SCHOOLS get powers to spy on pupils.
Dizzy writes:
This is just wrong
“Maintained schools have the power to collect pupils’ personal data, including biometric data without prior written consent of parents. Under paragraph 3(1) of Schedule 1 of the Education Act 2002 the governing body of a maintained school has the legal power to do anything which appears to them to be necessary or expedient for the purposes of, or in connection with, the conduct of the school.” - Education Minister, Jim Knight
Jesus wept. Couple this with the Government’s proposals for greater and easier information sharing across Whitehall and Local Government and it all just makes me shudder.

Couple that with the willingness and impunity of former head teachers to reveal all regarding their opinion and hindsight on any Tom, Dick or Harriet’s personality and schoolkid misdemeanours to the tabloid press as soon as said ex-pupil gets him or herself in the papers for some adult wrongdoing and schools can be seen as even more potentially dangerous places to send your children. The last example was Danielle Lloyd during the CBB fiasco and there have been others. The girl’s an idiot but her former head teacher, who was probably paid for the story, had no business opining to the newspapers on her childhood history.
