Madeleine McCann: Robert Murat Innocent, Private Detectives & Kate McCann’s Hot Lips
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY MIRROR front page: “WE’LL FIND HER OURSELVES. Maddy parents bring in SAS private detectives”.
Kate and Gerry McCann have hired Control Risk Group, billed as a “crack security firm”, to find their daughter.
Page 5: “THE PROFESSIONALS” – There’s TV show in this. The Portuguese police could be the Keystone Cops, at least that’s what the tabloid press portrays them as.
“Millionaire ex-double glazing boss” is the mystery benefactor paying McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell’s wages. The former window cleaner owns Sale Sharks ruby union club. Look out for their new sponsor.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE. ‘McCanns ARE LYING’ - Portuguese police says friends are in cover-up.”
Robert Murat is to be told he will not face charges. Kate and Gerry McCann will be the only named suspects.
“SMILING” – The WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPERS leads with a picture of Kate McCann grinning.
Pages 4 and 5: “Kidnap? We just don’t; believe it.” It is reported in Portugal that an unnamed Irishman has come forward to say he was in the same place as the McCanns’ friend Jane Tanner. She told police she had seen a man carrying child dashing from the Ocean Club resort in the direction of Robert Murat’s home. The new witness says he saw no-one.
“’GUILT’ OF PARENTS - More than 60 per cent think the couple know what has happened to Madeleine.”
“WHEN KATE WAS HOT LIPS HEALEY” – 15 YEARS AGO Kate was nicknamed hot lips for her resemblance to Loretta Swit in TV comedy M*A*S*H. The Express has seen her Dundee University year book and the comments - “Kate was great fun”; “renowned for alcoholic binges and some ‘dance till you drop’ nocturnal activities”; “she was certainly more interested in going to the pub than she was in her studies” etc.
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE: PARENTS ARE LYING. Cops say McCanns & friends tried to frame suspect Murat.”
Pages 4 and 5: “McCANNS ‘ARE LYING’.”
A phone poll: “DO YOU BELIEVE THE McCANNS ARE LYING?” Let’s see if we can top that 60 per cent in the Star’s sister paper the Daily Express. Vote now and vote often.
THE SUN pages 12 and 13: “TWIN’S LIFT FOR MUM AND DAD.”
Kate and Gerry McCann are with son Sean. They have been to Mass. Kate sobs when Ave Maria is sung. Daughter Amelie is in nursery school. She is plying with the Cuddle Cat. She bursts into laughter, “her giggles rang around the building”.
DAILY MAIL front page: “Madeleine:
• Ex-SAS team joins hunt
• New sighting in Morocco
• Kate breaks down in church
• Police accused over forensics”
Page 8: “McCanns hire an ex-SAS team to hunt for Maddie.”
“Second witness supports sighting in Morocco” – Remember when Marl Pollard said she saw Madeleine in Morocco? Now we lean that a man also saw Madeleine in Morocco.
THE INDEPENDENT PAGE 17: “Murat no longer suspect.”
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 10: “McCanns hired detective firm with ex-SAS men”. Under Portuguese law, the McCanns are not permitted to carry out their own investigation in Portugal. But they can investigate in other countries.
THE TIMES front page: “McCann investigators” – McCanns hire private security firm.
Pages 12 and 13: “How they managed to turn campaign around.” The McCanns are “winning the propaganda war”. They have gone on the “offensive”.
A family source says: “It is for the police to prove they are guilty.”
GUARDIAN: No Madeleine news today.

I think the “lipstick” thing is a red herring.
A popsicle, lolipop, ice-cream or coloured sweet could have had that effect. The parents might have taken the picture exactly because of that effect (i.e. it was funny).
I also think the pictures look ‘disturbing’ simply because we know that a tragedy will occur to this little girl.
Still think the “Teflon 2″ are “involved” tho’…..

Regarding this Control Risk Group.
After reading through their website the only reference I can find that they are involved in abductions and kidnappings is this.
http://www.control-risks.com/Default.aspx?page=412
In which they state.
“Our consultants never intervene. They act exclusively as advisors, analysing the situation and guiding clients in handling communications with all those involved and explaining the likely sequence of events. Our consultants will also provide post-incident support to victims who often want to talk about their experiences with people who understand the situations that they have been through.”
I can find no reference that they actively travel around the world “looking” for missing people in a “cloak and dagger” kind of way. The only mention of investigative work I can find is their;
“Business intelligence & investigation
New markets and business partners offer opportunities but also present risks.
——————————————————————————–
Business intelligence and due diligence represent both essential risk management and a significant source of competitive advantage. Hidden agendas can easily derail the best plans and reputations can be damaged and investment lost. Add in regulatory or government interference, corruption, criminality and intellectual property abuse and it is even clearer that businesses need to be fully aware of a wide spectrum of risks.
But what happens if criminality occurs? In a business headquarters or a distant subsidiary, a skillful fraudster can find a financial weakness if it is there to be exploited. Whether the cause is endemic state corruption, personal or corporate blackmail or straight theft, our Certified Fraud Examiners and investigators can highlight the risks in financial security or accounting systems, and identify the culprit to an evidential standard of proof during or after the event.”
In fact this is a summary of their services.
“Provides political, business, and security risk analysis; due diligence and fraud investigation; litigation support; employee wrongdoing investigation; preventive security services; asset protection; crisis management planning; and training. Provides crisis response for kidnapping and extortion.”
So what possible use would this group be to the McCanns? And perhaps more importantly why would this group, which deals more with governments and big businesses, be interested in taking on a search for the missing child of a couple of Drs from Leicester?

Why are the Morocco sightings considered to be ‘new’ when these were both reported on September 23rd…

333 Blunger, I agree with your post.
I would say Stig’s post appears to be somewhat clutching at straws with respect to the beeding knee.’
The danger with deciding a theory and then trying to make the evidence fit to this is that it leads to selective use of evidence and mass distortion to make things fit. Mistakes like this are made in medical science.
Unfortunately, in this case we are privy to so little “evidence” that, as Blunger says, most theories remain possible.
My gut feeling is that the evidence (probably mostly circumstantial) collected by the PJ indicates possible parental involvement, hence their being named arguidos. I suspect now the PJ are using their time to collect further evidence before formally charging them. The McCanns fear this, hence their rebuttal of each unanswered question, thus far.
Of course, the PJ could be wrong and are trying to fit evidence to their incorrect theory.
The prediction that it would be all over today seems unlikely now. So do we now await the mystical day 150?

you’re right, whenever you touch a nerve with a factual observation, the Pro-Mcconns get personal and aggresive.
September 24th, 2007 at 3:15 pm
Sadly I have read your posts and I stand but what I write in my 350 post.
September 24th, 2007 at 3:15 pm
still, if someone takes the trouble to slag me off for half a page, it suggests to me what i’m saying is hurting.
poor team mccann.

“during a church service yesterday… Kate, 39, wept openly, firing a reproach to the critics who have said her lack of emotion is a reason for suspecting her of being involved in her daughter’s disappearance”.
That clinches it for me. The PR team are ticking off the “popular criticism” boxes one by one, at about one per day.
The only thing we might not get (because of the fear of prosecution for it) is a full-fledged admission of in-principle wrongdoing for leaving these very little children so alone for so long.
Mind you - if they judge the “involvement” accusation as much more threatening, they just might set up a big “neglect apology” media event. The blogosphere must be telling them how important the lack of it is in shaping public opinion.
Lets see.
One thing I do know - this box-ticking campaign just increases my cynicism, rather than the opposite.
A big NEGLECT APOLOGY MEDIA EVENT next ? What do you think ?

350.
after you learn to read, you can apologise if you like, i don’t mind.
you can insult me all you like, just take the trouble to read what i post first.

Has anyone seen those movies with multiple endings, where the viewers get to phone in and vote for which way they want the plot to go….
The Mccans belated reactions 4 months on - tears, hiring private investigators, issuing corrections to news stories that have been out for months - is like one of those movies.
I’m just waiting for them to follow up on the suggestions to have their website in Portugese, Spanish and Arabic… and for them to go (with all their crew of experts in this, that and the other) to the sighting location.

Firestar once described paedophilia as ‘fiddling with kids”. Everyone on the forum thought this was a strange interpretation of the term and now he thinks that when little girls innocently play dress up, they are trying to practise “sexy”.
Seriously Firestar go seek help immediately. Its you that I worry about not the McCanns.
And trust that your insults will not make me bat an eye. They only prove my point about you. Your violent, aggressive and unfunny posts are disturbing to say the least.
NOTE TO MODS AND ADMIN
Firestar in his Post 271 also as per usual insults posters such as Moderation. He states,
“…..in fact, as you have no opinion of your own, i would describe your posts as simply
‘rear orifice reticulation.”
I thought Mods and Admins promised to ban anyone making disgusting remarks and insults to others. I think you need to get rid of this guy as he just brings this forum down to an even lower level than its currently at.

if you’re worried about infection, you don’t let your kids piss on all the rotting meat and used nappies in the boot in the same car you’re ferrying them around in.

there’s one in the states.
i believe it’s called ‘Blackwater’.
yesterday they were defending the ‘heroic’ shooting of civillians, to protect their reputation.
September 24th, 2007 at 3:06 pm
why would they be worried about an infection from the so called ‘gash on the knee’ after the trip boarding the plane? after all K wears clothes in the morgue then on holiday, and takes cuddle cat to work. and…. who is to say that cuddle cat isnt the cause of the spread of mrsa and c/dif in that case? who knows!
September 24th, 2007 at 3:05 pm

it was reported in one of the papers.
the link is on anorak somewhere, a few days ago where people were discussing some new family pictures that didn’t come from the mc canns.
September 24th, 2007 at 3:05 pm
If anyone is wondering whether the McCann campaign is now reactive rather than proactive, page 5 of today’s Express (yes the same one with front page “McCanns are lying”) has the following:
“during a church service yesterday… Kate, 39, wept openly, firing a reproach to the critics who have said her lack of emotion is a reason for suspecting her of being involved in her daughter’s disappearance”.
You said you wanted tears. Now you’ve got ‘em (albeit somewhat belatedly). Case closed.
September 24th, 2007 at 3:05 pm
339 Blunger
As I’ve said before, if the pro-Mcconns want to get serious, they can go and setup their own website forum with that objective.
The objectives of Anorak are clearly stated on the home page…. to keep tabs on the tabloid stories in a satirical way.
September 24th, 2007 at 3:03 pm
“A source close to the McCanns’ legal team said CRG had been working with the family since May and were in regular contact.”
Come on, whats really so secretive about when the CRG allegedly started work? Why not name yourself? Unless of course no one dare put their name to a lie!
September 24th, 2007 at 3:02 pm
On the question - why be serious on a satire site ?
It is true that the Anorak editorial attemots to be satirical (or at least sarcastic} in its treatment of media stories.
I think it illogical to assume that because of this the discussion of the stories, and the events behind them, should be in the same vein. One person in a room oozing satire and cynicism is amusing. Everyone doing the same is useless cacophony.

336 Moderation
A company who sends Mercenaries to Iraq, where they have a 50:50 chance of being killed cares about their reputation?
September 24th, 2007 at 3:01 pm
329 continues…. was referring to the remote risk of blood transferable diseases that doctors would be keen on eliminating. But just for the looks of it, any parent would wipe or cover a bleeding knee…

I would guess the company would have something to say if it wasn’t true because it would reflect badly on them!

I was serious : whas the person on the plane someone you knew personally, or a ‘close friend of your family’?
Because these kind of rumours get us (the general poster) confused.
And don’t get me wrong : I do think the McCanns are guilty. But posting things you don’t have a back-up on doesn’t help the case, in contrary.
sorry if I sound weird, but I’m not English, so excuse me for the mistakes I have made
September 24th, 2007 at 2:58 pm
Ade,
you can buy one on the Mcconn website, freshly washed by Kate
September 24th, 2007 at 2:58 pm
Aren’t there too many people here who have made their minds up one way or the other ? Whiling away their time by bickering at each other?
It’s FAR too early for anyone sensible to have achieved certainty one way or the other. There is much too little officially ratified evidence.
I urge everyone to discuss possibilities, even wild ones - but as POSSIBILITIES.
Certainty and bickering in this situation is not only boring - it’s childish and obscures and discourages interesting adult discussion.
September 24th, 2007 at 2:56 pm
Ade here
just popped in from a different location. I’m supposed to be having a McConn-free day.
Had a quick scan through and things are looking up. Keep up the good work chaps and we will nail the evil bastards. Must go - be back later. Trying to find a Cuddle Cat but all the shopkeepers think I’m a weirdo…
fair assessment really… pip pip
