Mari Olli: I Saw Madeleine McCann In Marrakesh
NORWEGIAN woman say she saw Madeleine McCann in Marrakesh. This is her email to British police:
Mari Olli, a Norwegian and a retired social worker, 45 years old, lives in Spain, Málaga, with her husband. The couple has been on hollidays in Agadir, Morocco, when Madeleine was abducted.
They knew nothing about it, as they didn’t watched news, while on holidays.
They were returning to Spain and they stopped at Marrakesh, for the night of May 8 to 9.
Early in the morning, they drove their car to Tarifa, to catch a ferryboat back home. They stopped at a gas station to buy some water and that was the place where Mrs Mari Olli says she saw Madeleine. This is the report that she sent, by email, to British Police, after she tried, without success, to give the information to Spanish Police (and not to Portuguese Police, as some British newspapers wrongly wrote):
“At the petrol station next to Hotel Ibis Palmeraie in Marrakesh (Address, Avenue Abdelkrim Khattabi) Wednesday 9th of May, about 10 am, I saw the girl inside the shop. She was wearing clear blue pyjamas. Some pattern on the top, trousers little darker. Don’t think the trousers had any pattern. She was very small. Under 1 meter. She was with a man.”
“She was standing alone, the man about a meter from her. I looked back at her, she was very sweet. And it was a strange situation because the man didn’t look like her father. And it’s very strange to see a blond small girl standing alone in Marrakesh. She was very small and normally you would hold her in your arms or at least her hand. And he was turning away from her.”
“She looked sad. I looked at her face, she looked at me. Then she turned to the man and said something that sounds like: “Can we see mommy soon?” I am not sure if he reply. I turned around to pay my things, two bottle of water and some hygiene serviettes. I went in our car, looked for if they had a car, but could not see any special. I wanted to tell my husband, but he was busy with the driving to catch the ferry from Tanger to Tarifa. I didn’t know about the missing child at that time. Because I had not watched the news, when I was on holiday.”
“I saw the news on Thursday the 10 of may, in the evening. Then I remember what I saw in Marrakesh. I started to phone the police, Spanish and English. The Spanish police didn’t want to talk to me. I talked to the English (Police). Friday morning I gave my report to Katy Peters from Scotland Yard. She said someone was going to phone me. But I have not heard anything. I have emailed them and phone them several times. But no response. I am very worried and very sure this was that girl. Her face is very special. And that situation was very strange!”
“My mind is on this situation all the time, and I need to know if someone is looking into my report. I am sure the two Moroccan men inside the petrol station can confirm my seeing as well.”
“If I can do anything more to help, PLEASE let me know!
Regards
Mari Olli”
According to Correio da Manhã, the daily Portuguese newspaper that first got in touch with Mrs. Mari Olli, as soon as the information reached the Portuguese Police, through British liaison officers, Portuguese Police contacted Mrs. Mari Olli, for six times, on May 18 and May 21, to get more details from her.

Iam only 15 years old and I agree with Danielle.
Maddie does need to be found.
That little girl in Marrakesh better be Madeleine because if it’s not her,
the stinking, barf encrusted, jumbo jerk, pathetic attempts at Portuguese Police are going to have hell from me to deal with.
Maddy’s parents have already been through enough devastatments because of Madeleine’s kidnapping.
They don’t need anymore agony and pain.
So please let that little girl be Maddie.
I’m begging you.
Please return little Madeleine to her family safely,
wherever she is.
I don’t think her family can take much more of this!

English police and private detectives should be put on the madeleine case. we should all help to fund it,any ideas are welcome and much needed. It makes my stomach churn to think this little child is missing and is not at home with her loving and loyal family. I tell everyone i no who is going on holiday to look out for madeleine,i have a young family too,so its just an unthinkable but real situation, that Gerry and Kate found them selfs in thourgh no fault of there own no one has the right to walk in and take a child.Like a lot of people i feel helpless as to what to do to help.I am new to the internet and its good i can express my thoughts and views on the matter and will continue to do so. Keep on supporting Gerry and Kate.So heres to all logically thinking parents, people young and old to keep madeleine in the picture,we all hope to see madeleine re-united with her family soon.

I am a young girl lives in uk, I have followed the Madeleine case like many people. I am determined like everyone to find where she and all the other missing children and vulnerable adults are. Its a sad sick work we live in, I tryed to comment about over a motnth ago on a site. I was at stanstead airport London a good couple of months back and there was a tall guy, he was very thin, had a moustache and has hair that sort of hung round his ears but wasent long, he looked in his late 40s perhaps and worea brown jacket and cream trousers. I was in arrivals going through security, I said to my bf dosent he look scary, he was looking al aroudn him(expected at airport but more thena most) I cud hardly desrcibe his behaviour, jumpy perhaps. He walked fast out tehe door he didnt go through secruity, a tiny blonde girl followed him she had short blonde hair, My freind said no she wouldnet be here sure it was portugal but watching a documetnry a picture of the excact same man I saw came up and I have no doubts, I have tryed to email but they failed and other people made me feel silyl when I mentioned it was in england at stanstead. I hope she is found I relaly do.

I agree Niamh. I am totally sick of the comments being posted elsewhere. With 3 young children myself, this whole thing is eating me up inside and I have nothing but sympathy, praise and admiration for the McCann family at this truly terrible time. My thoughts are with them all, especially wee Madeleine. I desperately hope she is found soon.
I also have concerns about the publication of some of the developments in this case. I agree that descriptions of possible abductors or possible sightings should be published, but details regarding the phonecalls etc could be damaging to the investigation overall. It’s quite possible that the anonymous phone call the other day was from one of a group of people who have taken Madeleine. He may be wishing he hadn’t been invovled and want to pass on important information. Imagine what could happen if, with specific information relating to where the phone was registered, the other group members put two and two together and realised he made the call? What would they do to him? It could ruin all hopes of making further contact with him. Yes, we are all desperate to hear of developments, but we are also desperate to have Madeleine returned to her family safely, and if this means we have to wait until after she is found to learn the facts about information which came to light during the search, so be it.
Please let this all be over in the near future. Hope you have your wee girl back in your arms really soon Kate & Gerry.

It’s nice to find a discussion on the web about Madeleine with only nice, kind, sensitive and intelligent comments, there are so many assholes out there saying terrible things. I have two daughters and last year in Majorca somebody, a couple, tried to lure one of them away with the promise of sweets - at the outdoor evening entertainment in the complex. I tried everything I could to get this reported to the police. I tried the apartment management, the holiday reps, the local police, the police in Madrid and the Irish Embassy. Got very little help and had to give up. At one point a female officer on the phone in Madrid ate the head off me for not reporting it sooner and hung up the phone on me. So I believe that Norwegian woman. I am sure there are things going on behind the scenes though, there has to be or else things are very very bad in the world of policing in Europe.

Beth, your verry verry right and the police should get a move on with all the money people are funding them they should have found her by now! nobodey give up hope!!!!!! x we will find you maddie xxx
June 5th, 2007 at 5:34 pm
I’m only 13 but I find madeleine’s abduction terrible. I also constantly pray that she will be reunited with her family, I don’t understand why God lets these things happen but I’m sure he has a reason. It’s horrific and I’m furious that the police didn’t act quicker, they seem to have made so little progress it’s infuriating. I also agree with danielle, Mari Olli, don’t let the police stop you, keep trying so they will eventually have to listen. Hang in there Maddie, the rest of the world is on your side. xxx

i cant understand why this tracing of calls in morocco has not hit the main news. I also cant understand though why it has been published in a paper/site so that like said before the abducter can see whats happening so can stay one step ahead.Im sure he/she/they keep up with the news and even visit the find madeleine site to keep up. Perhaps the police/ intelligence etc are more ahead than we think and know more than they are telling. Lets hope so and lets all hope and pray for a happy ending for Gerry and kate but more so for little Madeleine who has wronged no one.

Susanne i agree - hopefully (if true) this is old information that the police have been using for a while.
Even though its a “pay as you go” experts, i beleive, should be able to trace its movements closely as they are doing in praia da luz.
June 3rd, 2007 at 3:27 pm
Julian….. lets all hope and pray there is!!! As little Madeleine needs to be re-united with her family NOW - so they all can start to rebuild their lives.

June 3rd, 2007 at 3:08 pm
YES PAUL…… and how sad is that!!!!!!! If you and I can read about it on the internet SO can the abducters!!!!!!! SO surely the smart thing would have been NOT I repeat NOT to have let that “little detail” slip out…. as guess what… now the horrid abducters know that someone is on to them!!! What a sad state of affairs it that!!!! Just when there seemingly was a breakthrough…it has to be shattered like this!!!!!!! Poor little Madeleine keep paying the price of adult mistakes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bless her XXX
June 3rd, 2007 at 2:41 pm
Well the Sunday People has an “exclusive” story that suggest GCHQ picked up mobile phone conversations (in arabic) of the abducters and tracked them to Morroco.

I got NO idea why the English papers are not picking up on this??? I got no idea why Team Mccann don’t have an “ARMY” of privat investigators etc etc over there….. they should have had that over 2 weeks ago when the sighting was reported…….but?????? Sorry to be so harsh - but quite clearly all their praying etc is NOT doing any good what so ever!!!!!! Every minute counts in this case….surely!!!!!???? In the meantime - poor little Madeleine is paying the price!!!!!!!!!! Bless her!!! XX

The story from the Norwegian social worker sounds true. She noticed something strange, and given her training in her profession, it registered with her. I suggest that the petrol attendants be interviewed, and the search be moved to that area. Maybe more people saw something on that day in that area. Do police stations, petrol stations, supermarkets in Morocco have the posters on their walls, windows, doors?
Keep up the publicity to help this sweet little girl to be rescued and returned to her loving family.
Every day I wait for news that she has been returned safely and is well.
Our positive thoughts and love go to her and the whole family.

There is no excuse for the police not have looked in Morocco after they recieved this tip. The world has known for years that Morocco is a portal for human trafficking. Read for yourselves.

Why are the English papers not picking this story up?
June 2nd, 2007 at 5:55 pm
doesn’t this just say something about the police today?
Absalutly Awful! they are too busy looking after each others backs then giving peoples warning to be arsed with anyone else in the community at all. It would be different if a police officer had seen the girl who looked like madeleine, everyone in the police force would come together and sort something out.
They are a disgrace! they go on about (everywhere except the usa)
go on about how great they are and how they are cutting crime down and helping the community and people around them, are they hell…i had a break in a few weeks ago, they stole god knows how much, I was out at my grandmas 70th birthday and when i got back they had been through nearly all my possisions. What did the police do? Give me a a number.
Luckily i was mainly my ipod which cost me a hell of a lot of money with it being 80gb
and my tft tv
but really this shouldnt be happening, if someone reports a sighting it should be dealt with asap not under anycircumstances should it be left. I mean come on, who would lie about a sighting of a young child gone missing?
Atrocious absalutly pathetic our police nowadays, i mean what are ASBO’s ? why not the electic chair ? they’re so silly
i suggest you go straight to all the papers and report how the police never dont anything, show them up. Make it out big on the news. Then they will have to get their acts together because they are ..(if you dont mind me saying) Crap!

The lose of Madeleine is another sign of the hostile society we exist in today. We all pray, every day, that she is found save and returned to her parents, unscathed, very soon.
Young girls are increasingly the target of molesters / kidnappers who seek profit in the underground slave trade markets. With babies selling for thousands of US dollars, and young women being forced into slavery: with thousands of dollars of indentured service owed to their captors, is it any wonder that a child or teen, left unguarded or unsupervised, will become a victim of these despicable crimes.
We can’t possibly build a larger police force to protect us all: everyplace we travel and in the neighborhoods we inhibit. It’s economically, and practically, impossible. Police and prosecuters, everywhere, are stymied by the passive court judges who allow the convicted perps and pedophiles to enjoy multiple convictions without appropriate jail-time, secure probation periods, tracking technologies, plea-bargained sentences, and early releases only to return to the criminal activities that got them into trouble in the first place.
We’ve got to tell every jurist that “We’re Not Going To Stand For This Anymore” and “The Full Extent of The Law” has to be applied to all criminals, especially in the child-related acts of violence cases. These “sick” people have to put away for the rest of their life’s.
Election 2008 is 18 mos. off. It’s time to press our ”Front-Runner’s” for answers to this and many other issues.
June 2nd, 2007 at 4:27 pm
Janis……. believe you me - I have suggested that for 2 weeks now…. buuuuttt guess what… no one wants to listen????? The clock is ticking and God knows what poor little Maddeleine is going through - tommorow a month has gone by!!!! Be strong little one….. hopefully someone will come to your resue very soon XX
June 2nd, 2007 at 4:16 pm
With all the money in the Maddy fund, can’t they get private investigators on the case and in Morocco asap? A clandestine operation so not to tick off the police supposedly on the case.
June 2nd, 2007 at 4:13 pm
Is there video footage at the gas station in Morocco? Im sure someone is on that!
June 2nd, 2007 at 1:46 pm
The last I heard in the press - the CCTV in the petrol station had already been wiped & Portuguese police hod not been to Marrakesh.
To be fair, I think the Portuguese police did go to interview another couple in Morrocco earlier, & that turned out to be false.
