MADDYWATCH: Madeleine McCann’s Family House
Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS: Front page, plus pages 4 and 5, with logo (“THE HUNT FOR MADELEINE: Day 117”). “MADELEINE: NEW SETBACK OVER CRUCIAL DNA EVIDENCE” announces THE WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER.
It reports that a “devastating blow” has been struck – which turns out to be the news that the DNA tests will not be ready for weeks. The tests are being carried out at the Forensic Science Service in Birmingham, so there is no opportunity to blame the Portuguese authorities on this occasion. The paper has to content itself with the comment that the tests are being delayed by “the nature of the evidence”.
The paper notes that as the McCanns try to come to terms with losing Madeleine “they continually face new accusations”.
It then lists these “vicious smears” and describes each one in detail: “Kate’s guilt”, “Drugging their children”, “Wife-swapping holidays”, “Excessive drinking”, “Children left to cry”, “Killed in the apartment”, “A body in the hire car”, “Emergency call delay”, “Intercepted phone calls and emails”, “Friends under suspicion”, “Forged birth certificate”.
For reasons best known to itself, the paper prints a picture of the McCanns’ home, with a caption noting that it is worth £600,000.
THE STAR: Most of page 9. “DIVIDED IN GRIEF: Pals fear Maddie parents’ rift. “Friends” are apparently “concerned about GP Kate’s crestfallen body language”.
Portuguese newspapers are accusing the police of driving a wedge between the couple to test their individual accounts of what happened on the fateful night. They also claim that a rift has developed over the media campaign.
THE DAILY TELEGRAPH: Small box, page 2. “Expert warns McCanns of long wait for DNA results” The paper reports on the delays, and says that the McCanns have been advised not to return to Britain until the results are known.
OTHER PAPERS: No Madeleine news today.

Oh dear Toni, just when we were getting on so well!
Yes Penster, I expect that the situation re Murat is as you say because of the protection it affords him and will, hopefully, become clear very soon.
Now where are those damned cards? Five of Diamonds, Nine of Hearts and the Two of Spades. Hmm 16, I’ll stick.

cows laying down means it is going to rain FYI

Mystics and mumbo jumbo!!! What a load of bollocks.
I saw a cow lying down this morning - as sure a sign as any that Gerry is a guilty man. String him up.
You lot are suposed to be grown ups and yet you put forward theories based on sad acts who get their jollies by reading the cards.
What worries me is you all have the vote.
McCann is an extremely dodgy individual who I hope and pray will be spending some considerable years at Her Majesty’s Pleasure (or the Portuguese equivalent)

Yes Toni SA is certainly a country of outstanding natural beauty. I came a couple of times on business a few years back before I retired, Stayed mainly in Joburg although did also visit Capetown (much nicer).
ps My apologies to Anorak & everyone else for posting a personal message not related to the topic, but I once assumed this lady of was a man, so she changed her name and I still feel guilty.

post 10, unfortunately Madeleine will be remembered by …………..
oh that little girl that was left on her own in the middle of the algarve
oh that poor little soul who’s parents made all that money out of
whether she is found or not……………poor maddie

Yes interesting that Robert Murat has not been cleared or charged. Maybe the testing will conclusively clear/ incriminate him. Who knows. He gets more rights and protection under Portugese law via his current status. Persons involved with an investigation can request the arguidio (sp) status to afford themselves more protection.

you should visit SA Richard, the beaches are lovely in Durban and Capetown, and you can cut my grass while you are here !!!!
i read your post on the other forum,, mmm very interesting. I also agree about the dodgy mother RM, why is she still not looking for Maddie, probably not on their payroll.

Toni, You are clearly getting very angry - as I have been since Day One when I was actually in the Western Algarve and found out what the McCann’s did re (not) caring for their 3 children. I have made a couple of short visits in the past 4 months and am out there again next week; I will not visit Praia da Luz although it used to be a really nice place and will go back again one day. Each time I fly into Faro, it strikes me that no progress has been made to find her in all this time and I wonder what on earth happened to her. Poor helpless child.
Also if Murat is completely innocent, which is possible, what on earth is he going through? And why haven’t the PJ changed his status as an official suspect?
Is it because they can’t/won’t do this until the matter is closed or because they still believe he is involved in some way, in which case surely they would’ve charged him by now?
I genuinely don’t know what’s going on with him although my original reaction was he was merely a pathetic attention seeker along with his elderly mother and her information stall (remember that - very odd); I do however hope this turns out to be the case and he takes the UK tabloids to the cleaners. In the meantime, as Anorak would put it, all we’ve got is the Media speculation, in Uk & Portugal, watching the PJ & the parents. Heh ho, my grass needs cutting …..

I never understood why they needed money in the first place. Surely millions of people were willing to give them a place to stay, plane tickets and put up posters for them (people would have printed them off themselves ) - for FREE!
This way people would have felt more hands on involved (although I’m sure that many of these things were actually given for free)
So what did they need money for??? The papers weren’t paid to keep them on the front page.
This baffles me - the only thing they really need a million pounds for right now is to buy a top lawyer and a house where no one can find them.
Surely this isn’t going to happen???????

Joanne, I’m pretty sure it’s on record that that is where the fund proceeds are going, should the MM case achieve “closure”. Richard I read yr post on the other page, well written. I feel that there has been a distinct change in the Mccanns, like they’ve accepted that she is not coming back, and there is evidence to support this. I read that the forensic laboratory spokesperson stated that it is not complicated to analyse blood from known person, but person/s unknown takes far longer, hence the delay. Person/s unknown? So noone that is currently on the radar?
I’ve never believed that Madeleine, or any trace of her remains will ever be found, but after all this time, it still astounds me that those kids were left unattended.

yes richard you are correct, frustrated with the PJ and with the DNA labs for taking so long, it seems that everyone has been running around and around the streets and it is now time to come in the back gate.
I have read somewhere that the investigation is now back where it should have been all along ….in the dingy office space of the PJ in Prai de Luij instead it has been travelling the world and meeting pontiffs and presidents wifes.. very sad im afraid if it has to start from scratch again.
why dont they use the money to get intepol or the CIA involved
August 28th, 2007 at 11:19 am
Thank you Joanne. Spot on.
August 28th, 2007 at 11:18 am
Hi Toni, Good to hear from you. Yes I understand your frustration, but do I sense there is a hardening of your views on this matter? I posted my views on the PJ situation on the other board, so will not repeat them but I do believe they want to get a result.

Madeleine McCann will always be remembered as a brave young child. Wether she is found dead or alive.
Her parents, on the other hand, will be remembered for other things.
As a parent I can only say that my role is totally different to Mrs McCanns. I am a hard working mother and can balance my time equally and fairly. I would never put anyones child in danger, least of all my own. I suffer in trying to understand their motives for leaving babies alone. I also suffer to understand why everyone thinks that them being professionals should help them to make these decisions.
Finally, the whole thing has become an absolute mess, and sorry to say this, but the fund should be released to assist other parents of missing children.
If Madeleine is found alive, there will come a time in her life when she will blame her parents for this. Prayers for Madeleine and all neglected children.
August 28th, 2007 at 11:09 am
I expect he wants the fund released so he can fuck off before he’s found out. Take away his passport PJ
August 28th, 2007 at 11:08 am
thing is moriarty, will it be the gospel truth or the truth according to st. PJ
August 28th, 2007 at 11:02 am
So do I. But I think the police will reveal the truth very shortly
August 28th, 2007 at 10:56 am
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Heard it all before…..Poor little innocent Madeleine….she was dealt a sh.t hand….she has been let down by all. I hope she comes back one day and reveals the truth.
August 28th, 2007 at 10:44 am
this child should have been found by now, alive or dead, something should have come of all this media stuff, unless, ………she is hidden and they dont want to find her, meaning, someone who is involved in finding her was instrumental in losing her, be it the cops, the parents, RM or the express for all we know.l because of all the hype and coverage someone somewhere is very scared, whil the fund gets fatter the parents get more tanned, and the police remain clueless then this little girl will remain missing. something has got to give.

Mary Joe (2)
Sorry… please could you explain to me what exactly Gerry and Kate have done to find their daughter??? They have sold a few wristbands and met a few celebrities, but after that I struggle to recall anything else……..
August 28th, 2007 at 10:31 am
“Expert warns McCanns of long wait for DNA results” The paper reports on the delays, and says that the McCanns have been advised not to return to Britain until the results are known.
Hmmmmm… wonder why that is then?
August 28th, 2007 at 10:31 am
why shoudnt he ask for the fund to be used? after all thats what people voluntary donated it for. Madeleine!!!! So bitter some people! These parents are trying to do all they can to find their daughter, and yes they made a mistake but that doesnt give people the right to be so nasty! There is too much speculation and no real evidence yet!
God bless Madeleine

Who really gives a shit any more? Certainly not St Gerry of the Blessed Blog. If you read yesterdays thrilling instalment you will see he managed to “pop” into church for ten minutes to pray for her. I spend more time having a crap.
Still I suppose he has his time taken up counting the dosh and working out who doesn’t have an extradition treaty with Britain.
I only caught a glimpse of the headline in the Express at the weekend so I’m not sure, but did it read along the lines that he is pleading for the “fighting fund” to be released for some reason or other?
