Madeleine McCann: Call Off The Dogs, Kate McCann’s Tears And Fatima
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
THE TIMES page 9: “McCanns send to US for help against evidence of sniffer dogs.”
Gerry and Kate McCann have consulted lawyers working on behalf of Eugene Zapata in Madison, Wisconsin.
In October 1976, Zapata’s wife, Jeanette, went missing. Her body has never been found. Last year sniffer dogs were brought in and Zapata was charged with her murder. The case went before Judge Patrick Fielder who said the evidence – dogs had picked up the scent of a corpse in Zapata’s basement – was inadmissible. He said the dogs were unreliable.
The dogs have yet to make a comment.
DAILY MIRROR front page: “MADDY JUDGE: LET ME TELL ALL.”
Pedro Daniel dos Anjos Frias wants to “speak freely” about the case.
Pages 6 and 7: “Mum’s tears at 11am Mass.” Once again the Mirror is all eyes for Kate McCann’s eyes. She is crying.
In church, Father Keith Tomlinson narrates the parable of the Prodigal Son. An eight-year-old child called Molly Earp reads “Jesus please continue to love and protect us, until she is found.”
And then Jesus can have a rest and the police can resume normal duties…
Pages 8 and 9: “On the beach Gerry gave Maddy loads of hugs and kisses, he was a perfect dad..The next time I saw him was about midnight..I saw a man alone, desperate. He was crying and screaming her name over and over and over again.” Words from a “WAITER AT MADDIE’S LAST MEAL” before she vanished.
THE SUN front page: “Maddie ‘gag’ lift.” Friends of Kate and Gerry McCann are hopeful of being allowed to speak out and defend themselves. A judge has asked for a lifting of Portugal’s secrecy laws.
Pages 6 and 7: “AGONY TO COME.” The Sun produces a picture of Kate and Gerry McCann’s wedding day. They are holding Kate’s goddaughter Ellie. There is also a new picture of Madeleine McCann “looking angelic”. Have you seen her? Or are you watching the parents?
THE EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE. POLICE TO SEARCH SHRINE FOR BODY.” The McCanns went to Fatima. The McCanns car clocked up 1,709 miles in the fives weeks after their daughter went missing.
THE WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER Pages 2 and 3: “Hand in hand, McCanns go to family church.” The “devoutly Catholic couple” are leaving for church from their “£600,000 home”. Kate McCann is carrying Cuddle Cat.
Pages 4 and 5: “1,000 letters each day in support of the McCanns. Between 500 and 1,000 letters a day arrive at the McCanns’ home. “There are some crank letters,” says a spokesman for the family, “but that’s inevitable.”
None of these letters are believed to point to the whereabouts of Madeleine McCann.
Alex Cayles, a former neighbour of the McCanns, says “I never heard Kate or Gerry raise their voices to their children or anyone else.” Can the same be said of any parents of three very young children?
DAILY MAIL front page: a picture of Kate McCann smiling.
“MADELEINE:
• Doubt cast on sniffer dogs
• Police frontman quits investigation
• Branson funds the McCanns’ defence
• Witness’s vital new evidence”
Pages 10 and 11:2 “Maddie: Is the case crumbling?”
Chief inspector Olegario Sousa has resigned “in disgust” at the way in which fellow Portuguese officers have been briefing the media behind his back.
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE MUM ON MURDER RAP. Now cops claim to have found ‘a motive’.”
The Star says police have read Kate McCann’s diary and “claim it reveals she had a motive to kill”.
Pages 4 and 5: “DID KATE HAVE A MOTIVE?”
Well, we haven’t read the diary, but…
“The idea that Portuguese detectives are looking at my daughter’s most personal thoughts and taking them out of context is terrible,” says Kate McCann’s father Brian Healy.
Pages 6 and 7: “HUNT AT HOLY SHRINE.” Is Madeleine McCann’s body buried at Fatima, one of the Catholic Church’s holiest sites? The Star says the couple went there three weeks after their daughter went missing.
We wonder. Is she? Or is she buried in Germany, America, London or Morocco, places also visited by the McCanns?
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “New allegations against McCanns - As the McCanns begin a new campaign to clear their names, further allegations emerged over the weekend.”
Oh?
“The hire car: The Renault Scenic hired by the McCanns 25 days after Madeleine went missing. New claims centre on its high mileage. Between May 27 and July 3, it was driven 1,700 miles, with police looking into the possibility that it may have been used to dispose of a body…There were also reports that detectives were waiting for permission from a judge to seize and dismantle the car to search for ‘traces of skin’.”
THE GUARDIAN: No Maddy news today.

Furthermore - I wonder if your understanding of “privileged background” is the same as mine ? Usually that phrase illustrates someone who has been “privileged” enough to have lived off their parent’s money and inherited status, went to a school that was paid for rather than having achieved a place academically, whether they could handle it or not, and most of us here have had to work hard for everything we have, academically, socially and in every other way, so please think hard before you bandy that phrase about again.
September 20th, 2007 at 8:01 am
So now anyone who doesn’t believe in the McCann’s innocence is scum? What a moronic attitude. And from a ‘privileged background’ too! What’s that meant to mean? You went to public school? How wonderful for you. Shame they didn’t teach you the art of critical thinking.
On a sidenote, I see the Telegraph is launching a Gerry PR offensive. Apparently he’s a wonderful dad after all.

No we are not all “absolute scum of the Earth, socially, intellectually and morally ” There are a lot of us on here who would genuinley like to discuss stuff but unfortunately, it is the aforemenioned scum who slag each other off, come up with stupid, fatuous, irrelevant drivel to the extent that yesterday “Anorak’s” bandwith was full to cpaacity and “fell over” so no-one could get on, morons or otherwise.
Let’s try and keep to the topics under discussion and remember that everyone has their right to their opinion but not to just fill the forum up with personal attacks and such like, go to MSN live if you want to do that.

1038. Nice one Manon. I wondered if there’d be support on here but seems not. How stupid and nasty they will all look once this mess is sorted out.
September 19th, 2007 at 2:01 pm
I’d forgotten how much the people on this website - are the absolute scum of the earth socially, intellectually, morally.
Thank God I’m from a privileged background & don’t have to mix with you all.
Happy bleating!

Just wonder why we don’t hear much from the psychologists who can say something about the strange behavior of the McCanns. Oh I forgot….no press in the UK would print or broadcast it anyways. lol
Alright, I have just read an interview with a psychologist. He has dealt with parents whose children were abducted or killed. This is what he said:
The behavior of the McCanns are strange and differ from the typical behavior of parents in such a situation. In phases of grief and despair they withdraw themselves from the public and some even blame each other for not taking enough care of the missing child. The McCanns don’t show those typical symptoms. Their public appearance and PR are conspicuous. They would leave their twins behind to go on an Europe-tour while the other daughter is missing. Remarkable is also that they always look very harmonious. Being in such a phase they still have the strength to maintain an internet blog professionally. On this blog Gerry McCann was talking about his daily rountine, about the weather and their own clothes. Sometimes it gives one the impression of self-portrait.
When a child is abducted it is possible that the child is being hurt and killed. The parents are heatbroken and inconsolable to think of their child dying before them and the child is being abused and killed. Just having that fear they are about to go crazy and they usually try to distract by watching a little bit TV or get out of the house for a little bit. However, it’s extremelely strange to see the McCanns going jogging after 3 or 4 days their child disappeared or when the father Gerry Mccann said that if the search for his daughter lasted longer than a few months he needed a professional manager. What do you want to manage? In such a situation one needs a lot of comfort, help, and strength to deal with the situation. The last thing you need is a manager. Odd is also that Gerry McCann wrote that they were going to fight. What’s there to fight and why fight? When you are sad and desperate because the child is missing you usually say: “We try to keep up the hope until we know for sure what happen to the child”.
etc…. it’s getting too long for me to translate now….

Yeah, I think it stinks. Oh yeah, just ask the PM for assistance. I hope he’ll help them so the world can have a good laugh. I can’t believe this is happening in a democratic country like England…just look at the press and I really think I am in a communist or dictatorial country.
Just based on K&G McCann’s statements and their gut feeling they all are so very sure that those two are innocent. Of course they totally forget about that the same two abandoned and let their own kids down leading to an abduction of poor Madeleine (if it was an abduction, but I doubt it). They rather criticize the Portuguese police and jump all in to support the “poor” parents and make it look like it’s so normal and ok to let your little kids alone to go eat with your friends. Just for acting ignorant like that people from around the world are actually asking themselves what kind of people the British are.
This is getting ridiculous each day….
September 18th, 2007 at 11:23 pm
Dont you also think it odd that the ONE and probably ONLY person who by his own admission was with them constantly - visiting Famita - 14 hours a day with them etc. etc. in, I might add, a Government capacity is now EMPLOYED by them!!! That alone stinks in my opinion. Who is gonna grass on someone who is paying you a huge salary not to? Especially if you have burned your career bridges. When asked on the TV today how he got the job he said the McCanns approached him - There has to be some legal questions surely as this key witness to the movements of the McCanns at the crucial times - ie visiting Fatima and other trips out in the “car”, is now “in their pockets” as it were
September 18th, 2007 at 5:54 pm
I think it’s abot time there was balanced sensible commentary such as that coming from the UK media, who in my opinion have an obligation ot impartial balanced fact delivery
What’s going on in the gutter press is beyond belief.
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/GuiltyOrNot/signatures.html
In a truly democratic vote, whereby people are asked to make their chice known by means of voting (unlike aunty philly’s petition which gives no option other than the McCann option)all Pro McCann signatures and comments are left intact, they only serve to show the type of mentality employed by “team-mccann lovers” in that nothing they say in defence is an really actual reasonable statment.
Take away the “they are devout catholics” (so was hitler) “the PJ are framing them” down to your downright despicable “im a racist or just not too bright, the portugese are to blame” type of random bizarre quote.
look at the personal slur the occasional “petitioner” has left against me. some attempt to slur the police, and anyone else they can dream up to direct their mistruth rather than admit the McCanns could be possibly responsible….
As yourselves, is THAT the voice of reason? Hardly.
Thankfully they or a minority inbetween the majority of rational free thinking petitioners who clearly beleieve the McCann’s are nothing short of criminals
If you haven’t voted already, leave your signature
Thank you

Millions have contacted the Madeleine McCann appeal website. Who runs it? Three teenagers from Ullapool.
“Calum is already working on new ventures after spotting a market in missing-person websites. Last week he contacted the family of missing schoolgirl Rosemary Edwards, from Hampshire, after her father made an emotional TV appeal. He said: “I don’t think we should be making money out of it, but I would love to do more stuff like this. We phoned up to see if they wanted a website for that missing girl, but they haven’t called back.”

1026 On the Fence
Probably does lend weight, but also adds weight to Kate’s strange behaviour !! Why did she not ask one of the fiends to stay with the other two kiddies and run about like a headless chicken with Gerry ?? not stand on the balcony and watch ferchrissakes …!!

Does this lend credibility to the reports that Mrs. Fenn heard a child crying for “Daddy”?

18th September ? OK - I’m waiting……
Nothing will happen until the rains come and then Maddie will be found

The Shadow Knows,
Well, it is possible whether you realize it or not you could be on to something there. YES.
September 18th, 2007 at 8:16 am
Spudgun,
There is one exception that a planned death might not mean people don’t take a child to the creche. That would be if only one parent planned or even a sudden act. Remember, this is only in theory.
Oh well, it is too hard for ladies to think such thoughts. Now my nerves feel real shaky again just reading and thinking about all of this.
September 18th, 2007 at 7:35 am
Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men??? The Shadow knows!!!
There will be an announcement on the 18th of September - 6 + 6 + 6 (666)
News surrounding the case, unbeknownst to all others. A mystery person enters the investigation. Is he/she good or is he/she evil? Will they have damning evidence to put forth? To support the Portuguese Police theories or the McCann’s?? Will Madeleine have the final say? How will the British press react? Will they support the family? Or will they turn the tide?
Stay tuned for only……
The Shadow Knows!!

LOL!! Hey, You’re good!! I “reckon” I very much like you Wanderer. And thanks for responding - it’s more than I deserve according to Andrew and others as he suggests. I would give you a big hug if you were sitting next to me. So here’s a virtual hug. I said it before and I’ll say it again. You’re one smart cookie and a funny one at that!
As we poor pathetic Catholics say, Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa……for being “difficult” if that’s what you may think. It’s not my intent.
Me? I think YOU R fair and balanced and that you’d make a great Mid-East Peace Envoy! Have you submitted an application yet? Truly, I mean it with the utmost sincerity. I’ve yet to meet anyone on this forum that has your diplomacy or your negotiation skills. Quite impressed as they say… I hope you’ll rent the movie - Au Revoir Les Enfants. It’s truly wonderful.
1014 - ALLEGEDLY is right. I do like Wanderer though - LOVE is too strong of a word for me and I don’t throw it around too easily or often. YES, I know you were being facetious but I am being serious. LOVE don’t come easy.
Good nite to the world. I am feeling passionate as Wanderer said, so it’s high time I made good use of those passion reserves and jumped in the sack.
