Once again, a shoot-em-up is being used as a scapegoat to the country's social problem. One indistinguishable stupid church as a backdrop and - BAM! - players are murderers. I mean, what??

This controversy is stupid. Surely there are better things to do. I've played the game (and no, I haven't killed anyone) and I hardly registered the church.

The supposedly 'good-willed' and 'forgiving' COE should take their own advice or stand as a hypocrite.

Now when you think about it It looks nothign liek the church (you'll know if you play the game a lot or have even had like a 5 min go.
Half the tower is missing, There are gaping holes in the roof, Theres Giant pieces of the church walls missing at the NE SE SW NW sides of the church,Weapon spawns and Air Vents.
If this is a photorealistic version of the church I'm mother Teresa.

The Church IS NOT improving their image but have succeeded in completely destroying it. But I\'m sure Sony will have to change it anyway, which will destroy the Churches image even more.

And further more; The Church is portrayed as being a field hospitol that was taken over by the Chimera, Hale and the British are simply taking it back. I guess the Church of England is against Hospitals and saving humanity. How knew?

All of you are speaking correctly...I don't see a single problem here at all.

There is loads of games that involve churches and fighting...The bishop should just blame history because there was 'wars' where 'people' were 'fighting' 'inside' the churches and destroyed most of them or left them in a mess...

Resistance Fall Of Man is set in an alternate history and if you look closely...It's a bloomin make shift war based hospital to treat the wounded soldiers...and in the game. The people fighting were trying to 'save' the place...doesn't he see that this game is god friendly otherwise the game would have let the place be destroyed.

Da Stealth Preacha - why was there no complaints regarding the church in "Saving Private Ryan", it was used as a hold up for the soldiers when the fought the passing Germans!

Not to mention plenty of other violent games like the Call of Duty series also featured churches!!!!

In Resistance the church is half destroyed and practically unrecognisable!! Imagine a real war/aliens situation, a church would be an ideal place to fight from, full of hope, like having god on your side, not to mention the fact that its a solid defense against intruders!

I hardly think Sony went out to offend the CofE, churches are tremedous examples of architechure and many graphic artists would have seen the beauty of creating this in a game!

This is just the CofE clambering for the front pages again, though this time its not them receiving the flack!

Wonder if Jack Thompson would be interested in this case??

The secret of it is "Fansasy" game hello bishop its not real, unless there are alien invaders in the cathedral in which case send in the sas and arm yourself!!
if the bishop was switched on he would try and get some royalitys from Sony for putting his cathedal on a game. He could repair his roof then.

There are worse things going on in the world so maybe we should think of them instead?

Although you may not believe in God and yes the CofE like many churches are not perfect (historically nor at present). It is no reason why a place of worship shpould be potrayed in such a way.

It is well known that if thishad been a muslim place of wohip/holy site Sony would have been in real trouble, and they should thank God this is not the middle ages or they would have been burnt at the stake by the inquisition.

The bishop doesn't seem to have a consistent argument. Is it a problem that it is his church or is it any church? would a school be ok? or is violence in computer games (and film?) just plain wrong? He was quoting some dubious US scientific study that claims that games cause violence. Some nerve given that he happily ignores almost all other scientific theory. The game is not set in Manchester cathedral as he claims. A distorted reconstruction of the cathedral features in the game along with many other locations.

I hope Sony counter-sue and put this hypocritical nutjob in his place. Or perhaps Sony should bring out a game that better depicts today's activity in God's houses. how about "Buggery: Fall of the Choir Boy"?

I'm all for proper investigation and debate on the issue of violence and computer games but the ill-thought-out ramblings of the bishop just add hot air to the hysteria already felt by countless parents and should not be given the media attention that they've received.
