The McCann couple will be meeting detectives in charge of the investigation of Madeleine’s disappearance this morning, according to a Portuguese CID source. The same source confirmed more partial results from the analysis being done at Forensic Science Service have been received, recently, by Portuguese Police.

Here’s what I speculate what happened now, after all this time with the new findings. The parents accidentally overdosed their child or she died somehow in the room alone with her siblings during the time her parents were out for dinner. In fear that they would be prosecuted and ultimately jailed for their negligence and manslaughter, they felt it would benefit their other living children more, if they were to cover it up (how convenient) and have the family somewhat still intact. It’s a horrible theory.. but most likely what happened.

These people SHOULD be judged… and judged HARSHLY. Regardless of the end result, you DO NOT leave your 4 yr. old ALONE in an apartment with 2 younger children! In the US they could be charged with CHILD ENDANGERMENT. IF you are going to check on them every 30 minutes, WHY even bother to go? And the last time I checked, dinner takes about an hour. These people are RIDICULOUS, running around Europe getting celebrity endorsements, promoting themselves… it is as sickening as the crime itself. Absolutely they are guilty, as I’m sure the forensic evidence will show.

What has sickened me has been the endless parade of people on this board saying how they are praying for the child. The great thing about being an atheist as I am, is that I don’t have to try to square these events with the concept of there being a loving God.
On a practical note, I am a bit puzzled by this stuff about sniffer dogs detecting a corpse. Does a (recently dead) body actually smell different? I’m not saying I disbelieve, as I know dogs have incredibly sensitive noses, but the next thing I wonder is - how the hell do they train them? Not a nice thought!

Derek. I was really reacting to your critism of open forum.
Blindspots are sometimes hard to explain to those of us that have them. Its not likely that coaching a person you don’t know and are in some minor conflict with in an envrionment such as this is really worthwhile BUT! I will try in your case to help;
Ironic=Critising people for their opinions in a belittling way on the grounds of THEM being self-righteous. Do you see? Gosh this is hard! :>)

There is indeed a lot of speculation, and while I hope like everyone else there has been a breakthrough and the police are further forward in finding out what happened to little Madeleine I think the media ofen have amnesia about what they report on this sad case from one week to another. For example you get a headline ‘arrests imminent in the next 48 hours’ 6 weeks apart.
Robert Murat, why is it taking so long to clear him (if as reported that he will be cleared) do th/e Police need evidence that somebody else was involved before they can clear him ?
There was talk of mobile phone experts being drafted in to follow up on Murat’s movements that evening using his mobile phone signal………the press have not speculated as to whether there was any evidence to support or contradict his staement that he was in for the evening.
Also there were initial reports that Portugese sniffer dogs traced a trail of Madeleine’s scent right to the villa (is this now a load of bull……..if so why don’t the press think of this when writing their following update and question their ‘police source’ as now they right ‘expected that Murat will be cleared in days’.
All very sad, I can’t follow it or make anything of what is reported as the press are too thick to question or correct what they wrote the week before.
Good luck to the official investigation team and please please press do not be so stupid as you are losing credibility (or sorry have lost credibility) as you contradict from one week to the next without explanaion.
Madeleine, just hope you are not or did not suffer too much poor little thing.

Some people shouldn’t have a pet to take care of, much less a child. The only thing we can hope for, is that whomever took Madeline or murdered her will be found out and prosecuted to the hilt. Lets not forget Robert Murat.
If Maddies parents are indeed responsible, they have let this poor man be a suspect all this time. That alone should be worth 10 years in prison, apart from any other charges.
ITV reporters also have a lot to answer for by reporting him to the police then treating him as a big suspect. The media now want to create the news.
The whole sorry mess is disgusting.

I think you are all a bunch of freaks who have nothing to do but speculate on what did happen creating rumours that are false. You are only supporting all the other false theories that are out there but also supporting the media who have nothing to do but expose all the lies rather then helping the situation in finding Madelaine. Maddie’s parents are mortified over the loss of their daughter. You cannot sit there and tell me that they are the only parents guilty of leaving there children on there own. They will live with this for the rest of there lives. What you can do rather then spending your time speculating and pointing fingers is support Madelaine and spread the message in hopes that either she is alive & found. We live in a very cruel world with alot of bad people who do not understand that our children are the light of our lives. The minute you find out that kate has a second interview you only think the worst. STOP IT!!!! She loves her children and I could only see her doing whatever she can to get her daughter back.

Andrew, you evidently know squat about the libel and defamation laws in the UK (assuming this site is hosted in the UK). I’d happily defend the “asses” comment in a court. I don’t think some of the libel on this site would be quite so easily defended.
Bit touchy about the “self-appointed Sherlock” comment, eh?
You should be out there in Portugal, sorting it all out. Give the Portuguese a few tips so they can get it all fixed.

Let’s just wait and see. I really hope Madeleine will be found, on the other hand,
why was she not found till now? Sure thing is, the parents did not care for their children at all. You just do not leave, 2 year old siblings and her big sis of almost 4 years alone in a hotel flat. And checking every half hour is not enough. What if they all are starting crying. It is not good for them to miss the parents and it is not good for the other hotel guests.
I am a doctor’s child too and we never were left alone, except for one time where no babysitter was found for us. My older brother was 10 at that time and I was 6, my small brother 2 and a half. We were sitting the whole evening at the small brother’s bedside to watch him sleeping and my big brother had a telephone number to call, just in case. He was at that time already very experienced in telephone calls doing. So that was the only time we all remember till now, in fact very proudly. My parents by the way returned after 3 hours, my mother said, that she did not enjoy the event very much, because we were left alone at home.
I still hope for a very good outcome. Let’s just hope and pray.

I also think he needs to be educated on what a message board is. Or perhaps we should think about taking legal action against him re: asses remark. But wait! that wouldn’t be fair; he’s entitled to his opinion!
I find it interesting and compelling hearing everyones thoughts on this tough subject.

Its simple. If the police have evidence that she died in the room. The Maccann’s are likely guilty. If they do not, then they are likely innocent.
As for motive to the media. Your logic is sound, for a normal person in a normal situation. So, like you I can not comprehend why this would make any sense.
I also can not comprehend why anyone would murder their own child. Making sense of motive in any of this is not helpful.

It’s also rather ironic that people complain on the one hand about the role of the media and then use whatever little tidbit of half- full- or untruth they can find, through the media, to justify their little theories.
Judith, you evidently haven’t read the little ditties and limericks composed on a different thread on this blog.
The whole event has been a mawkish grimshow. But this website has added to it. I have no idea who is guilty. If Murat isn’t, I hope he sues everyone who said he was. If the McCanns aren’t, I hope they do the same. And they should start with this libel-rife website and its ISP.

I don’t think the McCanns are guilty of killing Madeleine. If they were guilty they would not have invited so much media attention, they would not have made such a big effort with the campaign and the travel and everything. They would have tried to keep it quiet.

whilst i dont think the McCanns are guilty I have wondered if the reason Gerry McCann is so vocal and “active” is because he didnt check on the children and snuck off elsewhere when he was supposed to be checking. I do think that kate McCann is genuinely grief stricken though.

I think that we should all be reserving judgement until we hear the outcome of the interviews. Kate and Gerry are being interviewed as witness’s not suspects at the moment. Until we hear otherwise I think the press have enough imagination for everyone. Surely everyone is innocent until proven guilty. It wont be long before all of us hear what the forensic evidence is. We should wait until we hear before we judge. Message for Madeleine….. I have prayed and thought of you continually, and I hope you are alive somewhere my darling….. and one day you do get to go home with your mommy and daddy.

The case has boiled down to 1 fundamental question;
Did the child die in the room?
If she did not, the parents are likely innocent. If she did, they are most likely guilty. There are 2 fundamental reasons why;
1. A clean up of evidence occurred if she died in the room. The parents were “checking” on the children every 30 minutes. Difficult to murder a child and scrub a scene inbetween the 30 minute checks.
2. If the dogs smelt a dead body, it needed to be there for 2 hours. If your checking every 30 minutes it would mean (for it NOT to be the parents) the killer would have had to Murder the girl, scrub the scene and hide the body somewhere, then come back for it and then remove it.
So. If the Dogs picked up a dead body smell and the DNA showed the girl’s blood. I think a/the parent(s) did it. She was killed before they even sat down for dinner that night. The eloborate 30 minute checking was staged to reduce any abandonment concerns and possibly even used to further clean the scene or remove the body. Motive? Anger/Temper/Accident and coverup.
Please may I be wrong.

Exactly! Caring parents don’t leave small children alone AT ALL, night or day. Anything can happen, and in Madeleine’s case, did. However, there’s far more to this story than Kate and Gerry McCann would have us believe as not only did they habitually leave their three children alone, they left the door open and when Mr. McCann allegedly returned to the flat ‘to check’ he found Madeleine’s bed empty and guessed she’d just ‘toddled off’ into their room. BUT HE DIDN’T BOTHER TO CHECK and just returned to the restaurant party. This alone out of all the other conflicting and damming evidence is enough to tell you that this couple are as guilty as hell.

Derek, I have many children, I don’t think it’s funny that Madeleine Mccann is missing. However, I did NOT leave her alone that night, I am NOT her parent, I am NOT responsible for her disappearance, I THINK she is probably dead, but I do NOT know this for fact.
I have shed many tears for Madeleine Mccann and other children like her, who go missing daily. Read “Every Five Minutes”. However, I have said all along, that caring parents don’t leave their children alone, and I will say it again. Caring parents don’t leave their children alone.
I would like to ask whether the £1,000,000+ that has so far been accrued in donations will be given back to the donors if/when Madeleine is found, or if/when the parents are found guilty of wrong doing.
I have read that Gerry Mccann is supposed to be furious that he has not been allowed to touch any of the money apart from that which has been paid to fund publicity aimed at finding Madeleine.
If one of my children went missing, I wouldn’t care about money.

The remark (9) is itself “silly” and fatuous, as people are not thinking the murder (or probable murder) of a small child is “funny”. There is a difference between fun and cynicism, and cynical is what I (and a lot of other people who’ve made comments here) have felt from the beginning when observing the McCann celebrity world-wide roadshow. “Methinks he doth protest too much!” to quote - I hope accurately - one of our greatest playwrights. The whole thing has never rung true, especially when one learned of government (our government) help and intervention in the shape of phone calls from Gordon Brown, sanctimonious utterances from Prince Charles and his Duchess, and the secondment of a government official to the McCanns in Portugal. Who is hiding what? Who is being protected? Why? Why this big deal? If the McCanns are found guilty I hope the whole facile, mawkish and sickening hypocrisy which surrounds parents and kids - none of whom can do wrong - collapses and the witch-hunt which is immediately set in process for the “loner” to blame the crime on is stopped in its tracks. This will be the biggest hoax of all time and I hope that the papers who have assiduously reported what they wanted us to know (i.e. that Robert Murat was guilty and the McCanns were holier than thou or I) report the truth finally.

Hey, thanks for the tips Mary. Do you sterilise the bottle first or is it ok with just a quick rinse? And just a thought - what about one of those daily tablet holders for the food? Bought quite cheaply from Betterware I believe.

SSS I regularly leave my 1 year old child for up to a week alone in her cot, without any issues to date.
I have made a hamster water bottle type device out of a large lemonade bottle that I strap to a bar of the cot for her fluid. I use a variety of rusks and rice cakes (weeks worth) that I also strap to the cot bars.
The only thing that can be slightly off putting when I get back is the horrendous smell of a weeks worth of excrement, I am working on a new device for that though.
So just to let you know can leave small children alone without to much trouble.
