War On Terror Report: Iraq Has World’s Second Largest Oil Reserves
IT was not about oil:
BAGHDAD — Iraqi oil production could double in five years, according to a new study.
The report found that Iraq’s oil reserves may be almost twice as much as previously estimated. The study by the U.S. consultancy IHS said another 100 billion barrels of oil reserves could be found in Iraq.
IHS said the estimate would rank Iraq as having the second largest reserves in the world, following Saudi Arabia. Currently, Iran has the second largest oil reserves in the world.
And Iran has nuclear power…soon. And then it could make nuclear bombs and have all the oil reserves in the Middle East. And detroy so many Israeli oranges. [Insert manic laughter here.]

Great story.
The press release is dated April 18, 2007 and the report is from May 9, 2007. A brief search on the IHS web site would show this is old news.
Going all the way to Iraq, under a lie, and then putting up with transportation costs and military expenditures defies any reason. Either invade Canada and Mexico under the pre-text of a lie or simply use the money spent on Iraq to BUY the oil.
10 Billion a week at $80/ppb would be about 25 million barrels a day that could be purchased.
Instead the US would choose to lessen the amount of oil on the market -an easily predicatable result - and make it more likely to have less oil going forward?
I wish I could “see the big picture” like this author. I am stuck just applying reason to the facts.
