Gordon Brown In America: The US Magna Carta
GORDON Brown must be pleased with his current trip to America. While UK papers concluded that Brown was no poodle, some of New York’s newspapers got their knickers in a twist hailing the Prime Minister’s visit as a victory for the transatlantic relationship and a defeat for “leftists” and “naysayers.” (Pic: Bush Colonscopy by Beau Bo D’or)
“Surely the two countries won’t see eye to eye on everything,” concedes the New York Post op-ed page under the headline LONDON STAYS UN-WOBBLY. “But it’s good to know that Britain - now in the person of Gordon Brown - still gets it. It’s a long war. Friends need to stick together.”
Meanwhile, the New York Sun is even more effusive:
“We may have fought for our liberty from British colonial rule,” intoned the Sun. “But we continue to owe the foundation of our thought and the inspiration of our free government to the land of the Magna Carta, Churchill, Thatcher, Blair, and, now, Brown.”
I’m not making this up. And the Sun is not done.
“It is encouraging to discover that the new prime minister is every bit as devoted to being our partner as was his predecessor. A fair amount of speculative nonsense has been written about how, to ensure a future electoral victory, Mr. Brown would be sure to distance himself from Mr. Bush and from Mr. Blair’s commitment to bringing democracy to Iraq. The naysayers were proven wrong, as they have been so often. There may be many differences between the characters of Messrs. Brown and Blair, but the message yesterday was be not misled that the two men thought differently, too, about Britain’s role in the world.”
Unless, of course, you opened the Daily Mail which thought Brown’s trip signaled the end of the Anglo-American affair. Or the Mirror which pointed out that while Brown reinforced the special relationship, he also served notice that he would begin pulling troops out of Iraq in two months.
More troubling for Brown, who heads to New York today to address the United Nations, could be the fact that other newspapers seemed to ignore his press conferences entirely. You have to look pretty hard to find the 212 words in today’s New York Daily News devoted to yesterday’s meetings. And the Wall Street Journal carried just two paragraphs–in its email newsletter.

@MrErect
America is not the great nation it thinks it is! But a FAKE NATION - one big budget movie set, populated by a sh*t load of fat-wasting, wanna-bee actors………who have built an *illusion of greatness* through its self-glorified, *fictional* movies, managing to brain wash itself and some of the world (Not Britain) into thinking that it IS some kind of great nation that’s been here since the dawn of time.
Faark sake!
* Britain had already for the most part won the 2nd World War before you yanks entered it! …you just helped to speed up Britain’s victory! A hell of a lot if not most of the key achievements of the war, were actually down to the British. No matter how terribly harsh it would of got in Britain if we’d stood alone, we would of endured it …at terrible cost …but we would of endured it. Its what we do!! - By Indurance We Conquer.
Yank-land really saved no-one, you just like to think you did cus you want something to have over us.
You got nothing.

Just done a quick checkback on some older Anorak forums and, yep, just as I thought - they are definitely sharing the same body! Won’t embarrass you Softy/Erect by pointing out the posts on those forums which gave you away. Also, I made a mistake when I made some comments to MrErect in my earlier post on here, reminding him of what he had previously said. My mistake was that he had never said it! It had been said by MrSofty - but MrErect, you didn’t correct me did you!
Having a conversation on here with yourself using two names!? That’s a bit weird isn’t it? I would suggest it is the type of thing that people do “when they have no ground to stand on in debate.” lol
August 2nd, 2007 at 10:16 am
Hey - I think they’re one and the same! MrErect did say he hosts all those websites didn’t he …………..
August 2nd, 2007 at 10:03 am
MrSofty - what an ignoramus you are to say that the Brits that go to live in the States are all losers! A lot of the most successful people over there are British, and always have been. They are people who would have made it anywhere, they choose to live in America for their own reasons, and not to “capitalize on their accents” - what a stooopid thing to say!
Oh - and I’m not a loser who can’t afford to go over there. I have lived there - in San Diego, CA., and I have a lot of US born relatives in that area. They are descendants from one of my ancestors who emigrated early twentieth century. They are all grateful for their English ancestry, and are proud of it.
Incidentally, I loved living there, and generally I like Americans - thankfully though I didn’t bump into too many like you and MrHardOn.
All the Americans that come to live in the UK, they are all losers then as well, who couldn’t make it in America? There are several hundred thousand US citizens now permanently resident in the UK. They include many highly successful business people, entrepreneurs, top showbiz stars, in fact people from all walks of life. They love it here. They say it is the most civilised place to live, much more cultured and much less money grubbing than the States. They choose to be here as well for the quality of education that is on offer for their children. These are people who can afford to live anywhere in the world that they choose, but they choose to live in the UK. Says it all.
Anonymous - it’s just a pity that we have two guys on here who are not really representative of their country. They’re just sore about something or other, and have chips on their shoulders. Anyway I hope they’re not a double act - it’s a well known fact that eating too much ice cream can impair your erection!! lol
August 2nd, 2007 at 2:45 am
Save our Country? Christ - you guys can’t even compose a sentence that employs punctiation.
Stick to what you’re best at. Penis enhancement and Ice cream.
Are you people a double act?

TrueBrit one more thing for historical accuracy we did in Fact save your country twice even if it took a while to get there. Its like letting your son try to fight for himself first…. If I were you…I watch your neighbor now that the wall is down because history has a tendency to repeat itself.
August 2nd, 2007 at 2:12 am
MrErect my interaction with the British has been limited to meeting in the US but those British that come to live in the US are the losers that were unable to make in in England so they come here and capitalize on their accents….fools people for a while.
So take what TrueGrit has to say with a grain of salt hes a British loser who can’t afford to come here. So he’s angry
August 2nd, 2007 at 2:06 am
Thank you for the correction. Historical accuracy is very important. First of all This was a comment on the article not an attack on Brits certainly not a personal attack on you trueBrit. Secondly how is it that you feel this entitlement to being rescued by the US …so much so that you feel its appropriate to comment on how long it took. Thats a mighty powerful expectation from one of the youngest empires around… Maybe in WW3 we will come to rescue you more quickly considering how much you seem to appreciate it later. Anyway If my comment are to much for you Please Don’t read them. Im entitled to my own opinion and for the record I love Brits Like the guys in Red Dwarf there ok.
August 2nd, 2007 at 12:57 am
truebrit, before critisising our ex-colonials, maybe you would care to check out some historical facts.
In fact it was three years, and not two, before our cousins, the Americans, got involved in WWII.
I think you are confused. In fact, it was WW ONE that took America two years to enter!
MrErect, I really do apologise for this discrepancy and, in the interest of Anglo/American relationships, am happy to correct it.

If you’re not selling anything then why are you using that website address as your name MrErect. The site is promoting treatments for ED. Oh, and please don’t give us that sh*t again about how you host 1500 websites, and what a successful gambler you are, and how much money you have. We’ve already heard it.
Perhaps you could enlighten us - what is it exactly that you have against us Brits and the UK? All your posts that I have seen have been anti-Brit. Your post on here is a typical example, do you not expect to get some flak in return?
Don’t call me weak MrErect. I can be as HARD as you - with or without the viagra!
lol
August 1st, 2007 at 6:44 pm
Correction I check back almost everyday I just don,t comment on every post.
Thank you for the history lesson truebrit. I call it like I see it. Yeah we waited 2 years because it was not our war. We are on the other side of the ocean and had not been attacked, you guys blew it we saved you’re ass oh yeah I must give Props to the Russians who paid the biggest price. But you let it happen in your backyard…Hopefully with your new European Union you can all get along…..Hmmn the Brits did’nt join the union did they no euros…..wonder why…
P.S. - Im not selling anything or trying to drum up business …its always the weak that lash out at people personally when they have no ground to stand on in debate.
August 1st, 2007 at 2:07 pm
OK. I’ve noticed that MrErect has done this now several times on various forums. He’ll come on to make a post, usually having a snipe at Brits or the UK in general, then he disappears never to return.
Guess he’s just trying to drum up business to sell more Viagra. It must be hard for him!! lol

“Well you were the Mother country so have no fear the USA will continue to protect you from the rest of Europe and the Middle East just like you were our own frail and aging Mother. But it might take us three to six months to get there in an emergency.”
Is that right MrErect. Same as it took you two years to haul your asses into WWII then?
Britain and our European allies took on the might of Hitler’s armies because they invaded a foreign country, Poland. We did so because we cherish freedom and democracy, not just for ourselves, but for others too. The mighty USA, that home of the free and the brave, only joined in because Pearl Harbour, which is, er, US territory, was bombed.
God Bless America, because some of us over here won’t.

truebrit,
Have had a chat, and the general concensus is that you posted the post 3 times, and the spammer came in.
The first was in a different user name, the last two attempts were ‘truebrit’
If you care to try again but change a few words where possible it should go through, but please try it once only. If it fails leave a message here and one of us will pick it up
July 31st, 2007 at 11:11 pm
The post was submitted under the same truebrit name as this.
I know that the spammer barrier blocks posts if they have multiple links in them, but mine didn’t have any links at all.
July 31st, 2007 at 9:45 pm
Mod, am I being censored? I made what I thought was a reasonable post (twice!), and it still hasn’t appeared.
?
Perhaps multiple user name? I shall ask , but it could be the spam mechanism and not Moderators.
We do not intervene lightly, and are very reluctant to remove posts, so probably the spammer barrier
July 31st, 2007 at 9:39 pm
Uh-huh. Same as it took you two years to haul your asses into WWII then eh, MrErect?
Britain took on the might of Hitler’s Germany because a foreign country, POLAND, was invaded. Uncle Sam joined in because Pearl Harbour, which is, er, US territory was bombed.
God Bless America, because some of us won’t.
July 31st, 2007 at 9:38 pm
Mod, what happened to my post!?
July 31st, 2007 at 9:33 pm
Gordon will sort it!
July 31st, 2007 at 6:39 pm
Well you were the Mother country so have no fear the USA will continue to protect you from the rest of Europe and the Middle East just like you were our own frail and aging Mother. But it might take us three to six months to get there in an emergency.
