Nigger is from the Latin word niger which means black. The etymology of Nigeria is obviously similar. It is now rather quaint to use. The use of the word nigga however is more today’s vogue. Part of the ebonics language, it is interesting to note the reverse racism in its use. Its getting out of hand here. What language! Emily Parr should not have used the nigger word as that in itself is offensive. Doubt if anyone noticed on the first day of BB show when everybody was introduced into the BB house, the look that Emily Parr gave Nicky Maxwell (an Indian) - one of disgust and disdain! At that point in time, emily parr’s racist attitude was not apparent but this look which she gave Nicky really shocked me. I felt real bad. This was an involuntary expression of Emily which goes to show that she is naturally averse to people who are non-white or to ethnic minorities.
