Charley Uchea On Big Brother Niggers And White Trash
CHARLEY Uchea has the Big Brother staff where she wants them.
Cowed and beaten, they refuse to evict her. Charley wants to stay in the house and Endemol wants what Charley wants.
This week there will be an eviction. Instead, viewers will vote for which housemate they want out and then see them parachuted back in.
This is challenging TV, says Big Brother. This is TV for the challenged, say viewers. You spend money getting one of them out and then watch that housemate go back in. And your money spent on the phone call goes where?
This is billed as a clever ploy to stir things up. The evicted housemate will be shown who voted for them. They will become embroiled in rage. But Samanda doesn’t do rage, nor do Tracey, Liam, Brian, Ziggy or Carole. Nicky grumbles loudly. Chanelle whines. But they don’t really rage. Only one housemate goes berserk. Only one housemate finds confrontation normal: Charley.
So you vote Charley out. And in again. “Next week it has to be her,” says Gerry, which is surely discussing nominations.
Which means he should be banned from nominating. Like Charley, who in revealing her meeting with a Chelsea footballer, says: “Easy nigger.”
Yes Chanel 4, Charley used the N-word as a black woman to refer to another black person. Big Brother called her to the Diary Room to remind her that this word could cause offence.”
But, apparently, not if you are black and the person calling you a nigger is of the same skin tones. “We judged her use of the term different from Emily’s.”
Which makes us wonder why Jermaine Jackson was not judged for calling the Goody clan “white trash” in the last Celebrity Big Brother? (”I did not call Jade Goody white trash. The white trash statement came from Dirk Benedict,” said Jackson’s statement, although we heard him say it.)
One possible answer could be that Big Brother makes it up as it goes along. And so long as Charley stays in, anything goes…

“When a black person hears this word being said they hear ‘white mans slave’.” This is actually an incredibly offensive statement to make. You can’t say how an entire race of people interpret a certain word because in doing so you are making a judgment about them based on there race. This in itself is a form of racism.
The big problem for me is BB’s choice to punish Emily for using the word without then subsequently making it clear in which context it can be said because they obviously allow a black person to say “nigger” in the context of quoting themselves in the past tense but not a white person mimicking colloquial speech in the present tense. Regardless of whether this is right or wrong Channel 4 or, more appropriately, whoever regulates this kind of thing should make that position clear so that people can understand what is acceptable and what isn’t.

It is wrong to use the word either way.
But the fact is,Emily actually used the term at someone directly, but Charley used it indirectly to describe something she’d said,so their is quite a big difference in the way it was used.
Not that i would of objected to Charley getting the boot, shes a disgusting person.

The word nigger is a 400 hundred year old word that was used by slave traders towards slaves. When a black person hears this word being said they hear ‘white mans slave’. This is why it is not acceptable for white people to use this word.

The only ones guilty of true racism are Channel 4, treating a black woman in a more favourable way than a white woman. Why wasn’t Charley’s use of the N word shown in the highlights? When Emily was evicted, she said she was just using “street talk”. Loads of people came out and said “oh no, that word isn’t used between black people in conversation, if you understood the history of the word blah blah…”. Then Charley uses it, in a way justifying Emily’s (all be it misguided but not racist) usage of the word.
Yes, on Celebrity Big Brother Jade was a right cow. Her mother was definately racist refusing to pronounce Shilpa’s name properly. But Emily? I think she is a young girl who has been dealt an extremely poor hand and I wish her every success in her complaint against Channel 4.

Let’s be honest, without Charley in the house it would be BORING. There are no real characters in the house, she’s entertaining and that’s why a lot of us watch the show in the first place. Sorry to bust a lot of your bubbles, but a lot of people would turn off when she goes.
If I want boring I’d watch BBC 1 & 2.

No..you heard him say -
“It’s not something I would ever say..as she is a person..but others have used the term white trash”…
…which both Dirk Benedict and Leo Sayer had used about the Goody clan on the live feed …comparing the Goody clan to Jerry Springer guests..but it didn’t make the highlights. Jermaine then repeated what they had said.
Lets not keep repeating a lie to justify the racism of others.

I think Mary talks a lot of rubbish. If people are black they call each other nigga. The reason why White trash isn’t punished as much as the word nigga is because you never had any white people slaving in the fields being called white thrash.

no one should call people the n word, just because she is of the same colour doesn’t give her the right to use it, she is no better than emily for saying it, but then again charlie is above the big brother it would seem and she knows it, all she does is flaunt herself pose in the mirrors and argue with everyone how is that entertainment? she should be kicked out just like emily

Not so much a case of white people being more tolerant, as less likely to kick up a massive fuss if they think they’ve been victim of injustice. By leaving the moose Charley in they’ve just exposed there own double standards.

Mary’s right. BB turns a blind eye on the black/white thing. They’re afraid of offending black people but don’t mind offending whites. Now why is that, I wonder? Could it be that white people are more tolorent?

Just what is the difference between Charlie or Emily saying the N word? if a word is offensive then its offensive to all. No matter who says it. Its discrimination to say only black people can call other black people that awful word. If they can, then why cant we? not that Id want to. Its wrong of them to discriminate. Emily and Charlie should have been punished equally.my brother in law is black and Id not call him that, not even in jest. Be seen to be fair BB.
