I moved from London to the North East (Sunderland) with my wife & 2 kids 8 months ago. My reasons were quite simply: London & most other Southern towns & Citys are now overun by Asylum seekers, many of these Asylum seekers are criminals and we were ourselves victims of Asylum crime. The London I grew up In no longer exists and Sunderland reminds me of the old London where people stood up for themselves and their rights, Southerner's unfortunatley do not have the bottle anymore to face the real issues of life down there. As for Bristol heading this list of cities......well say no more!

Come on, the North East is a dumping ground for nasty industry. Their are "mint" Baltic winds coming from the North.(for any geographically challenged inhabitants) Who in their right mind would want to live there?

I'm not disrespecting the people, they are as friendly as you like.. but Question:
Why do Geordie blokes never wear coats? Can they not afford them, or does it just make them appear "gay"?

No. I've looked at this story from all angles and my conclusion is:

Jimmy's a Mackum (Sunderland person to the wider audience)

Surely, the data colleated to publish such a report was collected at least a year or ago?

The last year in both Sunderland & Newcastle has seen further and faster regeneration, investment and forward-thinking.

Confidence has boosted (in particular) on the banks of the Wear, following the prmotion back to top-light football of Sunderland AFC.

That a city should be boosted by the fickle world of football raises questions in itself, but it all just goes to show that we have, "Lies, damn lies & statistics"

"The report did not say anything about the performance of Sam Allardyce's Magpies or the region's other Premier football teams though ...."

Ah, but the Magpies have such a huge following. In fact, the performances of the NUFC teams over the last fifty years have inspired a leading designer to produce the "Newcastle United Bra". It has loads of support but no cups.

How much of your time have the government wasted researching this inaccurate data? Ask anyone from the North East and you will find they would never swap their heartland for the smog of London. Sunderland, Newcastle and Durham are three cities that contain everything you want in a modern European city of culture. Believe me, the North East is very much alive and kicking. I live in London and have visited the North East on several occasions and truly believe it is the jewel in the British Crown
