Madeleine McCann: Call Off The Dogs, Kate McCann’s Tears And Fatima
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
THE TIMES page 9: “McCanns send to US for help against evidence of sniffer dogs.”
Gerry and Kate McCann have consulted lawyers working on behalf of Eugene Zapata in Madison, Wisconsin.
In October 1976, Zapata’s wife, Jeanette, went missing. Her body has never been found. Last year sniffer dogs were brought in and Zapata was charged with her murder. The case went before Judge Patrick Fielder who said the evidence – dogs had picked up the scent of a corpse in Zapata’s basement – was inadmissible. He said the dogs were unreliable.
The dogs have yet to make a comment.
DAILY MIRROR front page: “MADDY JUDGE: LET ME TELL ALL.”
Pedro Daniel dos Anjos Frias wants to “speak freely” about the case.
Pages 6 and 7: “Mum’s tears at 11am Mass.” Once again the Mirror is all eyes for Kate McCann’s eyes. She is crying.
In church, Father Keith Tomlinson narrates the parable of the Prodigal Son. An eight-year-old child called Molly Earp reads “Jesus please continue to love and protect us, until she is found.”
And then Jesus can have a rest and the police can resume normal duties…
Pages 8 and 9: “On the beach Gerry gave Maddy loads of hugs and kisses, he was a perfect dad..The next time I saw him was about midnight..I saw a man alone, desperate. He was crying and screaming her name over and over and over again.” Words from a “WAITER AT MADDIE’S LAST MEAL” before she vanished.
THE SUN front page: “Maddie ‘gag’ lift.” Friends of Kate and Gerry McCann are hopeful of being allowed to speak out and defend themselves. A judge has asked for a lifting of Portugal’s secrecy laws.
Pages 6 and 7: “AGONY TO COME.” The Sun produces a picture of Kate and Gerry McCann’s wedding day. They are holding Kate’s goddaughter Ellie. There is also a new picture of Madeleine McCann “looking angelic”. Have you seen her? Or are you watching the parents?
THE EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE. POLICE TO SEARCH SHRINE FOR BODY.” The McCanns went to Fatima. The McCanns car clocked up 1,709 miles in the fives weeks after their daughter went missing.
THE WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER Pages 2 and 3: “Hand in hand, McCanns go to family church.” The “devoutly Catholic couple” are leaving for church from their “£600,000 home”. Kate McCann is carrying Cuddle Cat.
Pages 4 and 5: “1,000 letters each day in support of the McCanns. Between 500 and 1,000 letters a day arrive at the McCanns’ home. “There are some crank letters,” says a spokesman for the family, “but that’s inevitable.”
None of these letters are believed to point to the whereabouts of Madeleine McCann.
Alex Cayles, a former neighbour of the McCanns, says “I never heard Kate or Gerry raise their voices to their children or anyone else.” Can the same be said of any parents of three very young children?
DAILY MAIL front page: a picture of Kate McCann smiling.
“MADELEINE:
• Doubt cast on sniffer dogs
• Police frontman quits investigation
• Branson funds the McCanns’ defence
• Witness’s vital new evidence”
Pages 10 and 11:2 “Maddie: Is the case crumbling?”
Chief inspector Olegario Sousa has resigned “in disgust” at the way in which fellow Portuguese officers have been briefing the media behind his back.
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE MUM ON MURDER RAP. Now cops claim to have found ‘a motive’.”
The Star says police have read Kate McCann’s diary and “claim it reveals she had a motive to kill”.
Pages 4 and 5: “DID KATE HAVE A MOTIVE?”
Well, we haven’t read the diary, but…
“The idea that Portuguese detectives are looking at my daughter’s most personal thoughts and taking them out of context is terrible,” says Kate McCann’s father Brian Healy.
Pages 6 and 7: “HUNT AT HOLY SHRINE.” Is Madeleine McCann’s body buried at Fatima, one of the Catholic Church’s holiest sites? The Star says the couple went there three weeks after their daughter went missing.
We wonder. Is she? Or is she buried in Germany, America, London or Morocco, places also visited by the McCanns?
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “New allegations against McCanns - As the McCanns begin a new campaign to clear their names, further allegations emerged over the weekend.”
Oh?
“The hire car: The Renault Scenic hired by the McCanns 25 days after Madeleine went missing. New claims centre on its high mileage. Between May 27 and July 3, it was driven 1,700 miles, with police looking into the possibility that it may have been used to dispose of a body…There were also reports that detectives were waiting for permission from a judge to seize and dismantle the car to search for ‘traces of skin’.”
THE GUARDIAN: No Maddy news today.

Dr. Kate handled 6 corpses before going on holiday……well OK. But why wear Tshirt & jeans when doing this and then take THEM on holiday? Remember those untrained dogs smelt death on these clothes. Slipping up a bit Kate, sorry if this upsets you (Yeah I bet) I just cant help thinking of that poor little mite.

its happened for years…. Thats why the paedophiles like to shack up in Asia! Though there are still many in Iberia because of the lack of a register.

still think it was the bloody rags in the boot of the car that left bodily fluids.

no one’s ever suggested they carried a body in the car for 25 days.
they HIRED the car after 25 days.
takes minutes to dump a body

588 - Jon, wires crossed old chap - my answer was directed at Paulette who was asking what should one say to the lower class family (it is unnecessarily distressing to bring classs into it) with a missing child who cannot get much if any air time or print coverage about their child’s abducction be done. I suggested that Paulette herself could help such wretched soles.
Do not know what help you stand in need of.

581 ~ Maicen….well i see it like this….do i think that mad mccgerry and his gorgeous wife are responsible for the disappearance of their wee beautiful and much loved eldest child…. honest answer is i do not know…. but i do believe the truth will out…. however, what i do know is they are guilty of child neglect…this is not an issue of opinion it is an issue of fact….. what i also think is that regardless of whether they were directly involved in her disappearance they are without doubt culpable in the disapearance of MM [see my other posts about them going out on the piss dar di dar]. And so all of their media manipulation is about smoke and mirrors… a full blown [and in my view a contemptuous and cynical] attempt to move the focus of this case away from their neglect. If you insist and maintain that MM was abducted and is still alive, then the logic is there can be no death and the only criminal is the Griffin …….. but where did it all go wrong in this master plan…. the internet thats where…. those who buy british papers may buy all that gullibility crap but thank god for Anorak thats what I say…. a place where free thinkers can express honest reasoned debate….. and for the record you the doubters out there and you know who you are…. the posts on anorak have been very accurate… yeah sure there are one or two cranky theories…. but be best rest assured when anything important happens in saga mccann you will have read it hear first

Hmmm. What qualifies you to judge their guilt?
At least he’s met and spoken to them to help his judgement. You don’t have a clue about them other than specualtion!

Everytime something like this happens in UK there is much made in the media about there not being a legal age at which children can be left, just guidelines, but there is a law that says if you leave your children and harm comes to them then you may be prosecuted for neglect.
However, it seems that this doesn’t apply when one is overseas. SO, can we now see an upsurge in British criminals commiting crimes in places where they may not be crimes and escaping justice?
EG paedo’s abusing children abroad - this is wrong wrong wrong!!! (Just my OPINION btw)
September 17th, 2007 at 4:59 pm
Yes Jon I agree. What next. Each new theory is even more bizarre than the last!
September 17th, 2007 at 4:59 pm
My opinion for finding either blood or bodily fluids in the boot of the car is that after cleaning up blood etc from the apartment, they put the cleaning rags in the boot of the car and DNA came from the bloody rags.

567 Moderation…..
Branson the spin off PR for himself .What qualifies him to judge their innocence of these people. ?
It is his speculation, that is all..which he, like us, is entitled to..but to even dare suggest he is doing it because they cannot get a fair trial in Portugal is disingenuous and a tad arrogant in backing tabloids in their ” Smear PJ Campaign.”
September 17th, 2007 at 4:55 pm
Stan
if the Mcanns as you say were under suspicion from the begining how do you explain them being able to cart a dead body around in the Renault for 25 days. When the general public found this to be too much too swallow they changed their theory that they hired a boat and sailed out to sea and back on time for tea down at the Tapas restaurant with the twins asleep - drugged ?
What next?
September 17th, 2007 at 4:55 pm
564 I have to say that I don’t think a family without all those things would have left 3 such tiny tots alone. It is the arrogance of the nouveau riche that leads them to do grossly stupid things, thinking their pseudo middle class lifestyles will protect them.
September 17th, 2007 at 4:54 pm
There seem to be a keen interest in psychic intervention on some forums - I must tell you this.
Last night I had the most vivid dream - there was a field - a corn field - and there in the middle was two people - desperately clutching at the straws. Suddenly a combine harvester came along and didnt see them - they were scooped up into the blades and came out with the chaff - desperate not to be fed to the animals - they crawled upto a huge mansion and asked for help - the lord of the manor wanted to publicise the opening of his mansion to the public - so he took them in and told the papers. Suddenly a flash of lightening caused a huge flash of light and god appeared - he scoulded the lord for assisting the two people - “they should not have been hiding in that field” he said - “you will be cast aside by mankind” The lord went bankrupt because lowly people did not want to go to his mansion - the one that saved the “straw clutching trespassers” THEN I WOKE UP. This dream HAS to be relevant

Also, anyone under 16 cannot be out after midnight without a parent. This is the law in Ontario. That means anyone under 16 can be out until 11:59 pm.
September 17th, 2007 at 4:52 pm
Paulette Class, education and skin color (and of course nepotism) feature only in the minds that are affected by them. If someone with money doesnt use what resources are available to them is it not a greater crime than to not use them?
Would it be better if they said well because Joe and Mary cant afford to run a campaign to find their child maybe we shouldnt?
September 17th, 2007 at 4:52 pm
419 Impressed.
I am impressed.
Why do they not explain what motivates this very odd behaviour.?
September 17th, 2007 at 4:52 pm
right in the very beginning the PJ stated that it was not a crime to leave the children as they were on the property….
as I said, it’s done all the time in hotels in Iberia…. main culprits for leaving their children in hotel rooms are German, Dutch and of course Brits. Common practice so if the police want to prosecute the McCanns they’ll have to run the gauntlet of every hotel in the Algarve arresting toursits non-stop.
September 17th, 2007 at 4:51 pm
564 - Paulette I agree although not about the skin colour part..I think if it happened to any family without the McCanns money/connections/respectable professions they would not be given the time of day by the papers…
I also think if it were a family without all of these things they would have been under serious suspicion long before the McCanns were…
September 17th, 2007 at 4:50 pm
565 That cold winter/frostbite has put me off completely
Reason why I think the Teflon 2 are guilty…..guilty of what?
Child neglect:-
1. They left their children alone on more one occasion as admitted by themselves in a press conference just after Madeleine disappeared.
2. I need no other reason, they admitted their guilt.
Gross Stupidity:- (which proves Real Stig or Real Stink or whatever your name is that intellect is different from commonsense, and that commonsense is more IMPORTANT than being EXTREMELY intelligent)
1. See reason 1 above.
2. Do I really need to say more?!

Postscript for those who like conspiracies:
“Universal McCann, the media buyer, recently estimated that more than 50 per cent of UK respondents to an online survey said they had read a blog within the last six months and about 20 per cent had posted comments on their own.”
Anyone care to invstigate any connections between our suspects, this media company, Mitchell, and the MMU. Is it just mentioned here by coincidence ?
Sorry Mods and Admin - I must intervene here and set the record straight.
Correction: Universal McCann is not a mere “media buyer”. Media buying is only ONE component of what this American agency dating back to 1902 offers today. It is the overall umbrella company to many full service ad agencies - the largest being McCann Worldwide - and part of the IPG - Interpublic Group conglomerate. The name “McCann” Comes from McCann Erikson - founded in 1902 and one of the original “Madison Avenue” advertising agencies. In addition to Media buying, Media Planning, Strategey, PR communications, McCann has been known for it’s formidable creative work leading the industry in some of THE most successful advertising campaigns in print, radio and TV over the last 100+ years.
The Mccanns being discussed on this forurm are not even in the same league as this agency and it’s founders who are held with the utmost respect in the Advertising Industry, worldwide.

1): Seem to show no remorse or sorrow whatsoever.
2): Have engineered a campaign that is focused on them, not their daughter.
3): Seem reluctant to consider anything the PJs suggest, upon becoming Arguido they leg it and hire an extradition expert. Claim they’re being set up to rally public behind them, when reality is they did it, go to court, get sent down, public cry miscarriage of justice.

Paulette
I can guarantee that 99% of child abductions are from the city, of which I do not live anywhere near, and most abductions are committed by family members. And yes, the legal age for children to be left alone in Canada is 10 years old. I could legally leave my kids for hours, not that I ever did. But I do leave my two 13 year olds and my 14 year old alone while I work and they are on holidays. My 14 year old can get a job if she applied for one. She takes care of my store when I have appointments.

557 their statements for the evening were all contradictory. The never showed the slightest interest in following up Maddie sightings - that is they went to Huelva when the Belgians really believed they’d spotted her, during the last 4 months all they ever did was get photographed, and never doing anything constructive. That’s the first 3 that come to me, but I could go on forever, including the really alarming statistic that children more often meet harm at the hands of a relative than a complete stranger

1,they admit to neglecting their child and instead of feeling racked with guilt jut out their jaws and defend themselves even though their daughter remains missing, when most of us would have been suicidal and inconsolable in our guilt.
2, their whole media obsession which is self promoting rather than campaigning for their daughter alive/or dead by this stage most parents of missing children need to know what happened even if it is the worse case scenario. They seem to dissaprove of any investigating along the lines she is dead, why?
3, I dont believe the tappas 9 days/night stories are true and with no creche cctv evidence shown of the missing hours its fishy!
Why if there was any cctv of that day arent they pleading for it to be used like every other missing person/police does
