Chris Benoit: Wrestling. Murder. Suicide.
The case of Chris Benoit sounds like the working title for a new computer game. “WHY CHRIS BENOIT SNAPPED,” says the Enquirer’s front page, “…then killed wife, son and self.”
And reads like the plotline for a daytime TV drama.
Before we go on, let us say this is real life. Not too long ago, Mr McMahon, chairman of the wrestling board, lost a bet with Donald Trump (he had his head shaved) and was blown up in his limousine by shadowy forces, a crime caught on camera.
Benoit’s case is no less genuine.
The Enquirer says the investigation into the crime “rips the lid off Benoit’s secret life”, something that might have occurred when his body and that of his seven-year-old son and wife were fond in the family domicile.
But the Enquirer is on it. It talks of his “steroid-ravaged body, sputtering career, stormy marriage and mentally challenged son”.
We do not wish to dwell on the horrors that occurred in Benoit ‘s Montreal home. We leave that to the Enquirer, which stops just seeing Benoit bounce off the ropes and deliver an atomic bomb back body drop into wife Nancy, a former WWE corner girl, before grabbing the emcee’s microphone and declaring war on Iran.
Readers learn of “roid rage”, the condition in which anabolic steroid users get increasingly upset at having a head narrower then their neck.
And how this is a “horrible event that’s happened”…

If Chris Benoit was’nt famous, whould all of you still have the same thing to say about him. No one in the world would ever know what happened in that home that weekend.
Everyone can speculate till their blue in the face. Stop putting all the blame on Chris Benoit, what about his wife? Has any of u ever stopped to think what part in this sad story she played. Has any one thought of what she could have done or said to Chris, that made him snap???
Benoit, his wife and beautiful son is dead, leave them alone and let them rest in peace for heaven’s sake!!!!
We were’nt put on this earth to judge other people and their actions, only God can judge us.
Chris Benoit were, is and will always be one of the greatest wrestlers that lived.

I believe Mark HENERY killed Benoit family, I heard that the Benoit’s invited Henry around for BBQ ribs and Henry ate the whole lot and went mental when they ran out of crab paste.

I’m sorry but I cannot and willnot believe that chris benoit killed his wife or his son or his self. I really believe that it was someone that both he and his wife knew, maybe even another wrestler

Its unfortunate that people really care less for each other…..Chris Benoit was a good wrestler…..he probably has gone through lot of troubles in his life. But, he has given the WWE fans a lot of emotional memories…..
I don’t know what the investigating team has taken as a cognizable evidence for them to state the incident as a homicide. But, i’m damn sure that the pieces of this jigsaw puzzle aren’t sitting well.
We humans always have a tendency to react very impulsively without trying to comprehend the “ACTUAL”. Everyone have their own opinions regarding everything. Whatever has happened to the Benoit family doesn’t really bother anyone outside their family’s circle. But, we still end up saying things we shouldn’t about the Chris and ‘what he allegedly did to his family’. Does ‘anyone’ has any concrete evidence that Chris killed his wife and son before killing himself…..? If no,Then what qualifies ‘anyone’ to be judgemental…..?
What has happened to Chris and his family is despicable and sad. And no matter what will be concluded after the investigation one thing will always remain true,”CHRIS BENOIT WAS A GOOD ENTERTAINER…. “

Some things in life just are. The sun comes up in the east, and sets in the west. Gravity causes what goes up to eventually come down. Two plus two will forever equal four. Right?
Maybe that’s what’s bothering me about the Chris Benoit case. The facts of the case that have been released don’t add up. June 25, at around 7 PM, I went online during the RAW tribute. Every web site on yahoo news was reporting the deaths as homicide. The next morning, I logged on at around 7 AM. The story had changed to a murder/suicide. In the space of twelve hours, before the autopsies were even complete, it was determined to be a murder/suicide. No interviews with friends or family. No investigating who, if anyone, was around the Benoit home at the time these horrendous crimes took place. Even before the time of death was established by the coroner, a timeline for the murders was in place.
According to the Fayetteville Police, Nancy Benoit dies of strangulation on Friday June 22. He then suffocated his son on Saturday, June 23. Then he laid bibles beside their beds before hanging himself with a weight pulley. Keep in mind, these are the preliminary reports.
Nancy Benoit was found with her hands and feet tied, and bruises on her back and stomach. Chris allegedly strangled her with a cord from behind, while kneeling in her back. Chris Benoit stood five feet, ten inches. He weighed in at 218 pounds. Significantly larger than she was. Why tie her down? That’s a lot of effort for no apparent reason. Most people in a rage would simply beat someone to death. To go through the effort of tying her, kneeling on her back, and choking her with a cord goes directly against the unfounded rage theory that detectives are apparently going to stick to. She was found with blood pooled in the back of her head. Again, what reason? Are we to believe that, after he choked her, he turned her over, and bashed her head into the floor twenty or thirty times for good measure. After that, am I to assume that he kicked her repeatedly in the stomach too? You know, just for fun? Come on. Common sense has to kick in somewhere.
The most tragic, and the most confusing for me, is Daniel. This is a handicapped seven year old little boy. He had not even begun his short life when he was taken. According to police, Chris Benoit locked his son in the “crippler cross face,” his extremely painful finishing move. Anyone that has seen this move knows that’s not possible or likely. He would have to lock his legs around the boy’s arm to lock it in. Unless he just used the cross face. In which case, it would have caused at least some bruising to apply that kind of pressure. The police reported no external bruising. The sad part is, this boy adored his father, and it was mutual, as reported by EVERYONE that knew the Benoit family, both professionally and personally. Even their family doctor can’t believe that Chris would do this. And, frankly, neither can I.
Chris Benoit died by hanging himself on a weight cord attached to two hundred and forty pounds. Quite a feat, by any stretch of the imagination. He had to hoist 240 pound of dead weight up by a single cord. After all, according to the police, he had taken off the bar, leaving just the cord. While holding these weights with one hand, he places a towel around his neck, ties the cord around his neck and towel. He then lets go, and hangs himself. If we are to believe what the police have reported, the scenario would have to play out like that. I knew wrestlers were dexterous, but he’d need to be a contortionist to pull that one off. In addition, if anyone was trying to kill themselves, why put the towel around his neck? After all, I’m about to die. Is it really going to bother me that much to have cord burns on my neck? Again, someone, ANYONE, please jump in with some common sense here.
Then there are the oddities of the case. Two bibles were set next to Nancy and Daniel. Several beer bottles were found in the garbage. A bottle of wine was found in front of Chris Benoit’s body. Just wondering, did ANYONE bother to test these items for fingerprints? I’m not a police officer, and even I would think to test them.
Then there’s the Wikpedia entry. Someone posted on the Chris Benoit page that Nancy died some 14 hours before the police discovered the bodies. That, to me, is one heck of a coincidence. These were the comments made by the Lieutenant apparently handling the case.
“It is unbelievable what a hindrance this has put on our investigation,” Lt. Tommy Pope of Fayette County Sheriff’s Department told ABC News
I would like to think that, as a police officer, Lt. Tommy Pope would be more interested in pursuing the truth than building a case against a dead man. Apparently, that’s only wishful thinking. Lt. Pope is convinced that Chris Benoit is guilty, and nothing is going to change his mind. The same is true for the district attorney in this case, Scott Ballard.
The fast food like way the Fayetteville Police department has handled this is ridiculous. Step back a moment, and imagine the police coming to your door. Imagine them presenting you with these facts, and telling you that your family member did this. Would you accept it? I think not. I do believe that it is neither stupidity nor incompetence that has forced the expedition of this case. I believe it’s necessity. Crimes are committed everyday. If it appears to be a murder suicide, it’s a logical jump to make it a murder suicide. After all, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. But to stick to that story, despite a mountain of evidence against it, is ridiculous and dangerously negligent.
In case anyone was wondering, I watched wrestling as a teenager. That’s the reason I knew the name vaguely. As an adult, I don’t have time or interest to keep up with the wrestling world much, other than the recaps I get from my father, who never misses an episode. I could care less if Chris Benoit’s name gets cleared. Even when I watched wrestling, I wasn’t a fan of his. I was a Hulkamaniac and an Undertaker fan. In the past twenty one years, I’ve watched two Raws. The memorial for Eddie Guerrero and the memorial for Chris Benoit. I’m not a wrestling fan that can’t handle the death of an icon in the business. I am not a conspiracy theorist that sees a conspiracy on every corner. I am, however, a woman that will soon be a mother. And the thought of someone getting away with this heinous act, and being able to do it to someone else horrifies me.

It is so very sad but true - too many drugs and too many steroids; putting on constant performances needed to make money and keep his fans happy; stresses for years trying to keep an unhappy marriage going; and then his son’s rare genetic mental illness.
There is a very thin line between sanity and insanity - some never cross it no matter what pressures they are under and others do even with less pressures than he was under. But his were compounded with his misuse of drugs. No one will ever know what happened at home to cause him to finally go over that line and take three lives.
