Portuguese authorities have dismissed as groundless all leads on sightings of Madeleine McCann in other countries rather than Portugal, namely in Morroco and Malta, said Polícia Judiciária (PJ), Portuguese CID, spokesman Olegário de Sousa (…) Further investigations are being carried out centered mainly on the area of Praia da Luz itself, said Mr. Olegário de Sousa. «The clue to this mistery is in Praia da Luz», according to other police source quoted by Diário de Notícias. MADELEINE: NOW MINISTERS MAY BLOCK NEW POLICE QUIZ
Thursday December 6,2007
By David Pilditch Have your say(264)
MADELEINE McCann’s parents will know within 48 hours if the Government will let them face a new grilling over her disappearance.
The Portuguese prosecutor was last night set to request permission from the Home Office to re-interview Kate and Gerry and their holiday dinner friends – known as the Tapas Nine.
Home Secretary Jacqui Smith, 44, will then decide if further questioning can take place.
Detectives believe the secret of Madeleine’s fate lies with the group and are relying on the new interviews to crack the case.
But they have long been wary about British Government involvement in the investigation and fear further political interference.
They were suspicious when they discovered that Madeleine’s heart surgeon father Gerry, 39, who sits on a Government medical advisory committee, received personal telephone calls from Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
And they were “unsettled’’ to find out that the PM had discussed the case with Portuguese political chiefs.
And they were “unsettled’’ to find out that the PM had discussed the case with Portuguese political chiefs.
A source close to the investigation said last night: “Normally, interview requests like this would be granted in minutes.
But everyone is aware this is a very special case for many reasons. Police in Portugal have been aware of a political shadow hanging over it. They are aware Mr McCann had personal calls from Mr Brown very early in the investigation.
“He has gone on to become Prime Minister and they are now suspects. That is an uncomfortable scenario for detectives involved in the case.”
The source added: “They are not taking anything for granted. That is why they have been sweating over this letter and the questions contained in it. They have to be right – they have to be perfect.”
The prosecutor’s letter details key questions he wants British police to ask the McCanns and friends dining with them in the tapas bar when Madeleine disappeared on May 3.
It also includes instructions on what evidence to introduce at the interrogations and details of the Portuguese laws that the couple are alleged to have breached.
Detectives remain baffled by “inconsistencies’’ in their witness statements. They want to interview them as soon as next week.
Last night it was revealed the McCanns and their friends were advised to use separate lawyers for the interviews. At least four of their friends could also be named suspects.
Hi Kat
This was the petition against the McCann’s,and it now contains even more names..Thankfully Mr Bennett failed with that summons.
Officials at Loughborough magistrates must now check that the summons application is technically sound and then make a decision – or ask Mr Bennett to produce further evidence. A petition demanding social services investigate the McCanns has attracted 20,458 signatures since it was posted on http://www.petitiononline.com in June.

Well Mike do you think Sean and Amelie look unhappy or neglected children ?
No ? I don’t either….looking at them I’d say they’re having their rights and needs met. If you start a petition suggesting the signatories to the first one should hang their heads in shame then I’ll be the first one to sign it lol !
There are so many children around the world that suffer unnecessarily in foster care/homes when they’ve been taken wrongly from their families.
In my eyes the welfare of children is paramount and in my opinion Sean and Amelie seem to be thriving which wouldn’t be the case if there was an ounce of neglect occurring. I’m sure the McCann’s case is at the forefront of the Leicestershire social services mind and if they thought for one minute the children’s welfare was at risk they’d get them out of there.
These people have no compassion at all….and to be honest I think many of them jump on the bandwagon because they can’t think for themselves.
Mike where did you find out about the petition?
December 6th, 2007 at 12:45 pm
Hi Kat
Thanks for that.
You said: ” Try and keep to your word, I was quite shocked to see you’d retaliated to the likes of Lauren and Annie1 – not like you at all ! “….ok..I will try.
There are a sizable group of people out there who have no life of their own and have to live it through others, such as the 17,000 who signed the petition on a subject that is nothing whatsoever to do with them.
“Why have 17,000 already signed an online petition requesting that the social services examine the welfare of the younger McCann children?”
It’s a very good question. I wonder if I could start one suggesting that the signatories to the first should hang their heads in shame? There are no charges, no trial has been scheduled, no arrests, yet 17,000 people have cast aside any notion of innocence before guilt is proven.
I have no more interest in the McCanns than I do in the parents of any other missing child, but I was very interested to hear the “DNA expert” stating it is wrong to leap to conclusions with DNA evidence too. It is an aid to detection, but not definitive and indisputable proof.

Mods and Admin - couldn’t agree more….what’s all this about the Gillian Gibbons case ? Ooh I didn’t even realise there was a thread for it…is it still around ?
#5366 – Isla / Anthony,
That’s a very good point regarding Murat’s girlfriend dying her hair, I too thought she had blonde hair. However I’m not a hairdresser and don’t dye my hair so am not an expert with regards to root growth…good point though and you’d hope the authorities have also noticed that.
I also think it was highly suspicious of Murats mother opening that information desk to ‘help’ with Madeleine’s search. As for SM and RM on the phone if they weren’t involved in Madeleine’s disappearance then they’re certainly guilty of something, whether it be drug trafficking or other illegal activities.
RM and his entire family have many businesses which I find unusual…..it wouldn’t surprise me if they are used for money laundering.
#5369 – Mike,
I find it very strange that Mr Smethurst has said
“We are providing our services entirely free of charge because we know that Gerry and Kate are completely innocent. We want to see justice done.”
To be perfectly honest no-one KNOWS that Kate and Gerry are completely innocent, unless of course there IS more to this than meets the eye and the long report that Isla posted a while back has an element of truth to it…..
Of course to say they are completely innocent is farcicle, we all know they are guilty of neglecting their three children….it’s inconceivable to think leave children of their age alone in an unlocked flat…albeit they were supposedly being checked regularly but for goodness sake they could’ve fallen out of bed, banged their head, choked – anything could’ve happened.
#5370 – Mike, I agree the other forums are full of vile people who are obviously perfect and live in a perfect world. It’s extremely difficult reading such odious and malicious comments so I tend to avoid those forums and I suggest the like minded people on here do the same.
A part of me does agree however that the McCann’s have not helped themselves during the campaign….in my opinion they have turned the majority of the public against them because of the Media attention and gallivanting across Europe and the US. For me I can’t understand the visit Gerry made to the US back in July. It’s the sort of action I’d take once my daughter had been found and not 12 weeks after she disappeared…..however I’m willing to accept that everyone is different and we all act in different ways.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/07/23/nmccann123.xm
I think it was Jean who mentioned the Panorama programme and how Kate’s demeanour did nothing to help their plight….she could well be on medication to help her cope but joe public won’t buy it, the majority of people out there WANT to see grief and WANT to see the McCann’s break down before they can even consider liking them and consequently believe in them.
My thoughts are not dissimilar to Kirstie’s……it’s like sitting on a see-saw one minute I’m up thinking they couldn’t possibly have anything to do with the disappearance and then after reading other people’s opinions I’m down thinking that they might have done something…..
I’m keeping an open-mind and welcome anyone who comes onto this forum and presents new opinions which can help me look at things from a different perspective.
However I don’t welcome people who come on attacking posters for what they believe in….if someone wants to visit BL or MJ’s websites so be it, it probably gives them hope and lets them remain positive. It’s very childish to ridicule them for their beliefs.
If someone wants to copy and paste news articles then THANKYOU because without this information I wouldn’t have a clue what was going on with the case….I don’t have the time or inclination to search websites, read papers or watch television which is why I come on here every day to be updated.
I think from reading the comments on here EVERYONE is in agreement that the McCann’s were wrong in leaving Madeleine, Sean and Amelie alone……some of us can move on from that issue and some of us don’t want to so to save arguments and the childish name-calling can we all agree to disagree….
We all agree that we want dear Madeleine found as soon as possible so let’s move on for Madeleine’s sake.
#5372 – Jean,
I do believe that there is an awful lot of work being done behind the scenes that we’re unaware of….and rightly so.
It would be detrimental to any court case if the authorities were leaking evidence vital to securing a prosecution…..all evidence is kept in case files that are kept confidential and not shown to journalists or officers not involved in the case.
As for Metodo 3 well I gave up on them ages ago….”we’re so close, we know where she is…blah, blah, blah” yeah of course you do that’s why she’s still missing. I think they’re just relishing in the limelight and at the same time taking a ridiculous amount of money to find a missing child…they should be doing it for free or at a fraction of the cost.
#5374 – Mike,
I think people feel anger towards the McCann’s because they have not shown enough remorse for their actions.
You’ve said “So it’s the last time I will reply to those people who only want to stir up trouble and abuse people on this forum……….but I suppose I should never say never.!” Try and keep to your word, I was quite shocked to see you’d retaliated to the likes of Lauren and Annie1 – not like you at all !
The last week I’ve been taking a back seat and watching what I can only describe as playground antics…from the onset it’s evident that Isla and Maggie bear the brunt of personal attacks but now it’s spreading to Mike, Anthony also. My message to Maggie, Isla, Mike and anyone else is to IGNORE any personal attacks. At the same time if someone has an opposing view to your own they’re more than welcome on this forum and we shall debate it like adults.
Final word to Lauren, I came across this forum quite late on so don’t know what went on from the start regarding Brasil but I actually found he and I had similar views. I’m quite surprised to learn that he felt that way. I feel he was a valued and respected poster and I for one enjoyed his posts…please tell him I miss his input and would love to see him back.
Sorry for the long post…hope I haven’t sent any of you to sleep !
December 6th, 2007 at 11:13 am
Hi Lauren
Just for you , and to show you that we do look at both sides of the coin.
One big question. Was this avoidable? Yes. Very.
Either the parents should have stayed at home with the children. As any decent parent would. Or they should have taken advantage of the child orientated Latin culture espoused by Fernando Gilberto and taken the kids with them. If a tapas bar isn’t a suitable place to take young children to then go somewhere else.
If either very normal and responsible action had been carried out then we wouldn’t have read this story in the first place.
The backlash I feel is largely because this simple premise was ignored. They wouldn’t have left them unattended in this country because it is illegal and they would have faced prosecution for doing so. So away from the rule of British law they leave two two year olds and a four year old alone. Even if returning every 15 minutes, a lot can happen in that time. No wonder people are feeling anger towards the McCanns. This whole situation was totally avoidable and the victim is a little girl. Given their positions in life they absolutely should have known better…
In many ways Lauren you are correct, but the outpouring of venom from some, following your words frightens the hell out of me and just shows that so called civilisation has not progressed beyond the time of the Madam Guillotine mobs during the French Revolution. Where does all that venom come from? The two surviving children must have great difficulty in understanding the disappearance of their sister and yet some now wish to tear them away from their parents on the assumption that they are evil child killers based upon doubtful evidence from a doubtful source.
Isn’t it amazing how many perfect people there are out there, happy to criticize others for being
doctors, middle-class, and using IVF. It used to be called gossip-mongering.I don’t know why it’s suddenly become acceptable to rubbish others like this but it’s a nasty, spiteful trend which will only be answered back in kind. All this has little to do with the life of a little girl, no matter how people try to excuse their venomous comments. This is about Madeleine and nothing else. So it’s the last time I will reply to those people who only want to stir up trouble and abuse people on this forum……….but I suppose I should never say never.!!!
——————————–
Mods and Admin
There are many people who do hold the extreme view that the parents may be directly responsible for Madeleine’s disappearence. It could also be seen that the contempt shown is equal to the parents apparent detachment from the situation.
It is very likely that she came to grief while her parents were absent, and a lot of people do hold the view that they are covering something up whilst not necessarily murdering her.
Nevertheless, it doesn’t give anyone the right to abuse people because they do not agree or share with these views.
Also there are just interent trolls who don’t really give a tinkers cuss for anything , but having fun on line.
So, whilst we decide what to do about trolls, and there are many on this site ( our attention has been distracted by the Gillian Gibbons case and the trouble on that thread) can I suggest you do just ignore people who insult ad nausam

Hi Mike
I wonder how many potential abductions have been reported now? The girl from the cafe, two close shaves at the McCanns apartment, the photographs of the children on the beach and the case of someone ready to walk off with a pram. No doubt I have forgotten some and have no knowledge of many (some) others. Makes you wonder how some people can totally discount the abduction theory.
Identity parade lol!
Hi Jean
I know what you mean by the ‘information overload.’ If anyone brings up the subject of Madeleine with me they instantly regret it. You can actually see the horror in their eyes, no longer for Madeleine, but with my ‘GM and KM are devasted with the loss of Madeleine (only name in full) and it could be down to RM, MW or SM. Some people think that JT etc etc. My husband - wonderful, supportive, long suffering guy actually looks as though he has developed instantaneous cataracts and has had a stroke when I start up, as his eyes glaze over and he goes into some kind of catatonic state!
Hi Maggie
What a laugh I had with the ’spelling’ post. It was really good to come on here and get a laugh. I suppose that’s why I like Anthony’s posts so much as they are a combination of perception, humour and compassion.
Re. no news. I’ve noticed that since Rebelo took over the ‘leaks’ have virtually stopped. The
P Press was feeding the British Press to some extent so maybe that accounts for the lack of spin.
And by the way girl I’ve just remembered that you compared me to a bar of b***** soap! What kind of soap? Luxury or washing? Why could you not have said you don’t me from Beyonce, the Queen or even Hilda Ogden? But no, a bar of soap! Well that’s it, don’t get yourself into a lather but you better look out as I’m washing my hands of you. No on second thoughts, I wont let it go you are in ’soapy bubble, Maggie sud!’
December 6th, 2007 at 12:47 am
Mike - 5370
I really do agree with what you have said here. I just have a few blips every now and again when I read certain articles and especially when I watched the Panorama programme where Kate seemed to be so ‘blase’ about the fact that her daughter had just been kidnapped, it just seemed to hit a cord of disbelief. But as has been said, most probably the poor girl was in terrible shock and was being driven by auto pilot.
I hope that we are just seeing the tip of the iceberg, and hopefully below is an awful lot of work being done, and a lot of results being analysed. The newspapers just want to create sensational stories, but quite a few of them in the last few weeks have been such a let down when nothing has materialised. We all thought that Metodo3 was so near to finding Madeleine when they talked about ’sightings of Madeleine’, and ‘we know where she is and we are going in to get her’ and all those headlines, which have all turned out to be garbage.
December 6th, 2007 at 12:36 am
Hey folks
Now we’ve all got everything off our chests, and have cleared the air - let’s get on with the search - there is still a little girl out there that wants to be found.
I’ve printed new posters and have put them in my car, along with the one that has been there since Madeleine was abducted. I have also got my label still attached to my handbag, which always gets a lot of comments. Everyone who comments say they still think about her and pray for the day that she will be found. Sometimes I think that people regret speaking to me about Madeleine because I tend to go off on a tangent about who I think is responsible, and why. They go away quite dizzy with all the information overload!!!!
Maggie - The Express has had something in every single day, even if it hasn’t been on the front page there has always been at least half a page of news about Madeleine. But I must admit most of the information is old hat, and we have heard it all before, but at least they are keeping her profile up there, letting people know that she is still missing.
I really can’t believe the Portuguese police when they say the McCanns are going to be asked to do an identity parade. Hopefully they mean that they are to be asked to look at some people, and not as it seems to insinuate they are the ones that are going to be featured in the parade. If so that will be another ludicrous act that can be noted with everything else they have done so far. Who on earth wouldn’t recognise them??? Most probably the pigmies from South America.
December 5th, 2007 at 10:02 pm
The idea that the McCanns killed thier daughter, were able to put on a false show of unbelievably consuming grief, hide their daughter’s body during one of the biggest police searches in Portuguese history and dispose of it under the watch of the world’s media, whom they had encouraged to help with the case, is absolutley ridiculous. Yes stastics show that a high number of child murders are committed by people who knew them but the statistics tell us nothing under these extraordinary circumstances. Both the world’s press and public are far too quick to cast suspicion and seem to engage their suspicious minds a lot more readily than they draw on their human empathy and common sense. Such people are making this terrible ordeal even worse for the McCanns.
Thanks to all of you - I have read comments on other forums that are just so foul they turn my stomach, there are so many people out there who seem to enjoy the McCann’s sufferings. This forum has restored my faith, thank you for your intelligent comments and voices of reason.

Bury solicitor leading probe into case of missing Madeleine
By Bury Times Reporter
A BURY solicitor leading a private investigation into Madeleine McCann’s disappearance believes she is still alive.
Edward Smethurst is the in-house lawyer for double-glazing tycoon Brian Kennedy, who has pledged to bankroll Madeleine’s parents Gerry and Kate McCann’s legal and media costs.
Mr Smethurst, who has been tasked as the McCanns’ legal co-ordinator, works for Ultraframe which was sold last year in a £58million deal with a company called Latium Holdings, led by the Sale Sharks rugby team owner and double glazing millionaire.
The solicitor, who lives in Ashworth Valley, is managing and directing the legal teams in the UK and Portugal. Mr Smethurst is also running a team of private investigators who are tracking Madeleine’s disappearance throughout Spain and Portugal.
Mr Smethurst said: “Obviously it’s a strangely challenging case with a huge amount of media interest.
“It’s a highly pressurised case and there is an enormous amount of scrutiny. We are providing our services entirely free of charge because we know that Gerry and Kate are completely innocent. We want to see justice done.
“The best solution is the safe return of Madeleine McCann. There can’t be any legal prosecutions if Madeleine was taken and is returned, and that would prove the innocence of Gerry and Kate.”
Madeleine’s disappearance has generated international media attention, with controversy surrounding the Portuguese-led police investigation after her parents were named as suspects.
Mr Kennedy, the Cheshire-based owner of Sale Sharks rugby union club, has put the financial clout of his Latium business group behind the McCanns’ fight to clear their name.
He said: “In the light of the incredible accusations against Gerry and Kate McCann, which are clearly exacerbating their emotional torture, I felt compelled to offer, along with other like-minded businessmen, financial support and the full logistical support of the Latium team. That support is principally our in-house lawyer Ed Smethurst, and Clarence Mitchell.”
Mr Smethurst is a lifelong Bury resident and specialises in high profile cases. He is also ambassador of Cancer Research UK and recently mounted a legal challenge to stop the controversial £50 million wind farm development at Scout Moor, Edenfield.

“HUNT FOR ‘MADDIE DOUBLE’ SNATCHER”
Blue-eyed Carolina Santos is a “Madeleine McCann lookalike”. She is a young girl with brown hair, a broad nose, olive complexion and blue eyes. Her parents, Able and Lina, say a Moroccan-looking man tried to snatch her at their café in Portugal four months before Madeleine vanished.
Says Abel: “We want to see Maddie found as much as anyone. She and Carolina were doubles”
Says a voice at Metodo 3, the private detectives: “This could be relevant”

“MADELEINE – POLICE TO CALL McCANNS BACK – They want parents and Tapas 9 friends for new quiz in Portugal”
“Police want Kate and Gerry McCann to return to Portugal before Christmas for fresh interrogations over the disappearance of their daughter Madeleine” – Might it be all over by Christmas?
“The couple could be forced into a confrontation with witnesses or be made to appear in an identity parade” – An ID parade… To what ends? To see if they truly are Kate and Gerry McCann, the country’s most photographed couple?
First Portuguese police are heading to the UK to sit in on interviews between British police and the “Tapas 9”
Says a “source close to the case” in Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha: “When the operations begin on British soil we will be in a position to determine if it is necessary to bring people to Portugal. It may be necessary to do some identifications or to organise confrontations with witnesses”

Hi all
Another PJ botch-up!
DNA samples in Madeleine case ‘amateurish’
By Nick Britten
Last Updated: 6:07pm GMT 05/12/2007
Portuguese police were furious when they were accused of messing up the gathering of crucial DNA samples which they hoped would implicate Madeleine McCann’s parents in her disappearance, it has been claimed.
A row erupted after senior officers in the investigation were said to have been called “amateurish” by officials at the Forensic Science Service (FSS).
The Portuguese team flew to Britain a week ago apparently expecting to be told that DNA taken from Gerry and Kate McCann, the family’s holiday flat and hire car would heavily implicate them in their four-year-old daughter’s disappearance.
With no other evidence, they were thought to be pinning their hopes of charging them on the DNA results.
But angry scenes broke out when they were told shortly into the meeting that the tests were inconclusive, partly because the samples were so small.
A source close to the investigation said: “At the meeting there was a row over the relative failure to collect evidence and the correct manner of assessing it.
“The Portuguese police wanted to know why the results they were anticipating did not materialise.
“The FSS made it clear that things could have been protected better.
“It does not mean there was a lot of evidence waiting to be found but the evidence that was collected was done in a very amateurish way.
“The Portuguese took this badly and there was a big debate. They were unhappy and thought it was implicit criticism of the way they had collected the evidence.
“It went down badly and there was a heated exchange of views between the two groups.”
Despite the inconclusive nature of the tests so far, the FSS are continuing to probe further with the samples in the hope of deciding whether they are relevant one way or the other.
The groups met a week ago to discuss the results of DNA taken from the McCanns’ holiday apartment in Praia da Luz and their hire car.
The samples reportedly include microscopic spots of blood from the Ocean Club apartment where Madeleine went missing on May 3 and “bodily fluids” and hair from the Renault Scenic her parents hired 25 days later.
The Portuguese police will this week send a letter to British authorities to notify them of their intention to come to Britain in the next fortnight to re-interview the McCanns, from Rothley, Leics, and the friends who were with them on their holiday.
The McCanns, who remain official suspects in Madeleine’s disappearance, are preparing for a possible return to Portugal should officers want to question them there or take part in an identity parade.
Clarence Mitchell, their spokesman, said: “They have always claimed they would be happy to return if required to help in any way that would assist the police and lead to them being eliminated as suspects.”
Foreign officers would not be allowed to question directly the McCanns and their friends – known as the “Tapas Nine” – but would be present while British detectives did so and would provide a list of questions they want answered.
With little DNA evidence to go on apparently, police will focus on perceived inconsistencies with the group’s official statements to help them crack the case.
Hi Anthony
With everything that has been going on I forgot to make a mention of your last post which contained a number of very interesting points such as;
”whoever took madeline would have died their hair from black to blonde probably, when the first pictures of murats girlfriend came out i thought she was blonde and she wore sunglasses that hid her eyebrows, if you look at her now she has a head of dark hair and the die growing out is about 6 months old, she must have died it around the time madeline went missing as she has no roots in the picture, strange that.”
”I would rule out the towel and anything else that the pj find as the chances are it is a plant, it would not be the first time.”
”There is no record of sergi malinka or murats girlfriend or her husband looking for madeleine, strange.”
I think I’ll keep a look out for ‘old’ photographs of MW and have a look at the length of the roots! Your comment about none of RM’s cronies searching for Madeleine seems to be correct and is very interesting. We know that Murat didn’t look for Madeleine. If his girlfriend had, surely she would have phoned him to say that a wee girl had gone missing and that she was involved in the search. Then of course there is SM who was on the phone to RM, as everyone and their granny was searching and ’shouting Madeleine’s name from one end of PDL to the other’. Very good point, Anthony. It would seem that not one of them seemed to know that there was a large search party looking, all over PDL, for Madeleine that night - very strange! Or as you point out they didn’t bother to search because, for them, it was pointless.

One thing that is bothering me, when I went to Tesco yesterday there was nothing about Madeleiene in any of the papers. For months now every day there has always been something, even if it was just a small article-but yesterday there was nothing!

I think there is a risk in any situation when you are doing something wrong. There was that guy in America that broke in a house in the middle of the night and stole the little girl from her bed while the parents were asleep in the next room. There is the incident In the North if England where the little girl was stolen from the bath while her mother was in the very next room getting her pyjamas for her. It just goes to show that these evil people ‘do’ and ‘will’ take huge risks to get what they want. And I strongly believe that there would have been more than one person involved, someone was watching the parents /friends while the other /s took Madeleine.
I think the reason Murat is a suspect is because he is very much involved and the corrupt police are looking after him!

I agree with you, Kate does look too relaxed and she didn’t do herself any favours on the Panorama documentary. But what we have to remember is this poor woman really hasn’t a clue how to behave on nation TV, especially when on top of loosing her child she is conscious of the entire world looking and judging her on how she behaves. Kate and Gerry have been ‘educated’ on how to appear on TV, they were told by experts not to show too many emotions as the abductors would ‘get off on it’. And if they were to scream and cry hysterically they may not get the message across. In the early days she left all the talking to Gerry but she looked absolutely terrible. Her mother said once in an interview that Kate was a VERY private person and didn’t show her feeling much to anyone, there are people like that but it doesn’t mean they are screaming on the inside. Thats the only explanation that can give.

Lauren
I could really challenge you and ask you to put your money where your mouth is. To start with, Isla, Mike and I (who you seem to have the most hump with in your last few posts) have never ever been deliberately rude to anyone on this site, in fact quite the opposite. I myself have always tried to be polite to everyone also. But in all fairness you (who is currently called Lauren) and annie (who used to be called alice) have from day one been quite nasty and spiteful in your replies to other members on here especially Isla! Now for your info, I DO NOT always agree 100% with all that is said on here even by the regular posters, but, I would never in a million years attack them with the vermin that you have-because what they are saying is NOT wrong, nor is it offensive or insulting, it’s just a matter of opinion, if you don’t agree then let’s have a friendly debate without all this nasty unpleasantness that you have brought onto this site.
As far as Isla is concerned I don’t know this person from a bar of soap! But I do like her posts, her knowledge of child abuse and the fact she DOES care about children’s welfare. But sometimes I don’t always agree with all of the posts, but if I felt the need to say so I would say it in a manner that is acceptable on this site.
One thing is for sure, I didn’t come on here to prove I’m the best bitch ever, I would rather come to a friendly forum then a one that is ruled by spiteful ppl, it’s the way I was brought up, you know those little free things in life called manners? You on the other hand come across as the opposite, and your only defence is turning all you’re failing around and tarring us with the same brush. I’ve said this to you before but a lot of your posts are contradictory.
Now my challenge to you is, show me any of the post on here from regulars that have STARTED any trouble on here if you can! If any of the regulars have been rude (including me) it’s because we are only defending ourselves. I / we didn’t start this-you did!
This used to be a forum to discuss Madeleine and her parents (which is inevitable) but you and annie sure put a stop to that.
Just look back at your post for goodness sake!!
Lauren – if you hate us so mush why do you still come on here, there are plenty of forums that hate the McCann’s and pretend to care about Madeleine and you would be most welcome there.
Lauren, I won’t reply to you again – ever!

Hi all
Back to all of this again! I’m breaking a promise I made to myself, last night, already!!
Lauren
I would like to clarify a couple of points here. You posted this comment this morning
”…….. and Isla, grow up the pair of you. Your remarks directed at myself and Annie1 are bordering on the ridiculous. Your views and opinions of me, mean nothing.”
Can I just say that I posted some comments last night and as I typed them you didn’t enter my mind for one moment (I was thinking of some other individuals most of whom don’t post on here at all), until I started to write about ‘dumping personal baggage’ - ‘contrary’. I made that singular comment about you because YOU had mentioned issues relating to your past and then, LATER, made negative comments about ME doing so. There wasn’t ONE word of that post directed to you other than that, as I don’t have a ‘view or opinion of you’, but you are still directing nasty comments to me.
You also seem to be trying to confuse issues by explaining to individuals on this forum why I say what I do!
”What i do think is wrong is to be judgemental the way that Isla is. She seems to think that her offloading her thoughts and past experiences on here, have merit because she sees herself as pro Mc, but anyone else doing it, who may be viewed as anti McCann, their feelings are worthless”
I actually don’t have a clue as to what you are on about. I have never, at any time, felt anything other than sympathy and compassion for anyone discussing their private life on this forum and that includes you. In fact when you were discussing your past I was going to respond to your posts, but reckoned I may get a negative retort in return, so let it go. When I make comments about people projecting or dumping their personal baggage onto the McCanns, I am referring to a well known psychological theory that relates to people who are vindictive, cruel or vile who are focussed, often at an unconscious level, on making other people’s life a misery. Once again these comments are made with reference, mostly, to individuals posting on other forums. I’ll just repeat again that any comments that I have made re. ‘projecting or dumping personal baggage’ DIDN’T relate to you and especially not with regard to your personal background.

Hi Isla and all
I agree whole heartedly with your comments. Please continue to post because we all need to know ALL of the details, not just some so that we can debate them and either throw them out as rubbish or consider them as ‘perhaps’.

Anthony, i meant to say to you before i do enjoy your posts, on the whole you manage just to stay focused on Madeleine and do not allow yourself to be dragged into the nonsense that seems to go on here, from time to time. I dont get all of your thought processes. And at first, your posts to me seemed a bit like the ravings of a mad man, lol. And i was wrong, you have a lot of passion about what you believe, and you stand strong behind those beliefs. There is no doubt to me that you have given what you think may have happened a lot of thought, time and effort. Strangely enough, its people like you, looking at things from all angles, who may just stumble across something that makes the difference in all of this.

5355 Maggie, i think you need to stop having knee jerk reactions any time anyone posts anything that you deem is having a dig at yourself or Isla. My response about baggage was aimed at something Isla said. She claimed people were only slagging off the McCanns to offload their own personal baggage - i responded to that.
I know when i shared a little about me, the people who responded were very nice. And no i dont think it is wrong to share something about yourself, that may in a way explain why you think the way you do. What i do think is wrong is to be judgemental the way that Isla is. She seems to think that her offloading her thoughts and past experiences on here, have merit because she sees herself as pro Mc, but anyone else doing it, who may be viewed as anti McCann, their feelings are worthless. And they are just offloading their baggage in a negative way. Isla cant have it both ways Maggie. Everyones opinion on here is valid. We may not always agree, but isnt that life? Isnt that what makes us individual?

Re 5349, Swissmiss you say, how can anyone be anti McCann without knowing them, couldnt the same be said for anyone being pro McCann without knowing them either? Do you really think, it should boil down to that? That you either have to be pro or anti - isnt this supposed to be about finding Madeleine? The whole pro / anti crap is so childish on here, its like a popularity contest for Kate and Gerry. To be honest, Kate and Gerry are surrounded by people who know them, love and like them, so they have their support network. Who does Madeleine have with her right now? Yet i am supposed to be more concerned about the feelings of her parents? I think not.

Anthony, i just want to clarify something with you. I have never said i think the McCanns killed Madeleine. So where you have got that from i dont know. I dont think they have killed her and are covering this up, or anything of that nature. My only beef with them is that fact they left the children alone in the first place, thats it. The fact they have had their daughter taken, i do feel incredibly sorry for the pain and anguish they must feel every waking moment. I dont think by saying they shouldnt have left the children and perhaps Maddie, being taken may have been avoided, means i think they have harmed her, cos i dont. Or that it means i dont feel sorry for them, because i do. I just dont like the fact you have to be in either the anti or pro camps to be able to express a view. I am in neither camp. My interest is in finding Madeleine alive and well. Then hopefully the who has done what, how where and when will be discovered.
And to anyone else, i am not anti or pro McCann, i have said before, i think its childish to even have this anti / pro stance. I am interested only in the truth and Madeleine McCann being found.
Mike and Isla, grow up the pair of you. Your remarks directed at myself and Annie1 are bordering on the ridiculous. Your views and opinions of me, mean nothing. You are 2 names on here. You are not important in my life, so if you are under the delusion that your words mean something to me, youre both failing dismally, sorry. Maybe knowing this, will allow you to free up a bit of the time you waste on here, trying to to write posts directed at me in an attempt to have a go or put me down. To be honest, i just laugh at the nonsense you both write, so apart from giving me a good giggle everyday, youre not really achieving much else.

Hi Isla
post 5347
I agree 100% well said.
What is the difference between a pro-McCann and an anti-McCann , because we are all agreed that Kate and Gerry should never have left the children alone that evening.
So if you read their posts it stands out like a sore thumb.
Pro-McCann’s are only concerned with finding Madeleine, and showing compassion.
Anti-McCann’s are only concerned with Kate and Gerry , and seeing them banged up.

ps : I don’t love them because I don’t know them….. I don’t have any hatred from them either but I hate that they did leave the kids alone… but they are paying the price of that mistake now and they shouldn’t be punished anymore if Maddie is found alive.

Hey Isla:
How are you? I still don’t know how someone who is anti-mccann can be without knowing them. Unless they really know them personally… that’s what I’ve never understood…(not you of course, Isla). I don’t love them but until proven guilty I will give them the benefit of doubt.
I forgot who said about Michaela’s hair color..was that Anthony who said it? Could very well be… I truly think that she could have easily put on Mens clothing /make up etc…… wig or even colored her hair. Since she was Murats girlfriend…..why wasn’t she right next to him in the search for Maddie?????? - Unless… Murat only wanted people to see what a “caring” person he really was..but on the other side….. he KNOWS SOMETHING! - Sounds like Dr. Jekill (Sp?) and Mr. Hyde!
Why is Murat claiming bankruptcy?? With all of his so called companies and family company they have??????
Mike:
Question: Is there anyway to be able to get a background check of the people involved? In the US, one has to pay something in order to be able to do that and they’ll send a copy. Can you do that in Portugal or the UK?
