekend, even The Sunday Times, also revisiting the Needham case, bought it. It stated as fact, that, with special preference for blue-eyed blondes, “Racketeers are known to have abducted toddlers in Greece to sell to wealthy childless couples”. Really? So show me the case studies. OK, just a couple, then. Even just the one . . . anybody?

The British Opinion Is sympathetic towards Madeleine. All three kids are IVF children. If anyone that reads this, has experienced the trauma of IVF just to get one baby, let alone three, you would appreciate where I am coming from. I do not know if anyone has seen the photographs of where the tapas bar was and the vicinity of the apartment. It was a long waya away. I can not bear to even look At the parents now in the news. I think that Social Services should definately take action as this is neglect. Instead they are being allowed the freedom and celebrity press coverage, and being treated like Posh & Becks. This is wrong. I do not know whta is happenening to the world but what happened to justice. If these two people wewre not in the medical profession and not a GP AND Anyethatist they would have benn held accountable for their actions by the British Justice system, and Social Workers would definately be involved. I can not believe that the Pope gave them an audience. He is very outspoken, but they were lucky as he was also very sensitive to their cause and very gracious. I wonder what he was really thinking as he is a very intelligent gentleman. Hundreds of people go missing every year. What about Them ???? Should they be on the news as well every day??? They are also someones son someones daughter, someones Father Mother. I really do hope that Madeleine is found, the prime suspect, remains the prime suspect & the Portugese Investigation continues to go around and around. Robert Murat has sourounded himself with Lawyers and Protection Orders. Why would he do this ??? He also has refused a Lie Detector Test. Again Why ???. Why have a room blow ground in your garden and consealed from vision. Murat even resembles an eye witness description, the police say it is vague but very similar, seen to be carrying what could easily be Madeleine.
I for one put my hand up and say I will never forgive those parents, one day they will have to explain to those two remaining children what happened to their sister. I expect a similar reaction from them, in the imminent future which lies ahead. This is why the British authorities need to step in.

Little Madeleine McCann, a birthday party without you but the world celebrated in the hope that you were returned to your home to spend time
with your younger brothers and the parents that should have been charged with abandonment or neglect and whom I hope have learned a very valuable lesson.
I have a daughter and a son and a similar thing happened to my daughter when she was three years old taken by the babysitter and lucky for me was back in my arms in 24 hours with the help on the police department, I did not abandon my child I left her in the care of a babysitter not get a babysitter. Children are not an inconvenience and deserve everything you can give them; the most important of all is love. When Madeleine comes home I hope you show her that you care for her because the whole world will be watching, take care of your children, all of them!

Had the missing child’s mother been single and drinking in a bar with her boyfriend she would have been vilified from the get go.

There are a great couple of e-mails doing the rounds to try and get the message to look for Maddie across Europe - coverage isn’t as great out there. The e-mails seem to have been started by relatives and friends of the McCanns. Anyway one suggestion was to get teh messages into the Banking network given all the branches across Europe.
CAn someone get this suggestion to the family?

I find it hard to believe, in the world we live in today, the Creator would not send very “gifted people” to the earth to help out and try. If it were your child I surmise you would do all you can.
