Madeleine McCann On Your Doormat And In The Loire Valley
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS front page: MADELEINE: Parents are to sue over claims they gave her fatal overdose. (Plus page 7, with logo: THE HUNT FOR MADELEINE: Day 120).
THE WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER brings the news that the McCanns’ legal action is against the Portuguese publication Tal & Qual. (The Express, of course, has dutifully repeated all the allegations and smears that have emanated from the Portuguese press, for the delectation and disgust of Maddywatchers back home.) Spokeswoman Justine McGuinness says the McCanns “are not going to be a doormat any more”.
Meanwhile, the paper says the hunt has switched to a campsite in the Loire valley after sightings by holidaymakers.
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 2: Madeleine parents to sue newspaper
The Telegraph reports that the McCanns say they are suing to clear their name, not for the money.
THE TIMES page 5: Candle of hope for Madeleine
The paper says that Madeleine’s classmates “said a poignant prayer” yesterday, on what should have been her first day at school.
DAILY MAIL page 6: McCanns to sue over ‘killers’ slur
The paper says the McCanns believe it is time to stand firm against the allegations.
DAILY MIRROR page 11: Maddy school’s prayers
The paper says the McCanns spent a quiet day with their twins in Praia da Luz.
THE STAR page 22: SCHOOL’S SAD WAIT FOR MISSING MADDIES: Chair and locker are saved for her
The empty chair, locker and coat peg are once again invoked. Bishop Ellis headteacher Gail Neill says: “We are deeply saddened that we cannot yet welcome Madeleine McCann.”
THE SUN page 12: MADDIE SCHOOL PRAYER TRIBUTE
The paper also reports on the candle that is being kept burning at the school.
THE INDEPENDENT and THE GUARDIAN: No Madeleine news today.

#279 Molly you are good at this! A criminal lawyer? I don’t know how practices work in Portugal or if the offices have more than one who takes different kind of cases, etc. but a criminal lawyer does sound odd.
Response to Bulldump: I have a thought how that might have worked but not anything sure just an idea popped in my head one day.
#279 Tessa No one has tried a date with me yet. I haven’t seen anything like that on this site. NO. I only remember noticing you for the past week or so. The most I have noticed here is a little talk about swinging of other people.
Maybe I have reached a new stage or just going through one with this case. I like to read the posts now but maybe there was a critical stage, a desisive stage, and then something? Possibly lack of sleep but today I feel it is possible none of us will ever know the answers. There are some aspects that will be obvious.

Lets face facts here … very few of the posters here are making “irresponsible” comments. They are mostly opinions that we all have regarding what happened to Madeleine, and a lot of opinions have grown legs from one or another newspaper report.
I know the way I feel about the whole situation, and I will stick to my guns, unless what actually happened to this little girl is proven otherwise to me.
Yes, IP addresses are easily traceable, but so the heck what? I know where I am, have nothing to hide, and if they want to trace me they’re frikkin welcome!
Unless I say, I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THE MCCANN’S ACCIDENTALLY KILLED THEIR DAUGHTER (for example), there is not much that ANYONE can do to me! I am stating my opinions, and NOT directly accusing. And if they want to chase me halfway around the world, to try and sue me for my opinion (which they will not get right anyway) then they must do so!
So to all those posters who have been “scared” off by the mention of tracing IP addresses, please come back, you have nothing to fear!
And to the rest that are still here, can we get off the subject now as it’s becoming pretty boring.

Excess, lawsuits fly left right and centre, all over the world 24/7. I’m sure that the Mccanns did not directly inspire the often ill-informend debate on IP’s that has been consuming this forum for the better part of 24 hours.
September 2nd, 2007 at 12:43 pm
Ok Jonathan, then my apologies to you for coming down on you like a ton of bricks! Sorreeeeeee!

re: 268
I also hope that the Newspapers are not as stupid as the parents of this little girl think.
September 2nd, 2007 at 12:41 pm
You cannot ignore the fact that all this IP talk occurred after the McCanns sued the newspaper though!
September 2nd, 2007 at 12:38 pm
Spugun (228), if you bothered to check you will find that I have made very few posts of the last couple of days (other things to do etc) and only one on Sat which you responded to. Talk about pot and kettle. Hey ho..
Julie, only the first part of my post (227) regarding Murat evidence was in response to your post. The rest was a general comment on IP addresses and tracing using them. It was intended for those less familiar with the subject and there was some misinformation floating around.
I think people should be able to express views etc. When it comes to some of serious name calling and unjustifiable statements about inidividuals, posters shouldn’t think they are completely anonymous. BTW, this forum is pretty clean and generally hosts reasoned debate. Take a look at the courttv forum if you want to see some real mindlessness.

If the police did not advise the McCanns to show no emotion that would be a red flag to the police not to trust them.
Assuming the police did tell them to show no emotions that would put considerable strain upon someone and probably force them to have a breakdown.
This may be what the police intended to happen…if not the McCanns might also sue the police force for causing them a breakdown!!!!
So now they can blame the police and the newspaper article and the forum posters and the general public for their breakdown.
Funny how they are not putting the focus of their anger on whoever hid their child….maybe that is because they would end up fighting each other….oh dear!
September 2nd, 2007 at 12:29 pm
Or perhaps it’s the Clan McCann wanting to know what public opinion of them is?
Perhaps I should spell it out in clearer terms for them as far as I’m concerned? Aaaaaaaargh !!!!
September 2nd, 2007 at 12:27 pm
I agree Bulldump.
Wonder why Kate has not had a breakdown yet.
Is she rehearsing her debut?
September 2nd, 2007 at 12:24 pm
I wonder if it is merely copied text to bulk up a link to a web page and improve the rankings. Maybe it is a relevant site.
I am no webmistress mind you!!!

we do get a lot of Google bots and spammers on here, wouldn’t be surprised if it just copied though. Anorak is very cool
September 2nd, 2007 at 12:24 pm
they are a bit late in the day to be showing up now, I knew from personal experience that when it starts getting hot in the kitchen my emotions show most
September 2nd, 2007 at 12:22 pm
my appologies, the domain was registered in the normal way and then registered through monkinker. to mask the owners id. The could be numerous reasons why, either sinister or merely throught the use of a web spider. why delete or move the contents to another directory even though it has already been cached? I have no idea
I won’t be worrying too much though :-))))
I hope they swing (oh!!! they already do)
September 2nd, 2007 at 12:21 pm
What do you think about Gerry and his new found emotions Bulldump?
September 2nd, 2007 at 12:18 pm
i done a dns trace and it is not possible to find the owner of the domain since it is registered with a company called MONIKER ONLINE SERVICES, INC. whom mask the identity of domain owners. That is their sole job

I thought Nsync was a nineties boy pop band?…lol
Do you know why they are doing that? At least they now know we are watching them watching us…
September 2nd, 2007 at 12:09 pm
i did notice that these threads are being mirrored by www1 dot nsync it is not possible to view the pages at nsync’s website, but it is possible to see the cached version at http://209.85.135.104/search?q=cache:qGb5kKUCbpcJ:www1.nsync-land.com/theradio.pl%3Fm%3D2%26r%3Dj9szKhj8LM1UA73QXWGk90POrrM_N4fHK-NkGLo3kucPJlz3lHMW-g+bulldump+nsync&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=uk

Don’t worry Excess, I sure haven’t been one of those scared away by “idle threats”.
Just decided to go and work in my garden for the day, seeing that it is such a beautiful spring day here (29 Deg C - think that’s about 85 Deg F). (LOL to those of you freezing your butts off).
I shall be back !
September 2nd, 2007 at 12:05 pm
criminal lawyer?
Are you sugesting he is a criminal, cause once he’s mixed your intentions up a little he’ll have you in court for slandering his good name
September 2nd, 2007 at 11:58 am
Good post 280 Molly.
A criminal lawyer working for free…or is he?
September 2nd, 2007 at 11:52 am
I am reffering to the fact that since the McCanns took action against the newspaper Moderation is giving us a lot of warnings about how we can be tracked on here.
There are three types of posters in here. One is the type that already know about IP addresses and it is pointless telling them what they already know.
The second type have a valid opinion and you just scared them away by telling them they are being tracked.
The third type are making libellous comments against the McCanns. I have not seen this type yet but if they do come in here they deserve to be tracked and taken to court anyway….so why bother…. unless you want everyone to go????
My personal opinion that I am entitled to have is so far based on the friends and witness statments to the press and the McCanns public behaviour and comments
anyone can surmise that either the McCanns or everyone else around them are lying. I have an open mind but I am sure some vital information is missing.
That is all you can be sure of for now but it is enough to make them an official suspect here in Britain.

Hello Excess
Don’t think she is really, she was just answering questions by the US posters on here who have been a bit mystified by the fact that Anorak is a UK site registered in the US, its been an on going topic for about 2 weeks or more even. Then someone got the wind up about IP’s and so on it goes….

My ‘well said’ referred to Excess’ observation that whilst having a daughter abducted did not reduce Gerry McCann to the verge of an emotional breakdown (which would be more than understandable), having nasty things said about him by a newspaper, in a language that he cannot even read, is apparently devastating.
As with everything else the McCanns say or do, it once again comes down to ‘Me, Me, Me’
September 2nd, 2007 at 11:44 am
Well said Excess!
I’ve done some research on the McCanns’ Portuguese Lawyer this morning - the one who is so generously acting on their behalf pro bono (free) in the alleged libel case against T&Q…
He is a criminal lawyer
September 2nd, 2007 at 11:37 am
Excess, your post is animated and I’m sure you have a lot more to say on the topic! Your theory on the whole tragic affair is … ?
Moderation does not say boo, Moderation refers to “moderate opinions” and in this sense, the handle name is well chosen.
September 2nd, 2007 at 11:26 am
Moderation are you the page bully?
You seem to be the only one who is afraid to say boo in here!
Well boo!!!!
Gerry McCann is about to have a nervous breakdown just before he takes a newspaper to court for libellous comments.
Well timed I say!
I am so looking forward to seeing his acting skills as an emotional wreck.
This works well for him if he gets arrested too since he could claim diminished responsibility.
DUH!!!! Are we to believe that losing a child to a possible rapist DID NOT make him an emotional wreck?
But a newspaper saying bad things about him did?
Sorry Gerry but I do not buy it!!!!!!

re: 268
I hope that the world is not as stupid as the parents of this little girl and their 7 friends.
September 2nd, 2007 at 9:06 am
I don’t think anyone is paranoid, that is an exaggeration, but it is good to be aware. There have been libelous comments made on here and it is more than possible for someone to be traced if the desire is there.
Along with Freedom of Speech come personal responsibility for that speech. The seemingly anonymous internet (which it isn’t) should not be allowed to become a medium for complete destruction of good character by rumours and lies. IF Robert Murat is cleared then I hope he does go ahead with his lawyers threats / promises!!
September 2nd, 2007 at 8:29 am
I don’t understand why so many of you are paranoid about IPs. Nothing said in a comment would be worth anyones time to track down. Also, this site uses Google Analytics, each of us is logged and it would be no problem for the site administrator to give out our IPs . I’m on forums that show my IP and have a warning that all IPs are logged. Someone once said it was against the law to give out IPs. BS!
I also have a site myself and can see exacty what ISP and IP was used, country, time, date and what the person searched for.
As it is, even doing a whois on an IP will only give out where it is, not who it is. My IP changes sometimes several times a day and is on a shared proxy. It’s a waste of time to discuss this. No one pays attention to comments or the commenter, it all falls under freeom of screech!
