Madeleine McCann: Missing Hours, Found Again And A PR Disaster
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
THE SUN front page: “MADDIE DAD AGONY. Fiend hid from Gerry. He was already in room he tells cops.”
A source close to the family says: “When Gerry went to check on Madeleine at 9.05pm he realised the bedroom door was open. Gerry is firmly of the view the abductor was already in the apartment.”
It’s another theory.
“When he went in he saw Madeleine was asleep but the bedroom door was slightly open. He thought, ‘That’s odd’ because he had left it firmly closed. But all the children were asleep. So he just went in and closed the door again and came out about 9.10pm.”
Good to hear Gerry McCann joining in the mood of speculation?
“Gerry is convinced the man must have been hiding, and once Gerry went through the patio doors the only way out was through the window. The front door was locked so the kidnapper took Madeleine and climbed out the window.”
DAILY MIRROR front page: “HOW SHE WAS TAKEN. The McCanns’ story.”
“Stolen to order after being spied on for days
Abductor hid in flat as Gerry looked in on kids
He got in through patio doors and out by window”
Gerry is a “heart specialist”.
Says a source: “When Gerry leaves, the man realises he has only a few minutes. He thinks the only way to get out without being seen is through the window.”
And: “Initially he thought Madeleine might have got up and gone to the toilet, or to get a drink or something.”
So what has changed? Why a new theory now, with a new spokesman on hand and the McCanns named as suspects?
DAILY STAR front page: “SEVEN HOURS TO KLILL MADDIE. Police probe her ‘lost’ final afternoon”
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE: THE MISSING SEVEN HOURS.”
Police sources reveal that “despite exhaustive inquiries they cannot confirm the whereabouts of part-time GP Kate, 39, and her daughter after 1.29pm on May 3”. A source said Kate’s movements were “unaccounted for until she sat down to have dinner with friends at a tapas restaurant within their holiday complex at around 8.40pm”.
The last photograph of Madeleine was said to have been taken by Kate at 2.29pm on May 3.
DAILY MAIL: “McCanns: What we really did in the missing six hours.”
“Madeleine had high tea at 5.30pm with staff at the Kids Club. She was picked up shortly before 6pm by Kate and Gerry.”
The friend insisted: “Kate was never alone with Madeleine that afternoon. There were always other witnesses present. These details were all given to detectives during police interviews, so they know what Kate and Gerry said happened that day.”
So no missing hours, then?
THE TIMES front page: “MADELEINE McCANN: Matthew Parris laments a PR disaster.
“The fatal flaw of David Cameron and Kate and Gerry McCann” - Our correspondent looks at the baleful influence of the marketing men.
“Look what they’ve done to Kate and Gerry McCann. Here were two people deserving of the most intense public sympathy. On a superficial level they got it – by the media bucketload. Yet did you not sense from an early stage an undertone of irritation at the couple? I’ve sensed it everywhere I go: not a sign of doubt about their innocence, which most of us take for granted, but a feeling, nevertheless, that they in some way invited trouble – though we banish the thought as brutal and wrong.
“Which it is. So why the ungenerosity? I believe it is because Kate and Gerry McCann have allowed an impression to arise that they and their advisers are marketing their own tragedy. Where we would have expected to see parents distracted and disorganised by grief, we have seen a professionally run campaign to find out what the media want, and give it to them.
“This has been done for a most defensible reason: to enlist the entire European public as amateur detectives in the search for Madeleine. But now her parents have ended up looking like film stars in a Hollywood weepy.”
“Put up or shut up, Madeleine McCann police told” - Friend of McCanns counters claims of ‘lost’ six hours before girl vanished
DAILY TELEGRPAH: “Madeleine McCann: Gerry certain he was in bedroom with kidnapper”
THE GUARDIAN: “From prime suspects to hounded victims - how parents turned the media tide”

I think all pro mc canns
have issues with dubious care and desisions for their kids
If they can rationalise wilfil neglect/sedating and killing children as just a parental blimp then they must be just as careless with their own
A bit like nicking biros from work
we all do it dont we?
Its nothing!
YES IT IS!!!!
September 23rd, 2007 at 12:01 pm
Oh dear. How depressing. I see the ‘We are 100% innocent’ brigade are out in force already.
Please please will Maria or Moderation explain why the McCanns left three children under the age of 4 in an unlocked flat - by choice - and when there were other options available.
I know facing this fact is unpalatable but it is the one from which EVERYTHING else hangs.

Breaking news
In a dramatic new twist in the McCain had your chips case, the blood-stained iPod found in a black plastic bag on a dump near an animal crematorium thought to be owned by exiled General Pinochet of Chile has undergone further forensic examination. Previous analysis ruling out a link to the McCannClan, including the shuffle folder containing It’s Time to Cry, has been thrown into doubt.
In another folder, recordings of It’s Now or Never, It’s Over and Please Release Me have prompted investigators to open a new line of enquiry

Ade…… They are on unpaid leave. haven’t resigned and can’t be sacked because they haven’t done anything wrong.
Nothing to stop either of them going back to work tomorrw if they wanted!
Now off you go and have another little paddy….
Judge Dread… why shouldn’t someone who truly believes in the McCanns support them? isn’t that democracy? Frredom of choice to do what one wants with ones own money.

For me the major indication of an issue of vast magnitude is the Vatican removing their names from their website.
The Vatican has a vast information network.
Is it true their names were on, and if they were taken off is it because everything just remains there for a short while.
Or could the young priest from Praia have gone to seniors to tell of a confession that rattled him.
And in that removal from the website, without saying a word, the Church has spoken.
Does anyone know anything substantial about this.
And if the British government is apparently aiding the couple, why not the church?
On what terms are Israel and the Vatican?
Oh sorry I don’t know where that came from?

Hi moderation
Are the fragrant couple on a sickie from the NHS? If so they’d better watch out if they are healthy enough to travel about meeting businessmen/politicians/lawyers in a desperate attempt to save their wretched necks.
Are they taking annual leave? 4 months - nice work if you can get it.
Are they dipping into the buy a pile on the Caymans sorry find maddie fund?
Have they “resigned” or been sacked? We should be told…

Nice one and that’s why they are here on a Sunday instead of being at the Lodge - oops sorry church. Triple time rates too and no tax - cash in hand my son.
And that’s why they are so rattled.
Katiepoos has already cracked - anyone seen a recent live appearance? Osama bin Laden’s PR is more recent… And he was dead years ago, allegedly.

Wot the fragrant couple face charges? Why Dr Watson you seem to be one of the few McCannics who has remembered they are the only suspects! Cripes they could be in hot water here. Tell the rest of the team to think again about the Pinochet extradition lawyer as a choice. He lost one nil that time…
Must admit Cuddles got me last night. trying to reach up on the shelf, Cuddles fell off, some nice sweeties fell out and became all drowsy…
Keep Cuddles away from the lovely Kate - we don’t want her nodding off when they want answers to the 40 questions. Don’t want Cuddles Cat to get Katiekin’s tongue - bad PR…
It’s probably 140 now thanks to their expert PR campaign…

Shew the sums on the spam protection just got a whole lot more difficult.
Had to get the kids to add up for me.
Was following discussion on another forum and someone made a very interesting comment about Brian Kennedy’s involvement.
She mentioned that the forces of darkness are coming out to protect the Mcs in vast numbers. There is not even any subtlety in it.
I mean David Kellys murder oh sorry suicide just died out despite compelling evidence.
These are the forces that make truth impossible - that is until forums such as these could analyse and detect and discuss and basically brainstorm.
I find it fascinating how many intelligent people are so involved in this case.
And how many different angles are involved.
It makes me realise how the PJ must be looking at what is said on these sites - eg photo manipulation etc. and how they have these volunteers (us) working for them.
But how would the PJ manage on their own against this huge propaganda machine, of single origin if it were not for people like you.
For the first time I think people can empower themselves and in a way confront the forces of control and domination under the guise of democracy.
I personally feel powerless politically, and this is the first hope I have seen for a long time that truth can prevail just by the sheer force of numbers.
The internet is the only place that the global elite and their puppets cannot control.
That having been said I do hope there are no major solar flares soon - we all know how they mess up on line activities.

Nice one Boycott anyone who sponsors child neglect and cover-ups. My Labour vote just went out of the window. It’s Official Monster Raving Loonie for me…
Watch out for the detail on the ballot paper and the doorstep campaign - Monster Raving Loonie could be a McCannic out canvassing while their kids are drugged up at home…

Didn’t stay long though did she? With a million quid to spend in hotels too - after all she was SO convinced. She should have stayed until she could return with Maddie. She didn’t because she knew she was dead and Morocco was one of hundreds of sightings that they knew could never be genuine.
After all the world tour and sainthood/denial calleth…
September 23rd, 2007 at 11:20 am
Maria… nice piece. I too am researching ‘trial by internet’.
Does anyone here remember how Colin Stagg was villified and his life ruined because ‘man on the street’ decided he had killed Rachel Nickel?
Hmmmmmmmm. He hadn’t. He was set up.
Can you just imagine what that would have been like if ‘man on the street’ had had internet access then?
September 23rd, 2007 at 11:17 am
Maybe we should blitz the Sale Sharks Commercial and Marketing Director Nathan Bombrys with e-mails for the attention of Brian Kennedy, urging him not to support parents whose gross negligence and lies led to them being made suspects. It was after all their actions that led to Madeleines abduction and all the speculation about them.
September 23rd, 2007 at 11:16 am
Ade said….So why didn’t they go to Morocco if she was so convinced?
They did you silly billy! learn to read…

well I don’t see anything good happening for the only suspects in this murder case. They are clearly going in separate ways. She has found a backbone at last and has access to enough loot to shake loose of dominating gerrykins. I can’t see them being together as a couple for long either.
So why didn’t they go to Morocco if she was so convinced?
Why have they changed their story about sightings and their yet again? Their excuse for swanning around was that they were leaving follow-ups to local police. Today’s version is that they blame PJ for not following up on Morocco police’s job on that sighting. So which is it?
In McCannLand things may be different but in the real world the police from on country tend to stick to their own territory.
She’s dead and tapas 9 are up to their necks in it… End of story. That wasn’t bullying, just disagreeing with you and the rest of the junta…
Any answers?

….and everyone else with any sort of balanced view!
Yes, you are, sadly, correct.
Of course, like everyone else who has looked rationally at this, I believe the evidence in the public domain points to the McCanns’ innocence. However, although, like you, I have decided it is a waste of time to use this forum, it’s not because bullies have made me leave. No way!
I realise this morning that, outside this forum, reason is prevailing. The McCanns’ public position is going from strength to strength. Have you read the article in the Telegraph? “Smears, slander and dirty tricks”? (I know it’s only another newspaper article but as worthy of being taken notice of as others people may have read in recent weeks! The authors are very close to the case.)
It is written by Olga Craig and David Harrison in Praia da Luz, and traces carefully the development of the anti-McCann smear campaign. Exactly as we thought. AND it traces de Sousa’s embarrassment with what what happeneing and his knowledge that the so-called “evidence” was flimsy and would be sharply and intelligently rebutted by the McCanns. There are early indications that Portuguese politicians are dismayed themselves at what has gone on and that something will happen soon to rectify things. The changes in the secrecy laws should help to ensure that such a disgraceful smear campaign should not happen again because journalists shouldn’t have to bribe junior police oficers again to give them titbits of rubbishy “news” in crime cases, only to deny most of them the next day!
An article worth reading, for once. And there are a lot of others in other papers. No point in trying to discuss them though!
I think I’ve almost revised my opinion yesterday that the McCanns’ advisers should stop their own leaks. The press today seems almost united in thinking that the fight back is not before time. I don’t like the leaks system but maybe, if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em!
However, as you wisely note, Moderation, reason, balance, debate etc. may seem a waste of time on this forum. But it doesn’t really matter, does it? Innocence and honesty will, hopefully, prevail and these unfortunate parents will be left to continue their desperate search or to come to terms as best they can with a dreadful loss.
I had a major interest, connected with my work, in looking at this forum not just for the case itself but for the legal aspects. (Libel. Public defamation of character. Vicious hate campaigns conducted in a public forum. The prevention of fair trials. The place of internet chat rooms. Cyber bullying. etc.) My interest in this subject began with the disgraceful trial-by-media of Robert Murat (when I hadn’t even heard of Anorak) and developed further with the appalling hate-campaign and smears against the McCanns.
That’s what I’m to concentrate on now. No need to worry about the McCanns’ innocence. That will soon be fully established. Those who know the McCanns well, those who have worked closely with them over the past few months, those who were with them on 3rd May, those who have cast even a cursory eye over the so-called “evidence”, those who understand forensics (read what the Birmingham lab is now saying! They may even refuse to send more results to Portugal because of the misuse made of them to date), those who understand the law, and that includes of course disinguished Portuguese lawyers, know very well that the McCanns are innocent.
What we have to do now is look at what can be allowed in terms of free speech in such cases. We need to look seriously at the role of the internet in all this. We need to re-evaluate what the press may, and may NOT do in cases like this. Free speech is fine. We need it but it must have some limitations put on it.
By the way, I wondered when my name would be mocked!!! It’s ALL a CATHOLIC conspiracy? Er… well, no, we mean it’s all a FREEMASON conspiracy! Er.. well, no, it must be a JEHOVAH WITNESS conspiracy? Er… well, there’s that ANGLICAN priest in Praia da Luz and the Archbishop of York too? Heaven knows who’s conducting the conspiracy??!!
Let’s grow up!
Well, I’ll go and collect my final payement from Team McCann!!!!!!!!!! I wish!!!!!!!!!

So now we find gerrykins was the one who wanted to leave Portugal when PJ turned up the heat while she didn’t - he wants to go back now while she doesn’t
The story about letting local police deal with sightings has changed now to PJ should have dealt with the Morocco sighting
She knew all along it was Morocco. Did she get of her arse and go? No because she was leaving sightings follow-ups to local police.
team McCann is surely rattled…

Apologies if this may have been posted or referred to.
I like the idea that cracks are beginning to appear. The only strength the tapas 9 conspirators have is to stick together, after all. Their lies are their fundamental weakness. Brilliant news.
