Madeleine McCann: Clarence Mitchell Speaks, Make Madeleine History And Breastfeeding

DAILY MAIL pages 10 and 11: “Madeleine cried for 18 hours a day. Kate tells of the special bond forged in the painful days of early childhood.”
Kate McCann is speaking with Portuguese magazine Flash!. This interview took place before Kate McCann was named as a suspect in Madeline’s disappearance. Kate says the first six months with Madeleine were “very difficult”. Madeleine had colic. “I had to carry her around permanently,” says Kate.
What does it mean, this interview that has “emerged”? That what you tell magazines can be taken out of context and used in evidence against you, or something else?
THE TIMES page 9: “McCanns go straight to the top in search for powerful backers.”
Gordon Brown is being kept abreast of the investigation on Kate and Gerry McCann, possibly by reading the British press and watching the news bulletins.

The McCanns have a new spokesman. He’s called Clarence Mitchell. He resigned as head of the Government’s Media Monitoring unit to take this new post.
Mr Mitchell once offered: “There’s a whole level of debate taking place online which simply didn’t exist before and departments feel they need to be fully engaged in that.”

Clarence Mitchell says: “They have nothing whatever to do with Madeleine’s disappearance.” And as the McCann’s new spokesman he should know.
Pages 4 and 5: “RAY OF HOPE.”
Madeleine has not been found but Kate and Gerry McCann will not have to fly back to Portugal for more questioning.
On the downside sales of the “Look for Madeleine” wristband are not going well in Portugal. In “LOCALS REJECTS ‘FIND HER’ BRACELETS,” this year’s Make Poverty History band is being turned down at a car boot sales in Praia da Luz.
Says one ex-pat: “It’s as if they want to forget something so horrible happened.” Or buy something less with their money?
Says another: “We can’t understand how they can carry on jogging after losing Madeleine. Gerry went to a hairdressers a few weeks after she disappeared and continued tennis lessons. The Portuguese feel they should b hysterical.” But not the British, who understand reserve…
THE SUN front page: “MADDIE COPS SLAPPED DOWN. KATE BACKED BY JUDGE. Mum won’t be hauled back to Portugal.”
Judge Pedro Anjos Frias rejected Portuguese police calls for the McCanns to return. “He is thought to have ruled the case to flimsy to justify the move.” Or, to put it another way, he has not received sufficient evidence to be convinced of the need for a trial.
Pages 4 and 5: “COPS CASE COLLAPSING.”
And: “McCanns tell Brown: We have solid defence.” Gordon Brown’s reaction to this news is not known.
THE INDEPENDENT page 32: Thomas Sutcliffe says the disappearance of Madeleine McCann has been “yoked by journalists to another kind of story – the primal faction of fairytale”. Here “the beautiful child is swallowed by something that has emerged from the dark”.
It is, is it not, every child’s worst nightmare.

“Cops set to name them as suspects.”
Pages 6 and 7: “BRIT PALS ALL SUSPECTS.”
The Tapas 9 are in the frame. This will put the lid – the tapas – on the case. Right?
“Maddie cops jet to UK as group face grilling” – Portuguese police are “planning” to come to the UK to continue the investigation. British police will conduct interviews.
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 8: “McCanns to be interviewed by British police.”
Kate and Gerry are also keen to reach Gordon Brown. A source tell the paper: “The McCanns do not expect help or influence to be exerted on their behalf but want to get messages to the very top that they are innocent.”
Does Brown read the Telegraph?
THE GUARDIAN page 35: “Never mind the high street: Branson sells his Virgin Megastores.”
No mention of Madeleine McCann, granted, but this news one day after Branson pledged to help the parents clear their names looks like interesting timing?

Tanner looks very evil. The photo of her looks more like a prison inmate’s mug shot than an everyday ordinary citizen shot. She would look quite nice in pinstripes or an orange jump suit.
Looking at Russell O’Brien in one of the photos next to her, I can understand why he wanted to swing that night. And why they are not married - just cohabitating. Surely, he can do much better than that. I’m almost 10 years older than that frumpy looking lowlife bithc, but you’d never know it. She looks likes she’s approaching 50 not 40.

Speaking to a work colleague at lunchtime, she was of the opinion that the Teflon 2 will NEVER stand trial due to UK government fawning over them even if the body of MM turns up in the understairs cupboard with polaroids and video PROVING the Teflon 2 were involved!

God, I think they’ve actually made me spiteful - I’m that annoyed with this press onslaught I’d be happy if the McCanns were guilty.

In my opinion, we have extracted the maximum from the “evidence” so far distributed. Better now wait for the new wave under the new rules.
In order to counter the latest deluge of sanctification, and now we know for certain that we are being read in high places, may I suggest that we concentrate our discussion on the simple issue of child neglect. This seems solidly established, and is apparently a crime under portuguese law regardless of any bigger charges.
My questions are
1) Is it correct that there are witnesses who claim that the Tapas9 were seen partying without there children on several previous nights ?
2) Is it correct that on some of these occasions they were much further away from the apartments housing their children ?
3) Is it correct that witnesses dispute their claims of regular visits to check on these children.
4) Is it correct that only one couple used a baby-monitoring service on the final night ? And on other nights ?
I cannot know whether the PJ have been asking these questions, and establishing the answers, but frankly I believe they should. It seems likely that at least 6 of the Tapas9 are guilty of criminal neglect under Portuguese law. An immediate prosecution of all six on this basis, whilst the more difficult investigation takes its course, would calm and focus the situation, and defuse further spin by the McCann’s immaculate PR machine, aimed at convincing the world of their utter blamelessness.
With a clearcut unarguable conviction for child neglect under their belt, world opinion would be slower to rush to blind prejudgement of the bigger issues.
It might also be easier to force the McCanns return to Portugal, if called to answer such simple direct charges. Upon which the other questions could perhaps be put.
Put the big stuff on the back burner till things calm down. Charge all 6 with child neglect immediately if the evidence supports it.

369 ~ Stevo … that’s true which is why i don’t buy into them being swingers.. why because the very act of being swingers can [but i accept not exclusively] bring you into sexual contact with people who are not described as close family friends. The tapas 9 appear mainly to be contacts thru the medical rather than sexual scene. So imagine you had been the swingers with the world renowned beautiful mccanns… fk me [excuse the pun] you’d be collecting your gazzillion bucks from NoTW ….

With all due respects, your tactic is called ‘moving the goal posts’ - demanding ever tighter and more onerous standards of proof with each iteration of reposté.
I am not playing that one. You asked for links and I provided them. If you doubt the sources integrity or accuracy send them emails asking for ‘their’ proof - don’t volley it back asking me to do the legwork.

Have you heard the McCanns speak? I am not an expert on regional and class accents that exist in the UK but reading comments here, I think it has been generally acknowledged that they are likely from working class backgrounds. This of course does not preclude the possibility they might have inherited enormous wealth but the mention of their having a substantial mortgage would tend to suggest that they don’t have substantial funds available.

359 The rumours came from the Portuguese tabloids I believe…and haven’t been substantiated anywhere else.
My guess is the locals found it strange that these couples ate and drank seperately from their kids each evening (latins would be more likely to have them at the table even if late)…..and the rest is conjecture.

I see the Daily Mirror says:
“Are you still completely convinced of the McCanns’ innocence? Or are you one of those sad, spiteful souls - and there are plenty of them - who is asking for a refund of the money you donated to the Find Madeleine fund?”
I don’t think asking for a refund is spiteful. After all, isn’t there a Trade Description Act? People only want what it said on the tin and were clearly duped into parting with money under false pretences.

It is reported that the Portuguese Judge has received permission to release evidence to the press, so perhaps soon some of these leaks/rumours we have been analysing may soon become official facts.
I look forward to it.
My fear is that somehow the McCann camp will have been awarded the right to censor/filter what we are allowed to hear. And, even worse, no will be allowed to tell us that they are doing it.
We really need someone who can tell us EXACTLY what the new rules on eveidence release are. Otherwise how can we rationally evaluate what is released ?
