Madeleine McCann Not In Malta Or Morocco
FROM Paulo Reis in Portugal:
Portuguese CID spokesman, about Madeleine abduction: “The clue to this mistery is in Praia da Luz”
Portuguese authorities have dismissed as groundless all leads on sightings of Madeleine McCann in other countries rather than Portugal, namely in Morroco and Malta, said Polícia Judiciária (PJ), Portuguese CID, spokesman Olegário de Sousa (…) Further investigations are being carried out centered mainly on the area of Praia da Luz itself, said Mr. Olegário de Sousa. «The clue to this mistery is in Praia da Luz», according to other police source quoted by Diário de Notícias. Note: Kate and Gerry McCann are innocent.

Hi everyone.
What are the police waiting for? If the police have enough evidence to charge them why don’t they? As sure as the PJ are that they have enough evidence, Clarence Mitchell seems as sure that Kate and Gerry can prove their innocence!
I really don’t know what to make of this film issue!
On one hand I think Madeleine’s family should do anything they can to help find her. On the other hand, (some one mentioned that there is a division between the people who people support them and the people who don’t). Judging by the comments from the report I think it will tip the scales against them. However, does people’s opinion matter against finding their daughter. I don’t know if it is the right decision or not, but if it was me I put aside what people think of me if it was to help in finding her. They should just do what they feel is right in the search for Madeleine. They have always pledged that they will never give up, and so they shouldn’t!

Mods and Admin, re 6006. Couldnt agree with you more.
January 8th, 2008 at 10:28 pm
6002 Mods and Admin, just curious why you put in that Isla had left because of family circumstances, her own, not the McCanns? I just wondered why you added the McCanns, as if they could even be a reason why Isla may have left? Its late, so maybe i am reading this totally wrong, lol

6004 SwissMiss, hasn’t been proven as yet that Madeleine has been abducted. So I’m not sure i would want to contact a family, where the parents are suspects in their daughters disappearance.

Hey Lauren:
I should have also stated and any other missing children…………. - sorry..!!!! -
I guess I wrote that because in the Nathalee Holloway case in Aruba, which case was also a lot in the media… at least in our area, the father of JonBenet Ramsey had contacted Nathalee’s mother in help with the search…. -
but I should have put also other missing children…. -
January 8th, 2008 at 7:34 pm
5993 SwissMiss, The McCanns are not the only parents to have a missing child. They might be the most famous. So why would this family be singling them out to contact?

Hi u lot of sleuthers!!
Where have all the original posters gone from this thread? eg Annie, Kirstie and Isla? have they decided to leave the sinking the ship? and others that were here for along time. Is it that things have gotten too hot for them now or what?

Murat’s girlfriend ‘is Madeleine McCann suspect’

Robert Murat’s girlfriend has allegedly been named as an official suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

It has yet to be confirmed by the Portuguese, so I have inserted allegedly for the time being.
Even if it is reported elsewhere , and is unconfirmed we are still at risk from libel as it could harm her reputation

Hey Anthony:
Here you go again.. what do you mean the mcs know what they did to Maddie??????? Can you please clarify?thx…..
to swiss miss,by now the mccanns and their investagators have dug up enough to know what happened to their child, all those people they hired have dug up stuff for them,i am not privy to that info but i know that they have it,heres hoping that they move on it soon,
as for the mods here, they are doing nothing to stop others here messing up posts and slagging people off while they put up no posts of any use so leave some people alone and do not attempt to put down any of us as we have been at this for a long time and please do not reply to this as i have better things to talk about.

To all users in the Malta and Morocco thread
We have had to pull another libellous post from you in here, and there is another being considered for pulling.
You were all informed some weeks ago that the server had been moved to the UK and everyone on the site was advised to be very careful of the libel risk to Anorak. Sadly none of you seem to regard this serious threat to us with any respect, and the only libellous posts have been in this thread.
This matter will be brought to Admins attention and they will get back to you in due course, meantime you will be heavily moderated, and any further dangerous libel risks pulled.

Karen,
I’m in Edinburgh so not so far away!
I’m not sure, but i think the country/world even are divided about RM and the McC’s and i think he stands to make a fortune should he choose to speak out if he’s ever in the position to do so. He will need a shark to tell him the best way to maximise his payouts from all of the media organisations. I hope Max Clifford has the good grace not to get involved in this one, he knows how the public feel about him doing so….but again there will be huge sums on offer so he will have plenty of people offering their advice, at a price of coarse!
Not sure what to make of Michaela being made an arguida. The worlds press would’ve jumped on this if it were true?

I saw ’stalker’ by Maddy apartment
A second British tourist has reported seeing a mystery man hanging around Madeleine McCann’s holiday flat just days before she vanished.
Gail Cooper, 50, said she was confronted by the “creepy” stranger at her holiday villa in Portugal.
He claimed he was collecting for an orphanage in the next village of Espiche.
She spotted him again two days later on Praia Da Luz beach. Gail, from Newark, Notts, said yesterday: “He was a horrible-looking man, really creepy, unkempt and dirty.
“He definitely wasn’t Portuguese. He scared me.”
Gail’s sighting came after the Mirror revealed yesterday that tourist Paul Gordon also spotted a mystery stalker skulking around the holiday complex. Brewery executive Paul confronted the man and was told the same story about the orphanage.
Gail reported the man to police after she arrived home and read about Madeleine’s disappearance.
They took a statement from her but Gail added: “I didn’t hear anything back, but I’m so sure this man had something to do with Madeleine’s disappearance.”
Last night, the McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell said both reports were being investigated.

Murat’s girlfriend ‘is Madeleine McCann suspect’
Last Updated: 6:34am GMT 08/01/2008
Daily Mail 24 Hour News
Robert Murat’s girlfriend has been named as an official suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
The Portuguese newspaper 24 Horas reported that Michaela Walczuch, 32, was made an arguida after a witness claimed to have seen her with a small girl two days after four-year-old Madeleine went missing last May.
A spokesman for the Portuguese police said yesterday that she had “no information” about Miss Walczuch being made an official suspect.
Murat was the first person to be named an official suspect in May. At the same time, police interviewed Miss Walczuch and her former husband, Luis Antonio.
She has always vigorously denied being involved in Madeleine’s disappearance and said last year: “I feel very sad to see my name involved in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. These reports are ridiculous.”

Hi everyone:
I have to share with you that Ben Ownby’s parents were on a live interview on the “Today’s Show” in New York this morning. He was the other boy who was kidnapped at the time of Shawn and living w/ the same awful guy. Ben wasn’t part of the interview but he came out later for 10 secs. SOmeone here had posted awhile back how kids would be after they were found.. he seemed to be ok from what the parents had said. He seemed a little shy though and not very talkative… - the parents said that they are now trying to help other missing kids families in their search. I’m wondering if they’ve contacted the Mcs……. -

I’m Scottish too, I’m in Renfrewshire.
I don’t think Murat will sue. He might make money selling his story - but I don’t think the public like him, so he wont make much.

I’m glad you did Kat, i had seen the headline, just couldn’t access it!! Thanks!
Karen, Do you really think it possible the lawyer would’ve represented RM on a no win no fee basis? i seriously doubt it. They are not going for compensation (well, that i know of) where this type of claim is usually on a no win no fee basis. The costs would be astronomical for court cases, all legal representation etc so i don’t think a solicitor would fund such a case (IF he ever went to trial that is) even if RM was found innocent??
Maybe he won’t sue anyone if he is cleared of any involvment but i can bet my bottom dollar the pound signs will be flashing before his eyes when and if he finally can talk! That will totally scunner (scottish= sicken) me. It is afterall the life of a child here.
I have no idea if the McC’s will have a book written or film made and i too feel uneasy about that- it just doesn’t seem right somehow! There is no conclusion so how could they possibly?

Daily Mail 24 Hours:
Blood found in McCanns’ hire car ‘DID come from Madeleine’
Last updated at 10:00am on 8th January 2008
Traces of blood found in Gerry and Kate McCanns’ hire car and holiday flat DID belong to Madeleine, it has been claimed. It reflects detectives’ belief that she is dead and her parents disposed of her body.
Tests carried out at a UK laboratory confirmed beyond doubt that the blood was that of the toddler, a Portuguese newspaper reported. The McCanns have always insisted there were innocent explanations for the traces found behind the sofa at the Ocean club apartment in Praia da Luz and in the boot of the Renault Scenic they hired there 25 days after Madeleine vanished on May 3.
They have had independent DNA tests on the car which they say revealed no trace of Madeleine and are understood to be distressed by the reports which they categorically deny.
They claim that the DNA could be linked to Madeleine’s siblings, two-year-old twins Sean and Amelie.
But the respected Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha reported yesterday: “The definitive result of the tests leave no doubts for the Policia Judiciaria.
“The blood found in the McCanns’ car is that of Madeleine as well as those samples detected in the flat.”
Detectives in Portugal asked British scientists to carry out new tests after initial ones by the Forensic Science Service laboratory in Birmingham proved inconclusive.
It is understood that they are using a new technique called low copy number analysis, which allows them to find a genetic fingerprint from a tiny sample.
The samples from the flat and the hire car were said to be damaged and of low quality, but police sources now claim the latest results are definitive.
Portuguese detectives plan to travel to Britain in the coming weeks to reinterview the McCanns and the friends they were dining with at a tapas restaurant on the night Madeleine vanished.
Yesterday Dr Russell O’Brien and his partner Jane Tanner were named as the two friends reported last year to have told police they wanted to change their account of that evening.
Ms Tanner, 37, from Exeter, says she saw a mystery man carrying a child away from the flat at 9.15pm on the night Madeleine vanished.
Police were said to believe Dr O’Brien, 36, wanted to change his statement to claim he also saw the man, newspaper 24 Horas reported.
But staff at the restaurant say Ms Tanner was at the table througout the meal and only left after Kate came running in shouting, “They’ve taken her”, the newspaper reported.
Dr O’Brien and Ms Tanner have denied contacting police to change their stories and sources close to the McCanns support that posistion.
Portuguese police believe Madeleine died in an accident and that Kate and Gerry conspired with their friends to dispose of the body.
Police sources claim the couple could be charged with manslaughter as well as hiding a body and wasting police time.
Kate and Gerry deny involvement in their daughter’s disappearance.
They have had independent DNA tests on the car which they say revealed no trace of Madeleine.
Last night, their spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “These reports are very distressing for Kate and Gerry - they are depressed that again wild rumour and speculation is being presented as fact.
“We wish Portuguese police would just get on with their investigation, come over to England and carry out the interviews with Kate and Gerry and their friends. All those interviews will prove, yet again, that Kate and Gerry have nothing to hide.
“As for the supposed DNA testing, we cannot comment on yet more unsubstantiated rampant speculation in the Portuguese press.
“It is ridiculous to suggest that Madeleine’s blood was in the their car because she was never in it.
“It was hired more than 20 days after she went missing, which means it was impossible for her to have ever been in it.
“Kate and Gerry were in no way involved in her death. Nor were they involved in disposing of her body.
“To suggest otherwise is ridiculous. This report is flying in the face of all other articles which reported that the DNA and forensic tests were inconclusive.
“If there had been anything found, I would have thought there would have been more urgent activity on behalf of the Portuguese police than there has been.
“We have been waiting months now for them to come to England to carry out their re-interviewing.
“Anything the police feel may give them cause for concern can be wholly and innocently explained.
“But until we actually see the official FSS report, we have no idea what it contains, and I suggest the Portuguese press don’t either.”

Okay okay I said I’ll refrain from pasting but thought I’d have one more go lol….
January 8th, 2008 at 11:29 am
Sorry I seem to have pasted identical paragraphs ! I think I’ll refrain from copying and pasting articles from now on lol…;)
My initial thoughts on this are :
“What the hell are the thinking? I think trying to raise money to fund the search for Madeleine is great however I don’t think a movie is the answer. Poor Madeleine is still missing and nobody knows what has happened, so to do a movie in my opinion is in bad taste.
I do appreciate the fact that Kate and Gerry have to do everything possible to keep the search going for Maddie and I know it costs lots of money and yes a film or book is a good way of raising awareness and providing necessary funds….so why is it making me feel a tad uneasy ????? Probably because they are still the main suspects in the case and could be involved in her disappearance !
January 8th, 2008 at 11:24 am
Kirstie
Either a lawyer has agreed to represent Murat on a ‘no win no fee’ basis or he was only saying it to show how angry and innocent he is (and wont sue anyone).
Kat
Reaction to the idea of a film isn’t good from the public (going by the comments boxes) - I don’t think any film will be made. Also Esther McVey has resigned from Team McCann, so there must be trouble behind the scenes (probably over M3 and their ridiculous press releases - Madeleine will be back by Christmas etc).

Madeleine the movie: McCanns in talks over missing daughter’s story
Last updated at 10:24am on 8th January 2008

The McCanns are set to turn the story of their daughter into a film.
Kate and Gerry are in negotiations with the world’s largest talent and entertainment agency, IMG, in a deal which could be worth millions.
The money would help fund the search for Madeleine amid fears that the £1.2 million raised from public donations will soon run out.
A source close to the McCanns said: “We would only get involved with something done sensitively and considerately.”
If a deal is done with IMG, it would involve using the same team that made Touching The Void, an award-winning drama-documentary about the fight for survival of two British climbers lost on a mountain.
The couple are also considering a book deal and selling interviews to television broadcasters with all proceeds going to the Madeleine Fund, the body set up to finance the search for the girl.
Madeleine was six days short of her fourth birthday when she vanished from her bed in the family’s holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in Portugal on May 3.
The film project will be discussed at a meeting of the fund’s directors, including Gerry, tomorrow night at the McCanns’ home in Rothley, Leicestershire.
The Madeleine Fund is committed to spending £50,000 a month on a Spanish private detective agency. It is also paying for a poster and television advertising campaign in Spain, Portugal and Morocco, where there have been several alleged sightings.
Estimates suggest at least £500,000 has already been spent.
A source close to the McCann family said: “Donations from the public are still coming in but to sustain the fund properly, we will need larger amounts.
“If the media are prepared to make donations, we will take the money. There are a few propositions out there.
“We have had a couple of large companies involved in the film industry approach us about a long-term deal. IMG and the production company behind Touching The Void have approached Kate and Gerry. They have sent them a tape to watch to see the sort of film they make. We have only had a preliminary discussion.”

Well there you go then Jean - The McCanns negligent attitude to taking proper care of their kids cobbles it up for future guests
*****
Good morning all, sorry Melanie can you just explain your post, have you read somewhere that the reason Mark Warner have stopped providing ‘Baby Listening’ is because of the McCanns negligence ?
If I was a director at MW I would see it as an ideal opportunity to promote and improve the service…..otherwise what statement are Mark Warner giving to their guests and others ?
1 - Their staff can’t be trusted ?
2 - The service is inadequate ?
3 - There are members of the public that could easily abduct a child ?
I wonder if there’s any logic behind your sweeping statement or whether it’s purely to have a dig at Jean….again !
January 8th, 2008 at 8:50 am
Melanie- at least they are seen to be doing something about their atrocious ‘babysitting service’ - and yes, the McCanns idea of babysitting is far worse- but at least they seem to realise they fell way short themselves.
Steph, i will try to answer your question again (wouldn’t let me post yesterday!) there was a a televised interview with jenny Murat with RM sitting in (but not speaking) she said the family are close to bankruptcy and her savings were nearly gone….how he can’t work if GM can i don’t know- and i do understand that hiring lawyers is expensive but come on….
at the time i had rather cynically wondered if this was more of a ploy to gain the sympathy of some millionaire who might back them financially bearing in mind it was only a day or two earlier we had heard that millionaires Brian Kennedy and Richard Branson were offering not only monetary support but also legal advisors….suspicious of me i know and maybe JM isn’t the coniving type atall….or is she???

Mark Warner no longer offer room listening.
We introduced supervised evening care in JUNE 2007 at our summer resorts, and this and room listening were operated together until the end of October. Since 2 December 2007 when the first of our winter ski hotels opened up, there has been no room listening and none is offered for summer 2008.

Here is where i have another eyebrow raising moment….unless Portugal have the equivelent to legal aid how on earth does RM propose to pay for legal services to sue the Police if he is, as his mother said (heard that with my own ears) and his family close to bankruptcy?????????? Have they had financial support from some other millionaire or am i just missing something here?

Madeleine police deny Robert Murat’s girlfriend is a suspect
Last updated at 11:39am on 7th January 2008
Daily Mail 24 hour news
A claim that the lover of Madeleine McCann suspect Robert Murat had herself been made a suspect in the case was denied today.
Tabloid 24 Horas reported that Michaela Walczuch was named an arguida - or official suspect - in November and that her alibi is still being investigated by Portuguese detectives.
But today Portuguese police officials denied the story and Mr Murat’s lawyer Francisco Pagarete said only his client was an official suspect in the case.
Briton Mr Murat, 34, became the first official suspect in Madeleine’s disappearance in May and has remained a suspect since.
The girl’s parents Kate and Gerry, both 39, from Rothley in Leicestershire, were named suspects in September over the child’s disappearance from their holiday flat in Praia da Luz in the Algarve last May.
Their friends accuse Mr Murat of lying over his whereabouts on the night she vanished.
It had been claimed that Ms Walczuch, a 31-year-old German, gave evidence as a witness in November.
However, the 24 Horas newspaper said that shortly after she began giving her statement her status was changed.
Mr Pagarete, who has spoken on behalf of Ms Walczuch, told 24 Horas: “In the eyes of public opinion, they both became arguidos in a crime they did not commit. Neither of them is free of suspicion, with all the material and psychological damage that a dramatic situation like this implies. Somebody will have to pay for this.”
Mr Pagarete added that Mr Murat will sue the Portuguese and British authorities. Madeleine was three years old when she vanished.
