If our in-fighting is so bad how come one-off pure abuse is so admirable?

Karen, I don’t feel touched by what he said, because I don’t abuse anybody nor do I make some of the disgusting assumptions other posters do, therefore I don’t feel included in his comments.
If you read further on the other thread, one of the Mods also made a comment to him.
But, this is a public forum and if a one-off poster wants to make a comment, it’s upto you to take it or ignore it. I don’t think abuse is “admirable”.

I mean you’re a vile person.
You agree with someone who thinks we should rot in hell for posting on a forum even though we all have different ideas and opinions and have the guts to defend and explain them.
You’re glad someone had the nerve to be nasty - but it wasn’t you, was it. You quoted the post on your own forum expecting no one from our forum would see it. That’s sneaky. You’re a coward.

Karen,
I don’t think it is necessary to throw insults to any posters. Anybody can express their views and disagree with someone without the need to become so personal!
Garry Drinkwater is right in many ways. I don’t think he is against “freedom of speech” as such, but some posters on the other thread have some nasty comments about this case, make horrible assumptions, some of which are just disgusting, and make them to be seen as if they were absolutely a fact. The fact is, Karen, NONE OF THE POSTERS know the truth about this case.
I also believe he is correct in some of the things he said, but he went a bit over-board, I must admit.

Hi Daisy
Sorry in the delay to your request to read the now famous document, which I might add is still to be authenticated.
If you still want to see that document that Isla posted you can find it on… page 229. post 4580
And information on the alleged author Michael Shrimpton…page 230. post 4582

Thanks Mike!!!
I had read a shorter (edited) version of this document and was quite shocked when I read it. My concern is, if Mr. Shrimpton is a Barrister, and apparently has a very impressing Bio, then there could be some truth to it. But, on the other hand, we all have very firm beliefs in certain things, and we would put our points across in a very detailed way, if we were given the chance. In my humble opinion, if this document was NOT true (or at least to some degree) Mr. Shrimpton would have come forward to deny that this was a paper prepared by him. I’m sure someone has made him aware of its existence. Having said that, I also believe it could have been “embelished” , so to speak, to make it more “sensational”.
The fact is, that none of us (mere mortals) know for sure what goes on at high government intelligence levels and “who” is behind “what” in that arena.

It seems that Garry Drinkwater would deny freedom of expression, speech and would flog anyone who dares to disagree with him. We who are old enough to remember will think about war time dictators - and Jean apparently agrees with him…………an opinion is something which is unique to its owner, and nobody has a right to question ones opinion. In my opinion this whole sorry saga should, at this stage (8 months) be brought to court. IF the PJ have any justification to further suspect the McCanns or Robert Murat, then they should charge them and let the courts decide from the evidence presented to them whether they are guilty or innocent. I have my opinion, and I do think that the PJ have enough evidence to bring charges against the guilty party. In my opinion, the PJ are delaying to be ABSOLUTELY sure as this case has, due to the McCanns and their enterage, become high profile. In my opinion, there will be few surprises and once brought to court, the conclusion will be swift. I really do not think that there is any deep dark secrets, no macabre twists and turns. I think that once the shit hits the fan, the whole story will come pouring out

Melanie,
Garry Drinkwater is right in many ways. In other Anorak threads, the twisted things that are said about this case are absolutely disgusting. Also, the infighting is relentless and becomes very personal. I don’t believe he is against freedom of speech but he stated that some people are making accusations without knowing police files, etc. This is what he is against.

Another interesting article …..
POLICE hunting missing Madeleine McCann are probing claims that suspect Robert Murat hurriedly hired a car two days before he was arrested - despite already having two vehicles.
Hire firm worker Maria Rocio says Murat rang her on Saturday and asked to rent a Hyundai Getz for three days, insisting he needed it immediately and could not wait.
Maria added: “Robert said to me, ‘I need to rent a car for myself because the English people who are looking for the little girl need to borrow my car. They need to put information posters on it.’”
Maria said she told him she was about to shut for lunch - and he threatened to take his business elsewhere unless she let him pick up the car before she went. She said: “There was something about his voice, he was saying, ‘I need to have it quickly.’ His voice was impatient, I could tell from his voice that he needed it in a hurry.”

Hi Mike
Thanks to your information, I have just read the long and disturbing article that Isla posted. When I first read it I must have been tired and not taken it in. This time I managed to taken in and it did disturb me. However, as it has become public I do believe that this would have been investigated and if any truth in it they have found Madeleine now or at least made some arrests.
We all hope and pray that she is not anyone as dangerous as described in the document. I have just watched the Christmas appeal video, every time I watch Kate and Gerry I am so convinced they are parents so desperate to get their little girl back. I can not believe that it has taken so long. Someone somewhere knows something and in my eyes these people (even ones who are not involved but are holding back information) are not human to let a little defenseless child and her family go through this.
The more and more I think about it, the more I believe she is alive or at has been for a long time. It has taken so long, this has been so well planned and the sightings days afterwards (which I strongly believe some were for real) A group of people have wanted Madeleine for some reason and needed to get her somewhere in return for large price. I do not believe this is someone who has on the May 3rd, taken her, abused her and just disposed of her. There is a lot more to this.
I was also wondering if the PJ close the investigation, does that mean the private investigators can then go in and do their work in Portugal?

I discovered this website by chance and can only conclude from reading the feedback that you all seem to have more time on your hands than is good for you.
You are ALL the most repellent shocking utter scum I have had the misfortunate to come across. I earnestly hope that the New Year brings you ALL unhappiness and anguish on greater scale than that afflicting the McCann family at this time.
How inhuman can you be? Making amusement at the loss of a small child, the guilt the parents must feel for leaving this little girl alone must be tormenting. May you all rot in hell, it is a shame we live in such a democratic country with freedom of speech so readily available and utterly misused by morons like the contributors to this site if I had my way I would track each one of you down and have you flogged.

Just read this …. and it’s so true.
This story isn’t just a tear-jerker about an adorable little girl who got kidnapped. It’s a serious warning about how even some developed, Western nations operate their law enforcement in a way that greatly facilitates international child trafficking by pedophiles and illegal adoption procurers.

Madeleine suspect Murat tells police: ‘Charge me or clear me’
Last updated at 15:03pm on 2nd January 2008
Daily Mail 24 Hour News
Robert Murat has thrown down the gauntlet to police challenging them to charge him or clear him over the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
The challenge came as a legal deadline on the case loomed - tomorrow will mark eight months since the four-year-old vanished from her family’s holiday apartment in the Algarve on May 3.
Under new Portuguese laws, official suspects have to be charged after eight months unless public prosecutors apply for an extension.
Murat’s lawyer, Francisco Pagarete, said today it would be “cruel” of detectives to keep his client as a suspect any longer.
He said: “The truth is there are no grounds to maintain him as a suspect. It would be cruel if this situation was prolonged.”
If they fail to clear him, under Portuguese law, they must charge him or reveal what evidence they have against the 34-year-old father.
January 2nd, 2008 at 3:49 pm
Hi Daisy
Kate and Gerry McCann were made “arguido’s ” or formal suspects on Sept 7, more than four months after their daughter vanished from their holiday apartment in Portugal.
They were due to find out the details of the case against them on Jan 3rd, eight months after Madeleine’s disappearance. Under Portuguese law, detectives must at this stage lift secrecy restrictions.
But it is now widely believed that the public prosecutor will apply for an extension.
This would ensure that any further interview with the McCanns, both 39-year-old doctors from Rothley, Leics, could not be influenced by revelations about the case against them.
If the extension is granted, police would have another three months to work in secret, and may seek a further three-month extension.
That means the McCann’s could remain in the dark until next July.
Robert Murat was made an ” arguido ” on May 14th

That’s the problem. I don’t know if the 8 months deadline is based on the starting date of the investigation (which is what has been implied in some news reports) or if it is based on the day each one was made an “arguido”.
Well, I suppose we will know more tomorrow or the next day.

#5867 Daisy,
That’s interesting Daisy and would be a positive move if true. Must admit I haven’t read about this and have just checked on Sky and the BBC News website….unfortunately it’s probably more speculation and people making assumptions.
Jeannie, I’m sure the 8 months deadline is to do with the length of investigation rather than when a person was made an arguido…..hopefully someone can confirm this for us.
January 2nd, 2008 at 1:28 pm
Hi All,
Happy New Year!
Wasn’t RM made arguido on the 15th of May? So technically he’s 8 months is Jan.15th, right? So he should not be released yet.
January 2nd, 2008 at 12:39 pm
Thanks Kat and Kristie for the explanations. Nobody seems to talk about the McCanns’ arguido status regarding tomorrow, therefore I wasn’t sure what the situation was with regards to them.
Now, this might not be true, but I will post it anyhow. I have just read on another thread that RM has been taken into custody this morning for further questioning. Does anybody have any info / link in this regard?? Like I said, it might not be true!
January 2nd, 2008 at 12:32 pm
Hello all, and best wishes to each and every one of you for the New Year let’s hope 2008 brings good news regarding Madeleine and closure for everyone who is involved in the case.
#5863 Daisy
As the article from the Daily Mail and Daily Express explains “theoretically, Madeleine’s parents Kate and Gerry, the only other arguido’s should also be charged, released or told what evidence exists against them tomorrow”
From what I gather (and please correct me if I’m wrong) in Portugal the police have 8 months to conduct their investigation and gather evidence….when this time expires (in Madeleine’s case tomorrow the 3rd) they must either charge or release the arguido’s or tell them what evidence exists against them.
So in answer to your question this deadline DOES apply to both Murat and the McCann’s.
If what the media says is true and Murat is cleared of his arguido status then the Portuguese Police must have evidence or know for sure that his alibi is true – again to Joe Public this seems rather bizarre due to the fact that eight people swear to have seen him near the apartment the night Maddie disappeared????
Again IF what the media says is true and the Prosecutor has already granted an extension to the investigation to allow Kate and Gerry to remain Arguido’s we’ve got to wonder why? They must have something to go on otherwise they’d release everyone and close the case……?????
Mike, like you say how do we know we’ve got the full story….simply we don’t. For the last 8 months I believe we’ve been fed a load of cock and bull - from all sources……I hope this is true to be honest and that someone somewhere in the investigation does actually know more than what is being released to us.

Hi Everyone
How do we know that we have the whole story? How do we know that what has been reported is anything other than supposition and innuendo.?
From the first day that she went missing the only fact that we know for certain is that she is still out there somewhere, either dead or alive. Hopefully alive.
The Portuguese police can’t say due to their secrecy laws, the British police can’t say because it’s not their investigation, the McCann’s know things but can’t say anything because they are suspects. Metodo 3 can’t give out information now..So what is left now for any of us to talk about apart from speculating and guess work.
January 2nd, 2008 at 12:23 pm
Again a good point Daisy, but i think that it means from the start of the investigation -when poor Madeleine disappeared!

Murat set to be cleared tomorrow as investigation reaches crucial deadline
————-
One thing I don’t understand is, if RM is to be cleared/charged or else tomorrow Jan 3rd, because the 8 months deadline will have arrived, why aren’t the parents also in that defining situation on the same date? Murat was not made an arguido on May 3rd but later, therefore if Jan 3rd applies to the situation Murat is in, why doesn’t it apply to the parents?

Murat set to be cleared tomorrow as investigation reaches crucial deadline
Daily Mail 24 Hour News Last updated at
08:59am on 2nd January 200
Robert Murat, the first suspect named in the hunt for Madeleine McCann, could be cleared tomorrow as the police investigation reaches a crucial eight-month deadline.
Murat’s lawyer claimed last night that detectives now believe that the expat is innocent and are preparing to lift his arguido status tomorrow.
If they fail to clear him then, under Portuguese law, they must charge him or reveal what evidence they have against the 34-year-old father.
Murat was declared an official suspect on May 14 and he has claimed that his life has been destroyed by the false allegations.
He has always vehemently denied any involvement in Madeleine’s disappearance and has not had any contact with the Policia Judiciaria since August.
The father-of-one has been unable to work or even see his five-year-old daughter who lives with his ex-wife in Britain.
And Portugal’s strict secrecy laws mean that the former estate agent, who was born in Britain but brought up in Portugal, is not even allowed to discuss the case.
His lawyer Francisco Pagarette is hopeful police will use the eight-month deadline to announce their decision to drop the case against him.
Mr Pagarette said: “After eight months that is the end of the inquiry, so a suspect must be accused or advised of the suspicions against them.
“The public prosecutor either accuses him or they don’t. And that is what I am hoping will happen.”
He went on: “We have not had any communication from the police since August.
“Obviously they have already cleared Robert, it is just a question of the deadline.”
Madeleine’s parents Kate and Gerry, who are the only other arguidos, should theoretically also be charged, released or told what evidence exists against them tomorrow.
But it is believed the prosecutor has already granted an extension allowing a further period of secrecy for the investigation because of the “special complexity” of the case.
Detectives are also due to re-interview Kate and Gerry in Britain and do not want to make any decision about their status until that is complete.
Suggestions that Murat could soon be in the clear come just days after two new witnesses came forward contradicting his alibi for the evening of May 3.
A total of eight people now claim to have seen him near the McCanns’ apartment on the night that Madeleine vanished.
He has always denied leaving his villa that night and his mother has insisted he spent the entire evening indoors with her.
Murat told detectives he did not learn about Madeleine’s disappearance until the next morning, when he volunteered his services as a translator to police.
But three of the McCanns’ friends - Fiona Payne, Rachael Oldfield and Russell O’Brien - Ocean Club nanny Charlotte Pennington, fellow guest Jayne Jensen and three other unnamed holidaymakers insist they saw him hanging around on the night of May 3.
Meanwhile, Madeleine’s parents have said that they will continue looking for their daughter.
They are also trying to adopt a more normal routine - with Gerry going back to work full-time today as a hospital consultant.

Put up or shut up says Murat
From VERONICA LORRAINE
in Praia da Luz
Published: Today
MADELEINE McCann suspect Robert Murat will today challenge Portuguese cops to reveal what evidence they have against him – or clear him.
The one-eyed oddball was the first suspect, or arguido, in the hunt for the missing four-year-old.
In Portuguese law investigations are shrouded in secrecy.
But a recent change to the penal code means details have to be disclosed after eight months.
Missing … Maddie
Missing … Maddie
It is eight months tomorrow since Maddie vanished in the Algarve resort of Praia da Luz on May 3.
Ex-pat Brit Murat, 34, was back in the spotlight this week, after nine witnesses told cops that he was seen lurking near the McCanns’ apartment on the night Maddie went missing.
But his lawyer Francisco Pagarete told The Sun: “After eight months that is the end of the inquiry.
“He must be either accused or advised of the suspicions against him.
“If they postpone the deadline they will have to tell us why.
“The public prosecutor either accuses him or doesn’t. And that is what I am hoping will happen.
“We have not had any communications from the police since August. Obviously they have already cleared Robert, it is just a question of the deadline.”
Murat has always claimed he was at home with his mum Jenny, 71, when Maddie vanished – and she has backed up his story.
Mr Pagarete added: “The McCanns face the same deadline but I don’t know what is going to happen to them.”
Maddie’s parents Kate and Gerry, both 39, were also made arguidos, due to police suspicions they were involved in her disappearance.
McCann spokesman Clarence Mitchell confirmed yesterday that the couple were aware of the January 3 deadline.
But they fear Portugal’s public prosecutor will apply for a three-month postponement in their case, citing “special complexities”.
Ready
That means it could be April 3 – nearly a year after their daughter disappeared – before they see the evidence, and attempt to end their arguido status.
Mr Mitchell said: “Kate, Gerry and their friends remain ready and willing to talk to the police.
“In the meantime our lawyers will continue to press for access to the police files, and to push for the arguido status to be lifted.
“They feel it is a huge distraction. While police are looking at them they are not searching for Madeleine.
“As we go into 2008, they will be regrouping, with renewed energies, and focusing on the campaign.”
Gerry McCann, of Rothley Leics, will return full time to his £75,000-a-year job as a hospital consultant cardiologist from tomorrow.
He has been working three days a week since November.

Happy New Year to you all. Hope you all had a good one!
Wonder what the new lead in Morocco is? Although I am wondering I am also glad they are not saying. I really do not know what to think of M3 after them leading us to believe they would find Madeleine by Christmas, but then did they just say they hope she would be home by Christmas or was it a promise? If it was a hope, it is only just a week later.
With RM being back in the press again it has reminded me of the DNA reported to have been found in his house, does anyone know what came about this?
Hi Anthony, you mentioned January 3rd, why is this date relevant? Is this when the case was supposed to be closed? Hope not, does not leave much time, there again the PJ have not done much to help anyway!!
It is so heartbreaking that Madeleine was not home for Christmas. However, I pray that 2008 is a good year for the McCann family and that they will be spending it with Madeleine.

Hi Maggie
I’ve had the same trouble, had to get the dictionary out to understand the comment made to me!!! I’ve now vowed to ignore rather than acknowledge. That way I won’t get into an argument and end up getting my ‘knickers in a twist’. I still think this is the best forum to be on with regard to concern for Madeleine, and will continue to post for as long as it takes to find her, or find out what has happened to her.
Best wishes everyone for 2008 - let’s hope this is the year we all get to ‘meet’ Madeleine.
