Summer Holidays: A Mother’s Ruin

by | 3rd, August 2007

THIS in the Telegraph:

Increasing numbers of mothers are turning to alcohol because they cannot cope with the strain of looking after their young children during the long school holidays, experts said yesterday.

One privately-run chain of residential alcoholism treatment centres, the Lynwode Group, said it had a 50 per cent increase in the admission of women over the past seven years, with peak periods during the school breaks.

A spokesman for the company, which runs four alcoholism clinics in Britain, said women were having to create constant entertainment for their children and many would not leave their children unattended for a moment.

Given the tabloid scare stories can anyone blame them?
