Madeleine McCann: Robert Murat Innocent, Private Detectives & Kate McCann’s Hot Lips
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY MIRROR front page: “WE’LL FIND HER OURSELVES. Maddy parents bring in SAS private detectives”.
Kate and Gerry McCann have hired Control Risk Group, billed as a “crack security firm”, to find their daughter.
Page 5: “THE PROFESSIONALS” – There’s TV show in this. The Portuguese police could be the Keystone Cops, at least that’s what the tabloid press portrays them as.
“Millionaire ex-double glazing boss” is the mystery benefactor paying McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell’s wages. The former window cleaner owns Sale Sharks ruby union club. Look out for their new sponsor.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE. ‘McCanns ARE LYING’ - Portuguese police says friends are in cover-up.”
Robert Murat is to be told he will not face charges. Kate and Gerry McCann will be the only named suspects.
“SMILING” – The WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPERS leads with a picture of Kate McCann grinning.
Pages 4 and 5: “Kidnap? We just don’t; believe it.” It is reported in Portugal that an unnamed Irishman has come forward to say he was in the same place as the McCanns’ friend Jane Tanner. She told police she had seen a man carrying child dashing from the Ocean Club resort in the direction of Robert Murat’s home. The new witness says he saw no-one.
“’GUILT’ OF PARENTS - More than 60 per cent think the couple know what has happened to Madeleine.”
“WHEN KATE WAS HOT LIPS HEALEY” – 15 YEARS AGO Kate was nicknamed hot lips for her resemblance to Loretta Swit in TV comedy M*A*S*H. The Express has seen her Dundee University year book and the comments - “Kate was great fun”; “renowned for alcoholic binges and some ‘dance till you drop’ nocturnal activities”; “she was certainly more interested in going to the pub than she was in her studies” etc.
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE: PARENTS ARE LYING. Cops say McCanns & friends tried to frame suspect Murat.”
Pages 4 and 5: “McCANNS ‘ARE LYING’.”
A phone poll: “DO YOU BELIEVE THE McCANNS ARE LYING?” Let’s see if we can top that 60 per cent in the Star’s sister paper the Daily Express. Vote now and vote often.
THE SUN pages 12 and 13: “TWIN’S LIFT FOR MUM AND DAD.”
Kate and Gerry McCann are with son Sean. They have been to Mass. Kate sobs when Ave Maria is sung. Daughter Amelie is in nursery school. She is plying with the Cuddle Cat. She bursts into laughter, “her giggles rang around the building”.
DAILY MAIL front page: “Madeleine:
• Ex-SAS team joins hunt
• New sighting in Morocco
• Kate breaks down in church
• Police accused over forensics”
Page 8: “McCanns hire an ex-SAS team to hunt for Maddie.”
“Second witness supports sighting in Morocco” – Remember when Marl Pollard said she saw Madeleine in Morocco? Now we lean that a man also saw Madeleine in Morocco.
THE INDEPENDENT PAGE 17: “Murat no longer suspect.”
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 10: “McCanns hired detective firm with ex-SAS men”. Under Portuguese law, the McCanns are not permitted to carry out their own investigation in Portugal. But they can investigate in other countries.
THE TIMES front page: “McCann investigators” – McCanns hire private security firm.
Pages 12 and 13: “How they managed to turn campaign around.” The McCanns are “winning the propaganda war”. They have gone on the “offensive”.
A family source says: “It is for the police to prove they are guilty.”
GUARDIAN: No Madeleine news today.

244 Firestar, I just don’t think it feasible that all the Tapas 9 are in on it. I cannot imagine that you would trust that many people to retain a secret and remain accurate in their stories. The more people involved, the more involved the story, and the more possible chance that someone cracks or slips up.
The only way I can imagine that they are all in it is if they are some deranged circle of people who had pre-meditated this, but I see this as completely far-fetched.
248 Stevo, why would they arrange to hand Madeleine over? I certainly think the hoax theory is “ludicrous”, and surely there are more simple ways to get rid of an unwanted child.

What has 146 to do with your link? He/she stated only that sightings are a common thing in missing people cases. It wasn’t specificaly about Marocco.

firestar… you are so good at taking things out of context. read my previous post. In fact all of them…
the first thing I said when it came on the news at the time was ‘whatever were they doing leaving children alone…..’ I’ve said all along it was wrong….
However, that doesn’t make any difference to the fact that, however you or I may view it, it happens.

if the book is actually called ‘no stone unturned’
i will be gobsmacked.

Back up and look at my link to the video of the fall. Don’t look at stills from the video because stills make no sense and you could believe anything by looking at those. The video clearly shows the fall was insignificant.

Indeed so, they either did it or they didn’t. Perhaps we could ask them - will call this afternoon and put it to them (after Court). So I am not at cross purposes, with you old chap - please particularise “it”.
Now I really do have to go what what

today’s express front page.
In Portugal yesterday it was revealed that detectives have seized a British police manual from the McCanns.
Officers believe the book could be used as a key piece of evidence in building a case against them.
A Portuguese police source said: “It is certainly not the sort of reading material you would expect a couple to take on a relaxing family holiday.”

For me, as a trained scientist, it’s not a matter of “believing” this theory, or that theory.
It’s a question of trying to identify all the possibilities, and then assessing their relaltive likelihoods.
Since in this case even more evidence than usual is unofficial rumour and speculation, compounded by a costly media campaign attempting to influence us, I think that this “probability” approach is really the only sensible way. There are a lot of possible scenarios which are not unlikely enough to be rejected by anyone without a closed mind.

Your story doesn’t surprise me one bit and getting verbal abuse is typical. It’s typical because you are clearly a responsible person and they are not. That’s why the UK has the hoody culture.
Years ago, I was at my parents’ house and some youths were throwing stones at their window. I ran outside and chased a gang of about 10 kids. I managed to catch a straggler at the back and I frog-marched him to his house to see his parents. The mum came to the door and she seemed to have the right attitude by telling this kid off in front of me. However, the next day, the dad phoned my parents and told us that his son had nothing to do with it and he then wanted to argue about why we brought him back to his house!
Like you say, chav or not, they are all pissing in the same bad-parent pot so it’s a no-win situation.

I have seen these reports here. Did the McCann’s take:

September 24th, 2007 at 1:49 pm

Look back and check for yourselves.

and your point is?
you seem to be saying ‘it happens, so it doesn’t matter’.
people murder people all the time.
it happens.
but it’s still illegal.
September 24th, 2007 at 1:48 pm
Being convicted or not is not the same as whether they did it.
Conviction depends on how much evidence the police have been able to find, and how persuasive the Mccons elite team of criminal defence lawyers present their case.
A court case is just a game for lawyers. It will be nothing to do with what happened in reality, unless of course a golden piece of evidence which even the Team Mccon cant explain comes out.

as to ‘why’ I haven’t got a clue
as to ‘reasonend argument and solid facts’ : They are rather suspicious, don’t you think?

I agree. They’d not be able to stay composed in such a short time frame. It’s more likely that she was given away on May 3rd in a pre-arranged deal so they’d had months to prepare themselves mentally for it. That explains why Kate says in the missing video “Madeleine knows we love her…”
September 24th, 2007 at 1:46 pm

Some of G’s posts in his daily blog make you want to vomit. The ease at which he would comment on the inane daily routines of life instead of talking about what they were doing to find their baby was senseless.
