DAILY EXPRESS: Front page, plus pages 4 and 5, with logo (“THE HUNT FOR MADELEINE: Day 117”). “MADELEINE: NEW SETBACK OVER CRUCIAL DNA EVIDENCE” announces THE WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER.
It reports that a “devastating blow” has been struck – which turns out to be the news that the DNA tests will not be ready for weeks. The tests are being carried out at the Forensic Science Service in Birmingham, so there is no opportunity to blame the Portuguese authorities on this occasion. The paper has to content itself with the comment that the tests are being delayed by “the nature of the evidence”.
The paper notes that as the McCanns try to come to terms with losing Madeleine “they continually face new accusations”.
It then lists these “vicious smears” and describes each one in detail: “Kate’s guilt”, “Drugging their children”, “Wife-swapping holidays”, “Excessive drinking”, “Children left to cry”, “Killed in the apartment”, “A body in the hire car”, “Emergency call delay”, “Intercepted phone calls and emails”, “Friends under suspicion”, “Forged birth certificate”.
For reasons best known to itself, the paper prints a picture of the McCanns’ home, with a caption noting that it is worth £600,000.
THE STAR: Most of page 9. “DIVIDED IN GRIEF: Pals fear Maddie parents’ rift. “Friends” are apparently “concerned about GP Kate’s crestfallen body language”.
Portuguese newspapers are accusing the police of driving a wedge between the couple to test their individual accounts of what happened on the fateful night. They also claim that a rift has developed over the media campaign.
THE DAILY TELEGRAPH: Small box, page 2. “Expert warns McCanns of long wait for DNA results” The paper reports on the delays, and says that the McCanns have been advised not to return to Britain until the results are known.
OTHER PAPERS: No Madeleine news today.

Hi All. I’m Desiree. Some food for thought: When performing aGoogle search on: “arm chair sleuths madeleine” this website came up in the first page of responses. I work in Advertising and metrics are always something we take a look at when exploring new websites. This high ranking on Google would substantiate that there are more hits to this site for those looking to solve the Madeleine case than any of the competitive sites out there today.
This would be the equivalent of Monday morning quarterback’ing (transposed into amateur investigative hindsight & speculation to the nth degree) on the Tuesday morning after Monday Nite Football. Everyone has a strong opinion and knows what should have been done once the damage is done.
My questions: how many estimated monthly impressions does this website get? Specifically the Madeline forum since the disappearance of this child back in may? Anyone know? If it’s ranked number one on Google, I would ascertain that many who are directly involved in this investigation (the police, the mccanns, murat) are reading it regularly & watching it closely. Hell, the brilliant cadaver dogs are probably reading it.
I’ve heard about a YouTube format message boards for new websites. This will be a platform to voice opinions on various subjects with audio and visuals. One would think this might hinder an investigation or contrarily, it may help. Would people be more or less inclined to give commentary and speculation on a case as controversial and divided as this one if they are no longer anonymous?. Would that end up attracting a lesser quality audience or more qualified? It seems like a progressive idea; but perhaps too much progress isn’t always the desired goal of websites or arm chair sleuths.
I haven’t formed opinions about this crime or why it was carried out. There are pros and cons in both directions and I’ll refrain from speculation and accusation while gathering all the facts. I’m intrigued mostly by the Google rankings if I must comment on any one item.

The evidence that there was an abduction is quite simple:
M’s parents left M in bed and went to a Tapa’s bar and when they came back M was gone.
Probably with very little exception e.g blood spots were found in the apartment, the rest of the so called evidence is not officially quoted or admitted by the PJ who are the only organisation with actual evidence in this case. Unfortunately, I suspect the PJ have little evidence of any kind.
In absence of anything to the contrary, the original abduction story still stands.
Why should educated, generally upstanding professional people be slurred without evidence?
This isn’t about being pro-McCann, its about following due process.
The bottom line is, if there was any evidence at all against the M’s or their friends, then they would at least be arguido’s if not arrested and charged.

Well “Moderation”. It’s very interesting that by way of an insult for posters you disagree with, you like to accuse them of being children.
Apart from being invalid; as younger people are entitled to have an opinion which is just as likely to be valid as yours, it also reveals a little too much about yourself and how highly you value Children, which maybe explains some of your own postings.

Re: the theories on why having a baby via IVF plays into the parenting of Madeleine. Some folks should be ashamed of themselves for being so ignorant. IVF commonly involves the mother’s egg and the father’s sperm, to enable fertilization that for a variety of reasons can’t occur naturally. I would guess that Madeleine is Kate and Gerry’s natural offpspring, and what in the world any of that has to do with the love of a parent for a child they brought into the world is beyond me. Parents can and do love adopted, deformed, mentally disabled children as much as they love a “perfect” child. This type of speculation is all rubbish. No one wants to see the outcome of this sad case to involve the parents in any way. If it turns out that way, there will be years more of blogging to talk about why parents can no longer admit to our inevitable misjudgements while raising our kids, so that when an accident or tragegy strikes we must go to any length to cover it up for fear of prosecution. Someday, every parent will be going to prison for some snap of judgement that failed their kids. I am not defending Kate and Gerry — I would never, ever have left such young children in a room and away from earshot. My own theory is that they used very bad judgement, a tradegy occurred, and they felt they had too much at stake to admit it and thus embarked on a coverup. Their friends got involved for the same reasons — fear of prosecution and recrimination for condoning the leaving of kids alone. Folks, the real lesson here is that we are a society that doesn’t want to face up to our mistakes. We know we can deny, deny, deny (like OJ and Scott Peterson), we can hire fancy lawyers to cut deals for us to lessen the pain of our consequences, we can wage campaigns that “redeem” us in the eyes of those looking on. We need to face the consequences of our mistakes and expect that fair punishment to fit the crime will occur.

(Only don’t read Revelations in the Bible about the mark of the devil being placed in the right hand of the devils followers and don’t google the fact that every microchip contains a barcode that has the numbers 666 hidden in them - or that might put you off getting it done.

Have you seen latest news- Gerry threw a tantrum, ripped his microphone and walked off during an interview after being questioned about the blood on the wall.
That doesn’t make him look innocent! Funny reaction - that’s what my boy does when he’s caught being naughty - throws a tantrum!!!!
He’s not in control anymore and his relationship with Kate is starting to crack. Maybe the police are waiting for one of them to turn on the other.
Just a few more weeks - when we turn the last stone will it reveal test results, a dead body,a murderer or a pair of spin doctors???
Now the cracks begin to show!!!!

Maybe the man/women who took her knew maddie… The parents passed her on to them for a stroll!!!

I onc came up with a great idea to be able to watch TV and leave my baby in her room at night sleeping. I used a baby monitor.
Only thing was at age 18 months my baby sussed it out, jumped out of her cot and would scream ‘MUMMY’ into it Ha ha ha!
The least natural thing to do would be to leave two two year olds capable of jumping out of cots alone yet alone add another 4 year old to the equation. Oh and leave the door open - eh????
One wakes up - they wake up the others - everyone knows this is not natural its plain STUPID!! These people have degrees and they call us the uneducated ones….ha ha ha ha ha!
Go on,tell us to feel sorry for them as it was a one off mistake - but it wasn’t was it!!!!!!

Police say someone would have been watching the house for atleast for days…as it said in papers.. the mccanns did that EVERY night… If so why did the ”kidnapper” use the window??!
The ‘’sighting” was made by a friend of theirs… ooo what a surprise..!! Gerry said he couldn’t find madeleine in her bed…Why didn’t you go check where she was?! Thats irresponsible!!
He must have spent 10mins in that hotel room… could have wrapped her dead body up threw her in the back of a car and then gone back to food… Maybe the ‘’sighting” wasnt real!!! To make police end up going down the wrong route!!

I wonder if the police will ever let us know which ‘leaks’ were true and which were false.
Were the twins still sleeping after the event - possibly sleeping drugged/
Did the McCanns and friends come up with the idea of leaving kids alone on their last holiday?
Did the old lady upstairs hear Maddie a few nights before crying ‘Daddy’ for hours until quarter to 12? - Is this why she needed a stronger dose?
Did the McCanns lend Murats car in order to frame him?
Did the dog scent a dead body in the apartment and in the hire car?
Was the body moved again after the event?
Did Madeleine sleepwalk often?
Did they check on their 3 children every half hour or not at all?
Did their friends ever get questioned by anyone for leaving their kids alone too???
So many ‘leaks’ and smarmy reporters have to question why we are even thinking that the McCanns may be involved or upsetting them in a any way??
Hellooooo??? Unless you have a brain of a squashed tomato you WILL also come to the conclusion that the McCanns are irresponsible and lie which makes them SUSPECTS if nothing else! Yes, I feel sorry for them but one thing they owe Madeleine is to tell the TRUTH - their changing statements and ability to act (Gerry said being emotionless was just an act) prove they lie!
I’m sure they want everything to go quiet now and be given a million pounds - now that we have sussed them out!!!

With regard to Murat: He reminds me of Richard Jewell, who was a security guard at the Olympic games in Atlanta, GA, in 1996. Wikipedia quotes: “Jewell, working as a private security guard, discovered a pipe bomb, alerted police, and helped to evacuate the area before it went off. Initially hailed in the media as a hero, Jewell later was considered a suspect, and despite never being charged, was subsequently pilloried in the media before eventually being completely cleared. His name now evokes false accusations of guilt, especially in the media.”
I remember a cartoon in Time or Newsweek, months later, which showed a Jewell getting his “good name” back - his name was shown being put through a meat grinder, and the resulting mincemeat version of his name landing at his feet. I fear that Murat will suffer the same indiginities of Jewell, always being associated with the Maddie case, always thought of as being guilty, even if eventually he is cleared of his arguido status.
Meanwhile yes: free up the Maddie fund. My Mum and I put money in it! If it’s being run by trustees, let them hire the private detectives and do the work, what will the McCanns have to do with it at all?

The parents being professional might think they are above suspicition.
They wont think that people are capable of thinking clearly, possibly the children were drugged,it wouldnt stop them going out for the night then
Also the night Maddy disappeared,they were at a nearby tapas bar, the night before that they were half a mile away, the staff were so concerned about it,they reminded the mccanns they had babysitting facilities,but they chose not to use it,but they used the daytime facilities!!!!!!!!!
Why take the kids with them if they didnt want to spend anytime with them,they were in the creche during the day,and left alone at night,when exatly did they see the kids
If this had happened in Britain the other kids would have been taken into care by now,as parents they are a disgrace

I like many others believe the mccanns know EXACTLY what has happened to that little girl.They wouldnt be able to let their other children out of their sight,if they didnt know.
If and when the truth comes out, god help the Mccanns they will be strung up by the media,and the public,and serve them right,
Its strange that now the police advice them not to leave they want the fund releasing,
Now the mccanns dont want so much media interest,yet every little detail was written about in the past,after she hadnt been in the press for a few days,it was then written that he,d lost his wallet weeks before,while he was in London.
Now things are getting sticky for them,they want the press to leave them alone.is this so if the truth comes out the press wont write so much about it.

I have said from day 1, that the child was never theirs, I reckon that she was made to order, and I strongly believe that she is alive and living in near Holland.
I believe that she was drugged, taken down to the Marina, off to Morocco where Robert Murat ran his trips, then transferred back to the Netherlands to complete the deal.
Why would any responsible adult leave children home alone? there must have been a reason, easy target maybe?
I am sure that any mother will agree that to have three toddlers sleeping by early evening is a miracle an virtually impossible without sedation.
Why was poor Jane sent to check on the last occassion, was she set up?
I reckon that this is an illegal adoption racket and theyre all in on it, exept Jane.
Maybe they ought to check the parents foreign bank accounts in the last 5 years.

Well, having a look at that, Toni, has at least solved one small enigma, whihc was the child supposedly peaking out behind the car (I hadn’t seen the photo before). If you get the photo bigger, it looks to me, with very little doubt, as if there are two posters of Maddie stuck to the back windscreen. One on the right hand side (left in the photo) and also one on the left (right in the photo).

Richard, snap is more up my street, I only said to have a look, it is just another theory to add to the 199,990 ones we already have. there could be some truth in it after all Maddie is a test tube baby, now any child is a miracle if I couldnt have one myself and had to revert to IVF then I would wrap that child in cotton wool and never let it out of my sight, never ever leave 3 of them alone somewhere, they are special gifts from god given to parents who may as well as thrown the test tubes away

All I know is a very innocent baby girl is still missing. If she isn’t found soon I think many of us who now care about her are going to be very depressed if we aren’t already. This is the most tragic story and one I know I will never forget. I now know about missing children which I didn’t realize that much before and the epidemic it is. I know about Madeleine’s missing, but didn’t know about all the other children who are also missing. It is an epidemic according to the research and statistics. Unbelievable that this goes on. Little Madeleine has helped us all wake up about this societal issue and hopefully that awareness can help stop it one day. The days of leaving front doors unlocked, kids riding their bikes alone with adventure to roam and play is really gone. Kids are put into supervised activities now; gymnastics, ballet, soccer, etc. Kids today don’t really know what it’s like to play with freedom. People used to leave their kids alone too; back in the day to go to the market or out to eat for a quick bite, it was just what they did sometimes, according to my Grandmother. If you do that now, your kids get snatched and you never see them again. Look up the numbers for missing children and see how many are stolen every day. I am still in shock after reading them.
