Madeleine McCann: Robert Murat Innocent, Private Detectives & Kate McCann’s Hot Lips
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY MIRROR front page: “WE’LL FIND HER OURSELVES. Maddy parents bring in SAS private detectives”.
Kate and Gerry McCann have hired Control Risk Group, billed as a “crack security firm”, to find their daughter.
Page 5: “THE PROFESSIONALS” – There’s TV show in this. The Portuguese police could be the Keystone Cops, at least that’s what the tabloid press portrays them as.
“Millionaire ex-double glazing boss” is the mystery benefactor paying McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell’s wages. The former window cleaner owns Sale Sharks ruby union club. Look out for their new sponsor.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE. ‘McCanns ARE LYING’ - Portuguese police says friends are in cover-up.”
Robert Murat is to be told he will not face charges. Kate and Gerry McCann will be the only named suspects.
“SMILING” – The WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPERS leads with a picture of Kate McCann grinning.
Pages 4 and 5: “Kidnap? We just don’t; believe it.” It is reported in Portugal that an unnamed Irishman has come forward to say he was in the same place as the McCanns’ friend Jane Tanner. She told police she had seen a man carrying child dashing from the Ocean Club resort in the direction of Robert Murat’s home. The new witness says he saw no-one.
“’GUILT’ OF PARENTS - More than 60 per cent think the couple know what has happened to Madeleine.”
“WHEN KATE WAS HOT LIPS HEALEY” – 15 YEARS AGO Kate was nicknamed hot lips for her resemblance to Loretta Swit in TV comedy M*A*S*H. The Express has seen her Dundee University year book and the comments - “Kate was great fun”; “renowned for alcoholic binges and some ‘dance till you drop’ nocturnal activities”; “she was certainly more interested in going to the pub than she was in her studies” etc.
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE: PARENTS ARE LYING. Cops say McCanns & friends tried to frame suspect Murat.”
Pages 4 and 5: “McCANNS ‘ARE LYING’.”
A phone poll: “DO YOU BELIEVE THE McCANNS ARE LYING?” Let’s see if we can top that 60 per cent in the Star’s sister paper the Daily Express. Vote now and vote often.
THE SUN pages 12 and 13: “TWIN’S LIFT FOR MUM AND DAD.”
Kate and Gerry McCann are with son Sean. They have been to Mass. Kate sobs when Ave Maria is sung. Daughter Amelie is in nursery school. She is plying with the Cuddle Cat. She bursts into laughter, “her giggles rang around the building”.
DAILY MAIL front page: “Madeleine:
• Ex-SAS team joins hunt
• New sighting in Morocco
• Kate breaks down in church
• Police accused over forensics”
Page 8: “McCanns hire an ex-SAS team to hunt for Maddie.”
“Second witness supports sighting in Morocco” – Remember when Marl Pollard said she saw Madeleine in Morocco? Now we lean that a man also saw Madeleine in Morocco.
THE INDEPENDENT PAGE 17: “Murat no longer suspect.”
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 10: “McCanns hired detective firm with ex-SAS men”. Under Portuguese law, the McCanns are not permitted to carry out their own investigation in Portugal. But they can investigate in other countries.
THE TIMES front page: “McCann investigators” – McCanns hire private security firm.
Pages 12 and 13: “How they managed to turn campaign around.” The McCanns are “winning the propaganda war”. They have gone on the “offensive”.
A family source says: “It is for the police to prove they are guilty.”
GUARDIAN: No Madeleine news today.

timesonline article.
What kind of dictionary does the reporter of the article use that defines a responsible, caring and sober parent as sanctimonious?

I would. However, I think it somehow not right to say you were wrong for presuming someone innocent until proven guilty.
I would admit to being wrong about what I thought - but not to what I have said or done.

408, nononethere, well debated. Soberly done; I am pretty impressed.
Although I am not so sure about your explanation about the family’s rections to the possible sightings. I am more with Ian Willis’ thoughts (409) on this matter.
Each specific piece of “evidence” can always be dismissed with some eplanation, but it is the collection of evidence that eventually becomes overwhelming. Something certainly appears strange here, and the PJ obviously think so too. Although, they could be inept and desperately looking at any avenue.

401,
hardly abuse, just pointing out that he is a bad writer. Have you honestly not read his vile posts. Please another person supporting Firestar because they share the same views regardless if he uses rude, hate-mongering language. I am glad to hear you are going to buy some books.

Canada 405… It was Morocco in North Africa which a very short boat trip from Portugal.

Bulldump - went for a long walk.
Came back and saw that I had offended the Brits.
Actually I am British but live in South Africa.
I do not mean to slag your government but really guys
I think what has been revealed through this case should
be cause for alarm.
I have lived through several states of emergency, detention
without trial etc.
I can see the writing on the wall.
It is not the British people I am slagging, it is the powers that be.
You know - the one’s who support their own kind.
The ones in question.
How can you take offense at this?

ie. use ALL possible resources to defend themselves and promote their PR circus, but when it comes to finding Madeleine, “leave it to the imbecile portuguse police” and some contracting agency who hires mercenaries to fight in iraq and afghanistan?

you are absolutely right. I think every single person posting her should read this article - all of it, slowly, every single word:

Just looking at the “news” headlines.
Are we really supposed to accept that suspect’s day-to-day feelings and opinions about their own case is “news” ?
And that it is proper for them to keep putting up for discussion, and then knocking down, suspected evidence in their own case ?
This is an utter disgrace.
They say we get the press we deserve, and it’s probably true. Heaven help us.
We get the governments we deserve too.

Is that the same police that the family referred to as “imbeciles”?
So are you telling me they are ok to give up on the search for Madeleine, but its ok for them to recruit billionare businessmen, top criminal defence lawyers, and ex-government PR agents to act for thme while the assist the Pj with their enquiries?
September 24th, 2007 at 3:54 pm
404,
this is how he represented himself by the way he posts. As I said he needs to rethink how he writes.

#242 Carmen - A similar story.
Not long after Madeleine went missing I was at a sports event. A very nice professional couple was sitting on the front row of the bleachers, they had a 3 year old daughter who told her mother that she thought she had seen some friends at a nearby field (12 fields in all) and wanted to go and visit them. The mother firmly replied no. Then the little girl, with her big eyes and flowing blond trusses shamelessly flirted with her father for a couple of long minutes. When the girl knew she had him, she asked if he would let her go. Off she went. She didn’t come back. The parents waited 15 minutes before the father, who was trying to look cool, got up to look. After awhile, he came back and told his wife he thought she was completely gone. It took them an hour to find her. The mother was livid and I could tell that she was sick to death of having the little girl over-rule her better judgment.
It was pathetic. All I could do is pray to the holy angels to keep the child from danger.
But what chance does a little girl who has learned how to get her own way, the wrong way, have at a good life?

386,
I would take advice from the police as they would hopefully have experience in such matters. Perhaps I would go there depending on the crediblity of the sighting. The McCanns I suspect took advice, police supposedly checked out one of the sightings as that was reported in the press. And the McCanns did go to Morocco. And now we hear that they may have hired a special security force to deal with their daugher’s disappearance and that they hired this special security force early on.
I really don’t get what you are driving at Ian. Whoever took Madeliene more than likely has gone underground or has sadely already gotten rid of her. The McCanns could never be able to inflitrate a paedophile ring (if this is what happened) or catch child-traffickers, you need experts for that. And such a task may actually take a long time as I am sure such people are highly protected which is why it sadly still exists in this world.
September 24th, 2007 at 3:52 pm
Another question: why did Kate state that she always had a feeling that Maddy was smuggled to South Africa. Why South Africa? Seems like a strange gut feeling.
September 24th, 2007 at 3:52 pm
nononethere, I do actually agree partially with what you say, but it sounds like advocating the PC police. Now, I am often dismissed as a PC thug and am unpeturbed by the claim, I wonder if you are the same.
‘Lisa: Dad they called me a PC thug!
Homer: It’s allright Lisa I’ve been called a Greasy thug
before too. So here’s what we’ll do–we’ll grease
ourselves up real good and smash that place with a
baseball bat.’
My charge of hypocrisy was not at you finding Firestar offensive, but that you alluded to (or if you didn’t, this is how I interpreted it) his having an unhealthy interest in children.

Is firestar a man or a woman?
(or does he/she not want to comment due to portugese laws until they’ve consulted their PR agent?)

Most people who go on a family holiday, go as a family to relax and enjoy.
I dont know that many people who go as groups of couples on a “family holiday” but then dump their kids in a creche or playgroup all day.
Anothre possibility why the Tapas 9 are keeping quiet and out of the limelight?
September 24th, 2007 at 3:48 pm
396 - Here comes the science part-
I just went to Firestar’swebsite too - you need to take off the bit after the forward slash - as with all website addresses - to get to the main page.
And firestar is right! reasonably priced books. I am thinking of purchasing “Earth Then and Now” when it is published. And to think, all because Nononethere started heaping abuse on her she mentioned her site and I took a look!
September 24th, 2007 at 3:48 pm
The problem here for the pro McCanns is that there is no evidence whatsoever that an abduction occurred and in the subsequent 4 months there are an unnatural amount of discrepancies surrounding the McCanns speech, actions, body language and case ‘evidence’. This leads to only one obvious conclusion to anybody impartial. And the McCanns must be the unluckiest people to have ever walked the face of the earth if they’re innocent of ANYTHING in light of such an overwhelming amount of contradiction.

I can’t find anything on the forensic book on the link you provided
September 24th, 2007 at 3:45 pm
By the way, does anyone remember were the allegations that KM and GM were into swing habits come from? From an eye witness? Would that be in line with the Catholic faith? Maybe I am too straight to suggest these people are far less naive (in so many ways) than they claim to be…

I’m sure much more qualified people than us have been pondering over this question.
There’s a thought : ‘Let’s ask the parents’

nononethere… thanks for the support but Bulldump posted the most vile abuse on a previous forum and mods and admin said nothing at all…. (yes I kept a copy of it).

380,
never heard the term before but it still does not make it right. It is offensive to say the least. So if someone can not use the english language correctly then they need to rethink what they are saying and how it may come across or be interpreted. So no I do not accept your point of being hypocritical.
I am trying to help Firestar, he needs buy a dictionary from his own website.
