New US Soldiers Get $20,000 Iraq Bonus
WAR and brass:
The U.S. Army is now offering an additional $20,000 bonus to new recruits willing to ship out quickly.
The “QS” bonus, for “Quick Shipper,” goes to new and prior service recruits who join, select a job and ship out for training within 30 days.
The bonus is in addition to other enticements already in place.
“The $20,000 means a lot of seed money for new soldiers answering the Army’s call to duty,” Tom Foley, spokesman for the Columbus, Ohio, Recruiting Battalion, told station WLWT in Cincinnati.

I’d say they’re strectched quite thin. This is not a surprise to me, but is a direct reflection on the American people’s belief in the Iraq War, and a picture clear as day with regard to The Bush/Cheney corporatocracy: “we don’t have loyalty? Heck, we’ll just BUY loyalty”. It makes sense, seeing as the only thing they DO have is money, and lots of it. Money generated from this war. What’s next? A guaranteed job with Halliburton upon completion of service?

Presumably the families must pay this back on receipt of the flag-draped coffin on day 31?
