Madeleine McCann Not In Malta Or Morocco
FROM Paulo Reis in Portugal:
Portuguese CID spokesman, about Madeleine abduction: “The clue to this mistery is in Praia da Luz”
Portuguese authorities have dismissed as groundless all leads on sightings of Madeleine McCann in other countries rather than Portugal, namely in Morroco and Malta, said Polícia Judiciária (PJ), Portuguese CID, spokesman Olegário de Sousa (…) Further investigations are being carried out centered mainly on the area of Praia da Luz itself, said Mr. Olegário de Sousa. «The clue to this mistery is in Praia da Luz», according to other police source quoted by Diário de Notícias. Note: Kate and Gerry McCann are innocent.

I find it so hard writing on here now, I had hoped that Madeleine would have been found by now Metro3 were certainly confident, but both Metro3 and the Ex SAS have all gone a little quiet I hope that might be a good sign, sad about PDL taking down all the posters of Madeleine seems like they have given up on the poor little girl as well as the government I would like nothing better then Madeleine to be fould alive and well before christmas but even I have to admit that is seems to be getting more and more unlikely, I cannot understand through WHY Metro3 went on the TV and were so sure they knew who took her, where she was and they were closing in on the abductors, they have stuck there necks on the line a bit, I wonder if they are still employed by the McCanns, as far as the friends meeting I hope they have talked about ways of keeping Madeleines profile high, but it appears that everyone is jumping to the conclusion that they were up to something else, I cannot believe this and I hope we will see some more positive sightings or news soon from Metro3 or the McCanns spokesman

Hi All
We must all keep hoping and praying that she will be home for Christmas, but deep down inside I fear that she won’t be. As one or two have said Metodo3 have kept quiet for some time now, so I hope that they are actually following leads that may be the right ones this time. Seven months is such a long time for a little girl to be away from her family. I do so hope that whoever has her now has enough compassion to let her go back home. Someone somewhere must know something. I am absolutely positive now, on seeing the photographs of Kate McCann at weekend, that she doesn’t know anything, because I am sure she wouldn’t look as drawn as she does if she knew where Madeleine was, or what had happened to her.

Hi Everyone
Having read some articles from so called psychic’s I have come to the conclusion that the world is full of idiots who think they possess some special gift ,however if you take all the reports and put them together, she is dead , but could be alive and living in every country you could possibly name. However this article I did find interesting because she is a well known psychic, and most repected psychics that are asked to help just say: ” The family or police have to ask me before I can help. ”
Sunday Mirror, Jul 15, 2007 by NIALL DONALD
An Irish ‘psychic’ yesterday insisted she knew the exact location of missing Madeleine McCann.
Sarah Delamere Hurding claimed to have met gardai to tell them how to find the four-year-old.
Ms Hurding said she believed Maddy had NOT been taken out of Portugal.
Yesterday, she urged the Portuguese police to follow her “psychic clues”.
She said: “I believe that Maddy is not a stone’s throw from where she was taken.
“She is in a place which is just a 20-minute drive away when the roads are deserted.”
Ms Hurding said she had received psychic messages pointing to the hills behind the holiday complex at Praia da Luz.
She said: “I had not intended to get involved psychically in the search for Maddy.
“But I got a strong message that the authorities need to search an area two to four miles from Praia da Luz in a north-easterly direction.
“I believe Maddie is inland in a remote and desolate place.”
Ms Hurding met two officers from Dalkey Garda station and told them this.
She previously worked with gardai in their hunt for the missing bank worker Trevor Deely.
She said: “I know the gardai in Dalkey from the local area, and two of them called out to me and took down all the information.
“I also emailed the details to the police in Britain but nothing has happened yet.”
Ms Hurding worked for RTE on the channel’s show Popstars and has worked with U2 singer Bono.

Great post and I agree totally.
Good to see you posting again. You’ve been a miss.

OK,OK, What are they trying to do now!!
The PJ would like to hold the interviews with Kate and Gerry McCann THEIR way!! Correct me if I’m wrong, which I’m not, didn’t they imprison an innocent mother for killing her daughter when there was no evidence of this? Didn’t the mother immediately retract her statement when she got into relative safety? I think it’s a good idea that the PJ are NOT allowed to ‘force’ a false statement from the McCanns. I’m sure Leicestershire police are more than capable of conducting interviews without resorting to tactics used by former Gestapo agents!!
And still it goes on! One day this theory, next day another. Statements coming out from Portugese press with no foundations and being taken up by world media. We may ask ourselves when will this ever end? I for one hope it doesn’t!! Sound cruel? Why do you think the McCanns have endured such recrimination from the press? Because it keeps the case high profile still!! That is the sole aim, keep it in the news and keep people aware that Maddie is STILL missing. I applaud them for their bravery in doing whatever has to be done to keep this news story in the media spotlight. I’ve never known a case to continue to remain there for so long. Well done to them!
I don’t know about the rest of you, but when i was wrapping presents for my girls for Christmas I couldn’t help but think about Maddie. Will she have presents wherever she is? Will her parents save her presents for her?
I’m going to send just a tiny little something in a jiffy bag to Rothely. I doubt I will be the only one to do this either. I hope it shows the McCanns that there are still a lot of people out here thinking of them and Maddie. That we still have faith she is alive, and we still believe she will return home. Well, we aren’t ever going to give up our search, are we peeps?
Happy Christmas to one and all, and most of all to those who cannot come home for Christmas.
luv ‘n’ stuff

Kat, re 5458. Agree with you totally. The secrecy around this meeting and the fact that it was held at all, just adds more fuel to the fire in the perception that the McCanns and their friends have something to hide. Im not suggesting that they do have anything to hide. I just feel whoever advised them that it would be ok to go ahead with this meeting, gave them the wrong advice. And as you say if it was a show of solidarity, why the secrecy in the first place?
Sadly, i feel too much of the medias attention is on the McCanns and their every move, and not enough time devoted to Madeleine.
I feel so angry at the Portuguese Police for the amount of time wasting they have done. A child has been out there waiting for someone to come get her, and instead of that being the priority. The priority seems to have been to do anything other than look for Madeleine, even though there is no evidence that she is not alive. The focus has constantly been on trying to prove that Maddie is dead. As well as innocent until proven guilty, it should be alive until proven otherwise.
This year, more than any other year, with every present i wrap for my children, i am just so much more aware, that so many children, will be neglected, hurt, abused, and not be with people who truly love and treasure them
A small prayer for Madeleine and all the children out there who are not living the life every child should be born to have. A prayer for everyone who continues to hope and believe that things can be different. A prayer for everyone who hasnt given up on Madeleine and hope and pray for her return.
God bless you and keep you safe Madeleine, where ever you may be xXx

I had another thought……. about the night that Maddie disappeared… saddly….. could there be a slight possibility that someone of the Tapas 9 accidentally did something to Maddie but were too drunk to remember what happened today ??????
Ok.. I think I really watch too much tv!!! -

Hi everyone:
Here is something I don’t understand that they have in the US. Do they have it there where you are too??? Who isn’t insane for killing a /his/her child… they always let them “go” … this is just mind boggling to me…….. that’s why people can get away with “murder”!!!!!
***
LANCASTER, Pa. — A Lancaster woman who killed her two children has been found not guilty by reason of insanity.
Meghan Lippiatt admitted suffocating her infant son and drowning her 2-year-old son in 2004.
Prosecutors wanted a first-degree murder conviction and possible death sentence. Instead, Lippiatt will likely be institutionalized.
Lippiatt said God told her to kill the two boys because they were suffering.

Hi All,
Kat i agree that it was not the best move most probably. This meeting will have people talking and the Police also. I hope there was some sort of representative there of the McCs or the friends to verify that nothing underhand was discussed? If it were me i’d have insisited on it to ensure my own protection. To say they discussed tactics is a choice of words i wouldn’t have used.
I hope this isn’t anything untoward. but not the smartest thing to have done i don’t think. They all seem to be forgetting under Portugese law they could be pulled in and be in real trouble for it. They all seem to be flouting the PP secrecy laws- RM included- giving interviews, talking with suspects, not that i think that much of the Portugese laws.
Anyway, i just hope that M3 are onto something, i hope and pray for it.

I’m sure that they would have told their lawyers that they planned to meet their friends. The only concern I have is that at this moment in time it would be foolish to trust either Russell O’Brien or Jane Tanner.
“It was the first time that the group had collectively met since Madeleine’s disappearance. Of course it was emotional and deeply sad for all involved.
“It was an opportunity for the group to discuss the events of the summer and to talk about what may happen next.
“They wanted to talk about possibly being interviewed by police again and what that may entail.”
The McCanns and their friends have always denied that they were involved in Madeleine’s disappearance or agreed a “pact of silence”. But you have to ask the question, are they wrong to trust any of the tapas 7 at this moment in time. Until the investigation is complete it would have made more sense to have kept their distance.
December 11th, 2007 at 8:51 am
“It was a show of solidarity under police claims that one or two had wanted to change their stories,” said a source.
“That is just not the case and the meeting showed that. It was a meeting to express support by the friends and just to see each other again. They hadn’t seen each other properly.”
* * * * * * *
How can a meeting being held in secret be a ’show of solidarity’ ?
Yet more media speculation that will do no favours for the parents or the friends it just makes them all look suspicious and sheds them in a bad light.
It’s ludricous it really is…..when the McCann’s were charged they should’ve had bail conditions set to prevent them from approaching or speaking to the witnesses….this is to safeguard themselves and the investigation…..honestly it’s farcicle.
Madeleine, hope Santa brings you home for christmas sweetheart x x x

Post subject: DAILY MAIL McCanns call Tapas Nine to secret talks
——————————————————————————–
The McCanns and the friends they were dining with when Madeleine vanished have met for the first time since that night seven months ago, it has been revealed.
The Tapas Nine had a highly emotional and “deeply sad” reunion at a hotel near Kate and Gerry’s home in Rothley, Leicestershire.
The willingness of the friends to meet dispels claims that some of them had fallen out with the couple and wanted to change their witness statements given to Portuguese police.
The timing is also important, as Portuguese officers plan to re-interview the couple and the friends in the UK, possibly in the next week or so.
The Tapas Nine have been in constant contact through phone calls and emails.
But the hotel reunion was their first meeting since Madeleine disappeared on 3 May from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz on the Algarve.
A source close to the McCanns said the meeting, which took place last month, was kept secret because of the huge interest it would have generated.
“It was a show of solidarity under police claims that one or two had wanted to change their stories,” said a source.
“That is just not the case and the meeting showed that. It was a meeting to express support by the friends and just to see each other again. They hadn’t seen each other properly.”
The McCanns are said to have used the reunion to, in part at least, “talk tactics” in the search for Madeleine

COPS PROBE TAPAS SEVEN SECRET CHAT
ABOVE: Madeleine McCann11th December 2007 By Jerry Lawton
Police are probing a secret summit between the parents of Madeleine McCann and the pals dining with them when she vanished.
Kate and Gerry McCann met the so-called Tapas Seven at a hotel near their home.
It was the first time the group had got together since the ill-fated Portuguese holiday in May.
The McCanns described the meeting as “highly emotional”.
But last night police were probing whether the pals had used it as a chance to get their stories straight.
It is hard to believe they were merely swapping holiday photos A probe source
If they suspect a conspiracy to obstruct justice, the pals could each face up to two years in jail.
Under English law such a meeting between the McCanns, who are both suspects, and their key witness pals would be banned during a criminal investigation.
The details of last month’s meeting emerged as the prosecutor sent a letter to the Home Office asking for permission to re-interview the McCanns and their friends.
Kate and Gerry, 39, of Rothley, Leics, say Madeleine vanished two days before her fourth birthday as they dined with pals in a nearby tapas bar in Praia da Luz.
A source close to the probe said: “The McCanns and their friends are about to be re-interviewed and it is revealed they have met up in secret.”
“It is hard to believe they were merely swapping holiday photos.”
ut the McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell said they had nothing to hide.
He said the meeting was kept secret because of the “huge interest” it would have sparked.

Hi Jean
I totally agree with your post (5448) If the PJ had gone down every avenue, followed every lead and every sighting, I think Madeleine would be home by now. To now say they are believing she could have been abducted is 7 months too late, who knows what poor Madeleine has been going through just because they did not bother to look for her. It is heartbreaking to imagine her family having Christmas without her and she without them. Poor little soul! I just wish they would find her before Christmas.
Jean; I also agree with you regarding Gordon Brown. He should be looking after his own people, regardless of the risk or falling out with the Portuguese authorities. (Especially as he is a father himself). Lets hope he has a heart and changes his mind. Time is moving on and January 3rd is fast approaching, it is unbearable to think the case may then close and Madeleine will become another unsolved mystery. No wonder Kate and Gerry and pleading with Gordon Brown.
Hi Kirsty yes the M3 have gone quiet. What happened to them saying they know who took Madeleine, and that they are sure she is alive? I hope there is a lot going on behind the scenes, and they are close to finding her. I really did not believe this go on for so long, I did not think it would go on for 3 months let alone 7 months.

‘Madeleine would be better served by UK justice,’ says Britain’s top barrister
Last updated at 16:29pm on 10th December 2007
Timothy Dutton QC: ‘UK law best for Madeleine’
Britain’s top barrister today attacked the Portuguese legal system over its handling of the Madeleine McCann case.
Bar Council chairman Timothy Dutton QC suggested in a speech in London that “British justice” would have been more effective in discovering the truth about her disappearance.
He said this was because UK police and lawyers would have used a “methodical approach” to establish facts and would “carefully test” evidence before reaching conclusions.
Although Mr Dutton declined to single out specific problems with the Portuguese investigation, his words will be seen as a direct criticism of police and lawyers in the Algarve.
“I was heartened to hear public demands for good old British justice during the recent press coverage of the disturbing Madeleine McCann case,” Mr Dutton said.
“What was being sought was the methodical approach. This would have provided a well-adjudicated process under which evidence is carefully tested and the issues presented to an impartial jury.”
His comments follow complaints from the McCanns’ supporters about the handling of the investigation.

Found this on the Brian Ladd Website interesting read on Robert Murats, auntie and sister
defy anyone who points the finger at RM and says it ‘was him. He did it.’ Because this is still not what I sense at all. I contemplated the press release of ‘the man with the phone’ back in the early days … I’ve done it again just now … I cannot sense any participation in an abduction at all.
There are significators of the characters and elements of the mystery around in this working … which require some intuited ‘comprehension’ however.
The User of Weapons (the significator for GM) and The Empress (the significator for KM). The Keeper of Staves (the significator for the former spokesperson of the Unicorn - CM?) … the Keeper of Crescents and the Giver of Crescents (significators relating to perpetrators of the abduction0 - two of the three I sense to be there at the very heart of the abduction … and their close tie/link to the media world, hence their secrecy kept intact by someone fully aware of their ‘mission’ who also has considerable power in the media world to influence the tabloids and also be ‘above the law’ …. the 4 of Weapons … and its obvious link to the characters of the Crescents and their insistence to keep pulling RM into the limelight as a way of concealing their own involvements and their own influences …
The crystal casting has fallen in a not so obvious pattern of the outline of England & Wales … its border around the 4 of Weapons … in particular the stone which falls above the female figure in the Giver of Crescents … geographically that stone appears to be somewhere around Salisbury … Winchester … that area inland from Southampton … what is significant relating to RM there? Perhaps it is nothing at all … but there is something diversionary about the way the press now focusses once more on RM. Last week it was on his ‘girlfriend’ … now it is the original suspect again.
The crystal stones of significance have been described in the working - the pink stone of ‘mother love’ above the Empress; the black stone of ’secrecy’ upon the 4 of Weapons; the ‘eye stone’ upon the 10 of Spheres and the medical ‘granite’ stone upon the Keeper of Staves …. all linked it seems to RM. However … I sense the mother love stone does not relate to Km being linked to RM. I feel it appertains to the mother of RM. I suspect there is something not related specifically to MM which is an undertone to this situation ….
I have always been wary of saying that RM is in truth whiter than white. There is something ‘in the region of grey’ about this man. The 10 of Spheres and the 6 of Spheres … RM is involved in something ‘covert’ …. something appertaining to the ‘laws of secrecy’ but what it is does not in anyway implicate him with the disappearance of MM. There is contradiction I sense … but what it relates to I cannot see .. at this point. I dismiss it therefore as irrelevant.
the 6 of Spheres is mention of compensation or ‘for someone’s troubles’ .. a favour or a deed rewarded. Someone seems to be putting someone up to something. There is a sense of a scapegoat status for the sake of the 4 of Weapons perhaps?A deliberate implication within the ‘cover story’ … and the chance to clear a great deal of money? A favour? I have a sense of some kind of racketeering in the past.
Previous opportunities prior to ‘the eye’ … prior to MM … RM has involvement in covert operations appertaining to missing children perhaps? A covert operation? His expertise valued by someone? Nobody really knows just what RM is about other than what the media ‘have revealed’ …
The 10 of Crescents appears to suggest a genuineness about the original suspect towards the McCanns. It is possible he knew of them prior to this mystery … but it seems to be nothing sinister … just an awareness that a group of eminent doctors would be staying at the resort close by to where his mother resides … someone somewhere has a foreknowledge of RM and a cunningness to pull him into the mystery …. but why and how? More workings may well be required to explore this subject still further perhaps?

2) Remember that Robert Murat’s sister lives in the south of England, as well as his auntie, Sally Eveleigh, that I believe has property there & some of the Tapas 9 are from that area too:
3-12-07 Daily Mail
“ Officers have not given up on their theory that Madeleine died in an accident in her parents’ care and that they covered up her death, possibly with help from their friends or even from Mr Murat.
They were said to be puzzled by possible links between him and Dr O’Brien, 36, and his partner Jane Tanner.
Mr Murat, a property consultant, was visiting his sister in Exeter in April a few days before the disappearance, and Dr O’Brien and Miss Tanner, 37, live there.
A source said: “It needs to be established if Murat knew families with children would be staying 100 metres from where he lived.” “
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=499249
3) Remember that Robert Murat’s mother, Jenny Murat, is an ex Nurse. I am wondering if she is some sort of link to the medical connection that Matthew James has brought up many times before, that the abductors or custodians have a link to the medical profession.
4) Also, in this link, I still wonder if this is Robert Murat’s auntie, Sally Eveleigh, a Fundraising Manager for an adoption agency in Devon, Dorset & Cornwall, SE England? http://www.adoption-net.co.uk/news/2003/mar/040303appeal2.htm
5) The fact that Matthew James mentions the south of England again and especially for me the place ‘Winchester’ stands out, following the dream that I had 6th May, that I emailed to you in June or July (added below*) of Madeleine being found in a deep hole.
*…” had a strange dream a few days after Madeleine went missing, that she was found in a deep hole in a grassy area, not much wider than herself & was about 4 feet from the top. I think it was close to a woodland area or definitely some trees around. Madeleine was looking up out of this deep hole & she had pain in her left hip.
I was actually looking up through her eyes & could feel the pain in my left hip. I think I heard above the hole, what I thought was a helicopter, tractor or just traffic (not sure) above, but not long afterwards I (she) was found & I could hear myself saying ‘ about blo*dy time & felt a great amount of relief. The feeling I had was that it was actually her father that found her, but sounds too crazy. It sort of reminded me of Saddam Hussein hiding in a hole for so long. What a hiding place.”
I resent my dream to you again, following your DD some time back, stating that RM was digging a hole, me saying oh no not the dreaded hole! Thinking it was related to the dream that I had.
And then some months later, one of your readers had a very similar dream of Madeleine being in a deep hole too, but the writer also mentioned it being in Winchester, so I resent my original email to you yet again, with the below comments:
“ I find this such a big coincidence that someone should have such a similar dream!!
I have thought over & over about my 1st dream in May & I can only think that this ‘maybe’ is the final outcome of Madeleine being found - in a deep hole. I maybe wrong of course. But my dreams in the past years have normally been the final outcome, plane crashes etc.
If, whoever has Madeleine (alive of course!) may have the intention of handing her back, after they have made their point (whatever that might be) - but how can they hand her back without being arrested?
It would be an ideal thing for them to do, to hide her in a hole temporarily before reporting anonomously where to find her, with the intention of her not being harmed (hopefully).
The readers post/dream/vision on your website mentions Winchester & Winchester Cathedral etc :
“ I envisioned her at what appeared to be 8-25 ft inside a narrow dark tunnel; the tunnel appeared to be not much wider than she. She was looking “UP” to me, from the depth of a dark tunnel. She asked for help.
The words “Winchester”, “Diamond”, “Lift”, “West” and “Windows” were sent today; yesterday the words “River” and “Rote”.
Regarding location: A clear vision of a BARE BRANCHED tree in the foreground of a lawn of a foggy, grey, damp time of day. In the distance, perhaps 150 to 200 yards away, was a building whose lights were visible through the foggy mist. The buildings’ outline could faintly be observed. I compared it somewhat to the U.S. Capital building in shape; but not as curved, and, the size was smaller although the building is more than one story.
Doing keyword searches for the words associated with the visions of today, I found “Winchester Cathedral”, “Winchester Diamond” (a gun), and, the “West Front of Winchester Cathedral” which to my surprise IS “beveled” on each side, with large windows which would allow light to shine through on a grey, foggy day.
Yesterday, after keyword searching “Rote” and “River” combined, my curiosity was piqued when I found there is a “Rote River” in Germany.
Assuming it was Madeleine whom I connected with today, and I am reading her message clearly; she is alive, in good health, bright eyed, pleading for help, from a small dark tunnel like area.
As you said, it is important for her parents to leave Portugal because if they are imprisoned they can not continue searching for Madeleine. Perhaps Madeleine is NOT in Portugal? “
This description of the hole that the writer gives, I am absolutely ‘gob-smacked’ about, as this is such coincidence, because the hole I saw was not much wider than Madeleine & she/ (I) was looking up.
I am still in shock to be honest. I don’t understand why this persons dream is the same as mine. It must mean something. “
Since then, Matthew James has said that the hand-over of Madeleine, he can see is at a church area.
And also you have written in one of your DDs more recently that the church will hand her back.
6) Also, just an observation, Michaela Walczuch’s surname was also Matias, from a former marriage. Luis Antonio I believe was her partner, not husband?
A restaurant owner by the name of Miguel Matias was one of the public that saw Madeleine with Gerry on 3rd May.
Same surname, I wonder if any relation to Michaela Matias-Walczuch. Although Matias could be a common Portuguese surname.
16-5-07 Daily Mail
“It was during this time that Mr Murat met Michaela Walczuch, a pretty blonde German divorcee, who was a sales person at the Remax property company he joined in April 2005.
According to company director Mr Soares, Murat became instantly attracted to Ms Walczuch. She also used the name Matias, believed to be from a former marriage.
19-9-07 Daily Mail
“ a restaurant owner who is one of the last people to have seen Madeleine McCann told how she danced with her father on the seafront just hours before she vanished.
Miguel Matias, who has never spoken before, said the McCanns seemed a perfectly normal family and there was nothing to hint at the tragedy to come.
Mr McCann played with his eldest daughter in the sand in front of the balcony and pushed her on a swing before calling her to the table for food and an ice-cream.
Mr Matias said: “It was a perfectly normal, relaxed, happy, family scene. The little girl was even dancing on the esplanade with her dad to the sound of music that was playing. “We couldn’t believe it when we found out what had happened because nothing we saw gave any sign of what was coming.
“We didn’t see anyone suspicious looking at the girl or the people on the other tables. Nor did we see anything out of the ordinary between the families and the children.”
Mr Matias’s evidence confirms Madeleine was alive and well at 6pm, when the family left the restaurant. “
20-9-07 Daily Telegraph
Page 9: “Madeleine’s last dance with father.” Restaurant owner Miguel Matias says he saw Madeleine eating ice-cream and fruit juice before dancing with Gerry. It was May 3, the day she vanished. Says he:” We didn’t see anyone suspicious looking at the girl.”
7) Also, remember what one of your readers wrote, below – it still makes me wonder. I’m not sure where the Oldfield’s live? :
“ Brian,
I sent you an e-mail earlier today regarding a “guided imaging” session in which the answer to “Who is with you”? returned “Rachel”, “mommies friend”.
I just learned the maiden name of Rachel Oldfield is “Manpilly”. Rachel Manpilly. “RM”.
I’ve found news accounts which indicate Matthew Oldfield and Gerry McCann work once co-workers, but I haven’t found any information regarding Kate and Rachels friendship.
Could “RM” be Rachel Manpilly?

McCanns call Tapas Nine to secret talks in ’show of solidarity’
Last updated at 09:58am on 10th December 2007
The McCanns and the friends they were dining with when Madeleine vanished have met for the first time since that night seven months ago, it has been revealed.
The Tapas Nine had a highly emotional and “deeply sad” reunion at a hotel near Kate and Gerry’s home in Rothley, Leicestershire.
The willingness of the friends to meet dispels claims that some of them had fallen out with the couple and wanted to change their witness statements given to Portuguese police.
British detectives will ‘go too easy’ on the McCanns, claim Portuguese police
Summit: Kate and Gerry McCann met the friends they were on holiday with in a deeply sad reunion in Leicestershire
The McCanns are said to have used the reunion to, in part at least, “talk tactics” in the search for Madeleine.
The McCanns were named official suspects in their daughter’s disappearance by Portuguese police.
It has been suggested that Madeleine’s DNA was found in the boot of the Renault Scenic hired by the couple and evidence that a corpse had been in there. But in recent weeks the police case has appeared to unravel.
On Friday the Standard revealed that senior detectives were now admitting they had “no proof” that Madeleine died in the flat.
Mrs McCann appeared to be showing the strain when she was photographed leaving a church service in Rothley yesterday looking exhausted and emotional.

Says the Express: “Portuguese law allows suspects and witnesses to be quizzed more confrontationally”
Says McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell: “This is a matter for Leicestershire police but we have seen nothing that has ever given us any cause for concern. There is nothing to suggest that they will not approach this with anything other than utter professionalism and competency”
Have Leicestershire police ever bungled, bodged or fudged a case? Would the tabloid press care to investigate, as they have the Portuguese police?
“Kate’s face shows terrible strain” – There are “heavy bags” under the Kate McCann eyes. She is “tired”. She is “pale”. Says a “member of the congregation” at the church Kate McCann is attending: “Kate looks as if she is having a really hard time. She looks so desperately sad”

Morning everyone,
So, which is it?? do the PP think Madeleine is alive and was abducted or not???? because it seems clear to me they are still pinning this on the McCs and some of the friends.
It is actually frightening to read Isla’s post where they (PP)are quoted as saying they would put more pressure on them in an interview….i shudder to think! I don’t think the BP would ‘go easy’ on them as was quoted but i do think there would me a more competent approach.
I also disagree with Melanies post because the whole investigation has been an utter shambles. Vital evidence contaminated with fag ash, police officers fingerprint on the shutters, mobile phone records only just been analysed, RM translating witness statements, to name but a few monumental cock-up’s. The PP have let Madeleine down in the worst possible way. I understand they might not be used to this kind of crime and there may not be any plan of action in place should such an incident happen but their secrecy laws and their initial refusal for help and to share their files with the BP has hindered this investigation at every turn. I totally believe somebody knew the Portugese system very well and flouted their short comings to their own ends. Somebody was very cunning in all this and this was a very well planned and perfectly executed crime.
Whoever is responsible may they rot in hell.
M3 has gone very quiet, hope this is a sign of something positive!

MADELEINE: BRITISH POLICE SHOULD TURN SCREWS ON PARENTS SAY THE PORTUGUESE
QUESTIONS: McCanns will face fresh interviews
Monday December 10,2007
By David Pilditch in Praia da Luz
PORTUGUESE police want British officers to get tough on Madeleine McCann’s parents to make them “targets of pressure” and avert a whitewash in the UK, it is claimed.
Senior Portuguese detectives last night raised concerns that British police will not get at the truth with Kate and Gerry McCann because interrogations will not be tough enough.
The Portuguese fear that during “make-or-break” interviews, British police will “go easy” on the McCanns and the friends they were on holiday with in the Algarve when four-year-old Madeleine vanished.
Portuguese law allows suspects and witnesses to be quizzed more confrontationally.
Yesterday it was reported that Portuguese detectives have raised questions over the “competence” of British officers. They are said to be frustrated that they are not being allowed to carry out the interviews themselves because they have no jurisdiction in the UK.
A formal request for the McCanns and their friends to face new interviews is expected to be passed to the Home Office early this week.
The group will be questioned by Leicestershire police – the McCanns’ home force – in meetings that Portuguese officers can sit in on.
The Portuguese visitors will hand a list of 100 questions to prosecutors, which will be passed on to the British police.
Yesterday, Portuguese newspaper 24 Horas quoted an unnamed senior officer saying: “The Portuguese investigators may only sit in and make some suggestions. It would be different if those involved were interrogated by our investigators and targets of pressure.”
But it was reported yesterday that the interviews may not take place till after Christmas because they will be held up by a mass of red tape.
The Portuguese may also ask for the McCanns and their friends to return to the Algarve to take part in identity parades and face-to-face showdowns with witnesses.
Yesterday, the McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “This is a matter for Leicestershire police but we have seen nothing that has ever given us any cause for concern. There is nothing to suggest that they will not approach this with anything other than utter professionalism and competency.”
Meanwhile, the McCanns have been refused a meeting with Gordon Brown amid fears that their plight is being snubbed by the Government.
They are said to have been offered only a meeting with a junior official.

Hi all
Lauren - You have just described exactly how I have been feeling today. I am just getting so low about Madeleine’ s continued absence, and the seeming lack of effort on the behalf of the Portuguese police in looking for her.
I’m afraid I don’t agree with what Melanie has said, as far as I am concerned (apart from the McCanns leaving the children on their own) the Portuguese police are considerably to blame for the haphazard way in which they tackled this abduction from the very beginning. Mike has listed at least 15 points which show what a shambles they made from day 1, and I completely agree with every single one of them. It really boils down to the fact that the police in Praia da Luz had absolutely no idea how to handle the situation, and made a complete botch of the whole affair. Then when the ‘heavies’ came in it was far too late to rectify any of the mistakes the country bobbies had made. They then realised their mistakes and tried to cover up by pinning the blame on the McCanns, which has lasted for God knows how long. Therefore instead of searching for Madeleine they have let any evidence etc go cold because they have concentrated on making her parents arguidos. Now, as I have put in my last post, they have admitted that she may still be alive after a fruitless effort trying to pin the abduction/murder on her parents. What a U-turn, and what an admission of amateur policing.
After reading the article in the Sunday Express where the McCanns have pleaded with Gordon Brown to have a meeting with their legal team and their financial backers to no avail, I will be writing a strongly worded letter to Mr Brown tomorrow asking him to reconsider his position, as it is perfectly obvious the McCanns should now have the arguido status taken from them as it was a farce from the very start. It is obvious that the Police rushed it through because of the impending change in their laws, which now requires them to have more concrete evidence to name the McCanns as official arguidos. This in itself is an indictment against the Portuguese authorities, and Gordon Brown, or his Foreign Secretary, should now be seen to give the McCanns the Governments continued support in their search for Madeleine.

Hi everyone:
Hi Lauren:
I’m like Kat…. Maddie’s case is enough to make one lose their mind…. - I know for me it is driving me nuts!! I can also understand why sometimes one has to feel to “let it out” sometimes if something is bothering you….. but we should try and put all of our hands together and try to come up with a solution in trying to help find Maddie …. no matter how someone feels about the Mcs….. because no matter pro or anti Mcs.. NONE OF US KNOWS FOR SURE WHAT REALLY REALLY HAPPENED THAT NIGHT!! -
By the way… Kat, have you or anyone else forwarded the post on that sol blog on Romigen that you posted on the board awhile back to the Mcs or Metodo3 ??? That was posted in May right awfter Maddie disappeared? If not I think that could be a crucial peace of evidence of who might have taken her if they have taken her….. I was just wondering about that….
December 9th, 2007 at 10:01 pm
Kat, thank you, i appreciate that! It was tough for a while…..
Lauren, i understand why you’re feeling down with the world today i really do. When i think of the possibility that Madeleine and millions of other children around the world are not with the families who love them but with the absoloute dregs of the earth who could be harming them, makes me ill. If i think about it, really think then i am where you are today. I agree with Kat, torture is what they deserve and nothing less. They are not human beings and have no human rights, in my opinion. When you act upon vile perversions that involve children then you give up those rights- without question. The thing that makes me furious is the pathetic sentances they recieve, in cushy prisons with their TV’s and games consoles, people pandering to them….makes me want to throw up. The only real justice they get and deserve is dished out on a daily basis (with any luck) where nobody bats an eyelid.
There is no place in this society for that kind of scum, and i will never understand why we don’t have the death sentances here for peadophiles who are convicted irrefutably. as i stated here before THAT is a sexual preference, and it cannot be cured, no matter what shit comes out of their mouths that they have changed. They can’t.
I hope you are feeling ok, tomorrow is another day!

Oh before I forget Kirstie, I have the highest regard for single mothers and commend them for doing the hardest job in the world on their own. Not only that they are constantly battling with prejudice from society. x

Hello all,
Firstly I just want to say how sorry I am for anyone on this forum who has suffered a loss of a child, losing a loved one is painful enough but to lose a child is unbearable.
#5442 Hi Melanie and welcome to this forum.
I agree that Police forces around the world are under a huge amount of pressure to solve cases quickly and this can sometimes result in a miscarriage of justice. Although it seems the Portuguese Police ‘now’ have their finger firmly on the pulse they did make fundamental errors in the beginning of the case which has had a detrimental effect on finding Madeleine. Initially they ‘believed’ she was dead and had been accidentally killed by her parents, consequently they failed to actively search for a missing child and disregarded some witness statements……now they have changed their minds completely but it could all be too late for poor Madeleine.
#5443 Hi Lauren, don’t apologise for feeling down with the world today…we all have our down days. Whenever I think about the true scale of the Paedophile problem in this world it makes me feel sick to my stomach…I wouldn’t want the people who harm and abuse children to drop dead – I’d want them to be tortured by the people who they have hurt, and have a slow and painful death !!
I really believed that Madeleine was going to be returned by October or November so am deeply saddened that we are approaching Christmas and dear Madeleine is still missing. I look at my 3 ½ year old daughter and couldn’t bear to think of her away from the family she loves for 7 months.
I really can’t imagine how painful it is going to be for Kate and Gerry waking up on Christmas morning and not having Madeleine with them…it’s so sad. Thankfully for them they do have Sean and Amelie to help them get through the day. Having other young children around to keep you busy and fill the house with laughter certainly helps when you lose someone.
X

Mike, i cant imagine how you could go on properly, in the situation that the McCanns or anyone else who has had to face and live with what they are going through. There is one thing, a child dying, through natural causes, and being able to bury that child, knowing that you gave them the best live they could have had. But to have a child disappear, must mean you are living in a constant state of limbo. I dont know how you could ever move on fully, if youre always hoping at the back of your mind that maybe, your child will be found. How you could ever find peace, with the fear that your child is alive and being hurt, just thinking about it is unbearable.
There have been so many occasions where i have felt so positive that Madeleine was about to be found and reunited with her family. I just dont feel that anymore. Maybe its the roller-coaster of all these supposed sightings and imminent rescues makes you cynical of it ever happening in reality. I hope it does.
I wish all these filthy b******ds who harm and abuse children would just drop dead, and all children being held against their will and hurt by these evil perverts would be free to have a normal childhood. Very down with the world today. Sorry

I remember a case, years ago a girl called Lesley Whittle who was abducted or kidnapped from her home - she was a teenager. It took to British police months and months to eventually find her = she had died in a drain on a common land somewhere - It also took the British police several months to bring the culprit to justice - I think the nick name for him was the black panther, but I am not sure. This type of case does take some sorting and I think everyone who is being critical of the PJ should stand back and think just how complicated this case is and has been made by the involvement by the parents of so many bodies outside of the police system. If anyone could have found Madeleine McCann, then I think that she would have been found by now. The Police - everywhere in the world are open to the critics if they do not solve a case quickly - but I wonder how many critics have taken the trouble to find out the statistics as to how many cases have been successfully solved by the Portugese Police. I have rarely seen reports of Portugal being a lawless nation, I am sure the PJ have their finger firmly on the button and I am confident that the conclusion to this sorry, sorry, case is just around the corner

At some point in our lives, we all have to cope with the loss of a loved one. Certainly, there is no loss greater than losing a child and the McCanns continue to endure the most terrible pain that any parent can imagine.
However, there comes a time when every single one of us has to get back into the driving seat and carry on living. We have to return to work when our heart is still breaking; we have to stock the fridge when we are still too upset to even consider eating and we have to smile at people when we feel like crying.
In other words, many of those who dipped into their pockets to try to help the McCanns did so because they had some inkling of their suffering. But they also understand the truth behind the old and irritating cliche ‘life must go on’.
Kate and Gerry McCann still have two children who need routine and normality. They have rewarding jobs for which they each spent many years training and it is time for Kate to follow Gerry’s example and start working again.
Of course, they should never abandon the search for Madeleine. But many of us are beginning to wonder why the McCanns are spending so much time giving television interviews in Spain or the USA.
The couple are occasionally accused of embracing a strange kind of celebrity. If they wish to silence their critics, it is time for them to fade back into the shadows; they need to return to work and to the relative obscurity of their previous lifestyle.
Back in May, the McCanns turned to the media to help them in the hunt for Madeleine. The newspaper and television coverage was initially essential. However, it is now simply adding to the pressures on the couple who remain official suspects in Portugal in the disappearance of their daughter.
If the McCanns forget the media, it will eventually leave them alone – until there is a new lead in the story of Madeleine. They must leave the search for Madeleine with those employed by them.
Meanwhile the McCanns, for both public respect and their own sanity, need to start behaving like any other family who has endured bereavement or loss.

15 police blunders after Madeleine’s abduction
Months after Madeleine went missing, the police investigation into her disappearance still appears to be suffering from the “basic errors” made in first few hours.
1. Police were at the scene quickly but officers played down suggestions that Madeleine had been abducted and believed she had just wandered off. The crime scene in and around the hotel was not taped off, ruining prospects of obtaining vital forensic evidence.
2. There was a lack of specialist fingertip searching in streets around the hotel meaning more opportunities to find forensic evidence were lost. A former senior British detective working for the media called the scene “the worst preserved” he had witnessed in his career.
3. Officers failed to make early house-to-house inquiries when potential witnesses were still likely to be in the resort. Only on the Saturday, more than 48 hours later, did they start searching some local apartments and a full list of guests was obtained on Sunday. Staff at Mark Warner’s complex were only questioned 60 hours after Madeleine disappeared.
4. There were still people in the same apartment block as Mr and Mrs McCann who have never been questioned. Empty properties yards from where the child was taken have never been searched.
5. Police failed to inform Spanish border authorities of Madeleine’s disappearance until the morning after she was taken - giving the abductor the chance to flee the country.
6. CCTV on the main road out of Praia da Luz, going towards Spain, was not checked by police.
7. Early witness descriptions created confusion. At one stage there were six different E-fit images being shown to local people.
8 .On the morning of May 7, Gerry and Kate McCann issued a televised appeal direct to the abductor. Six hours later, a police chief said at a press conference: “We are not 100 per cent certain she was abducted.”
9. Detectives could not issue information on the investigation due to strict Portuguese laws on “judicial secrecy”. However the law includes two exceptions, both of which apply in the case of Madeleine.
10. It meant no direct appeal for help was made and police failed to give a clear description of Madeleine. There were no posters put up in the early days. It was left to Madeleine’s parents to describe what she as wearing on the night she disappeared.
11. An appeal for a suspect was finally issued 22 days after Madeleine went missing, together with a description. However police made another blunder by issuing two different height descriptions - the result of a mistranslation.
12. On May 9 the search was scaled down, searches were not very visible, helicopter not used much.
13. There was a delay in calling in specialists. Two British child abduction experts were flown in a week later, mobile phone tracker technicians who helped in the Soham investigation came weeks later.
14. Leaks have hampered the inquiry. On May 16, Portuguese newspapers reported that police were “on the trail” of a Russian friend of Robert Murat, the formal suspect in the case. He was only detained for questioning after he had been traced by journalists.
15. Madeleine’s favourite toy could have been a crucial key in tracking her down. She took it to bed with her every night including the night she was taken. The abductor could have left some trace of DNA evidence on it, but police did not check and Mrs McCann has had the pink soft toy with her ever since. One specialist said scientists would have needed to examine it for at least several days. He said: “Now it’s too late. It’s an absolute glaring error.”

Madeleine: Gordon Brown ’snubs request for No 10 meeing with McCanns’
Last updated at 11:14am on 9th December 2007
The parents of missing Madeleine McCann have demanded a high-level meeting with Gordon Brown amid fears the Government has abandoned their case, it emerged today.
Kate and Gerry reportedly made a desperate plea to the PM to arrange a private summit with their legal team and wealthy benefactors two weeks ago.
But the request is said to have been turned down by Number 10 who will only offer the McCanns a low-level consular meeting.

When GB offered sympathy etc he was Chancellor and not PM, and I think he was responding more as a parent than politician.
In every case of distressed Britons abroad the FO and diplomats are involved, not the politicians, and to expect help from politicians is somewhat mind boggling. If the McCanns feel any need for Govt help they do have their own MP to mediate on their behalf, who would pass their request to the HM Ambassador in Portugal.
This case is not political, or as yet proved to be criminal, MM is still ‘missing’ the why’s and wherefore’s to be ascertained.
