In the days when these pricks thrive on positive press coverage, what a perfect opportunity to roll ones sleeves up and help fill sandbags, man a water bowser or carry old ladies out of their houses to safety, he would have been on the front cover of every tabloid.
If the guy is so thick that he didn’t see such an opportunity then he doesn’t deserve to run a party never mind a country.
Regardless of press coverage etc, I think it would have just been the right thing to do anyway.
