Finding Madeleine McCann’s Body - “Vermoedelijke Vindplaats”
IS Madeleine McCann dead? A letter to a Dutch newspaper. And a map showing where her body can be found. It’s credible:
Police in Portugal are investigating an anonymous letter and a map claiming to show where missing four-year-old Madeleine McCann’s body is buried.
The letter, sent to Dutch paper De Telegraaf, identifies an area 15km (9.3 miles) from where Madeleine vanished.
It strongly resembles another letter sent to the same newspaper last year, accurately pinpointing where two missing Belgian girls were buried.
Ch Insp Olegario de Sousa said officers were “checking the information”.
Next to a cross and two question marks, the sender writes “vermoedelijke vindplaats Madeleine” - this is the place where Madeleine can probably be found.
A murder investigation. And still only one suspect.
One day on and “BURIED UNDER ROCKS,” says the Mirror’s front –page headline.
The paper notes how the handwriting on the letter is the same as that on the paper giving the whereabouts of Stacey Lemmens and her sister Nathalie Mahy who went missing in Belgium last year.
As the Sun reports, the note says Madeleine is buried “north of the road under branches and rocks, around six to seven metres off the road” in an spot near Odiaxere, close to the Algarve resort from where the girl went missing 42 days ago.
The Mail says the author of this letter and, most likely, the one concerning the Belgian sisters, is unknown to police.
A certain Abdullah Ait-Oud, a convicted paedophile, has been charged with their murders. He denies any involvement. Although police believe he acted with an accomplice who has not been traced.
“MADELEINE IS BURIED HERE,” says the Express on its front page. Portuguese police are searching the area…
Mr McCann says:
“We were extremely disappointed in the publication of the anonymous letter in The Telegraaf claiming to know where Madeleine is buried.”Although all information will be taken seriously, we were very upset that the credibility of this letter had not been examined and, more importantly, published before the Portuguese police had an opportunity to investigate the claim, and search the area if appropriate without massive media attention.
“We feel strongly that this was an irresponsible piece of journalism and, even if it were true, is insensitive and cruel.
“One can imagine how upsetting it is for Kate and I to hear of such claims through the media and if every piece of information was published like this there would be nothing else in the newspapers.”
Read the update here - no body found…

That last post was from frances Wicks/Anork - wot? She can’t even get her own bloody name right now! Told you she was a complete idiot. This is exactly the sort of thing that makes my blood boil!!
I’d have a lot more to say about that frances, but this room is getting full of steam for some reason …
I’m off out now to buy a calculator, and if I can get a good one to help me with the spam questions - well you had better just watch out frances Wicks/Anork!!
Sickos all of you!!
…. big ones, small ones, some as big as frances’s head …. ummmm, ummm
June 17th, 2007 at 10:30 pm
I did understand your comment about why they might have dyed her hair etc. I was just questioning the logic, since they wanted/abducted a blonde girl and if the motive was sexual then she is is no longer what they wanted. For a couple wanting to hide a child, it makes perfect sense.
Have you seen the new Anorak posting about police losing evidence due to the MacCann family?
June 17th, 2007 at 9:42 pm
Saddly there are people that sick, but it doesn’t bare thinking about. I only said about dressing her as a boy for disguise purposes because people would be looking for a little long haired blonde girl, not a little short haired (whatever coloured they dyed it) boy.

Frances: I read through your other forum the other night. Looked like all broke loose. This one has been fairly sane so far. Luke was a mere blip to a tranquil dedbate.
Hopeful: What I was really trying to say was that surely M. is too young for the sexual deviants? Is this just wishful thinking or are there people that sick out there? Turning her into a boy would not be likely if the motive was sexual. The nearest unfortunate case I can think of is Jamie Bulger where two psycho kids abducted him for kicks.
Angry: without getting to the why’s and wherefore’s it seems like such a waste of life. Sorry to hear of the loss.
June 17th, 2007 at 4:50 pm
Yeah Iraq never had any interest in WMDs just like Iran don’t either.
June 17th, 2007 at 4:11 pm
Angry sorry to hear of the loss of your daughter’s friend. Given the fact that Iraq were not a threat to anyone, Bush and Blair invaded a non aggressive country, and they and the respective pro-war members of both Governments should be tried as war criminals.
There were no atrocities after we bloodied Sadams nose back in 1992 therefore there was no reason at all to go in other than Bush’s need for Iraq’s oil and contracts awarded to American companies to rebuild Iraq. It was legalised theft on a grand scale.

Jonathon - The stats for missing children comprise of three main groups. The highest percentage are runaways, most of which return home within 2 - 4 weeks. The second are children abducted by one of the parents, usually as a result of intercontinental marriage breakdowns where one parent returns to his/her homeland, (usually the father). The third which are rare are indeed abductions by strangers, sadly most of which end up as murder victims. However, most of these are found within a very short time therefore the longer it takes to find a child the better the chances of that child still being live.
June 17th, 2007 at 3:58 pm
Frances you appear to have an obsession with ruining every forum. Why?
If you are anorak can you tell me why there are no forums for Iraq. The young lad killed in the road accident yesterday, actually drowned in his overturned Warrior armoured vehicle. James was a very good friend of my daughter and has slept at my place. He was such a lovely young lad and his death was needless as far as I am concerned.
PS I am the real angry.
June 17th, 2007 at 3:43 pm
Great to have you back Frances! Where you been? Thought you’d flipped and eloped with Mr Angry! He wishes!! LOL!
There’s lots of folks on here that need your attention - on here and on all the other Anorak Madeleine threads too!
Had your postcard from Arfur Daley yet? Bet he’s getting soaked up there in Morecambe - serves ‘im right for being a smartarse.
June 17th, 2007 at 2:29 pm
has there been any more news on maddy today?
June 17th, 2007 at 1:10 pm
Hopeful: I did take a minute to look at the missing persons website. There have been three 3-5yr old abductions in thel ast 3 years. One is Madeleine, the other two are both with their father. That reflects two things really. Firstly, children of this age being non family abducted is very rare and secondly it does tend to hit the news in a pretty big way and we would be aware. Madeleine is just the latest unfortunate victim, but at her age one would think she has been abducted because someone wanted a child. That assumption at least fits well with the idea that she is still alive.

morning everyone.i apologize for the use of my extremely bad language yesterday,i was abused at the age of 11 and this kind of thing really gets to me.so sorry guys.
June 16th, 2007 at 9:42 pm
Luke - that was a short trip down the pub. Perhaps we should call you “Johnny No Mates”. Your attitude doesn’t lend to much else.
Given your low opnion of everyone and the UK it looks like you should emigrate. I’m sure you would be sorely missed, if you had any friends that is.
June 16th, 2007 at 9:24 pm
Who would want a name like Victor, its so ……….. Victorian.
June 16th, 2007 at 9:17 pm
No Anorak, not spoiling for a fight, and not a cyber yob (yet another cliche). I am not disappointed that nobody wants to fight with me. The thing that I am disappointed about is the superficial level of debate on here, the smug, self-satisfied attitude of many of the posters, and the failure by most people to understand the manipulation by the media that is really going on.
Oh, yes - and you Anorak - you disappoint me too. Is this what failed journalists do then, set up forums so that they can get pleasure from watching people tearing into each other? I was told that the Anorak threads were full of lively debate. WTF? All I find is cliche-ridden posts, with people repeating like parrots “opinions” which they have heard elsewhere, or which they have read in the tabloids. Hardly the cutting edge of debate is it? There are a few original thinkers on here, but all too few. A reflection of the society that is Britain today unfortunately.
Bye Anorak.
June 16th, 2007 at 7:32 pm
luke: It must be so disappointing for you “hanging around outside” spoilng for a fight and nobody showing any interest. How pathetic. Does that offically make you a cyber yob?
June 16th, 2007 at 7:20 pm
Sorry Victor - tired of waiting for you, going down the pub now.
Everybody - don’t forget to post by the rules on here. Victor says you must, and please don’t swear, he gets upset. We mustn’t get him upset - after all it’s HIS forum!
Try not to miss me Vic
June 16th, 2007 at 7:15 pm
I feel a long abusive post coming ….. where are you Victor?
June 16th, 2007 at 6:59 pm
Stating your opinions in a “I know I’m right so don’t bother trying to argue with me” kind of way is not “knowledge” - it is pomposity.
You say “Bad language is not actually permitted on here”. Wot, you after Anorak’s job now then are you Victor? Should have realised you would know all the rules!
I’ll never be able to catch you up coz you’re disappearing up your own arse now!
LOL!
June 16th, 2007 at 6:38 pm
cool hand luke - go eat an egg, opps sorry not supposed to know Paul Newman did that in the film of the same name, sorry. Education wasn’t a sin last time I looked. Sorry if my knowledge upsets you. Try going to college, you never know you might catch me up sometime.
Bad language is not actually permitted on here. Try reading the rules.
June 16th, 2007 at 6:29 pm
Ed & Sam: Just in case you can’t stay away. It happens that my family is already on holdiay and I will join later them in the week. I don’t need lectures on how to spend my time. In my defence, this is the first news article I have posted comments on and I have actually enjoyed the debate. The reason I don’t get on a plane is because it would serve no purpose. And yes I have been out all day getting a life. Any more questions?
June 16th, 2007 at 6:28 pm
Hopeful - been re-reading all your posts on here, you are such a know-all aren’t you. Don’t you ever get tired of being right all the time? You’re the type who signs himself “Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells” when writing letters to the papers. Sort of a cross between Victor Meldrew and Harry Enfield’s “Mr Don’t Wanna Do It Like That”.
You know so much, I’m surprised that you aren’t over there helping the police in Portugal. “You don’t wanna do it like that …..” LOL! I’m sure with you on the case they’d crack it in no time at all.
Also, why criticise someone’s use of language on here. This is the internet - people are free to express themselves how they want to, without advice from you. Control freak. Sometimes only good old anglo saxon words are appropriate to describe someone like you. Fucking dickhead.
June 16th, 2007 at 5:52 pm
Rachel, naming and shaming is not an option. When the New of the World did it innocent people became victims of mobs in Portsmouth. Anyone who resembles a paedophile could and would become a target.
I accept that something needs to be done so that known child sex offenders cannot get accommodation near areas where children live or go to school, but where in this country does such a place exist?
Even if local authorities held a data base of the whereabouts of child sex offenders they would be hounded out of one area and then become someone elses problem.
As for your second post it will never happen. By the way, is you mum proud of your language, because it isn’t very impressive.
June 16th, 2007 at 5:11 pm
also who would join me in locking all perverts in a room and letteing mums and dads punishing the dirty bastards, cos i know i would do it.and so would a lot of other parents in this situation.
June 16th, 2007 at 5:04 pm
in reply to jed,i totally agree with u.at the end of the day them kids should not have been left alone.the parents are totally to blame here im afraid aswell as the sick and twisted pervert who may have l;ittle maddy.me and my mum agree that all known peodophiles shoud be named and shamed it dose’nt matter what country they are in people need to be aware of where they are.
June 16th, 2007 at 3:36 pm
yer ain got a fucking clue hopeful. the kids dead. parens shudna left her. twats
June 16th, 2007 at 2:31 pm
Sorry had this rubbish before. People read what they want to read and not what is written. I did not say I wanted to get involved because I don’t. There is nothing I can do. As for being manipulated by the press, I haven’t read any papers. I watch the TV news because it reports the truth. As I am not a royalist no I wasn’t grief stricken when Diana died, I was however saddened by her untimely death and sympathetic to William and Harrys loss, just like millions of other decent people.
You say “Madeleine’s gone - due to parental neglect - and that’s it, end of story”, what sort of attitude is that. She is still out there somewhere hopefully alive and well.
Just because I chose to discuss a couple of points with someone else does not an obsession make.
There are only two words for people like you and they are COWARD and BULLY. You get your kicks trying to throw your weight around but in reality, your wannabe victims are usernames on a computer monitor. How sad is that. You don’t even have real people to bully.
June 16th, 2007 at 1:47 pm
Hopeful - if you want to “get actively involved” as you put it, why don’t you offer to help find some of the other 300 children that have gone missing IN THE UK since Madeleine disappeared? Oh, sorry forgot, the media haven’t given them any coverage, so there’s no reason for you or Jonathan to have thought about how you might be able to help find them.
You two are prime examples of just how easy it is for the press to manipulate gullible people, and keep them coming back for more.
You say you feel helpless. Well then, go and do something useful that doesn’t make you feel so helpless - something, anything, like mowing the lawn or washing the car. It is crazy to feel “helpless” about something that has nothing to do with you. Bet you were absolutely grief-stricken when Diana died? You, and others like you, who did not know her, yet felt it was your duty to “get actively involved.”
Madeleine’s gone - due to parental neglect - and that’s it, end of story. Maybe she will be found alive and well, maybe not - just wait and see, there’s nothing you can do.
You are an obsessive about this case. IT’S NOT YOUR FAMILY!!
I’m off to join Ed in the other forums.
June 16th, 2007 at 1:26 pm
Ed and sam this is a public forum for anyone to post their views in. Why take that tone simply because two posters have a debate on various issues. If you don’t agree with any point raised simply join the debate and put your point across.
Many people would like to get actively involved but it is just not practical because there is little that can be done other than the police following up leads, and they wouldn’t let the public get involved in that.
It is wrong to slate people because they feel helpless in what is a helpless situation.
June 16th, 2007 at 1:16 pm
Well said Ed! I was just about to post something similar, you beat me to it.
Jonathan, have you booked that plane ticket yet mate?
As the man said - get a life!!!!
